My 3rd time here and am over the hype of the pancakes and French toast. The last few times we had the apple stuffed French toast and although heavy, it was delicious. Today we had omelettes and chocolate chip pancakes. The kids pancakes were so thin, it was like a crepe. Good but not what I expected...worse was that they WATERED DOWN the juice ! My child told me it tasted like water, so I tasted it and YES it was! I compared it to the juice I ordered and I couldn't believe they did this to both kids. I was stunned to say the least. First let me say that our waitress was a delight. So cheery and helpful. She made the evening very pleasant. However, Sorry to say this was the worst meal we've ever had. Friends suggested this place and without hesitation we said sure! Biggest mistake ever. Husband ordered the seafood fra diavolo. This was supposed to have shrimp, scallops, clams and mussels over linguine in a spicy red sauce. It came with just clams and mussels, barely enough sauce to cover the pasta and very bland. Literally sitting here at Jo Jo Apples and I check in for my first visit which will now be my last visit to Jo Jo Apples. They were supposedly offering 10% off on Yelp when you check in. I tell the waitress who takes my phone and goes inside to chat with the manager. She comes back and says they won't take this? I'm not sure I understand why. I am in this business as well and this is horrible customer service. They tell me no manager is onsite but they called and spoke to them and they are no longer associated with yelp. He's an idea, call Yelp and tell them to take the offer off. If your not going to accept what's on their site then take it off. The waitress was extremely rude when she told me and now they will not get a dime of my business or my family. So stupid for 10% it's actually a joke on behalf of the restaurant. Have been wanting to try this restaurant after hearing and reading so many great reviews. Decided to come with friends during restaurant week for dinner. The service was great, but the food was just alright. Ordered the clams casino for my appetizer, which were tiny but very good. For my main course I ordered the tuna dish which I was very much looked forward to. Unfortunately, my tuna was served extremely overcooked, which was disappointing . For dessert, I had the key lime pie, which was good- but again, the portion was very small. How about the warm friendly greeting we received going in.. or the friendly, fun server who seated us, or the delicious food which was fresh,fresh and fresh... so tasty.. I had the California Panini..So good.. the turkey was tender.. did I say fresh??.. toasted perfectly, coleslaw that was homemade and crispy.. French fries to die for . The Brownie for desert.. served with a candle for our friend after our waitresss heard it was birthday.." we'll take care of it".. she said and the ladies came over and sang.. the staff who are Tara, Donna and Pam.. as I am happy to address them whe I go back and I will be back. They treat you like your in their home, the food is home made and the atmosphere cozy and inviting. My Buddy Jason and I chose this place just for location as we just finished the Asphalt Green Mile swim and felt like rewarding ourselves with a hearty steak and eggs breakfast. Outside of the place was inviting and well done, inside was busy, a good sign. I don't really care that the place wasn't cheap. I do think almost $40 for two people is pricey 'cause we just had coffee and ice tea, not beers or anything. What bothered me was the burnt home fries, the tasteless eggs and the bad selection of meat for the steak. That was almost tasteless also. A beautiful Saturday morning seemed like the right time to shoot over to Jo Jo's , a cute brunch spot on Lido Blvd. down the way in Point Lookout. I was pleased to get a table immediately. The brunches were served quickly and were delicious. We ordered cinnamon apple topped creme cheese stuffed french toast off the regular menu and a "southwest scramble" off the specials menu. The scrambled eggs were mixed with all the things you'd expect. They included black beans, corn, green onions, tomatoes, and chorizo sausage and just a bit of cheddar cheese. Served with salsa, fresh avocados and some rustic hash browned potatoes. Some good hot coffee from our friendly server along with very "homey" tasting food made me happy to give a well earned five star review. read more

