terrible experience never buy food here, disgusting!!!! service terrible as well. not even worth 1 star!

This is the worst bbq I've ever had. The rib tips were just like table scraps, the links were old.

Horrible bbq, more like table scraps. There wasn't a rib tip on the bunch, and I the links were black.I wouldn't feel it to my dog.

Ok, it's been awhile since we were here because of covid but finally had the chance to stop by and have the usual rib tips and link combo with fries and the fish combo. A little disappointed because there's a lot of bones in the order as well as cold greasy fries and very little sauce. The service is good, you order and pay at the counter. The ambiance is ok, nothing fancy. After spending $60 I'm sure there's other places around to try this combo and much cheaper. This used to be our go to place when in the area but might have to change it up.

We stopped in because the smells were amazing. We both had the fish special which was a good price point, but this was an example of you get what you pay for. The shrimp had WAY too much batter on it and once you pick off the batter there wasn't much shrimp left. The catfish was sliced rather than fillet so you have backbone and rib bones in each fried portion. Once you pick out the bones there wasn't much catfish left to eat. Matter of fact, I pitched the last piece because it was just too much work. The only good thing was the meal came with a slice of bread. There is just something about fish present with "make your own sandwich" that is very "home grown" to me. Too bad the food could not overcome my warm fuzzy about the smells and the bread.

Joe's Large Rib Tip that are Tough

Waste of time and MoneyHad a taste for some rib tips today Saturday, August 10, 2024, and thought about Joe's located at 350 N. Wolf Rd, Hillside, IL. Pulled up to Joe's the smell of BBQ is floating in the air. Stood in a short line, waited my turn to order, asked for a Large Tip w/Extra Mild Sauce. They are understaffed; they need more people working. Waited 20 minutes got my tips and went home. Opened my rib tips, I'm ready to get down only to be terribly disappointed. The rib tips are scarcely sauced, they look half done, I bite into a small piece of rib tip that is tough as nails. I'm done with Joe's Bar-B- & Fish, Hillside, IL. It had been over a year since I had been to Joe's and now I remember why!

Tips and links are my go to. Best links I find anywhere. Good local take out spot. They now have Joes bbq sauce bottled!

Their inside feels like a greenhouse with tons of glass walls around but they also have a large patio (some shaded, some not spots). On Saturdays, they do 1/2 price frozen drinks, $1 wings, and $17 buckets of booze. I tried the Frozen Espresso Martini which was the perfect patio sipper! My friends got the Redtide which was a bit tart for me but they loved it. For food, we got some shareables for the table: Elote, Mac & Cheese, Ancho Carrots, and Cornbread. All the sides were amazing but the standouts were the elote and carrots. For meals, everyone got a mixture of Sandwiches and Golden Boy Plates. The Pig & Bull Sandwich was tender, packed with flavor, and loved the sweet slaw paired with it. Even on the plates, the meat was all juicy and tender. I absolutely loved the vibe of this spot and cannot wait for more warm weather to come back! Be sure to check out their weekly specials for extra deals!

Got the trinity and a 1/4 chicken with the slaw and rice (I haven't had rice in a bit. My genes were craving it). Off menu they added some slices of pork steak on as a free treat. And that probably was my favorite item. A wonderful sticky pork steak where it ate similar to a beef cheek. A slightly sweet honey(?) glaze. Who needs chapstick when you got these. The ribs also had a slightly sweet glaze that gave a great competition style bite. Very meaty on top. I always fall back and forth on if I prefer full spares vs St. Louis cuts and today I'm a StL guy. The heat and spice level for the sausage today was nice and I'm taking bites in my hotel room while typing this. The 1/4 was Smokey but the skin was a little tough. Tho still flavorful and idk why but the sauce that came with it gave me some graham cracker vibes that I'm all for with how good it was. I kinda got distracted by a bird outside rather than the one on my platter so I wasn't fully paying attention. lol. A nice crunchy black pepper bark on the brisket with a moist interior. I love the contrast of texture it brings. I'm stoked about finding and stopping by Golden Boy Barbecue today. Especially because I totally spent at least an hr. Maybe a little more talking about bbq around TX and rest of the states with Joey there.

