Kind of blown away by my experience today. I placed an order yesterday for 3 canvases. Today I went in to pick them up. At the register, they claimed they couldn't find my order (I had email confirmation.) It took 3 people and 30 minutes. They never found my order in their system but eventually had me purchase them in store. I'm checking my account to make sure I'm not charged twice. I'll add that while this was going on, I got to listen to the two cashiers complaining about customers and the line as we all stood there. During this prolonged situation, my husband had to take a meeting over the phone and accidentally left his headphones on the counter. I called later to ask if they'd found them. I was told "we tossed them before they were icky." Oooookay, thank you for the opinion on my husband's property? Simply telling me they were thrown out would have been sufficient. They went to look for them and returned to phone to say, with attitude, "yeah. We pulled them out of the garbage." Gee, thanks? Do they not have a lost and found? So I responded, "ok, I guess I'll pick them up." She responded "I guess you will" and hung up on me. Two experiences with this store today. Both bad enough to keep me from returning. Keep me away from here because it's hard to leave once you go in. Way too many fabrics, trims, etc that spark ideas. The usual crafty lady comaraderie is everywhere, all staff are very helpful and nice. The garment district in NY is slowly fading, and here is just easier to find items all in one place. They will do a short cut also, for trim and fabric, I think they will do 1/8 yard, when shops in the Garment district refused to go under a yard. I found great trim here to dress dolls for a Mardi Gras hat. There are coupons! Michael's is nearby also, but you need a car to get to either place. read more

I was apprehensive about this place after seeing the low ratings, but I was pleasantly surprised! The store was not only huge, clean, well stocked with many types of yarn, crafts, tchotchkes and fabric, the employees were super nice and very helpful. I usually go to Michael's but the selection of yarn is ridiculously limited, I knew I wouldn't find what I needed there. I wanted natural yarns like wool or cotton with a bulky weight to make a gift for a friend. I couldn't find what I needed so I asked Ebony- who was in the yarn section and she helped me locate what they had in stock and apologized that they didn't carry exactly what I needed but that she would let her boss know. Then when I went to check out, the cashier was able to help me take advantage of numerous coupons online - saving me over $60!!! I'll definitely be coming back soon! read more

Even with GPS, getting here was a little bit hairy so watch the turn coming off - and getting out of the parking lot. Never liked the area with the way it is designed for traffic moving too fast through the lots. The staff here are friendly and were very quick to help us get what we needed, so like what we used to have with Home Depot, people who actually used the crafts themselves and can help pick out various patterns and tools to use that are useful. Efficient in, but out - terribly slow line. They could do with eliminating the overly strong scent of cinnamon throughout the store, too, that gave me a headache. So staff, great, store - plenty of supplies and different kinds of materials all available, but smell and terrible parking lot have been done better like other stores. read more

Probably my favorite craft store in the area. The store has a ton of variety and the staff go above and beyond in helping me every time I go - whether that means explaining to me how sewing patterns work and helping me choose how much fabric to purchase, searching the aisles for items that are available online but i cant find, or choosing which coupons will get me the best deal in the app. This is always my first stop for any art and crafts supplies. read more

