This was my first time visiting this nail salon & I will not visit again for several reasons. The first being the culture of the salon. The first nail tech that I sat down with was unpleasant. She cut me once with the drill bit and when I flinched and told her she got too close to the cuticle with the machine, her response was "oh". No apology. I thought that was interesting but moving forward to the shaping process, I asked for square nails, this nail tech kept shaping them round at the edges. When I asked her to make adjustments, her response was "I'll get the manager".... But I didn't ask for the manager, all I wanted was for her to make the nail shape more square than round :/. Manager comes over, and she's petting my hands saying "it's ok ok, don't be upset" but I truly wasn't upset. I don't know why they were treating me like I was making a scene or something. Anyway, she begins making the corrections I was asking for, then she says" check to make sure it's right, check all 10 fingers to make sure" which came off extremely passive aggressive. Towards the end of the appointment, I was charged $91 for a short, square, fill in with gel color, no designs. This was BY FAR the worse pedicure I have ever gotten in my entire life. My technician did it in 8 minutes and once a new customer came in she picked up and left me hanging and didn't even apply a top coat to my nails. I opted to leave a cash tip but after the experience I had, I thought that the nearly $37 dollars I had already given them was more than enough for the terrible service I had received. On my way out, I was called back in to give them a tip in cash! I felt obligated and crumpled up $1 and gave it to her. I will never go back there. This place needs to be shut down. First timer and I got a dip powder manicure with extensions / chrome and the cheapest spa pedicure (~$45 iirc). They have an ATM and discount if you pay in cash. Powder is cheaper than the other option sitting around $80. Jenny serviced me for the whole mani pedi experience. She did a no nonsense job with my pedicure. Her craftsmanship shined with my hands. Jenny applies the firm pressure and steady hand of a tenured surgeon. The attentive, meticulous manner of a pastry chef who laminates painstaking layers of powder on each of my almond shaped nails. I've lived in NYC for 15 years and this was one of the worst manicures I've ever had. I'm really shocked at the good reviews (maybe it was my technician). She spent zero time on any step of the process - lotion was put on half the hands or half the feet and not rubbed in (but wiped off with a towel), she was very rough with cutting and filing. Zero attention to any extras (like offering to wrap my feet). She seemed like she did not want to be there or do her job. It was pathetic. 45 min for a $55 (with tip) mani and pedi. Oh and my nails look like they've been filed by a 10 year old child (she didn't know how to file square with round edges). But no polish on the skin, so I guess that's a win. read more

Normally I get GelX or SNS every time and I LOVE my results. Meiling and her other main girl are fantastic every time! I'll never go anywhere else for my manicures. I always come to this location for my gel nails. Absolutely love my nails every time! I always visit with a design in mind and they were able to make it happen every time! All staff are so friendly and patient as well. Most recently Meiling did my Christmas design nails and I am in love with it! The snowflake and Christmas tree details are all so well done! I really do not understand the 4.5 stars. This is a SUBPAR nail salon for what it is. Only 2 positives. One is that they don't dip your fingers in water which I like bc it makes your nail polish last longer. Second is they use a liner in the pedicure tub. Cons: This place is gross. I did not witness them using a new package of tools on me. Maybe they did. Can't confirm. But what I can confirm as I looked around is that all the metal tools are rusted. Thats nasty!! This paint job looks like it was done by a child. Paint on the sides of my fingers. Too chunky in certain areas. She painted on top of my cuticle which is a big no no. Not only does this make the manicure look like crap it makes the polish lift. Also, why do all of my nails (fingers and toes) not look smooth. The towel I had my feet on for the pedicure was stiff as a rock and rough. The nail polishes are all over the place. Everything is covered in dust. At 38 bucks for a mani pedi this place should be charging far far less for this quality. I was almost going to walk out with no tip but the owner and technician practically hunted me down with their eyes. Also, the 4.5 star rating lures more people in which makes them busy and rush your service. The owner is running around like a lunatic. Not peaceful or enjoyable at all. I'm not from New York but recently moved here so I'm trying to find a salon as AMAZING as the one from home. This one was not it. I don't know if it's a New York thing, but another salon that cuts your cuticles while dry? Wtf? She filed the cuticles DRY with a NAIL FILE then clipped them (terribly). They don't soak your nails in water. She used the drill to file off the top layer of polish before soaking the polish off. The painting wasn't good. She was so fast, the polish isn't smooth. And my cuticles look terrible. Won't go back. After looking at a lot of the photos closely, I can see even with the good reviews the polish is not smooth. I guess in New York people aren't used to having perfect manicures but there shouldn't be a dent, a bubble, a scratch in the polish. read more

