I had such a nice salad here. We sat outside on a picture perfect day and it was so peaceful. It's a great place to enjoy a relaxing meal. My salad was supposed to have crispy shrimp but I ordered them grilled instead and they came out perfectly. I will definitely be back. The server at JoJo Apples was super sweet and attentive (Katherine). No food order was messed up, only issue was we weren't seated with proper amount of appetizer plates and short some set-ups. My mother also left her cell phone on the table and when I called back they had already found it and secured it. Jo Jo Apples is where I treat myself to breakfast or brunch on the weekends. The service is friendly and the food is great. I live in Long Beach and wish there was a place there to sit outside and enjoy a beautiful day while eating my breakfast. Jo Jo's has a charming side patio where you can do just that. It gets a bit too crowded inside so I'd rather wait for an outside table if I have time. I didn't give them 5 stars because I think they're a little overpriced and once the table was not clean when I was seated. read more

I have frequented JoJo Apples since it was a tiny place with port-holes for windows and no outdoor seating unless you wanted to brown-bag it in your car :) JoJo's has been an "alternate kitchen" and "home to me" since I was in my twenties - which was, as some say, was many moons ago. At any rate - suffice it to say that there is a certain sentimentality which may color my feelings about JoJo's -whether I was sitting in the long-ago JoJo's as a young woman studying for graduate exams or writing poems and would-be novels - or as a married woman enjoying a bite out with or without the 'kids' I grew along with JoJo's ... Since this is not a novel ... I will fast forward to present day .... Since Sandy when my husband and I as so many others had no kitchen - JoJo's became home, in a very real sense. We both now work from home and eat at JoJo's perhaps 4-5 times a week and often on weekends. The addition of Kim(berly) as chef was absolutely incredible, changing the menu from solid "home-fare" to dinner meals worthy of a fine Manhattan restaurant in quality and presentation. ... and now... although Kim actually merits an entire review all to herself - I'll move along ... The entire wait staff in JoJo's throughout the hard times of Sandy and through the surge in popularity which now has vaulted "my" little out of the way place to huge popularity is absolutely top-notch - .... extremely friendly and absolutely accommodating - in fact when new staff members are brought on they are rigorously tutored in the "ways of JoJo's" by owner Gail - In fact, it is this accomodation and amicable interaction that separates JoJo's from 'just another" small restaurant to a place that so many choose to return to again and again. However, it seems that one person on this site has chosen to lambast the staff and to single out a particular seasoned member of the wait staff for a particularly unpleasant "roasting' - obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinion but the manner in which this person chose to express her or himself begs to addressed. The "reviewer" complained about service from staff members in general and one in particular, disrespectfully referred to in the review as "Flo" - in fact, this woman's name is Janice - she is a highly educated woman and an absolute joyful addition to any meal which I have enjoyed at JoJo's. Her wit and friendly humor - the time she takes to get to know her customers from their very first visit is welcomed with open arms from - infants in arms to the most elderly of senior citizens. Perhaps, the "reviewer" in his or her snarky and frankly obnoxious review is simply too limited to understand humor and irony - that is a shame - this individual will miss out on much in life if this is the case. As said, everyone, including this mean spirited reviewer and fiance are entitled to their own opinions - however the ugly tone of ridicule and lampooning was and is, unjust, and unfair. Given the burgeoning popularity of JoJo's I for one am just as happy that someone as humorless as this individual will be absent from one of my favorite establishments. With all due respect I would like to once again commend Janice, Nancy, Suzanne, Sheryl, Sarah, Christina, Eileen, Pinar, Lorna, Geta, Donna, Linda, new-comer Allison and of course Deb and Pam and Mary upfront and center (apologies to anyone I might inadvertently have forgotten) to highlight just a few of the wonderful staff at JoJo's and to give each and every one of these hard-working and delightful staffers 5 stars and an extra sparkle for Janice's unending kindness and humor to all. Bravo to JoJo's and a round of applause. I had to go to the bar to fill our water glasses and napkins, for the waiter was no were to be found after he took our order. I had the corn beef Rubin , which looked tasty, yet on my first bit it could not swallow , it had so much grizzle, bread was not toasted. My wife had stomach problems this morning and spent most of her morning reading in the BR. she had the Mix vegetable Frittata with a side of oil. Only one person was one truly friendly, everyone else had a hard time smiling except when it came to taking our money. After all said and done and washed up after our meal, I said it was nice to see our waiter again. Then the Waiter came out to the parking lot to complain about his tip, WHAT service ? My wife and little girl were with me, and this is totally inappropriate behavior. I am old fashion, I believe someone should have to earn a TIP. It it a beautiful Day in October, Columbus Day. A friend suggests we meet at JoJo Apples. I've never been and said sounds good... Not so much. Food is really only so... so! The iced tea we where served was rancid!! The best part of our meal came at about 15 minutes into eating outside on this beautiful day... The SEWER truck came to empty the SEWER!!! Do you think that anyone with HALF a brain would have scheduled it on a different day... or how about very early in the morning... Wait service was terrible and the food so so... but the stench of the sewer being cleaned was the "icing on the cake" to never return. read more

