My wife, who was not down with the fried fish, went with the grilled chicken sandwich Came out pretty fast. And it was hot. Very hot. It came with fries (I guess that's their version of chips), onion rings and a hush puppy. Fish was just the way I like it for London style, which is a flour batter rather than corn meal batter. The sides were all good. It was just a lot of fried food. My wife's chicken avocado sandwich was huge. A massive chicken breast split and tons of avocado. I got a bite and it was very good. Let me just say that I'm rating this from a takeout/to go perspective however I will put in two perspective why I did not give this establishment Fivestars even though the hamburger I ordered was absolutely wonderful. The places in a level of dis repair. Please don't get me wrong. I don't think there are health issues however, when I walked in, there were globes missing from the overhead lights there were lights missing from the overhead lights. And when I went to get the two go drinks, the ice machine had no ice. Now, in all fairness as I was beginning to walk out the door, the manager or whomever it was came and fill the ice machine back up however, I had already packed everything up to carry out. On the other hand, clearly the saving grace was the food which is really why we go to restaurants to begin with. I had a hamburger I don't remember which one there are several options. The hamburger was extremely good and is reason alone to visit this eating establishment however they really are some things that the managers need to do to improve the ambiance. read more

I have been to the Fraz and Grand Lakes locations. I ate a burger at the Franz location, got sick with diarrhea and vomit, my husband had diarrhea after eating one of their chicken wraps. I really should have known better after walking in and it was warm and muggy, and the bathroom was kinda ran down grimy. Finally decided to give JLB another chance but decided to go to a different location. Walked in and was warm and muggy, the young lady at the register said she could turn on the fans, I was like yeah great idea . I went to the bathroom to wash my hands while my daughter and husband finished ordering, I came out and told her never mind we were not eating there and that the bathroom was disgusting. Also, I looked at the fans and thank goodness she did not turn them on! The dust was so thick and would have ended up getting all over everyone eating. What is it with the Katy locations A/C and bathrooms?! Is every JLB like this? I'm just trying to find a solid burger place since our move here. JLB is tTucked away in a corner strip mall. I ordered combo bacon burger with all extra toppings. It's a large tasty burger in a large, soft, bun and it's for sure you'll need a couple or three napkins!! Fries are good and crispy and come pre salted not cheap- but worth the money. Service was attentive and the young lady was kind enough to open the door for me as I left. Large selection of other food types including wraps, wings and fish and chips. Ambiance is rather sterile but the tables are clean. Background Music played is just a little too loud for my liking but not overly intrusive. I ordered Cajun but I don't think they gave me Cajun !No season was on there and no spice to it I love the crispness , the tartar sauce and the fries were great ! The avocado was fresh as well ! Overall a great experience. I was in the area and have been wanting to try this place out. Plenty of parking spaces in the plaza (for now until more businesses open), clean area both inside and out. Friendly service but seems like it's just one guy running the restaurant, whom I believe is the owner. Good foot traffic restaurant where I see more pickup orders during the day than dining-in. Avocado burger with fries and drink was delicious. It's clean kind of burger. Not oily and made with real angus beef. I like their sour dough bun and how huge it is! Steak fries are delicious and not overly salty - just the way I like it. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Their chicken wrap was also a nice pick. Crispy chicken with plenty of lettuce and jalapeño. A tad watery but not bad, reminds me of deli shops in NY and MA. Would I come again? Definitely. We tried this restaurant establishment today for take out. I had the double cheeseburger and my wife had the bacon cheeseburger with house cut fries. 1/3 pound angus patties were huge and accompanied with an in-house soft fluffy potato bun with cheese baked on the top. Very flavorful and filling, I left off any sides so, to enjoy the taste of the beef. The burgers are a little bit on the pricer side however, they are well worth it in terms of quality and size. They have another location in Fulshear where we have dined in before. I was truly satisfied that all the food was still hot and fresh when my wife arrived home. 4.6 miles round trip. The burgers are the size of the entire full-size to-go box (you can't even fit fries in the same box, they take up the whole thing), you are 100% getting the quantity for the price. I really wanted to like this place; however, the taste was just not there for me. Average fries that don't beat chick-fil-a, while the patty melt and burgers were large, the taste doesn't beat whataburger (which would be my burger benchmark for the cost). The food taste itself is somewhere in between Sonic and Whataburger even though I believe their ingredients are fresher. I've heard great things about this place and we finally took a trip for lunch. As soon as we walked into the restaurant, my daughter noticed that it looked just like Joy Love Burger. I confirmed this with the guy behind the counter that this is what JLB stands for. Instead of going with the huge burgers that we normally order at JLB, I had the fried pork, my daughter had the wings, and my wife had a chicken wrap. My wife enjoyed her chicken wrap, and I liked the fried pork, but the wings were a little bland. Portions are large, I