They removed my old gel with an efile and then soaked off the rest after before filling down the cuticles and shaping my nails into the perfect oval shape. Usually I get nervous when I see the efile come out but I'm at ease here since they are so careful and meticulous with their work, never experienced any burning sensation on my nail bed. My nails were checked between each coat to make sure the edges and color were even. The lotion and paraffin wax were soothing for my dry skin. I absolutely do not recommend this spot, I always get hard gel, Aka Uv gel and I pay a maximum of $70-$80 when it's for a fresh set and about $55-$65 for a refill. I was leaving on vacation and my lady had a family emergency so I was desperate to find a place, I found this spot on Yelp and contacted them for a refill. I was directed to their app and saw that it was $110 for a fill in! $110?!! And let's be clear, I do not add color to my gel nails because I like the natural look so all that's needed is a top gel coat. But let's not forget I was leaving the country on vacation and I was desperate to get them fixed, I knew I was being robbed but I had to fix my nails. I got to the salon and it's the smallest studio I've ever seen with three tables, and no window. Claustrophobic. Sue was my technician and upon getting there she says- "I just want to tell you it's $120 and not $110 like you saw" I was flabbergasted and responded- "you're telling me that I have to pay more than $110 because you failed to update your website? I'm confused at this point but what can I do. I say to myself this is a one time thing but the nails better be filed and filled to perfection like it was God himself who did them for that price. My dear yelpers, it was honestly the worst nails I've ever gotten in my life, compared to where I paid $65. Sue refused to place the hard gel close to my cuticles and that would have made them lift quite fast, according to her she's been doing nails for over ten years, and she knows her craft. Im respond that I understand but I've been doing my nails for over 7 years too and since I'm a paying customer I decide how I want my nails to look. After a lot of back and forth with me insisting that I want my moneys worth, / and insisting that she does what the client wants, Sue reluctantly added some more powder to the edge of the nails, but it was quite evident she didn't know what she was doing. Or maybe that is their technique to get clients coming back faster for a refill, and if that's the case that's just wrong. I am absolutely in love with Sweety Salon and the entire staff. Everyone does amazing work and takes care of your nails. The salon is extremely clean and well ventilated. I know they use high quality products and gel because my nails last 1 month+ without any chipping, despite always getting complicated nail art which requires multiple coatings of gel. I started going to the salon a few months ago and I have experienced tremendous nail growth without any damage to my natural nails. I usually see Nalee or Sunny for my monthly honey gel + complicated nail art. Nalee and Sunny are two of the nicest nail techs and people, in general. They take their time with removing and re-adding gel. I always provide such extra nail art designs, but somehow they always come through and exceed my expectations. Sweety has been my nail salon for almost 3 full years! I've never had a complaint about my nails. My gel nails easily last 5 weeks with zero to minimal chips. I usually take a few months of break just to let my nails breathe but I always come back. I had a Harry Potter design when I went to universal studios (by nahlee who I love talking to) and amazing 9D cats eye nails (literally eye catching- people would just stare at my nails). When the owner is in, she always knows who I am and asks how law school is which is such a nice feeling that she remembers who I am :) I got a gel manicure right before quarantine so I'm growing it out. I used to LOVE sweety nails, but unfortunately, over the past year, their quality of service has rapidly deteriorated. I used to be a regular, but now, the manicures are extremely rushed. Yesterday they had confirmed my pedicure appointment, but 10 minutes later when I called back, they said they were too busy. I understand it's a busy salon, but customers time is valued very little here. I constantly had to wait upward of 15 minutes for my appointment that I made well in advance, but if the customer is later by more than a few minutes, they're penalized very heavily (vagaro.com charges $60 for missed or late appointment at this place). They do not value customer loyalty. Their filing quality has deteriorated and manicures are WILDLY INCONSISTENT based on who does your manicure. Their services are pricier than most salons in the area. They use the filing machine to remove the gel color which thinned my nails so much that drying on the UV machine became unbearably painful. Do yourselves a favor, and go to JN nails across the street. You're welcome! read more

