We had a great experience with JLM Environmental. We hired a company to remove our popcorn ceilings, however that company failed to test for asbestos prior to beginning work on our place. We feared there may be an asbestos risk and wanted to test for it right away, so we contacted JLM. I was so surprised (and thankful!) that Jon answered the phone and spoke to me at 7:30pm on a Saturday evening. He answered all my questions and followed up promptly via email and text message. He was also able to schedule an inspector to come to our home the following Monday morning. The inspector arrived on time and was very friendly, knowledgeable, and thorough. He gathered samples, and we received the results 24 hours later (no asbestos, thank goodness!). JLM performed asbestos testing on part of our original interior walls. Appointment scheduling was great - first via phone, then confirmed via text. They were available on a Saturday! The inspector who came to the job site seem pretty knowledgeable about wall materials and quickly pointed out that the materials in two adjacent bathrooms were different. Although it was nice that the inspection and sampling process completed in less than half and hour (for less than 1000 sqft space), it would have been better if the inspector waited to take the samples in our presence (my husband was going in and out of the house to discuss recommendations with me as I was outside with our children). Test results and report came back within two business days as promised. Overall, a friendly and professional company. This was our second time using their service. read more

Fast service. Great price and convenient location to drop off 1 test sample at about $50. However, if you need to test more than one sample, then others charge about $10 less each sample but you might have to travel further or mail it. Office was kept nicely air conditioned during the hot summer so you know they look out for their employees which is nice. And nice to go into an air conditioned place on a hot day. Nice customer relations. Fast turn around. They do make you sign some conditions about their test results, but, hey, results produced are usually conditioned on different things. Lastly, if you drive into their parking lot, be careful and drive around the big hump on the driveway entrance or you could end up slamming the bottom of your car against it as your tires bounce going over it....Not a good sound. Thumbs up for this business for getting a fast answer to 1-2 samples at a time. read more

I recently purchased a home and during the general inspection, we were informed that a suspicious material which the inspector believed was asbestos was found in our duct insulation. I reached out to JLM via Yelp and I received a message back within the hour. I was quoted a price and upon agreement, scheduled an inspection/test. Sam came out the day of and was on time and even called to let me know he was 20 minutes away. He worked efficiently, was knowledgable and explained to me each of the samples he collected and why. Further, he located a sixth area of suspect and consulted with me prior to taking a sample as it was going to be an additional cost. The guys at JLM are top notch. My husband and I bought a house almost a year ago. During the inspection, it was revealed that we had, what appeared to be asbestos, in the attic. My husband called Jon and explained the situation. JLM was packed with appointments, but was kind enough to squeeze in an inspection of our (soon to be) house. In addition to testing the ducting in the attic, he also tested the popcorn ceilings that were in a few closets. As expected the attic tested positive for asbestos (the ceilings were negative). About 8 months later, we had some water damage in our laundry room that required mold remediation. We hired a company, but before they could do any work, they required that we get the drywall tested for asbestos. We went through JLM again. Similar to the first time, Jon was able to squeeze us into their schedule. Chris (?) came out and tested the drywall (it tested negative), and he was also kind enough to do a visual inspection of the attic to make sure all the asbestos materials were removed (he confirmed that they were). Both of our experiences with JLM were great. They are helpful, exceptionally good at communication, and reliable. I hope we never require testing of anything else again, but if we do, we will go with JLM. In addition to our positive experiences, we appreciate that they are objective, in that they only do testing and not any type of remediation. read more

It was very important to me that I take care of any problem that could affect the health of our tenants and I was referred to JLM as a diligent company who tests for mold and likely other contaminants. Their 5 star review is completely warranted. My floor installers unearthed very dingy tile under the old flooring and could not continue as they believed it to contain asbestos. I frantically searched for a company to test, and came across JLM who was able to send Jon to my home in the matter of 30 minutes. I paid an extra $35 to have my report rushed to me the next day, and they delivered as promised, right on time. Having to for asbestos and mold was an unforeseen cost to our project, not to mention a major kink in our timeline as we have to live in our home while this is happening. Don't use. Had an asbestos test while in escrow and came back negative. JLM came back positive, yet air clearance during demo was negative. Had 3 other tests done by other asbestos companies that use independent labs and all came back negative. JLM uses the lab at their facility. Take your time and do your homework or you may pay for a costly remediation when you don't need one. read more

JLM recently assessed a new house for asbestos, mold and lead. They found all of the above, but were very honest about the level of severity and remediation recommendations for each. Jon has been very accessible and will respond to my follow-up questions as they come up, professionally and with detail, as I look for honest bids for abatement.