Online shopping was horrible. I ordered 4 items only received 2. I could not retrieve receipt for order on website. The Employee's and manager were no help in resolving the missing items or retrieving my receipt even with an order #. They also told me that items were not in store that's why I didn't receive it. PROS: This place redid its store and it looks beautiful. Everything is clean, well priced, labeled, and they're always running coupons. Some of the workers are very friendly. One thing I noticed that's rare is that their store is filled with employees. Other stores you have to pump a flare into the sky to get someones attention. CONS: They don't have customizable framing which some other locations do. Some of the workers tend to be a bit snippy as well OVERALL: I do recommend coming here for any arts and crafts supplies. I made a return in this store three weeks ago, with 3 barking dogs, crowded store, and the girl returned the wrong item on my order. Since the very large dog which I am terrified of, was barking so loud, I did not notice the girl returned the wrong items and short changed me, 8 dollars. I called when I got home, told them what happened, and they put me on hold and never came back on the phone. Called customer service phone number, told the representative, after 20 minutes of giving them all the details, such as, register, time, price, order number, etc, they said they would refund the correct money, and as a courtesy, send me thru email a twenty dollar gift certificate. NEVER RECEIVED ANYTHING. Called again, guy on line said , sorry, i will take care of this with my supervisor asap. THAT WAS OVER A WEEK AGO. NOW IT IS THREE WEEKS SINCE I WAS TOLD THIS. I would say my experience with the store was fine but there were several items I was not happy about (most of which were no fault of this location but of the corporate entity). 1 I ordered Christmas items online and paid for them. A few minutes later more than half my order was cancelled as there was no inventory despite it saying it could be picked up at this location and had items in inventory. 2 items I went to pick up were crunched up in a bag with the poinsettia flowers at the bottom of this bag and the garland wrapped up on top. The cashier pulled the garland out and it started falling apart with berries and pieces falling all over (most likely due to being wrapped up in the bag. I did not get any of these items. 3 my receipt never reflected that I decided I did not want the damaged items. 4 My receipt did not seem to reflect the 20 percent discount on the pick up items I did pick up. Smelled the pumpkin candles before I even walked in. Euuuchh. Friend bought a canvas to paint and I bought some fabric to throw over an old armchair. Took a couple of months to get the pumpkin candle smell out of it. That parking lot is the Bermuda Triangle. And it's not your vacation Bermuda--cars disappear without a trace Flight 19 style. Went to Joann's yesterday to pick up a few things for a craft project. Store was clean and organized but it was a week day and the kids were still in school. I just found one thing puzzling, It was me and one other person waiting to pay. I was told that I could not stand at the counter - "the line is over there" I had to walk through a maze (with no one on line) and wait 20 yard away for the last person to be checked out until the "sarge at arms" called me up and then had to walk through the empty maze again, squeeze past someone at the other side of the register and go back to the place I was standing. Jo-Ann's is a good store because they have a great selection of fabrics to choose from. But the new policies are not good at all. There is a fabric I desperately needed and the only store that had any of it was in Paramus New Jersey. I explain to them that my husband had a stroke and I could not drive all the way to Jersey just to pick fabric. As much as they claim they on not happy unless their customer is happy and they like to help their customer, Jo-Ann's does not compromise on their policies. They have this policy that if something is on clearance you cannot order it online If their warehouse no longer has it and the store cannot send it to another store nor can they send it to you. So no they do not go out of their way to satisfy their customers no matter what. It's a shame because I was ready to buy all that they had. I tried calling and speak to anyone that I could including the main office. But they would not budge. I told them that I was willing to even pay more for shipping if I have too. I even try getting the Jersey store to mail it to me and I would pay for it over the phone including shipping. The answer was in nasty "No". So even though I spend hundreds of dollars especially during the pandemic at Jo-Ann's, they we're not willing to help a long time customer. I will not be shopping there anytime soon. Customer service is a joke. Just go to Michael's instead. I've been trying to order online and my orders are constantly canceled. I have been trying to get a real person to help and 4 hours later, nothing. Customer service can't do anything (although they did speak with me for a while) and refunds (the department that supposedly is holding up my orders) flat out told me they won't help me. Don't waste your time or money. Michaels is way better, and cheaper. This store is stuck is 1900 and won't even let you speak to a real person to get an issue resolved. This is a very spacious and well stocked Jo-Ann's staffed with folks who know the inventory and approach you to assist you. Easy to find help. Checkout staff helped me to use 2 40% discount tickets using my mobile phone. The store is very clean and orderly -- a difficult feat in this type of store. It can be difficult to find with a GPS so expect to maybe have to drive past it and make a U-turn several miles down the road. read more

Not responding to multiple curbside pickup orders for days + phone being off the hook when called = very bad customer relations

This place just received 5star thanks to their cashier Tania for awesome customer service! I arrived here to purchase fabric for my daughters textile class. The amount of fabric totaled $65. I was waiting online fully expecting to pay the full amount. When It was my turn, Tania asked me if I had any coupons, which I replied "unfortunately not". She proceeds to tell me "if you can connect to the internet on your mobile phone, I can show you where we have a coupon". So I said ok and went to their website all along thinking it was probably like 10%, but a discount was a discount! When I finally arrive to the coupon, it was 50% off!!! My total came out to only $32! I seriously had to refrain from leaning over the counter and hugging Tania! Instead I opted for skipping out the store with a big cool aid smile! Thank Tania!! Great big arts and craft store. With a great variety of fabric. My mom comes here all the time. She's a regular customer. Today my mom and I went here to return a few ribbons, it was no problem. Last year in September my mom paid for a cake decorating class. She went to Joann's and the teacher never shower up. Today she asked about that class, and they told us to go to customer service. The supervisor named Daphne came over to us. She already came off with an attitude. As we waited, for about 20 minutes she told us we could not get a refund. My mother didn't want a refund, she just wanted to put the money towards taking another class. As my mom proceeded to ask a simple question "do I have to take a prior class for the cake decorating class?" The manager came back with a smart answer telling my mom, "there is no number before 1, is there? No? Then no." This manager had made my mom so upset, my mom asked to speak with the store supervisor. As we walked out, I said God Bless to her. We won't be coming back to this store location ever again. If you're a manager, that is no way to treat customers. Happy yelping, yelpers. read more