Plus I feel connected to my heritage when I'm around other Koreans - something I haven't necessarily grown up with. I used to love Sweety but I guess I can't do so anymore. Jenna, who used to be my technician is not here anymore. I would state the point of my long review here: do not book with Kelly!!!! Be aware many of talented Sweety techs went back to Korea or left the city. Pretty disappointed how they've changed over the past year while they've been through Covid. Since I moved out to Jersey from NYC during the pandemic, visiting Sweety was also a while for me, also I spent an hour to get to Sweety. I had an appointment with Kelly and I showed her the reference pic which required 3d thumb nails and all different colors for the rest of 4 nails each hand. They charged $2 per extra colors, ok I didn't think it's good but it was acceptable. I remember they said they charge $15 for 3d nails so I was like ok. But Kelly simply messed up coloring the 3d thumbs and I didn't want to pay for poor nails. Who wants to waste their money? She tried to place chain around the edge of thumb nails but it was shorter than it was supposed to be so didn't fully cover the edge and looked weird. I told her the way I wanted to be fixed and she tried few times, then made kind of tired face. Then she said "I can just remove if you don't like your thumbs", ok fine so i said yes please. Then she said "if you are free tomorrow I can finish your thumbs tomorrow" ......????what you saying? If I say no I'm not free tomorrow then were you just gonna kick me out even though your work is not done? Apparently she said that because she was worried about the next appointment customers who were waiting next to me, but yes I'm also a customer who pays and I still think she said pretty dumb thing to me to get the next customers. The rest of work was also pretty mess. I changed my mind to place one charms each on my thumbs, usually Sweety staffs ask me on which part of the nail I'd like to put it. Kelly? Nah this lady didn't ask me anything. Just on the middle, no communication. She didn't ask any of my opinion, she just rushed, applied top coat and just finished! I paid $95 including tips (I really didn't want to tip her but yeh it's not for the outcome, it's for her time) so it def was not cheap nails but what I experienced was HORRIBLE. If she didn't mess up the 3d nails in the first place, she didn't need to tell me the dumb thing and I didn't need to see her rushing to get her next customer. Shitty experience ever. This is for my 9/18 visit in the new location. I moved to Brooklyn in February and luckily found this place pretty quickly and really loved the time and detail they took in doing your nails. I don't want to take that away from them, they are great at doing nails and designs.... most of the time. I was very disappointed in my last visit. I text at 10am to make an appointment. I was confirmed for 3:30 which was prefect. I showed up at 3:28 and there was 1 girl getting just started, another what looked to be finishing up and another getting a pedi. The ladies that work there said hi and I took a seat to wait.... and wait... and wait. Not for 15 mins, not 30 but an hour! Not once was I acknowledged to say sorry or reschedule, nothing. The only reason I stayed is because 1. I had paid for the parking so I would have paid for nothing to just leave. 2. They took me after 45mins to wrap my nails in foil to get my old gel off. Which kind of traps you into staying. So one of the ladies does the foil on my nails after wrapping the other girl's nails and then goes back to her. So again I'm just sitting waiting until another 15 mins go by, we are at the hour mark now 4:30. At this point the girl getting the pedi is done and moved on to getting a mani. And the girl getting the design is still getting the design (!) and just laughing it up joking, while I have been waiting and wasting my time. Finally I get seen, only to be told that she will start me off and one of the other girls is going to finish my nails. Wait, what? At this I ask how much longer am I going to wait because you know it's been over an hour. She looks up and just gives me a look and just makes huh noise and says not much longer. Then I say you know I could have been texted to say they were running behind and again she really doesn't say anything, just 'oh well you know' ad trails off. Another thing I really disliked: I was asked if I wanted to cut my nails, I have long talon nails (pointy), I said half and to keep the shape. She does not file, she cuts the lazy way in my opinion when they cut on the sides. I always felt like it makes the nails feel rough and thin. And she cut way too much length off. It was definitely more the half. She did ask if I liked the shape, I didn't but I said yes because honestly I was so sad at this point and didn't think they would actually care. So she hurriedly cuts, shapes and sort of files my nails while making small talk ONLY to bring up that she was an hour late because the customer before me couldn't decide what design she wanted and that she had been a customer for 5 years and she thought she had scheduled enough time in- between us.... Are you serious??? So because I have only been going for 7 months I deserve to have sat there for over an hour? I followed them from their midtown location to the Lower east side back to midtown and I live in Brooklyn so basically you told me I don't matter as a customer. And it's not like I'm some cheap customer either I have spent a minimum of 50-100 on my nails there before. She does my nail polish, I had black nail polish on, I don't think it was taken off properly. You actually see a streak of it still on my thump nails over the red. And the kicker, she didn't finish my nails! The lady who put foils on finished the top