    Fabric store

Chronically understaffed, and don't use staff wisely. Ex: 2 staff on registers (1 of whom was on her first day at the register), while at least three other staff members were at the store (1 of whom was standing idly at the fabric cutting counter). Overpriced; never buy anything without a coupon

I hate leaving negative reviews, but I have had two bad experience here recently. I will share the latest. I brought a fabric remnant up to the counter. It was approximately a yard (just over) and was 50% off the original price because it was a remnant. I had a coupon for 20% off my total purchase INCLUDING sale items. However, the cashier told me that "the computer won't let you use the coupon because you already have a 50 percent off remnant discount." I pointed out that the same exact fabric I had in my had was available on the roll in the back back of the store and just happened to be on sale that week for...you guessed it, 50 percent off. So,if I walked back, got them to cut me a yard and brought it up to the front it would STILL be 50 percent off (aka: the same exact price as the one in my hand) AND I could use the coupon. She refused to try to override the system or call a manager and just suggested that I go get more myself. So I did. I had to walk back, get my fabric, wait in line (which is another issue - two employees working on the same customer's fabric...like 20 different kinds to cut - and only after the other customer suggested they help me instead of both working on hers did someone cut mine), get my fabric cut, walk back up, wait in line to check out and pay with my 20 percent coupon, which then worked. Ridiculous. They were the EXACT SAME piece of fabric. Luckily I am not a sewer and only need fabric a couple of times a year. I think next time I will look elsewhere...

I shop here a lot. Friendly staff, good deals. Best to go on a weekday when it's less busy.

Big sale or not, expect long lines at the cutting table and check out. Store is in complete disarray. sad, like they don't even try.

Last year around the holidays, it started having occasional problems with the reclining feature. Sometimes the back wouldn't go all the way up, or the footrest might sag a little on one side, but it always self corrected within a few uses. I planned on calling after the holidays. Then we started passing around either the bad flu going around, or Covid, not sure which. Things didn't get back to normal til the beginning of March. I noticed that the recliner was having reclining problems more often. So I got out my paperwork, and called the number on it, and talked to the woman who answered. Answered all her questions. I was told that because I hadn't called within 30 days of first noticing the problem, it wouldn't be covered, but I could pay a repairman to come fix it. I told her NOWHERE on the pamphlet or receipt did it say that, and no, I wasn't paying for a repairman. She sent me an email, and in the title was the word Amazon. I didn't buy my furniture through Amazon. I went to a local store, because I thought I would get a repairman from that store, not one from an Amazon company. I'm very disappointed with Slumberland, and will think twice about buying anything from them again.

I clearly stated more than once that I was "just browsing" and "doing fine", but everywhere I turned this guy was trying to sell me something. When I actually did purchase a table - not one that he was trying to push on me, and not with the chair upsell - the checkout and pickup process was fine. I asked for some follow-up information via phone on a different product and received it quickly. I'd be willing to try Rubin's again, but perhaps at the downtown Madison store next time.

I had first entertained the idea of purchasing said chair a few months ago and went in to see their selection. Prior to going in, I had found a 10% off coupon in the Reader, so the incentive to purchase from Rubin's rose proportionately. They had a vast selection of modern contemporary furniture on 2 levels. I had a hard time deciding exactly what to select, but after perusing the inventory, I made up my mind. The salespeople were very friendly and helpful, and not at all pushy. The particular chaise I ordered wasn't in stock and had to be ordered from their warehouse in Madison, WI and would take approximately 8 weeks. I was disappointed to have to wait so long, but good things come to those who wait. I got my chair about 3 weeks ago and I absolutely love it. It's comfortable as well as stylish. Can a piece of furniture be sexy? Absolutely. And I just ordered a second chair.

The staff was friendly and helpful. I visited on opening day and so I think they had a lot of staff on duty. The store was a little under supplied in some areas. I'm guessing that is because they just opened. I was happy with the brands etc...that they had on hand. The one big downside of Ross is that they will not let you take your cart to the parking lot. I bought a large dog bed and some smaller items. They put my smaller items in a bag and then the dog bed in the cart. When I got to the door I was stopped and told I had to leave my cart. So here I am trying to manage my bags, my handbag and this huge oversize dog bed. A customer walking out with me commented on how bad it was to expect customers to not need a cart. What if I had not been able to handle my purchases without a cart? I guess I could pull my car up, but if that is the expectation then I would think that would be a problem for them during heavy shopping times. I would definitely go back. The store is in a very conveniently placed location. I hope they change the cart policy.

The lady at the self check-out was helpful and friendly.

My husband and kids got me several maternity dresses from Kohls for Mother's Day 2025. Because I…read moream eleventy-million weeks pregnant, the dresses were all about a size too small to accommodate my growing belly--so I took all three dresses back to Kohls just a couple of days later in hopes to exchange them for store credit so that I could size up. As they were a gift, I did not have the card that was used to purchase the items, nor did I have a receipt. I figured it would be ok because the dresses still had all their tags on, they were purchased mere days prior, clearly had never been worn, and I was simply requesting store credit (not cash or anything). So, I hauled my giant, tired, pregnant self over to Kohls with my toddler in tow just to exchange these damn dresses. I was asked to give a phone number, email, and my state-issued drivers license. I freely gave this information. Then, the woman working there told me that without a receipt, they could only issue half-store credit. So, if I wanted to return the dresses, valued at around $100 for all three, for store credit, I would only get $50 store credit. Engage internal Karen mode. I ended up calmly and quietly just saying, " ok, I'll go home and find the receipt and bring them back for a full refund"...which I fully intend to do, this evening. And then, instead of keeping my money within that same store via store credit/exchange as I initially intended, I will walk out, spend the entire amount elsewhere, and probably never go to Kohl's again, as the vibe, price point, and shockingly worsening customer service leave so much to be desired. I understand that there could be a situation in which someone steals clothing, leaves the tags on, and then tries to return the items for cash....that probably happens all the time. I am sure this policy is an attempt to address that. However, it seems misapplied and misguided to use this policy against someone who is trying to exchange recently purchased, brand new, items for store credit. (Especially when the customer doing so gladly presents their government-issued photo ID and it is a couple of days after a national gift-giving holiday) Now though, I have to go through the hassle of going to Kohls all over again, taking another hour out of my day, in order to rectify something that should already have been fixed in like 5 minutes. And now, instead of just keeping my money within the store, I am taking it all elsewhere. Seems like a really stupid policy. I get that we live in a low-trust society, where theft is rampant. Despite this, I still don't have to patronize businesses that default treat all their customers with suspicion. For years, the selection and prices at Kohls had been mid, at best. The main reason to go to Kohls was always that they had great customer service and a stellar return policy. If that's no longer the case, and it seems to be, then I have no reason to go. Also, Kohls cash is now excluded for any sort of "premium" brands that they carry (Nike, Sephora, etc) so that sucks too. I see Kohls going the way of Sears...once they piss off the Midwestern moms and grandmas, their core clientele, the end is near.
