My family & I ate lunch Saturday at this restaurant and the BBQ ribs were really good. My sister & I ordered BBQ pork rib plate with potato salad and pinto beans. The potato salad was good but the beans had too much chili powder in them. My daughter ordered the Baby Back ribs with some type of fried potatoes and pinto beans. The potatoes looked and tasted old. The Baby Back ribs were a tad bit sweet for my daughter, but I liked the ribs. We had dessert, chocolate cake which tasted like a brownie, but melted in your mouth good. Now the peach cobbler was terrible. The peach cobbler crust did not have a good taste and the whole dessert did not taste like home made with cinnamon, nutmeg and a hint of sugar. The staff were very mannerable, the restaurant was very clean, the restroom was clean and parking was ample. Over all I would recommend this restaurant for the BBQ meats. read more

Drink machine is full of mildew or mold, and falls into cups. Food is Meh, not all TX BBQ is good. We just stopped as it was on our way to destination. Ambiance is cool and relaxing but world make a B- Line if we were ever here in this area. read more

We decided to try Fritze's last week. We both had the small brisket plate. The brisket was flavorful and tender. I had the green beans and cucumber salad. My husband had potato salad and pinto beans. Stopped here for a pre-dinner snack after one of Noah's soccer games at City Park. It's slightly northwest of the town, and sober didn't find a huge crowd there. As we pulled up, I noticed they also have a drive thru for those in the mood for bbq on the go. There is inside and outside seating available. The day was great for outside dining, but Noah picked a bench on the inside. The indoors is decorated with Texas Ranger history and stories, longhorn skull, and snake skins...rustic ranch style. Noah settled for a sausage sandwich kids meal. It comes with one side. He went with the cream of corn. Noah had no issues with the sausage sandwich, but was less than impressed with the corn. He wanted something else mid bite. I ordered the loaded baked potato. The potato comes loaded with diced onions, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, chives, all under a heap of chopped beef. One, it's a lot of spud. Was it good, hmmmm...maybe not, but you won't go hungry. I am not a fan of chopped beef - it's the sauce. I think if it were just the chopped brisket, it would have tasted better. Service was fine. We were greeted and helped with our order. Fritze's also doesn't have beer. So, I settled for a sweet tea. They also have a fountain drink machine. Noah got a Big Red. I don't see myself coming back, but I would recommend something other than the baked potato or the corn. read more

Ordered one of the specials - brisket tacos. They tasted good! Came with bbq sauce, salsa and pico. Meat on it's own was fairly salty. Once you add the salsa and pico, it was a good balance of flavor. I wish the salsa was spicier... but that's a personal preference as I love spicy salsa on the tacos. Their selection for dessert... yes to everything. Their brownie and chocolate chip cookie were very tasty! I would go again just for their baked goods. Service was good! Hungry for bbq, so took my people to Fritzes last Tuesday. one got the smoked bbq chicken, one got the baby back ribs one got the tenderloin. Ribs were Smokey and tender with a great glaze, cole slaw was very good, marinaded cucumbers were real good- all tried em and thought they were the best side. The tenderloin was Smokey and very tender, a pretty big chunk. Sides with this order was macaroni salad, which was very good they got the cucumbers too. The bbq chicken, I'd have to say was the star. 1/2 a bbq chicken with two sides for $13.00! The bird has lots of seasoning, Smokey and tender as could be. This place has really went down the hill. We went there last night. I ordered the prime rib with cream corn and a loaded bake potato. My prime rib was cold and cut very thin, I'd say it was 1/4inch thick. I told the only adult employee it was cold and he asked do u want me to put it back on the grill? Well duh!!! My cream corn tasted like it came from a can and didn't have any flavor. The loaded potato was also cold and skimpily loaded with just cheese and a side of sour cream. no bacon or green onions. My husband ordered a quarter chicken with pinto beans. One of high school kids who was working opened the cabinet to get out the chicken using his bare hands, not wearing gloves or using any tongs. Just reached in with bare hands grabbed it and put it on the plate. While we were eating four employee high schoolers decided to sit in the booth in front of us an talk loudly about where they were going to party and sleep tonight even asking the only adult male worker running the drive thru if they could sleep at his house. The hashbrowns were not good: cold, day-old no flavor, tasted like the fridge. The coleslaw was delicious, sweet and vinegar, and mayo based, reminded me of KFC slaw, which I enjoy. The son had the chopped beef sandwich, which he praised. The peach cobbler was middle of road and made days ago. The sweet tea is syrupy, diabetics be warned, you'll need to dilute it with unsweetened tea to balance it. We ate in the dining room which has nostalgic signs decorating the place, but if you have eyes you'll be assaulted with gun-nut propaganda bumper stickers. I don't care about your politics, I'm here for bbq. If you want to put tacky messages that are tone deaf up, you're missing a golden opportunity. Your decor should be welcoming and make people feel safe. I got the feeling that theres a loaded ar15 behind the prime rib waiting to go off should the owner be angry/paranoid that day. Arrived here shortly before closing and were treated like the first customers of the day. That always speaks volumes when a restaurant greets the last customers with as much gusto and pride as they do at the first at the beginning of their day. We both had brisket sandwiches which were very good, and while I tried the macaroni salad, hubs tried the potato salad. Both were great but the macaroni salad (the staff favorite) was the supreme winner of everything we had this particular evening. I could have made a meal on just that.