have two big pieces of fried pork and took leftovers back. I do like the fact that you get a small salad, fries, and a drink with a combo order. You can also order different dressings and sauces when waiting for your meal. The barbecue sauce was good for dipping my fried pork into. Self-serve drinks (Pepsi products). They will bring your food and sauces to your table. Good service. Great little lunch place. A long review from someone who had given them 5 stars in the past and always enjoyed my experience there. We are very good customer who eat here a lot (take-out, delivery and dine-in). However, it just takes one truly bad experience, to lose a good customer, so I'm changing my review to a 1-star and won't be back. The true test of a great restaurant is how they treat their customers when things aren't perfect, which happened to us. We are in our 80's and my husband is a veteran with advanced cancer, so it's not easy for us to dine-in as much as we used to, so we were really looking forward to eating there and not having it delivered. On June 6th, the girl at the counter was inattentive. We aren't very mobile to get up and get items ourselves when we are being ignored. We ordered three dinners, including fish dinners and asked a couple of times for tartar sauce. Finally we asked our granddaughter who was with us, grabbed what we needed from the counter. However, at this point, our food was no longer super hot. It would have all still been fine, but our shrimp/fish dinners were very greasy on this visit and my granddaughters fish was not cooked all they way through, so she didn't eat it. Not wanting to embarrass my granddaughter, I took the fish to the counter to show them (yep, walker and all). The cook came out and loudly told me in front of other customers (so much for not embarrassing my granddaughter) that is was cooked fine and we just let it get cold (it was cold because she didn't want to eat raw fish). When I asked for the manager, he said he was the manager. When I asked for the owner, who we always have had lovely interactions with, he said he was the owner's son and then told me the fish was cooked just fine and he would be glad to go back to the kitchen to get a raw fish to show me what a one looks like. It was extremely disrespectful. At this point, I suggested he just refund the raw fish portion of the meal, which he refused. So I went to go back to my table and said that's fine, that we would just pay and take our business elsewhere, at which point he tossed $9 on the counter at me. It was incredibly disrespectful. Every restaurant has an off meal now and then, but when a customer shares a bad experience, it's a great opportunity to problem solve what went wrong. Was the oil too old or not hot enough? Did it not cook long enough? But that didn't happen. I thought his father (the owner) would be mortified by such poor behavior and I didn't want to post a negative review (so much for that), so I called several times to speak to him. I was told 3 or 4 times he was too busy or not there. I tried one last time and he was very polite, but rather than problem solve or apologize for an "off" meal, disrespectful behavior or bad experience, he offered excuses for the undercooked fish, poor service, and his sons' behavior. Even worse, he told me that he had gotten the messages, but was too busy running a business to call me back. So now I understand. It comes from the top. They have enough business they no long need to stand behind quality or customer enjoyment, and they can be disrespectful to an 85 year-old couple, who decided to treat their granddaughter from California to their favorite restaurant. They will do just fine without our business and life goes on. Time to go find a new favorite fish and chips restaurant! read more

The food was good and came out pretty quick however the reason for the lower rating is due to the lack of enthusiasm from the people working there. My son made the comment that the workers seemed not very happy to be there, he said they didn't even greet us in. He is 10! Also their trash was full and over filled, the store was not very clean. ( Soda fountain needed taken apart and cleaned, black dirty floors and lots of things out of order) The place was full and I was not the only one to notice as some of the customers were complaining as well. Portions are large here so order carefully! I ordered the JLB cheeseburger. It is the definition of a burger. The buns are made every day at JLB and I can confirm they are soft and fresh. The lettuce and pickles don't slip out of the burger when you take a bite into it. The patty is juicy and not burnt. I also ordered fries, which have a delicious flavor akin to UK style "fish and chips." They are crispy, not overly salty, with a hint of parmesan and paprika - Yum! I decided to try this place out based on the reviews. I ordered 6 wings and picked them up. The wings were fresh and hot. The way the light hit this burger I knew it was gonna be good! It was like a harp was playing as the waitress brought it to my table. Everything about it was delicious! The bun may look like a lot but it was really light and airy, like it got it's softness from the clouds above. The patty was seasoned just right and everything was just the right proportion; lettuce, tomato, cheese, and mayonnaise and mustard. I don't do onions so I had this made without them. The fries were sprinkled with nothing less than deliciousness! And eating there, instead of getting it to go meant everything was fresh fresh! I'm a fast eater and my food was still warm to the last bites. Only thing left over were a few pleasantries of lettuce that managed to escape my grasp. We went to JLB Eatery on Peek for lunch today after seeing it in this group. Very good decision...my husband had a HUGE bacon cheeseburger. Daughter had a small steak fries--she wondered just how big the large was. I had a shrimp wrap and I've decided my new favorite shrimp po boy is now a shrimp wrap.
