Like you came to their home for a meal. My wife and I split the French Toast Platter, which was 2 slices of French Toast, eggs and we ordered the link sausage. The French Toast was solid. The inside has that old school diner and saloon vibe people always mention, a little dark, a little busy, with memorabilia on the walls and a bar that looks like it's been there forever. It's not trying to be trendy, more of a local hangout with a lot of character and a steady crowd of regulars. If you go on a weekend, expect a wait because it gets packed. Service was excellent. Even with the place being full, everything ran smoothly and the staff stayed friendly and attentive the whole time. It felt like they actually care about making sure you're taken care of, not rushing you in and out. Definitely a strong point of the experience. For food, we had the chicken fried steak and the French toast. The chicken fried steak was exactly what you want from a place like this, large portion, hearty, and satisfying. The French toast was a nice balance to that, a little lighter but still rich and comforting. Overall, it's solid, no nonsense comfort food that hits the spot. Another Reno gem that I can't believe that I haven't reviewed before. This is one that I have been coming to for years off and on. This particular Saturday I brought my two grown daughters to. There was a wait, no surprise there. Fortunately it was a nice day out. When we got seated, it was in that patio area. Our server came and took our drink order right away. I had ordered mimosa and my daughters ordered a Mai Tai and a Pina Colada. I ended up with the Mai Tai in the end because my daughter was not prepared for the power of the drink. Happy New Year to us! A little late to the game, 10 days to be exact. We celebrated our weekend breakfast with a bacon Bloody Mary, Moroccan iced coffee, chunky monkey pancakes and French Benedict (name escapes me) made with croissants and added avocado. Possibly one of the best BLT sandwiches in Reno! This sandwich was on their secret menu as their BLTA but what was different about it is that they offered two eggs on the sandwich and loaded the plate with potatoes! The sandwich used this type of cheese garlic bread as the toast and omg it was unreal. I ordered two eggs over easy inside the sandwich and they nailed it. Overall the flavor was a 10 out of 10 and I didn't want it to end and wanted to order like 6 of them even tho I was so so full from how huge the sandwich was. Lunch today with the kids. Wanted breakfast but they stopped serving at 11 when we got there so ordered lunch sandwiches. Pretty busy but got seated and had time to check menu before ordering. My husband and I have been coming here for breakfast for years. Their sherried cream cheese sauce is so unspeakably good . Menu is bar and grill, breakfast and lunch with all your standard options like omelets, burgers, chili and chicken wings. I don't like to generalize in my reviews and focus on specifics but I really have never had bad food or bad service there, it's very consistent. Last time I went was a couple days ago when my cousin and some friends were passing through. I tried out the chili, while everyone else got breakfast. All the plates were loaded with food and came out pretty quickly even though the place was kinda popping. The biscuits and gravy being the stand out and everyone at the table had to try. One of our friends was visiting from NSW and opined that this was the best breakfast spot he has tried in the states. Didn't have to ask for coffee or water refills, check came when it should have and both our server an busser were on point. Wish I would have gotten the servers name, tall brunette with that service ESP. When I asked for loads of peppers in my chili, she understood I wanted pain and went through their hot sauce list. The food was not at all what we had expected, especially with the pricing. The potatoes were very bland and not cooked up to my expectations. Myself and my boyfriend weren't really impressed with what we had ordered, the overall flavor was very dull. We addressed our concerns with the staff and they took care of the bill. I think they have a very big menu, and maybe a smaller menu would help with consistency. This is definitely more of a dive bar feel. The kitchen was towards the back while the dining area was on the left side of the building. I was immediately greeted as I approached the hostess station and since I was dining alone, it was easy to seat me at a 2-top table by the window. Their menu was expansive, offering the breakfast staples like omelettes, pancakes, biscuits & gravy, steak & eggs, plus some house specialties like a variation of oatmeal creations, huevos rancheros, quiche and a variety of egg Benedicts. I opted for the chicken fried steak with poached eggs and a cup of fruit (I'm on a low-carb diet), plus decaf coffee- black (sans sugar and cream). The food didn't take long to arrive at my table but it was obviously made-to-order and was expertly prepared. The chicken fried steak was well-seasoned, the poached eggs were perfect and the cup of fruit was very sweet. The service was attentive and friendly from both my waitress (Meryl- if I remember correctly) and the gentleman who serve me coffee and water. Reno staple that has been around for years. My family used to come here for breakfast on Sundays quite frequently. We checked it out again recently and it's nice to see how some things never change! The wait on a Sunday around 9:30am for 5 people was about 20 minutes. We squeezed in at a tight table but that was preferred over waiting longer for a bigger table. There is a very nice patio for outdoor seating as well. The dining room is quaint and the was are decorated with memorabilia. The service was very quick and the food was delicious. The servings are big and filling at a good price (although I did notice the prices listed on the website online are outdated). I got the chocolate chip pancakes with eggs and bacon, and it was great! I love this place. Busy Sunday morning, the smells walking in just comfort you. We have come here for over 35 years. We are on the fourth generation asking to go here. Time for a little update. Last time I was here I realized that I had been eating here for over 30 years! Amazing to think that they have been doing this for so long and have been so consistent at bringing a quality experience. We almost always go for breakfast when we go because they really do have the best Benedicts in town. The Hollandaise cannot be beat. Smooth and creamy and rich always. One other thing that I am super impressed with is the lack of employee turnover that they have. Great employees are key to a great business and they seem to always have excellent people behind the counter and connecting with the customers.
