We were greeted by hostess Julie, who was warm and welcoming right from the start. I really appreciated that the staff acknowledged the birthday without us even having to mention it. Our server, Mary Jane, already knew, which was a great touch (likely from reservation notes which, honestly, was a refreshing change from a past experience at Peppermill). Mary Jane was excellent--attentive, consistent, and on top of everything. Even with how busy it was, she made us feel like we were her only table. Chloe, our food runner, kept things running smoothly. The atmosphere was lively with trivia night and team competitions going on, which added a fun vibe. They also have outdoor seating available. Food was good overall. The birthday boy loved the Crabfest! Tried their sampler platter and Lobster fries both were just okay. Our shrimp came out overcooked at first, but they quickly corrected it and the second round was great. The seafood pasta, fish & chips, shrimp, and poke tacos were all decent, but nothing particularly memorable. Service is definitely 5 stars. Food is closer to 4 stars--but still a solid experience overall.

This was an extremely disappointing visit to Chickie's & Pete's. We had reservations here for…read moredinner before the Lucy Darling show. Upon arrival, we were sat immediately and greeted by our waitress. The restaurant was clean, bright, and had very few occupied tables. The service from our waitress was non-existent during our stay even though there were very few tables requiring service. She was at our table to greet us and take our drinks, and to take our order but that was it. We had to leave our table to find her to get drink refills and to ask for our check. To drink, we ordered the Churchill Sour and the Blueberry Mojito with a shot of the house rum (it's a virgin on the menu). The Churchill Sour was well balanced and complex. The Blueberry Mojito with a shot of house rum was anything but good. It tasted like straight soda water...even after being mixed at the table. I did order a 2nd one later on and did 2 shots of the house rum and specifically asked for the bartender to mix it and it did taste slightly better. I was shocked to see that on the bill that EACH shot of house rum cost almost the exact same as the Churchill Sour! To start the meal we ordered the crispy calamari. Not only did this come out barely warm and chewy from being overcooked, but it also came to our table with our main courses (I specifically told her that this was our appetizer and we wanted it out first). For our main courses, we ordered the fish and chips, the warm lobster roll, and the lobster philly cheesesteak. The fish and chips were delicious. The fish was light, flaky, and flavorful. The lobster philly cheesesteak was a good surprise. I was on the fence about seafood with cheese, however they complemented each other nicely. The meat was seasoned to perfection and cooked to beautifully. The fries that came with the fish and added onto the philly were the HIGHLIGHT of the meal! They were crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside, and the seasoning was on point. The warm lobster roll was just ok. The lobster was ice cold (the butter it came with to dip it in was cold too) and slightly overcooked. The roll was also lacking all flavor and seasoning. Sadly, during our time at Chickie's & Pete's we were not the only table that had these or similar issues. We watched 2 tables walk out before ordering as their wait time for drinks and/or to be greeted was pushing 20 minutes after being seated, other tables actively searching for servers, and heard several complaints from nearby tables about food quality. Unfortunately, I think we may be taking a break from Chickie's and Pete's for a while when we visit GSR.

Today, I finally made it happen! Pictured here is the unbelievably delicious Oklahoma Smash Burger :D Shane, the owner and chef, and his staff are always so friendly and inviting. Honestly, I'd still come here even if the food weren't amazing--but thankfully, it absolutely is. I am embarrassed to admit I was skeptical the first time I heard about the chicken skin nachos, but the moment I tried them, I was hooked. They remind me of the freshest chicharrónes and give the nachos the perfect crispy texture. The Cajun queso and andouille sausage on top are incredible. I've had just about everything on the menu, and not once have I been disappointed. GET THE SALTED BUTTER PECAN ICE CREAM!! You will most likely be too stuffed to eat it there, but take some home. It'll be the best decision you ever make. If I had one complaint, it would only be that they get very busy on weekends, so it can be tough to grab a table. I highly recommend making a reservation! Especially when Chef Shane has his seafood boils, yummmm!

It was just nice to sit down at a table with proper good napkins! The blackened shrimp salad was huge and quite tasty. Shrimp was a tiny over done, but flavor kept me digging in. The fried oyster mushrooms were great! Super crispy and toothsome, the sauce was sticky and oh so good. They stayed crunchy even taking them home. Now, the best part was the last part: ice cream. They had a great choice of flavors, making it hard to decide. So we got a flight with three flavors! The ice cream flights will have us returning for a cool treat any time of year.

The inside has that old school diner and saloon vibe people always mention, a little dark, a little busy, with memorabilia on the walls and a bar that looks like it's been there forever. It's not trying to be trendy, more of a local hangout with a lot of character and a steady crowd of regulars. If you go on a weekend, expect a wait because it gets packed. Service was excellent. Even with the place being full, everything ran smoothly and the staff stayed friendly and attentive the whole time. It felt like they actually care about making sure you're taken care of, not rushing you in and out. Definitely a strong point of the experience. For food, we had the chicken fried steak and the French toast. The chicken fried steak was exactly what you want from a place like this, large portion, hearty, and satisfying. The French toast was a nice balance to that, a little lighter but still rich and comforting. Overall, it's solid, no nonsense comfort food that hits the spot. This is the kind of place you go when you want a real meal and a laid back atmosphere. Would highly recommend. Great value and service!

PJ's is a just a good ol'fashioned diner and I mean this in the best way possible. The restaurant has a comfortable, rustic feeling and the staff are warm and welcoming. Like you came to their home for a meal. My wife and I split the French Toast Platter, which was 2 slices of French Toast, eggs and we ordered the link sausage. The French Toast was solid. Just good basic French Toast. Nothing bougie, just good French Toast. The eggs were eggs but the sausage was quite good. Rich with flavor. The coffee, while unusually expensive for a dinner, was just meh. Nothing special nor nothing terrible. If you are looking for a good, warm, welcoming place for diner food, PJ's just might be the place.
