As you're driving by, you may assume that this place is run down. But, like the old saying goes. Don't judge a book by its cover. My wife and I went there for the first time today and I have to say, we were impressed. The owner, Joanne sat us at our table then quickly introduced herself. Our server was also very friendly, and quick to offer some advice on what to order when we asked. Upon her recommendation we both ordered the country fried steak with a biscuit and gravy. The country fried steak was absolutely delicious, as was the rest of the food. It has that small town, home cooked flavor. Everything made from scratch, nothing premade or frozen. Odd school tables with vinyl benches or wooden seats. Pictures of families and celebrities hung on the wall, and various quirky quotes nestled in crooks and crannies. If you are seated at a table with benches, some tables are pushed closer to one side of the two benches. These are people who have a little bit more of a "girth" body. We thought it was funny. The place and people reminded me when our family owned a Mom n Pop Southern homemade restaurant. Makes you feel like you home and don't "sass" your server or she will get you cleaning the toilets or washing dishes. LOL! Just a personal opinion. Breakfast bowl w biscuit - 5 stars on breakfast bowl but the biscuit was 3 stars. . The bowl consist of fluffy scrambled eggs, shredded hashbrowns, ham, sausage, bacon, cheese and onions. She requested jalapeños to make it spicy. She loved it. You can taste each ingredient and she added their homemade Mango jalapeño sauce to make it more flavorful. The biscuit was 3 stars because of the size and ingredients used. This is a personal preference but we can tell the biscuit used shortening instead of butter and the lack of salt as a seasoning. The size was smaller than expected. It was about a two inch in diameter and 1/2" inches height. It was wasn't as fluffy as other biscuits we have tried. It was flaky and had a good based to slather more jelly or honey on it. 4 Stars - Country Fried Steak w eggs, choice of hash browns, home fries or grits and biscuits or toast.. Server recommended the hash browns and I requested the biscuit. The batter on the steak was evenly dispersed and you can tell it was homemade verses a store bought one. The batter could have use a little bit pepper and salt for the dipping and dusting. The eggs were cooked to perfection - eggs over easy. Which is had to do because of the timing and if you have multiple orders you may missed the "flip" of the eggs or platter them up. Prices were totally reasonable and we definitely recommend this place. Just make sure to put your "Karen's and Brandon's" attitude away before you step in, 'cuz if you don't, there will be toilets or dishes that need to be cleaned. read more

As is our tradition, whenever my wife and I camping we always go out to eat on the first night - this trip was no different. After stopping and two other locations, we ended up at Gramhs to discover it really was more of a bar than restaurant. Interestingly enough, we met the owner who suggested the location next door run by his wife, Joanne, and so we did. The place is homey, a welcoming atmosphere but for some strange reason we we overlooked when seating, twice. It was quickly corrected the second time, the apologized, and it was all good in the end. It was a Friday night - they offer a prime rib special thar was delicious. For dessert, they had a very delicious lava cake that we shared - and took one back to the campsite for good measure. I wish we grabbed our server's name (early 20s, blonde hair woman) - she was the absolute sweetest. The food was also incredible, especially their pancakes. Love the interior and all the decorations and signs; this is definitely one of my most favorite country fried steak dishes. Of course I stumbled across this place via my tried and true friends at Yelp! This place is great, overall. I had the traditional breakfast which consisted of two eggs, bacon, hash browns, and a biscuit. There are other choices as well, but that is my standard. That food was good. I also ordered a single pancake, because why not?! That pancake was delicious! The decor in here is very entertaining. I included a few of my favorite signs but this place is chock full of gems like these. The music is great as they play a SiriusXM station that plays oldies. Not sure which channel number it is but the selections range from '50s all the way through the '70s which is about the time I stopped adding new music to my playlists! As for the service, unfortunately they seem to be suffering from the same lack of desire to work as every other business in the USA as poor Jennifer was the only person staffing the floor! That said, she did an awesome job! She was hopping the entire time but never showed any sign of being stressed. She was pleasant with me and every other patron in here. This little gem was pretty close to our VRBO rental and we very much enjoyed breakfast here. It's a quaint country cafe in a residential area with homecooked feel and very patriotic and right leaning ambiance, which we really appreciated. Service was super friendly and timely without ever feeling it was disingenuous or rushed. It appeared to be a favorite of locals and is far enough removed from the bustle of touristy downtown that made it even better. read more

