I had one mistake on my order in all those years going here and it was rectified beautifully. Anthony, the owner listened to my complaint and was very understanding. Ordered an onion bagel with cream cheese and bacon in store today -- no wait, which was nice. Bagels were okay. Not the freshest, but not horrible. Bacon on the other hand .. expected it to be hot, given I had ordered it and received it within 5 minutes. Instead it was solid cold. Had the bacon been warm, the bagel would have been much better. Decent bagels with truly awful service that's rude, snarky, and lacks the ability or attention to get orders correct. Expensive prices for sandwiches as well, which wouldn't normally bother me. We discovered a new breakfast and lunch stop! Wraps are so large you can share! We had the Oceanside wrap on white tortilla (wheat was a choice, too) ala grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, and avocado, costing us 7.95. We didn't need dressing, as the perfectly seasoned chicken was complemented by the fresh vegetables. We had a side of macaroni salad--red peppers mini-diced were a pleasant surprise. We ate at a surf board table on barstools. Baked goodies (bagels, muffins, etc.) abound here. The sandwich choices ate abundant here, too. All staff were very friendly. Ordered roughly 15-20 times from Joes since moving to the area, only because it's open more often and closer than anything else. The French toast bagel and cinnamon bun options have been cancelled from my order and not refunded the difference every single time I've ordered. Take it off the menu, and next time refund the difference when you sub a cheaper bagel. I'm done ordering from this place for awhile based on principle alone. read more

~Joe's Bagel & Grill is surely a beacon of light to the blackhole of summer debauchery they call Belmar. Upon entrance I was pleasantly surprised at the modern industrial decor. It was cozy, clean, & inviting. Still hungover from then night before, I immediately grabbed a Yoohoo choco milk to replenish some energy... and then it hit me... the seductive smell of toasted bagels & meats being seared on the grill; this was the first glimmer of hope I could hold on to make this 2 hour drive home afterwards. I did my research & knew what I wanted.. Joe's Tidal Wave, which came with Eggs, Bacon, Taylor Ham, Potato, Onions & Cheese on a Hero roll; this was sure to cure & soak up any remnants from the Jersey Shore the night before. The staff was very friendly & prompt with the order. Needless to say I drove home happy & as full as a Baluga whale. My next trip up to Belmar warranted a revisit back to Joe's. I chose to go with an everything bagel stuffed with Eggs, Cheese, & Sausage paired with the pork roll empanada that everyone's been raving about. Kind of weird that there's two bagel places within a short walking distance of each other.Regardless, I've always been going to the *other* place nearby but drove past Joe's and thought I'd try that. I'm glad I did. Joe's has a lot of options when it comes to both Breakfast and Lunch. They don't just have bagels. Lots of sandwich options for lunch and even have french toast, waffles and pancakes as a breakfast option. I will probably try them for lunch one day when I'm in the area. There is outdoor seating which makes it convenient if I have my dog with me. I'm used to NY/North Jersey bagels which are BIG bagels. Joe's bagels are comparable to the bagels I have at home. They're big and filling and there's a lot of options - poppy, everything, wheat... etc. You have it all here. Definitely will have you feeling full after breakfast. Reason for one star deduction is because it took pretty long to get our breakfast. We wanted a quick option before hitting the beach but ended up waiting over 20 minutes. When you stop in a place like this you expect it to be quick. I understand they have order ahead so maybe I'll try that next time. read more

Good size bagel, tasted good and had plenty of butter, could have used a better job of wrapping it up to avoid the "butter leakage" stains on the bag, ughh kinda hate that, but the buttery deliciousness made me forget, cuz lets be honest that bagel didn't stand a chance! it was inhaled. I really do love this place! Their bagels absolutely satisfy that craving you need. I usually call in my order before a beach day and pick it up on my way. The staff have always been so friendly on the phone and in person! The whole wheat everything bagel is to die for. Today, I ordered a gluten free bagel toasted with avocado. I recently entered this establishment at 6:45 on a weekend morning and was stopped at the door and tersely told that I was too early as their opening time had changed to 7:00 am. I responded that I had checked the operating hours that very morning and that the website still listed their opening time at 6:30 am. I do not think that the service people should snap at people for coming through the door when they've not bothered to update their website. Not even an apology. I tried to use a coupon that said that I could have a breakfast bagel sandwich and would get a free small coffee. I asked for a bagel with cream cheese and lox as my sandwich. The service person rudely corrected me and impatiently told me that that sandwich was not considered a breakfast sandwich. Fine with me, just don't be rude when telling me so. I said nothing back. Later, she relented and told me that she had overreacted and the she too considered the sandwich that I ordered to be a breakfast item. She allowed me to use the coupon, which was really nice. Today I attempted to order the same thing and was told that I would not be able to use the coupon. Is it too much to ask that the staff communicate with one another and that policies be enacted with some consistency? I cancelled the order. This business does not run efficiently and they do not treat their customers with even a modicum of respect. I will not return. I go to this store regularly and they are the best, they know my order and are always super fast since I'm usually in a rush (weekdays). They definitely get busy on the weekends (but of course you will this close the beach). I ordered a large amount of bagels for my students on the last day of school, and Jen was SO nice and helpful and made sure everything was ready ahead of time and the order was perfect. This bagel shop is in a nice location and has plenty of outdoor seating. However, I give our experience a low rating because of the food. We ordered two egg everything bagel sandwich , and one was brought with ketchup by mistake, which made it less enjoyable to eat. The bagels were also slightly stale and cold as well. Absolutely ridiculous. Ordered at 10am, as of 11:47 I called them because 3 drivers went to the store and they still refused to make my food. They stated the refusal to make my food is because their customers I'm store have more priority. IM SORRY WHAT???!! For an 1hr and 47 minutes my group order of $50 was not a priority and I did not get a single apology. I have been a regular for 2 years but this appalling service will never bring me back here.