coat because another customer walked in and she went to start her. Must have been another 5 year customer. So I got there at 3:30 and left at 5:15, for a 30 min gel manicure. Yup you read that right I spent almost 2 hours for only to have 30 mins of actual work done. My mani was 35, my parking was 34. Again there was no sorry we made you wait, no discount, nothing. It was a waste of time and money and I felt so disrespected and unhappy with my nails. My second time was last month a week before they moved locations. I loved my nails and I told sunny I deal with fabrics and my nails tended to change colors because of it. She picked a top coat that will ensure my pale pink nails to maintain its color and it did for the whole 3 weeks. Today I got it done again at the 34st location. Rina took her time and knew exactly how I wanted my nails decorated on top of designing the nail. I wanted pantone color of 2018, so she mixed 2 calgels to get the color I was happy with. Best place for gel manicures & designs!! After years of going back and forth with long tips, pink & whites and acrylic nails, I decided to give my nails "a break" and go for something more natural and shorter. For someone who works in the city, this has been an absolute gem to find. Chipping, thin/weak nails, rigid lines from new growth, color fading, lifting and peeling are just reasons why I never opted for a gel manicure. Thankfully, I haven't experienced any of those ever since I started to visit Sweety Nails earlier this year. I use my hands a lot and even kickbox. Sure, I've come in with a broken nail or a tiny chip here and there. But my nails have lasted me FOREVER (3 weeks). I usually call to make an appointment, which I highly recommend. All of the nail technicians are nice and professional. Unlike some salons, they are gentle with their tools and take their time! If you have a nail design in mind, just show them a picture and they will do it --but better! It will cost extra in most cases but they let you know right away. For a gel manicure, I am there for at least an hour, this includes soaking off the nails, shaping and cutting the nails, trimming the cuticles, applying the gel polish, hand massage and even a hand treatment at the end which makes my hands feel so soft! The best is that they always reassure me to visit within 2 weeks in case anything happens to my nails. The quality of their work is amazing and it shows. My cuticles are healthy and even once the gels are soaked off, it's nice to see that my natural nails are not as brittle and weak. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone! read more

I had a terrible experience, my nail tech Elena had an attitude she was rushing and didn't pay attention to work she is doing. Ok, so I really like the location of this place, it's upstairs inside the ny market on 34th and I decided to get my nails done on my trip here from LA. I initially really did like the way my nails turned out even though the lady didn't get all of my old polish off. Side note, my old polish was a dark green and she didn't do a very thorough job of getting everything off my cuticles and painted over the green that was left on my nails too. The end product was that some of my nails looked dirty due to the leftover residue and looked like I had mold or something on my fingers -_- wasn't happy about that, but it wasn't a big deal after I got home and scraped/cut it off myself. My biggest complaint is that after I took off the polish, there was an indentation in my nails from the tool that was used. Not sure what it's called, but it was like an electric nail filer?? Sorry I'm no expert in the terms but at first I thought it was leftover gel but upon further inspection, the lines I saw were all indented!! I'm so sad that they shaved into my real nails and they are now ruined. Even when I paint over them, you can see the indentation and I need to wait for them to grow out. Please be careful and tell your person not to use that tool on your real nails. I understand if I was getting a pedicure since I've seen that used before on my toes but never ever my manis. On February 17, I walked out of Sweety Nails a very happy customer; however, on March 17 it was a whole opposition. I initially went in and paid $70.00 for a FULL SET of SNS tips and and additionally $60.00 for design. I also tipped the staff $20.00 for great service. I was thrilled and referred a few people to them. So of course I would be excited to return. On March 17, I had a very poor experience. I went to get my nails FILLED IN, as I sat down, the girl assigned to my nails begins to tell me my FILL IN would be $90.00. So my question to her was "how is a full in $90.00 when I only paid $70.00 for the set" the owner then chimes in a states they changed the product. She was rude, dismissive and when I asked her if they were providing me with a new set, she kept repeating "we don't do that service any longer" I left highly upset. Fast forward to when I get home. I looked at their IG page and it is clearly stated "SNS-50" the same product I have on my nails, the same product THEY put on. So, I then let my friends and family know on my IG of the horrible experience and PRICE GOUGING that goes on here. The owner "Sunny" then starts commenting on my IG stating "how would you like it if I put this on my page" and so on. Then to top it off, posts me on her personal IG Page and states a lawsuit for