We drove across the US to spend a month in Cape Canaveral staying in hotels with free breakfasts along the way. We had breakfast here this morning and got great service with a smile. My eggs, toast and bacon were cooked perfectly. The "home fries" were the same frozen little squares of frozen potatoes I saw at every free breakfast. I didn't eat them then and I sure didn't today. So disappointed, as I was expecting something homemade! I didn't touch them, but there was no comment as they took the plate. My husband had the chicken and waffles. The most heavily breaded strips of chicken ever. The waffle? Maybe 4 inches across. Tasty, but really small. Our son's breakfast was good, but bacon, 2 scrambled eggs, same potatoes and toast with a very small pancake should not have been $51! This is located very close to the cruise port. It is no nonsense and nostalgic. The decor is rustic and old timey. Our server was pleasant and checked on us often. I had the southern breakfast bowl, Husband had an all-meat breakfast bowl, and we shared a pancake. Everything is hot, fast, and delicious. I dont have a single negative thing to say. The flavors were outstanding. My bowl had gravy on it, and lets be real here...I love a breakfast gravy but not all places do it well. This small roadside breakfast/brunch spot is a hidden gem in Cap Canaveral. Get the sweet cream pancakes, the flavor is out of this world amazing. The omelet had a generous amount of CRISP chopped bacon and was the perfect size. The biscuits are soft and delicious. I traveled 40 minutes just to come here for Saturday morning breakfast and I was extremely satisfied. We ordered two original pancakes, biscuits, and gravy, a side of their sausage links (THE BEST I've ever had !!!) & their steak and eggs. ALL THIS FOOD was only $40 !!!!!!!!! You can EASILY order two full meals + drinks for $20 but we wanted to try everything. They make so much of their food in house and you can tell that the flavors are homemade. Joanne's Beachside Cafe 6006 N. Atlantic Ave (A1A) Cape Canaveral, FL 32920 1 Star I intended to visit two different places today; however, one was inside a hotel, and the other was closed. I gave up on rating hotel food, as every hotel gelogenically sells the same prison potatoes and Costco cheese, "Danish." My 20-mile trip was looking grim when I spotted Joanne's Beachside Cafe. Double-checking bigboydiningout.com to ensure I hadn't been there, I pulled into the parking lot. Jennifer was my server, and she did a very good job. She graciously answered all of my questions and got my order for a single pancake and the Country Fried Steak plate with two eggs over medium and home-fried potatoes. Awaiting my order, I snapped a few pictures of the interior and realized how peckish I had become in my search for food. Jennifer returned with my morning repast, and after a few more pics, I got to work. First up was the single pancake. After one bite, I knew this was an Aunt Jemima moments before my order hit the kitchen. It tasted exactly like a complete pancake mix you buy at Publix and add water for Insta-Johnny cakes. You could smother this in industrial high-fructose maple-flavored corn syrup, and it would still sit flat on the palate. Turning my attention to the Country Fried Steak and eggs, I opted to try the eggs first. Usually, one would mix the eggs with everything else into one glorious bite of Southern Breakfast goodness; however, this would be counterintuitive to an unapologetic gastronomical review. I order my eggs over-medium, not because I prefer them that way, but because they offer a bit more of a challenge to execute properly. The human manning the egg station today was just a bit outside of the strike zone. If you can't cook eggs properly to order, don't cook them. The accompanying sides of biscuit and home fries were not much better. The biscuit was your standard Pillsbury/Sysco frozen re-heated fare and the potatoes were no better than what you would get at the County Jail. They were from frozen and re-heated beyond the point of being palatable to being slightly scorched in places. In the bottom of the eighth is when you send in your ace reliever. 6 outs and it's game over. The save, in this case, was the Chicken Fried Steak. While I am sure it was from a box in the freezer, it was executed properly and the industrial gravy really wasn't all that bad. It was standard brace house fare. Very traditional and cool local diner with excellent service and many interesting signs and cute decorations inside. The food and drinks are served amazingly fast and air conditioning is superb! All of the signs and posters are so funny and filled with nostalgic and funny photos and sarcastic comments. One funny poster said "I didn't climb to the top of food chain to become a vegetarian!" Every other poster and signs were funny. The breakfast and orange juice came furiously fast. The patrons and waitresses were local and retirees.
