Just like pizza and bagels, being from Jersey allows me to judge a diner. The food at this diner was unfortunately glistening with grease and had no flavor. My country fried steak had such a thick coating that it was all you could taste. The Gouda grits were nauseating. The service was great though and the inside is cute! Came in for breakfast after a good workout. Packed enough. Seated immediately. Got our orange juice and coffee within maybe first 5 mins of sitting down. Which was nice. I ordered the country sampler with ham and home fries (roasted red potatoes and there was pieces of crispy skin which was a nice), it comes with sausage gravy which I had on the side. Everything was good. Except for the sausage gravy. I can do without next time. The Mister got corn beef hash with his eggs sunny side up and white toast. He finished all of it. Said it was good. Can't really go wrong with corn beef hash he said. The toast wasn't toasty. Seemed like they made a bunch and just had it sitting there. Overall, food and service was good for the most part. Our waitress came by and checked up on us as often as she could. But towards the end, she was running around a bit much and didn't bring us our check in a timely manner. We had to ask for it twice and she didn't come back to get it either. We walked up and paid for it. Overall, would come back. They're open from 7am-2pm. Parking is plenty. Both times the service was very friendly and pretty fast. I forget what I ordered for breakfast, but I remember my wife liking the grits and everything being extremely good value for the price. Dinner tonight was also good. Dinner entrees ran $10 - $15 and include soup, biscuit or cornbread, and two sides. Our group enjoyed the liver and onions, blackened redfish, collards, green beans, and deviled eggs. This was the 1st place I've ever seen with a deviled egg as a side. OK, it was only 2 halves, but it was a nice option beyond fries, rice, etc. The kids menu had breakfast/lunch/dinner options at all.times, so the kids can have their favorite brinner of pancakes and bacon if you let them. They also have a 15% military discount on top.of their great prices. We have had lunch here for the past two days. Our meals were delicious and cooked to perfection. Pam P. Was our server and she is always so happy, has great meal selections and she and the other staff members walk like they have a purpose. Pam is always great to talk with when things are slow. The food is usually great but I have an issue with the fact that the online menu has not worked for several months and I have brought that to the attention of the people I've placed my orders with. I can't easily come into the restaurant due to a walker and oxygen so I order to go and a neighbor picks it up for me. My husband asked for No mushrooms in his omelette but it had them as well as spinach?? He didn't tell me until half way done otherwise I would have sent it back. My food was good though, scrambled eggs were a little "over hard" but good. The grits were great but check the pic, this is the biggest grit portion I've ever seen! I only ate 1/3 of it where the cheese had been sprinkled on top ( asked for cheese grits) the biscuits were soft and awesome. I have been living in PSJ for almost 25 years and this was my first of what I hope to be very many more visits... From the outside this was really nothing much to look at and it was marginally better on the inside. But as they say, don't judge a book by its cover, or a diner for that matter. We were greeted upon stepping in and then were sat down promptly. Drinks? Why yes. And soon they were on the table. The waitress was very personable and patient as we ordered and the place was still quite busy for a late Thursday evening. My wife had their cheeseburger, made to order, big and thick. I had their "lite fare" pork chops, grilled. From the first bite, my wife loved her burger and I was pleasantly surprised with the chop. Though it was a little thinner than I prefer, it was still very good with the accompanying pickled beets. We each started our meal with salads - both with fresh, cold, and crispy - definitely well prepared. For dessert we had their Italian Cream Cake - what must be the best kept secret in PSJ. This cake was big and thick, without being heavy, and it was heavenly delicious. I am seriously considering ordering one when the holiday's come this year - I most certainly will. Great little Mom & Pop place with a friendly atmosphere, attentive staff, and solid home cooking. Country Cookin Diner is one of three in the area.. We were seated straight away, served a beverage as soon as we sat. Our order was taken within minutes and arrived timely.. They are a very busy diner so it's a bit loud.. The service and plating of the orders were really great.. Coffee is good strong and plentiful.. I highly recommend any of their locations as this is a bit far from us, the 524/Clearlake location is a bit closer.. But all of these diners provide the same service, and menu selection.. I had an American cheese sausage omelet with home fries (I prefer them with onions these didn't have anything not even spices) and Dave had biscuits and gravy topped with two eggs up!! read more

The price gouging that is taking place at a breakfast diner is sad and hurts, as a long time customer. I have brought myself, my family and my child here since birth. My bill for the two of us to eat, my family, and my friends have increased by almost 100% in the last two years. Today we got 2 biscuits, a side of gravy and an omelette no sides. It cost $25! Two biscuits, some gravy and an omelette simply should not cost that much! What an absolute money grab this place has become! For what I used to be a loyal customer, I have to say unfortunately I will not be coming back. I hope one day you get back to what used to be a great cheap, easy place to come have breakfast! Disappointed that the owner has chosen upgraded looks and appeal over the last couple years than keeping prices reasonable for families in the area. Looking for another restaurant I'd found on Yelp for breakfast, we pulled into this plaza before realizing we were at the wrong place. As bland & empty as most of the plaza looked, we noticed how crowded the parking lot was in front of and surrounding Country Cookin Diner, so we decided to stay. And what a great decision! This diner is quite large inside, with charming *country* decor, and lots of booths & tables. We were seated immediately at 10:15am on a Wednesday in a roomy booth, but business was still brisk, as most tables were occupied. The host brought our drinks while we browsed the large menu. Our waitress was outstanding... maybe it was a prompt on their tablet app she used to place our order, but she actually asked how we wanted our hash browns: crispy or not. Of course I went with crispy. AND! Without my asking, she offered to bring me REAL butter for my grits! Maybe I don't look like a margarine kinda girl, but suggesting things I usually don't bother to ask for was awesome. And I do greatly prefer butter, over margarine or spread or whatever that fake plastic crap is called. She also brought extra napkins & a separate appropriately-sized left-over container for our sausage gravy. I ordered my typical omelette, their "Spinach & Cheese", choosing cheddar today. I probably could've added ham or another meat, but didn't ask. In addition to my crispy hashbrowns, biscuits with gravy (which I only get for hubs), I also added a side of grits. The omelette was one of those large but thin versions, with proportionally way more spinach & cheese than egg... and without the encumbrance of meat (as a carnivore, I can't believe I'm writing this), I actually really enjoyed this thin yet large omelette! The hashbrowns were indeed crispy on top & bottom (note: not burnt), and thoroughly cooked inside... just about perfect. And those grits... mmmm... creamy but not runny, and with a little real butter & salt, they were nearly perfect as well. Hubs got something with eggs and a lot of meats, so I had a bite of his bacon & sausage patties. The bacon was bacon - nothing memorable, but that sausage had an excellent initial flavor, followed by a sharp spicy bite. For me, that was too much; hubs loved it. I am so glad we made this navigational mistake & ended up here at Country Cookin Diner! Often I've settled for chain restaurants in Titusville for breakfast because of convenient locations, and I've been satisfied. But now I've found a local *chain* (3 locations in the 321) that offers an outstanding breakfast at very reasonable prices. Well some might see me as a disgruntled father but I guess people forget they were once children and my money spends just as good as theirs.