What a fantastic little place! The food was awesome! They had a wide variety of Great breakfast items! This is always a plus for my family as we have two diabetics in it, that need whole wheat options and sugar free syrup. For the rest of us we had some of the best blueberry pancakes, hash browns, and a delicious waffle! Also, a plus for bacon lovers! Out of all the breakfast places I've ordered well done bacon at, this was the first place we got perfectly cooked bacon on the first try! As a prego I was unable to order any of their fancy breakfast cocktails but I did see a few go by that looked spot on! The waitress was lovely and the manager as well! Dear Owner of Jojo Apples: My family and I come to your restaurant a few times a month. Our experience is usually wonderful. I have posted good reviews of your establishment in the past. Today, your manager made our meal a nightmare. It's a Sunday morning. My husband's food was wrong so he sent it back. The manager, in a green and white striped shirt threw the plate back in front of him and said "the chef told me this is right, this is what you ordered. We were mortified. The server came over, apologized and had his dish remade. Later on, the same manager started screaming about people going to the beach when she saw them walking away, and she was going to have them towed. What is wrong with this woman? How about approaching the family to tell them you can't park here or you will be towed. She saw them get out of the car, waited for them to walk away and then got upset about it! is that the type of place your restaurant wants to have a reputation for? Ruining this family's nice beach day, instead of just asking them to move the car? Throwing food at customers with an attitude? Your manager needs to be fired or she will be the downfall of your business. The cliche the customer is always right is clearly not understood by this manager. Have been to this establishment several times always enjoy the food and being able to sit outside in the nice weather we decided to go there this am with my mom Upon arriving we asked the hostress if we could be seated outside she said of course led us outside to a table we proceeded to wait at least 20.minutes no one came out to ask take our order my daughter proceeded to go inside to ask for a waitress the waitress then came out not the most pleasant took.our orders she bought our food out we had no utensils which seemed to annoy her never asked if we wanted a refill on our coffee she gave us the check we paid it and proceeded to sit a little while she comes back out about 5 minutes or more later and says i gave you the wrong check and again seemed annoyed like it was our fault she then proceeded to give us back the right check and throw our money on the table. As an app, We got the stuffed portobello mushrooms It was dry and the breadcrumbs we not cooked. Then my "salad" was just a few pieces of lettuce. I thought maybe it would get better by the main course however my file of sole was swimming in oil and my sides were bland. The only thing that was good was when we were paying the woman kindly asked who everything was, since I can't lie I told her that it was just satisfactory and mentioned the mushrooms to which she took it off the check. I can't believe all the negative responses. This place is one of my favorite breakfast joints. Food is great - never had any problems and I have been here well over 50 times, the women that work there are great. Summer for breakfast will be crazy because it is beyond busy. Disappointed with the menu and prices at the point ale house, we decided to try jojo apples. We had a great experience. The selection of salads and pricing was much better the across the street. My husband had pecan crusted chicken salad with cranberries, candied pecans, Gorgonzola etc.. It was large and yummy...12.95. I had same with salmon on top. Cooked just right! Add on 4.95, 18.00 salad kinda steep, but really good! Also had calamari, lightly breaded, large pieces with yummy marinara sauce, fresh basil. We grabbed a Togo menu so we can call in our salad orders for the beach. The candied pecans had some sort of sugar on them, but not sweet enough...my only criticism. Great service and quickly served! My fiance and I live down the street in Long Beach, we have been going to Jojo's for almost a year. Maybe 10 times, we even had fathers day there last year. I am done, the food is ok, but the reason why I will never spend another dime at Jojo's is the service, besides the blonde girl with the glasses by the register. Every waitress is slow, grumpy and rude. They always act like they are in the weeds, flustered is not the word. They have like 4 tables and they run around like their heads cut off and they have busboys!!!. We have had this same waitress(tall,late 60s, early 70's short brown hair) 4 times who we call "Flo" tell us to STOP holding hands. Who the F cares if I want to hold my futures wife's hand. She is curt with all of her tables and often slams things on the table when she FINALLY serves them to you. Last Sunday my fiance asked two different waitress's a question about how much extra it would be for a scoop of tuna on a side salad, one walked away and the other made it sound it was so annoying that she could not be bothered. Every waitress in there is a snot and very rude. BOTTOM LINE ,SLOW, GRUMPY waitress who should have retired long ago. Food is actually not bad and that is why we kept coming back. We have actually sat at the counter before and waitress watched, its hilarious to watch them scramble and act all busy for like 4 tables and watching "Flo" take orders and interact with customers is great fun, she is so rude and curt. Jojo apples if you were not in a town with like two other restaurants you would have closed after 1 season, but congratulations on number 13!!! read more

I love this place because it's a small town cafe that's close to the beach and they are very dog friendly. You can sit outside and enjoy the weather. It's a good place to have a very early breakfast and catch up with friends. It's just a great homey place to stop for food and good people. YMy family thinks the food is delicious. I wouldn't know. .. I'm allergic to shrimp and can't eat any food cooked on the same grill or fried in the same oil as shrimp. This really limits my options. I asked to have something fried in a separate pan but was told they were too busy. Passed this place hundreds of times and always thought of stopping in. Did so today and we should have passed it by again. A cute little place with an outdoor patio that was quite pleasant. Service was adequate. The food came out faster than I expected. That's where it ended. I was looking forward to a mimosa with fresh squeezed OJ. Not only did they not have fresh squeezed OJ. They had no OJ at all. Also ordered the French Toast that was supposed to be Challah Bread. No such luck. It was regular white bread and no, not even Wonder Bread. My husbands home fries were cold. The supermarket in this town closed down a month or so ago and I guess that's where they bought the OJ and the oranges. Perhaps they should travel the couple of miles into LB to purchase supplies when they run out at 10 AM on a Tuesday morning. We will not return. read more

We ordered widely: a chicken and avocado wrap, the daily breakfast combo (eggs sunny-side up, sausage, home fries, rye toast), a "spicy corn fritatta" and an order of french toast. *Chicken and avocado wrap: not bad, not great. Pedestrian. Wilted, limp homemade potato chips. Took 3/4 home. *Breakfast combo: Eggs were cold. HOW THE HELL? We were sitting across from the window! Potatoes: soaked through with what appeared to be annato oil. You know, the gross orange oil? Inedible. Sausage: Turkey sausage. Meh. Pancakes: mediocre. At least they were hot. *French toast: wonder bread dipped in unseasoned eggs. Half-cooked. No discernable cinnamon or vanilla. Sent out looking unevenly cooked, burned spots and raw spots. Beyond disgusting. My companion ate it out of fear of getting no food. I would have sent it back. FINALLY: *Spicy Corn Fritatta: Dessicated corn. Jalapeno peppers, tomato. Topped with hunks of congealed pepper-jack processed cheese food. My guess is Velveeta, but the manager denied it. The ONLY flavor came from the peppers. And never, ever an offer of a second cup of coffee. I wanted so much to like this place. And if you say this review is petty? This joint is dependent upon SEASONAL income to survive. This is how you serve food? I don't know how it has stayed open. Normally, I would give the place a second try, in a quieter time. However, I don't want this chef preparing anything I eat.
