First off, I come from a family of mechanics back in Canada. I have learned that finding an honest and reliable mechanic in the city is like finding a unicorn. I've been burnt many times and know the tricks. One way to know if you have a good mechanic is to look at the cars he's working on. John owns the shop and gets his hands dirty every day. He works on some of LA's finest vintage cars as well as the latest MB Brabus or some old Ferrari that only gets touched by the pros. I don't have those types of cars but John treats me like I do and this is why I come back. He's a genuine owner and takes pride is his work. He trains all his guys to be like him. I've ran into some issues and he's always come through and has not charged me for things that other shops would charge. I came across JM Motorsport on Yelp after searching for a quality shop that would do Service A on my car. I have been going to the dealership for service & repairs for several years and decided it was probably more cost effective to look around. I'm glad I found JM, I was able to call and set up a time to bring in my car- I could have brought it in the next morning but had other obligations, so I told them I'd bring it in the following day. The Service A was $150 and done in under an hour. I'm used to the dealership where I'm without my car for several hours and they find other things that supposedly need to be fixed, so I was happy that there was no other surprise charges or scare tactics here. If you're a female who doesn't necessarily know a lot about cars, I would recommend this shop. It's located right behind a Pep Boys so you won't see the front driving down Ventura, but just drive up the small dead-end street and it's right there. Everyone there is friendly and efficient and I'll trust them for future car repairs/service. read more

I have an Audi A4, I went to the Audi dealer in Van Nuys, CA for my two headlight lamps going out. They advised me on the phone AND after doing the inspection when i brought in my car, that I needed to change both of my headlights. This I already knew. Their service advisor proceeded to tell me that because I have Xenon headlight, that they needed to take off the front bumper to replace my lights. It would cost me close to $800-$1000 and I believed them. The reason for such a high estimate the service advisor told me at Audi is because their labor rate is $195/hr and that it would take about 3-4 hours of labor to change these two headlights. Also, the headlights themselves were going to cost me $217 + tax each. A friend recommended that I take my car in to JM Motorsport. I spoke to John and he told me he could get me the the parts and do the labor for $300 (depends on your problem). The parts cost me the most because they ARE expensive headlights on this car. His main technician Andy had the headlights replaced in 3 minutes, and it cost me what they said it would. Count it folks, 3 minutes and not 3-4 hours like the Audi dealer told me. I am so happy to have been recommened to JM Motorsports. They do not cheat their customers, they could have told me 1-2 hours or more worth of work and didn't. They are very honest and they are very affordable and they do amazing work. I am going to write and call my service department at the Audi dealer and raise a stink. I could see if the car did need to have some work on it done throught the bumper as I was told, and that the labor costs were going to be high, but to flat out lie to their customer is blatant disrespect and disloyal. I know it costs money to get ones car fixed, but you shouldn't have to lose your pants in doing so, and JM Motorsport really took good care of me while NOT ripping me off. These guys are the only mechanics for luxury cars that are also able to consultant with you the most suitable way to fix your car in relation to your budget. Every time I have a problem with my mercedes, they first give me diagnostics with no charge, then they layout all the possible options and recommend the best solution to go about the fixes, and have always optimized my budget to the best effect. Last time I was there, I had to replace a very expensive part, which I couldn't effort at the time, they managed to go through the hard route of fixing my defected part instead of replacing it, which would've cost me thousands of dollars to replace, and worked the rest of my budget towards other critical fixes. I've taken two cars there this year (Maserati & Tesla) as I didn't trust the Maserati dealership on their recommendations or prices and wanted some aftermarket work done on the Tesla. They went above and beyond - realizing that trust, good work, and reasonable prices mean return customers and great word of mouth advertising. Found out I didn't need my brakes replaced "immediately" as warned by the Maserati dealer, but when I did need them done later I went straight to JM. He performed the B service and replaced an auxiliary battery which was coming up on the warning panel. Everything was completed before the promised time and at no time did he try to up sell me. Did I mention the fact that the same B service at a certain unnamed dealer who rhymes with fleas charges $499 and JM was considerably less. Took my Mercedes in because I had taken it to the MB dealership twice for a stalling issue which they couldn't fix. John immediately diagnosed what he thought the issue was and so I made an appointment for this AM . Jim called about 2 hours later and said he diagnosed and repaired a part-car is working perfectly. He also removed a built-in radar detector the previous owner had installed and two other places I had taken to couldn't figure out how to remove it! I made a really silly mistake and put gasoline in my 2014 GLK Bluetec Mercedes. Encino Mercedes quoted me $9,700 and was going to a bunch of unnecessary maintenance to my car. They were charging almost $200/hr for labor. Thank God a client recommend me to John at JM Motor Sports. They flushed my engine, took care of me and I only paid $500: $100 for a tow and $400 for the service. These guys are super nice, very honest, and I HIGHLY recommend them. I just moved to Los Angeles from San Francisco and my car (Mercedes c230 kompressor) needed a Service A immediately, it was 2300 miles over... I know I know. So after looking around and calling every shop, I finally found Studio City Mercedes Service. I have to say talking to the gentlemen on the phone felt more friendly verses other service shops. He gave me a quote of 150 for the service. When I got there, after driving around wondering where the shop was, I was immediately greeted. After my information was given they immediately took my car in and went to work, only taking 30 minutes or less. After everything was finished, I was escorted by the owner and discussed further maintenance and replacements for my car and talked about cars, business and so on and so forth. He asked me what the gentleman told me how much it would be, I responded 150. He dropped 25 dollars off making it the cheapest and most speediest service I had ever experienced! That's what I call service! I highly recommend this place for those who are on a slim budget and in need for a quick service. I will definitely be coming back in the future. Note: the shop is kind of hidden and easy to miss. So drive slowly. It is located up a hill behind pep boys. read more

This is the my go to Place for Mercedes. was referred this place by an Yelper and I am much obliged for the reference I got. This is a Double Review (one for the Service B done in August 2016 and one for Service A done in October 2017). sorry Andy for the Delayed review. Got my car serviced by Andy both the times. Got Service B in 2016 and time taken was around 2 hours with half the price of what Dealerships charge.. since i drive ~ 30 miles to this place, i waited in their small sitting area (don't expect the lounge area to be classy as dealerships). all i needed was a place to sit and they got it.. if one can save 50% on the service cost and a great service, who needs a big lounge and amenities (this is the way to get ripped off). Got Service A in 2017 and time Andy took was less than 30 minutes (I am not kidding). The moment i entered the place and got out of the car at 8 AM on Saturday, Andy pulled the car in and started working without any delay.. Once I had a 'Check Coolent Level' message and I panicked. Called up Andy and Andy even provided over the phone support and told me to add Water, and later when I went for a quick check up, he said its normal and didn't even charge a single penny for looking into it (who does that ?) It's just behind pep boys and if you don't look carefully, you are gonna miss this place.. Kudos to Andy and his team... you guys are just Amazing. read more