I'm glad I called because they had holiday hours today and glad they mentioned they are stopping taking orders at a certain time and I was able to place an order to go. It's in a private parking lot in a strip mall type set up. Their location is in the corner end of the lot closest to the main road. As you walk in, you can smell the barbecue and looking around. It's a nice spacious place. They also have a bar along with a full arcade game room. When I came in to pick up my order, they were pretty quick. The staff was friendly in the place was clean. As I got home, I unloaded the food, it was cute. They wished me a happy Fourth of July of my to go bag. This is what we ordered: -Full slab barbecue pork ribs, it was nice and smoky. They served the type of ribs that you have to work on chewing it tear off the bone a bit. It's not fall off the bone, soft meat which I prefer myself. I requested the Chicago Sweet barbecue sauce which I like the flavor, but keep in mind. It does have a black pepper taste to it if you're sensitive to spicy. -half a pound of brisket we requested the fattier side of our order. It was very good soft and juicy. I would definitely get this again. -side of Mac and cheese, this was pretty good. I get it again. The noodles were soft and cheesy. Keep in mind. There's also a little heat spiciness if you like it like that. -mini corn dogs and fries kids menu, the corn dog was OK however I felt it was a bit overcooked a little too crunchy and the hotdog ended up being a bit dry and the fries had some good flavor, but for some reason, it was overcooked as well, someone in the reviews made a comment it could be twice fried fries that made it looked dark which I'd rather have it golden color not dark overcooked fresh cut fries. I give the place 4/5 stars service and how clean the place is inside. I would give my food order, 3/5 stars overall 3.5 stars.. Overall, it was OK barbecue not sure if it's because I ordered at the end of their day or not of certain dishes over a bit dry, fried/cooked... I'll have to come back here when they first open and dine in and update my review as I like bbq and support local businesses.

One was lean brisket, burnt ends and pulled pork with the brisket beans and onion rings. The other was lean brisket, pulled pork and rib tips with Mac and cheese and bacon potato salad. We were both disappointed with the brisket, it was very thinly sliced and had a heavy smoke flavor. We did like the burnt ends, rib tips and the pulled pork. We did not care for any of the sides. They weren't anything special. The kicker was our order of sweet potato fries, that cost $3.95. What we received was ridiculous. When I picked up our order, was just asked the name and that was it. No greeting or thank you. It was early when I picked up the order so it wasn't that crowded. So I don't know how the ambiance would be.

Well when I got there, they had 1 of the 2. Can you guess which? If you guessed ramen, you're wrong. They stopped serving food when COVID hit or around COVID. I was bummed to say the least because per Yelp, they had some pretty decent ramen. Had my mouth all watering for some good ramen only to get disappointed. Oh well, they did have another one of my favorite things - SLOTSSSSS! Yassssssss! I popped 10 bucks in one of'em and less than 10 mins later I left with a hundred and two bucks. #YaGirlWasHappy I'd say that more than made up for the no ramen having restaurant/slot establishment. I wish I could recommend them for the ramen but I can't but if you looking to win some money playing the slots, this is your place.

They're crispy, but there's also a little chew to them that's hard to described. After they're fried, they're tossed in a wok with the toppings. Even my side fries were drizzled with ketchup, ranch, green onion and some other tasty bits. And yes, David the owner was a very funny and likable guy. It was funny walking in and seeing the owner being super chill and down to earth and cracking jokes with me and some of the other guests, who were total regulars. He kind of reminded me of Mitch Hedberg when he spoke. A bit disappointed that they didn't have rice, but totally happy that they had my pickled radish. I'm a fan of this place. You can tell that this guy is really passionate about his wings.