This was my third attempt at JoJo Apples, my neighborhood hot spot. I realized that this was my last attempt ! I went on Sunday morning, between crowds and many patrons come between church attendance... so it wasn't ridiculously crazy. Still the staff remained as rude as ever and the food was ok. My waitress had an attitude as if she were running but as I sat inside there were three other tables occupied and MANY servers available. After we ate and went to pay the check the woman at the register did not even acknowledge us standing there she just put out her hand for the payment. After I signed the bill, I said "thank you, have a nice day" and she had the nerve to ignore me and walk away!!! No business can afford to be RUDE and impolite to the customers ! JoJo Apples isn't worth my time, effort and money; there are so many more options, I recommend taking your business elsewhere. We don't need to pay for poor treatment and inconsideration ! JoJo Apples is our Favorite restaurant/Bistro to go in ALL of New York's Long Island! The food is fresh healthy and satisfying. Guests are treated like welcome friends and the food is stupendous! It's a one of a kind American/French/European style bistro w/ je ne c'est quoi! We tried there healthy seasonal breakfasts, lunches brunches & dinners from Spring to summer. Where meals are served in the diners choice of inside, under the canopy or they way we love most outside 'al fresco' with our small (WELL BEHAVED) dogs. We can't say enough about JoJo Apples, this is a glorious setting and bistros atmosphere coupled with the great affordable cuisine plus TO MY MIND it's in the happiest town in AMERICA! it's It 15 miles per hour everywhere and EVERYONE is friendly smiling walking and riding bikes everywhere! hello yelp. today I ate at Jo Jo Apples café. first thing when I walked in smelliness. Second thing snobby host at the front who gave me dirty looks. I told her I wanted a table for one and she she was extremely rude and ignored me. I decided to sit my own self because no one else could and then ordered eggs which were brown. then went to the bathroom and fell into a toilet because it's so small and I could not go anywhere. that's not the end of the story. and I got myself out of the toilet, my hair what is wet and it dripped on my food. this was so disappointing. halfway through my meal a waitress came over and asked me if I was done. I said absolutely not and then stormed out of that place but then realized I didn't pay. my Husband and I had dinner there tonight, half way though my salmon, the taste started to change. I started to cut it open, this half was raw.The bus girl came and my husband told the girl this half of the fish is raw. They offer a dessert. I just paided $20.00 for a salmon half raw!! The outdoor dining patio that was formerly sealed with plastic was now opened. The reason I go to JOJO Apples is to enjoy the fresh Atlantic Ocean air, and sun in Pt Lookout. I enjoy the friendly ladies at JOJO apples. The terrace outdoor patio tables are charming. The little red and yellow flower planters decorate nicely. As far as the food...we ordered poached eggs that were served overcooked, next time we will ask for soft poached. The coffee was good. The service was friendly. The fruit salad needed grapes or pineapples since it was just strawberries, and melon. The jams served are high fructose corn syrup. Overall an improvement from the last time we were here. read more

