We were passing through and hungry. My wife pulled this place up. I was highly skeptical - my experience has often been that many restaurants in small towns (Pipe Creek is a small town and I can say that because I live in another small town) aren't that great and wouldn't do well in a more populated place. But - we decided to stop. My first impression was 'a restaurant that's attached to an ice house . . . ok, low expectations. I was wrong! My wife ordered the Patty Melt which is a generous hamburger patty served with caramelized onions (nice and sweet), melted white American cheese and cheddar cheese, covered with their house made tangy Patty melt sauce all placed in between toasted sourdough bread. That sandwich was amazingly juicy, full of flavor and just downright really good! Probably one of the best two Patty Melts I've ever had! The sweet potato fries were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside with a great flavor! If my burger wasn't so good I'd have wished I ordered this instead of just having a bite. I ordered the Jalapeño Popper Burger and wow - great! A huge seasoned patty with cream cheese, jalapeños (grilled), bacon, an onion ring and a raspberry chipotle bbq sauce. That burger was perfect - the flavors were perfect together. The burger was juicy - it was really good. I had a side of onion rings and they were also great. The onions were dipped in buttermilk and then their house made batter and deep fried to perfection. Subtle flavor that worked well but wasn't overpowering. So - it's in the middle of a small town - attached to an ice house - and the food is exceptional! Highly recommend it!! read more

HIDDEN GEM!!! I have worked in this area for over 4 years and never knew this burger spot existed until a new friend in Lakehills told me about it. I drove past it for literal years. She recommended the Bacon Blues burger last summer and I've only gotten that burger ever since. The cooks are amazing and the staff is always friendly. I've never had a bad experience here and doubt I would. Once they forgot the bacon on my burger but that's kinda on me because I came in close to closing time. Sorry y'all. I felt bad even calling but Jody called me back and replaced my burger. The replacement burger is the one I pictured. The burgers are always good, but he really knocked it out of the park with this one. It was deliciously perfect. So if you happen to be in Pipe Creek, go hungry and stop at Jo Mamas Place. What a wonderful surprise this place was! We actually only stopped in because of the name, Jo Mama's, as my husband was born and raised in Hawaii, and he had a good friend named Jo Mama. But we loved the cute little place, and we cannot say enough about how good the cheeseburgers and the fries were! The fries had such a delicious seasoning on them, and everything was fresh and tasty as heck. We'd be in trouble if we lived near here, as we would be eating there every day! It's a little hard to find because they don't have a big sign up. But it's worth the effort to get there. The burgers were great. I had the maple bacon burger. Too large for me to finish but I tried. I recommend the burger barn. read more

A single here is substantially bigger than a single from Whataburger, In-N-Out, etc... you've been warned. I could tell the griddle was HOT because my patties had an excellent brown crust on one side, almost like a smash burger. If you're a bacon guy, the bacon is FANTASTIC. We got a generous portion of thick, smoky, chewy bacon with zero rubbery gristle. Nothing like the bacon you get at most places, that are usually thin enough to give you a paper cut. Plenty of unique burger options, as well as several things I'm looking fwd to trying but can't yet vouch for, like hot dogs, frito pies, Mac & cheese, etc... Folks who work there are super friendly, and they have discounts for seniors, military, 1st responders, etc... it's a tiny little place with just a few tables inside and a couple more out on the porch, so you might want to grab it to go if they're busy. The pricing is very good and the food is exceptional. At 70+ I've had burgers all over the country and this is the BEST burger I've had anywhere. I got the Jalapeño Popper burger, I think I got a little too excited and didn't read the whole menu description, I missed the sweet sauce.. personally love a good jalapeño popper burger, and once I saw it I had high hopes, but there was A LOT of the sweet sauce, my burger was sitting in a pool of sweet bbq sauce. it completely dominated all the other glorious flavors and was like eating a dessert. although the sauce its self had a nice flavor I just couldn't taste anything else but that. will have to try again without it. read more