Terrible quality items, overpriced, and bad customer service. I bought a organizer for my 9year old daughter and day after realized top cover kept opening due to bad manufacturing. I didn't have my cash receipt and any packaging since I didn't think we'd have problem with merchandise bought from Joann. I went back with my kids to return for a replacement item, but they refuse to take it back sighting I didn't have receipt or packaging. She gave me a very unconvincing excuse that Banana Republic won't even take back items without tag. Are you kidding me? They sold me junk and now they won't even replace it. Even my son couldn't understand saying "there are exact item on the shelf. Why can't they just use that to scan it in?" I won't be shopping at this place anymore. I ordered some things for curbside pickup around two weeks ago but just found out they canceled the order because the items were out of stock. I was excited to complete a craft project but it seems like my items were used for someone else's order?! This Joann's is bigger than the Ramsey store but for some odd reason I never remember this store exists. As mentioned the parking lot doesn't have the best but I luckily found a space quickly. I did not see anyone in customer service or any sales people on the floor. I generally run across one or two friendly staff asking me if I need help when shopping at the Ramsey store. I went to shopping to buy yarn. I found that section well stocked, organized nicely and plenty of sales labeled. So I bought lots of yarn Caron, Lion, and Red Heart yarn for the baby gifts I make. The check our process was quick and pleasant. I grabbed a flyer for the list and was pleasantly surprised over the variety offered. Overall I had a good shopping experience but not great. I can easily see how this store can cause lots frustrations but I also never see floor staff at Michael's either. Joann's had some really good yarn sales. read more

First of all I gave 1 star because a minus was not available. I ordered fabric to make masks on 4/22/20 and after sending 2 emails to the company and numerous attempts to call - phone constantly off-the-hook, with no response, I received an email cancelling my order on 5/9/20 which was 12 business days later. The email begins with "Uh Oh! Items from order xxxxx have been cancelled". Really?! Why not say "my bad"! I understand that due to the Covid-19 crisis that there may be delays but the lack of customer service response is totally unacceptable. It is possible to have customer service reps responding to emails/calls because many other companies are doing that. Will never make a purchase from Joann's again and I urge you to do the same. Very huge collection, but making sure you have coupon on hand. Other wise if those material are in full price, can be very pricey. For craft item, you can use michael's store coupon. The fabrics, make sure you got the coupon from the joann website, newspaper or on their mailing list. the people who works there are very nice and helpful. make sure checking behind the the cutting counter if you can't find your mateial. And make sure you take the numbers before you're waiting for your material to be cut. the store is very huge, after you enter the door, right side is the fabrics and left side is craft. So make sure where you're going, don't get lost! If you want to take classes here, I don't recommend it. The schedule was very mess up, they are not so well of making communication with the store, instructor and students. The instructors are hit or miss type of professional. So if you really wants class? Youtube is better than it. read more

There were lots of customers walking around with masks pulled down under their noses, some even talking to staff like that, without staff correcting them. Not fully stocked. It was my first time in the store and didn't know exactly where to get my fabric cut. I stood in front of 3 employees for five minutes holding my fabric just to be ignored. Employees here were very helpful and knowledgable. Both people I spoke with were able to quickly point me in the right direction and I found what I needed quickly. They were pretty busy when I went (around lunch time), and a line formed quickly so perhaps they need a few more employees. It was also slightly hard to find someone to help me, but as I said, once I did, they were very helpful. They do offer some classes (cake decorating, various crafts, painting) as well as activities for kids on the weekends. If this fabric store wasn't the only game in town I wouldn't go back. I am very aware of making concessions because of covid but poor customer service has no excuse. The last 3 times I went there the line for cutting was long with only one or 2 people cutting. When we asked the manager if she could send another cutter she put her head down and ignored us on line. Then I waited on line at the register, finally was called over and the cashier picked up the phone and got in a conversation with a phone customer while I stood there watching 2 people who were behind me in line get checked out and leave. I'm sorry I don't agree with all the rave reviews of this store. I agree that it is very large and there is a selection of crafting supplies which you will pay full retail for if you do not have a coupon. But my review is for "fabrics" which this store has in its name. Several times I have come to this store seeking upholstery fabric for chair seats but I have to leave empty handed because the vast majority of the fabrics are all marked that they could bleed onto other fabrics if used for seating. HELLO. I checked into this with the sales staff and they confirmed that you could walk away with the fabric stained onto your skirt or trousers after sitting on the fabric. Well the positive is that you are at least warned - IF you take the time to inquire into the markings on the labels. But if you are seeking fabric to actually use, this is not the place. I have to let you at least know that the Ramsey Discount Fabric Warehouse is everything this store is not if you are purchasing fabrics. That warehouse has my highest recommendation for selection and price. read more

The only reason I'm giving this place two stars is because I was able to salvage what I bought into what I needed. Let me start off by saying I was looking for a cheetah print ribbon to finish my friends and my Halloween costume(easy item to find), I saw in the isle that they had none left(as well as many different types of ribbon) so I asked the woman if she could check in the back for me.... her response was "honestly it's too messy back there I'll never be able to find it." In my head I'm like WHAT?! I work retail and I would never DARE to say that to a customer. Regardless she would only help me out by looking at the boxes on top which clearly didn't have them. My other biggest problem was the line, thank god I went to the cash register when I did because next thing I knew the line grew to about 15 people in back of me... again working retail you would think the cashiers would have called for help. Still with only TWO people ahead of me I waited about 20 minutes. Safe to say I will not be returning to here, and instead will bite my tongue for Michael's prices.