This is my first review because I want to warn other diners to stay away.This place is dirty, the food is awful and the service people need prozac! How can you screw up breakfast? The food came out cold, the pancakes were undercooked, the potatoes seemed as though the had been on the grill for weeks. Food is delicious! Wish I had any other waitress then the one we had. As I observed the other waitresses they were actually nice and attentive to their customers. Ours asked if we wanted coffe as she was still walking by. Asked how our meal was as she was walking by, never stopped to actually get an answer. I wanted more coffee. Never refilled our coffee, had to ask the busboy for more when he cleared our plates and as he was going to pour a second cup the waitress tried to pull him away to pour a different table coffee. Went to JoJo Apples for dinner last night. I have been there a few times for breakfast and lunch, since service and food were good before I wanted to have dinner there. I was in for an unpleasant surprise!! Our waiter was extremely rude!! There were four of us and only two menus given, when I asked her for two other menus, she raised her voice and said that she didn't understand me!! For crying out aloud!!! Once I assure her that I knew what she was trying to do, in no uncertain terms and a firm voice, she produced two more menus. We asked for Flat Tire IPA's and she served us something else!! She took her time serving the appetizer and we have to asked another waitress for silverware!! It took her over an hour to bring food to the table. I have to say, the waitress looked very angry and rushed, she should look for a job were she doesn't have to deal with customers. Once food was served it was a disappointment! My pasta was undercooked, I sent it back and came back 15 minutes later with dry tomato sauce and very salted! Completely inedible. My friends food didn't fare any better!! Chicken Cordon Bleu was covered with a brown sauce that tried to cover up it's dryness!!!! And so it was the JoJo's chicken!! Fish was compared by my friend to a TV dinner!! I complained to waitress who came to ask how everything was about how terrible my food was and response was: "I'll be right back", I saw her talking to a man behind the counter, however, there was no response at all!! We heard other tables complaining about food too!! I and my friends will not be going there anymore! What a waste of time and money!! Stay away from JoJo Apples. I have always heard great things about this restaurant for breakfast and lunch and was excited to be invited there for dinner with 3 friends. So disappointed. The entire experience was terrible. Other than the lovely woman behind the bar who took our reservation (hence the one star) nothing was acceptable. I realize that Saturday night will be busy but we arrived early (around 7). We were seated quickly, and then it started. We got bread plates, but never any bread. There were 4 of us, but only 3 received cutlery. Waitress was abrupt, ignored our table, and argued with one of our party for speaking loudly to her, when it was only because the level of noise was very high and she seemed not to hear what she was being asked (we were seated indoors). When the food finally came, all 4 dishes were horrendous. Chicken Cordon Blu was tasteless (friend described it as a TV dinner); Seafood Fra Diavolo was under cooked, cold and dry (had to be sent back but came back no better - probably went into a microwave); JoJo Chicken was a plate of sauce with hardly recognizable chicken ; and Sole Oregenata was tasteless and coated with thick layer of breadcrumbs that must have come straight out of a package. Not to mention that after waiting for a long time for the food, waitress announced there were no more baked potatoes (!) - really????? On a Saturday night ???- perhaps that was the only good thing on the menu. Lemon meringue pie was a few steps below what you get from an Entenman's boxed variety. We will never come back here again. Suggestion: get a good chef; train your main waitress on how to be pleasant (being busy does not excuse a bad attitude - she even challenged us on the amount of the tip!). And to top it off, we heard the same complaints about the food from people at at least three other tables around us. There are many better restaurants all around Point Lookout - pick another if you want a good dinner. read more

We went to Jojo Apples for Brunch on a Friday and it was wonderful. I came back 2 weeks later for dinner on a Thursday and was very disappointed. The menu has good choices however my diner (broiled Sole was undercooked which I returned twice. The dinner salad was warm and very small. The waitress staff seem to try very hard but are very slow. The décor is nice and the hostess is warm and friendly. I will only return to order from the breakfast menu which is available all day long. The local diner has better value for their fish entrees. We went there because we wanted to eat outside on nice summer days. read more

Medicore food. Doesn't meet the hype. Amazing waitress however a very un-easy un comfortable environment from the bald manger with a beard. Since we walked in it seemed hostile. He questioned are seat choice and then kept on over looking us with a nasty glare. We ordered a round of drinks and instead of having the waitress asking us for ID's he came storming across the bar like a bat of hell to demand our ID's. We are a group of Young Professionals who are in our late 20s and am totally fine with showing a ID. However when you come over that aggressive and leave us feeling like we are doing something wrong. We were there for the Prime Rib special last Friday night. This is a feature of a hugh slab of decent quality meat cooked correctly and served with fresh vegetables, salad or soup, and dessert with beverage all for under twenty dollars! One of my friends ( a coupon queen - loves those discounts) even got three dollars off the whole bill with her discount sheet. The value of this meal cannot be beat. In addition I have always found this restaurant clean and easy to park your car. My last experience here was a little disaapointing due to a problem with the service, but the staff more than made up for it this time, doing anything possible to make our meal enjoyable; especially the eldest waitress who watched over us as if we were the only customers there despite the place being packed. beautiful day, nice setting with terrific ambiance and all you can think is: there's absolutely NO way anyone could ever screw this up. then the food arrives. possibly, the worst meal i've ever had to pay for in my entire life. then again, the service wasn't good, either. the waitress gave us a look when we pointed to a corner table and asked if we could seat ourselves. [this, on a day where the place was kind of empty.] and then she came, dropped off menus, came back literally two minutes later and said -- are you ready to order or do you think you're gonna need more time? seriously? we ordered a burger and crab cakes and there wasn't seasoning to be found, anywhere. no salt, no pepper, no spices. no nothing. the burger was gray and tasted like it'd been boiled. tasteless. and i mean tasteless. the crab cakes were served with poached egg and hollandaise . . . the english muffin underneath was rock hard. the hollandaise had NO flavor whatsoever. the crab cakes might as well been anything; cardboard, paper mache . . . the meal was a total waste. worse, you could just tell the staff really didn't give a s*** about anything -- other than getting you out of the place ASAP . . . seriously, all these folks needed to do to have an absolutely wonderful place was serve an average meal and be decent. they couldn't manage either of those things. which just goes to show you that you can't save some folks from themselves. our big mistake was that we didn't try the place directly across the street or just hit the local deli and go sit out on one of the nearby piers. either of those choices could have only been better and certainly not worse . . . what a waste. p.s. if yelp had allowed me to pick zero stars this would've been zero stars. consider the lone star for the location and the street scene [and because i had NO choice], not because of anything otherwise related to dojo apples . . . read more
