Since our entrées included access to the salad bar, we started there. The appearance of the salad bar was disappointing. I realize it was later in the evening, but there were literally salad bar fixings all over the place. Some items were mixed together, some had spilled onto the enclosure, and there was food on the floor as well. Much of what was offered looked like it had come straight out of a can. The walleye wasn't bad. However, the mixed vegetables were a pile of mush, and although I had requested the potato pancake be extra crispy, it was still undercooked in the middle. The perch fry was okay, but nothing special. For dessert, she ordered the Brandy Alexander, and I had the LemonBerry Cake. The Brandy Alexander was very good, while the LemonBerry Cake was mediocre. Service: Our server did a nice job getting us settled in. Water and drinks arrived promptly, and they were friendly and pleasant throughout the evening. However, they became involved in a lengthy conversation at another table, so getting our check took quite a while. Atmosphere: To be honest, the place looks a bit run-down and could probably benefit from some TLC. Since it was later in the evening, there weren't many other diners, and the restaurant was relatively quiet. The view of the lake through the windows is spectacular and makes it a great place to watch the sunset. I wish the food had been better. Unfortunately, this isn't a place we are likely to return to.

Service: It took almost 20 minutes to get my drink, even though there were not that many people there. After waiting about 15 minutes and seeing other customers receive their drinks, I asked the barista about my order. They did not seem to appreciate the question and responded that "the drinks are being made in the order they are taken." However, I had noticed at least one party that ordered after me receiving their drinks first. The barista then seemed to casually get around to making my drink. The interaction came across as somewhat passive-aggressive, which was disappointing. It's not an experience I would want others to have. Atmosphere: The café is interesting, with a couple of different rooms and plenty of space for groups. There were only a few other people there during our visit. Like the rest of the church, gift shop, and grounds, the café has a somewhat dated feel. Since I don't come here very often, I don't anticipate making a point to stop at the café again.

The accompanying American fries got an upgrade with cheese and fried onions. Absolutely delicious! This will probably be my go-to breakfast when I return. Service: We got there right when they opened at 7 a.m. There were already a few other tables seated when we arrived. The service was super friendly and efficient. We quickly got our water, coffee and tea, along with the menus. We needed some time with the menu, along with some necessary small talk, and our server checked back a couple of times without ever making us feel rushed. It was a very relaxed meal. Atmosphere: With the log exterior and large front porch, my first thought was Cracker Barrel. The inside, however, feels a bit more upscale than CB. Second time here in the last couple of months…read more Food: As much as I love the history of this place, the beautiful woods surrounding it, and the charm of the building, I have been very disappointed by the quality of the food. Unfortunately, this second dinner was even worse than the first. The rice was undercooked, the short ribs were dry, and the scallops were gritty. I realize that, for some people, the Buy One, Get One promotion is a big draw. However, I suspect that the menu prices are inflated to offset the BOGO savings, so it doesn't end up being much of an actual benefit. My wish is that they would focus on improving the quality and consistency of the food and charge prices that appropriately cover their costs while still allowing them to make a profit. I don't think we'll be coming back anytime soon, which is sad because there is so much to like about the location and atmosphere.

Note their entrees are upwards of $30-50 on average, so if you take this deal you're saving a pretty penny. Here you'll find all of the meat and seafood options to try. In the end I landed on the shrimp & scallop stir fry and boy was it good. Scallops were cooked just right and the flavor was on point. I also had to of course try my husband's steak and it was fantastic. Also fantastic was our server, Shaun. He took wonderful care of our table, and even gave us a great rundown of the entire dessert tray. He knew his stuff! We ended up ordering a handful of sweet treats to end the evening. They were so tough that you could barely cut them. The person who ordered them didn't want to make a fuss but was clearly frustrated. It wasn't until the end of the meal that we mentioned the problem to our server. Next time, an item like that needs to be sent back. The place was so noisy it was hard to hear people at our table. Even the server asked us to repeat orders. I ordered the special which was a 16 oz. ribeye (medium) . When the food was brought out the meat looked like it was even cooked. I have never tasted any type of meat that was so salty. Overall the dinner was a waste of our time and money. Ironically, the restaurant is located across the street from Johnny Manhatten's, one of our favorites.

Atmosphere: This location is a unique combination of coffee shop, Jazzercise studio, and Nutman distribution center. As soon as we were seated, we were served a complimentary basket of chips and salsa. The chips were fresh and slightly warm. The salsa was good, although I personally prefer a chunkier style. To start, my wife ordered a Dos Equis, and I tried the house Paloma. It was an excellent cocktail, although at $12.48 it felt a little pricey. We also ordered the fresh guacamole, which was very good. It had a nice chunky texture and fresh flavor, although I think it could have used just a touch more salt. For our entrées, my wife ordered the Pastor Tacos, and I chose the Drunken Tacos, one each with shrimp, shredded beef, and chorizo. The Pastor Tacos were unfortunately the biggest disappointment of the meal. The pork was dry and lacked the juicy, well-marinated flavor I usually expect from al pastor. Adding some of the guacamole definitely helped. They came with double tortillas, but unlike many great al pastor tacos, there wasn't enough juice to justify them. My Drunken Tacos were a mixed bag. The shrimp and chorizo tacos were both excellent, with plenty of flavor. The shredded beef taco, however, was fairly bland by comparison. Each entrée came with generous portions of rice and beans. While everything was served hot, the presentation could have been better. Some of the food looked as though it had simply been dropped onto the plate. A little more attention to plating would have made the meal feel more polished. Service: We received a friendly greeting when we arrived and asked for a table on the patio. Our server, Shaylinne, took great care of us throughout the meal. She was friendly, attentive, and helpful with our order. The service was consistently excellent. Atmosphere: We spent our visit on the outdoor patio. There were plenty of tables, and it wasn't very busy. Even though the patio sits in the middle of a shopping center parking lot, it was surprisingly quiet and made for a pleasant place to enjoy dinner. I'm glad we stopped in, but based on this visit, it probably wouldn't be my first choice for Mexican food in the area.

A nice bar is positioned in the middle and they offer a decent selection of food options like pizza, chicken tenders, tots, mozzarella sticks. I can 100% see us coming back in the future!