defamation will come up in not so many words because I am personally boycotting them. This shows exactly the type of place she has. Tourists and New Yorkers STAY AWAY! I am calling consumer affairs on Monday Morning. I have included pictures as well! The artists are quite talented here; however, it is clear the owner is completely money hungry, which explains why the short leases in the flea markets. STAY AWAY!!!!! Now the definition of defamation states: the act of making untrue statements about another which damages his/her reputation. If the defamatory statement is printed or broadcast over the media it is libel and, if only oral, it is slander. Public figures, including officeholders and candidates, have to show that the defamation was made with malicious intent and was not just fair comment. Damages for slander may be limited to actual (special) damages unless there is malice. Some statements such as an accusation of having committed a crime, having a feared disease or being unable to perform one's occupation are called libel per se or slander per se and can more easily lead to large money awards in court and even punitive damage recovery by the person harmed. Most states provide for a demand for a printed retraction of defamation and only allow a lawsuit if there is no such admission of error. I have not stated anything untrue. I stated what my experience was VERBATIM. And as I looked the business up under the Department of Corporations, nothing in Manhattan comes up, only 2 in Queens. I will be contacting the registered agent from the Whitestone location as well. It's one thing for an owner to speak on this professionally, it's a whole next thing to post an unhappy customer on social media and try to threaten them with legal action about speaking a truth on the experience they received. Now again her update is threatening me with legal action. I also own a small business, and I also have a TEAM of attorneys. I have the constitutional right to speak on ANY experience I have received good or bad, on a platform. Nothing I have stated is untrue or biased. I am an UNHAPPY consumer who you tried to price gouge. And that is a well known business practice in high density tourist areas. Overall, the customer service is really good. They were able to take me in without a reservation. I got a gel manicure and pedicure. Although they have a lot of variety and colors the way that they applied it was a little too thick and it chipped very quickly. I wasn't too happy about how they took off my cuticles. Usually they would let it soak. However, they used a file drill to sand it down, wasn't painful or anything, but it was more of ripping the skin than actually removing it. I'm not too sure that I would come again for another manicure, but it looks like they do different styles very well. read more

I've been here 2.5 time already and I think I finally found a go-to nail spot. I won't tell you the name of my favorite technician because I already have hard time getting a hold of her, but she's amazing! The first time I came, two of my nails were messed up during a week long trip away. When I called and explained the situation I was told to stop by and see her. She was super gracious and didn't badger me about the mishap like most places do. Best of all she fixed it free of charge. Most places will make you feel guilty for such a small incident that it was refreshing to not have to argue. The second time I stopped by I left satisfied with my nails. I came in for a fill in of extension gel and new color and pedicure gel. Super recommended that you book even a month in advance. Some afternoons and evenings they're incredibly busy and they work well as a team to make sure the customers are attended soon. Jenna and Sue worked in my nails but Jenna did most of the work including pedicure gel. Jenna has got to be one of the most detailed workers and has patience. Update: a day later, it one finger chipped but rest is fine. I'm in need of a gel manicure for my bday and upcoming holiday parties. I stumbled upon this cute little shop inside the Broadway market while I was shopping in Soho. I was initially greeted by someone and she was kinda cold when I asked her about the yelp $5 discounts. Then she was surprised that I wanted to do manicure.. I guess they just opened up? So that was an rocky start and got me kinda worried. Luckily the girl who was doing my nails was really sweet. She was detail oriented and made sure nails were the same shape and were painted evenly close to the cuticle. I got the burgundy color and it turned out great. Very happy with my nails.. the price is $30 for the color gel which is not bad at all for new York city. And $25 after the discount which is amazing. I will return again. read more

I made an appointment today at their new Rivington location down by Essex. I requested the earliest appointment, but upon arriving there were already 3 others there. Luckily, I took the last seat, but Sue was already with another client. Sunny helped me with my nails and design today. It was absolutely gorgeous!! The design was very simple and elegant, just the way I would like it. Always looking forward to the next design and visit with these amazing girls! So well done and completely hassle free. I am a huge fan of detail and consideration when my nails are being done. I'm also afraid of pain and being cut lol so I don't like to go unless I have to.