Update: Mei Ling, the owner, was rude to me, but she was absolutely awful to her workers. She yelled at the one who was doing my nails and later physically shoved her out of her chair. I won't support a place who treats their workers like this. Every time I make an appointment at this place I have to wait upwards of 20 minutes. After 20 minutes I just leave. Lackluster spa gel pedicure - my feet are still rough on the heels, the extended length foot massage was more of my legs than my feet and my nails are not shaped or finished with smooth round edges. I had to come home and file many areas as I noticed unequal and jagged areas. The gel is pooled in the corners and cuticles as well so it doesn't appear smooth and will likely grow out poorly. Wow!!! After reading some of the reviews, I was a bit hesitant to stop by for my mani/pedi. Boy am I happy I did! I recently moved in across the street so this place could not be any more convenient! I didn't have an appointment but they happily had me take a throne for my pedi! Jenny was my nail tech and she is truly a gem! Super friendly and paid great attention to detail! I did a pedi that came with a great 10 min foot massage and a manicure with Essie gel couture. This is some awesome polish. It's not legit gel that you can't take off, it's a polish that looks like gel but you can remove with reg ol nail polish remover. An added benefit, I got a 15 minute neck and back chair massage! I swear, this place is awesome, clean, fast and friendly! I have zero complaints. I will definitely be stopping in before we head back to Vegas for Christmas! After back to back weeks of travel, my nails were looking mighty suspect. So I made a quick little pit stop here after work to get a little cuticle TLC. Because I didn't have an appointment, I walked-in. Luckily, there was only one other person getting their nails done so there was no wait. (Which I found surprising for an area with so much foot traffic!) Things started off a little slow when I was told I could sit in the chair for my pedicure. However, the nail tech just pointed in the general direction and walked away. I kind of figured it was the last chair in the row, but he just walked away and really didn't say anything more. I sat for about 5 mins, my feet above the waterless bowl just wondering what was going on and curious about my nail techs whereabouts. When he came back, he started prepping the bowl while I sat and then continued to a rather rushed pedicure that was executed with indifference. He didn't even ask if I wanted my nails cut down, filed or inquired about the shape. He just started cutting, which was a bummer because immediately he cut the first so low that I then perked up to pay closer attention to what he was doing. Overall, my experience was just okay. The service was lackluster and there was no real hospitality. My nails got painted and I kept it moving, however with so many nail places nearby to discover I would prefer to try elsewhere next time. read more

First time coming to Meicasa. I was looking for a place that does Nail design and I realize that i am still on the hunt. It truly is so difficult to find a place that you can bring a picture to mimic or to serve as inspo and get what it is that you desired. I guess I am just looking for a place that can get a bit more creative and may be a bit more advanced with their design skills HOWEVER the women that work here are pretty stellar and very evidently hard workers. They are booked and busy, despite being on a side street in prime Murray Hill/Kips Bay. Space is no frills, get er done type vibes and could stand for a bit of a refresh. I got a full dip powder set w extensions and simple design and it cost me $114 well $134 w a well deserved tip to the wonderful and patient woman who applied and filed me down to perfection. Considering the neighborhood, this price point is on par, but it definitely isn't quite worth that and would be substantially different if the same job was done further uptown. Nails were fine, but I felt like the design pastels could have been more opaque and it was clear to me that it required an addtl. coat, but I could tell that the 2nd woman who did the design had to move on. I could easily have mentioned, but an OG nail tech should be able to peep when another even coat application is necessary...although some avoid for fear of lengthening dry time, increasing chances of smudging or premature chipping. They have a thoughtful policy that allows one to return within a week if there are any nail issues that arise. I got these done on memorial weekend (14 days ago today) and a few nails are already starting to lift, which sucks because I think they should have lasted a bit longer. I have had sets last up to a month, albeit they were acrylic, but still. I also haven't even had substantial enough nail growth that would warrant a fill in this quickly. On a side note, the music was insanely good. Whoever picked the station definitely has the goods to take up dji-ng on the side. read more

Overall this was a disappointing experience. The nail technician rushed and was snippy to me the entire time. I was under the impression that I was getting a gel manicure and regular pedicure for $63, as advertised on their sign. When it came to the checkout, she said it was $87, because she had massaged my legs for a few minutes. She was unclear when giving me me pedicure options that this was far more expensive- it was obvious that this was her intention. Updated review. I've been coming here for about 9 months now and I would definitely recommend their services. Like every establishment, there are pros and cons. Pros: great prices compared to other salons in the neighborhood, the nail techs spend a good amount of time painting your nails while being very attentive, you can come in within a week to fix any nail problems, my gel mani usually lasts for 2-3 weeks and dip powder 3-4 weeks, and there is a large variety of colors to choose from. For dip powder, Sasha is great! Cons: making an appointment doesn't ensure you'll be seen promptly but they're getting better at honoring appointment times. Though they do check your temperature, they don't seem to sanitize enough (massage chairs, nail stations, etc.). There are only 3-4 techs there at a time so it can get pretty packed (it's a small place) with people getting their nails done and people waiting. In the end, I do think that the pros outweigh the cons. Suggestions: make an appointment but still call before you go to check if there's a wait, pay with cash or Venmo if you want to avoid additional fees, and check out their mani pedi specials! read more
