Been going here since I was a kid. Definitely a suburban staple. I LOVE the Priscilla's punch. My go to is the shrimp dinner.

Ok. I'm officially done. Before I start, yes I know Sundays are busy for any restaurant especially after church. I came in at 330 on a Sunday to order cornbread. That's it. But I entered the soul food circus. The parking lot!!! As much money as they bring in it is night time to refigure the parking situation. It's cramped, no flow of in and out and it takes forever to get out. Or in. Once in, I waited to place the order but there was so much chaos! Wrong orders, orders never made, customers ordered items, waited only to be told the item they had been waiting on was sold out, changed the item and wait some more. Door dash and pickups were extremely chaotic and the waiting room was crowded. One woman was literally waiting 30 min on an extra order of potato salad. It seems like ordering ahead did not help cut down on anyone's wait time. I had no issues with staff. They remained professional in the midst of this chaos but I would just like to see more organization to their set up!!! I truly want to support local, especially POC, but I can't waste any more time hoping for them to get it together or revamp their systems. I can't speak to the taste of the food because I only order cornbread. After today, Jiffy Mix will be back in rotation because I can't handle this much chaos and stress. read more

Complete Slop! This is an establishment that I've been going to for Years!!! Never again! Not only is their food flavoring completely off, also my opinion is, they do not operate from a place of integrity! To me, that's a big No, No. I would highly recommend Macarthurs or 6978 soul food restaurants instead. Delicious food, and the restaurants appreciate their patrons. Back story to my review of Priscilla's. Long story short, I am an African American woman, he was born and raised in Chicago westside. A couple years ago I relocated to another state, for work purposes. However, my family and friends are all in Chicago. I do return home to Chicago possibly 2-3x a year. When doing so, I try my best to spend my black dollars with black establishments. Priscilla's is one of those restaurants. I have property there in the west suburb close by. The 1st Sunday of August, I happened to be in town. I had my daughter to go and pick up a couple plates. I wanted some soul food. In preparation of this, she used Priscilla's website to directly order from them. This website even gave an estimated time the order would be ready! Boom! She headed out to pick up our merch. Why did she have to stand and wait in the restaurant for nearly a hour & a half for her order to be given to her. When she got home with the plates, why was the chicken Ice Box cold, with warm gravy poured on top. Everything that was paid for was a disaster!!! I've had issues with them before, and they resolved it, so I didn't think much of it. Although I was hungry, I gave them a call and left a voice mail. It's been two weeks, I'm still waiting on a call back from them. The utter disrespect of not even speaking with me. I even called a couple days later... Basically, I am going to file a complaint. It's not the money for me, it's the disrespect that has me offended. I'm now back out of town, over 2,000 miles away. They could have even offered credits for my daughter or a refund! Nothing!!! There's a saying, sometimes it's your own kind that will do you the dirtiest. Honestly as I think back on this. 1st Sunday is normally crowded at all restaurants in the black community. I think they may have run out of food, specifically chicken. If that was the case, just say that. Don't send me chicken that was in the back of the fridge from 3 days ago. Disgusting behavior. My money spends everywhere, but never again in this outdated dump! Believe me, I will file a couple of complaints. Even if I never get a red penny back, I want to alert customers, beware. The service was friendly and helpful, menu choices plentiful and the food was delicious. The greens with turkey were great (they have them with pork for those who prefer), their catfish was fresh and cooked perfectly, the dressing with gravy was flavorful, others commented on how good the baked and fried chicken and the desserts are (once again lots of great choices). The cornbread muffin was the right kinda sweet and texture and the pineapple coconut cake was light and delicious. Overall a casual place to get some good soul food in the suburbs. read more

The service is always good and the place is always pretty clean and running like a well oiled machine. However, after years of coming here I have to say that the quality has declined steadily. Though everything is fried to perfection especially the chicken, the catfish is so small thin and flimsy. The Mac is subpar it's not even real grated cheese. No roux. No sauce. I'm not sure what's going on with it. Beef short ribs were pretty good though. Pricilla punch wayyyy too sweet. Peach cobbler was grainy and weird. The texture was so off and it could use some mini dumplings or something in it. Also, only had a pack of Ken's ranch that is for salads which is just not ok. This restaurant has the worst customer service I've ever seen in my life. You place an order at 5pm. You don't walk out of the place with your order until 7pm. They always get your order wrong or they will come to you after you've waited for so long to tell you they ran out of the food you requested two hours ago. There's always a line of people waiting, each customer growing angrier and angrier because they've all been waiting for their food. No food is worth this long wait. After fifteen years of loyal support for your business, I am deeply disappointed to report an experience I had today that has fundamentally changed my view of this establishment. When I made an inquiry about a to-go cup for a drink I had only taken two sips from, the situation escalated unexpectedly. Tiffany Redmond Meane, the General Manager and the owner's daughter, came to my table. Rather than seeking to understand or de-escalate, she had already formed her own version of events and proceeded to take the side of her employee. Her demeanor was hostile. She began removing purchased food from our table, informed us we would no longer be served, and told us to leave--despite the fact that we were not finished, and my husband was in line purchasing more food. At no point did she attempt to de-escalate or reconcile the situation. When I asked if we could receive a refund given that we were being removed before finishing our meal, she accused us of trespassing and stated she would call the police, which she did. My daughter was in tears throughout. While on the phone with police, they asked if I had been violent; Ms. Redmond Meane confirmed that I had not. Had it not been for my husband's insistence and my daughter's distress, I would have remained to speak with the officers myself. It is especially disheartening that this took place at an African American owned restaurant with a beloved owner--a place I have supported from the original location through each subsequent one. To see paying customers removed and law enforcement summoned when there was no belligerence or cursing, only a request for understanding, is deeply troubling. Owner's daughter or not, effective customer service and management require skill and professionalism. The way Ms. Redmond Meane engaged us made it clear that the customer is not valued here. After fifteen years, today is where my support ends. read more

Poor experience today! Waited over an hour for our food. So did several other customers. Asked several staff for help. Asked for a manager and that was unhelpful as well. "Manager" was rude as well. Now that we're well out of the pandemic and in-house dining has resumed, I stopped in one Saturday late afternoon. The restaurant was not packed like after church on Sundays, so I got to enjoy the meal without people on top of me. I ordered fried catfish, candied yams, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and corn muffin. The catfish was meatier this time. The sides were also several notches tastier. And the cornbread was more savory than sweet. Takeout and delivery during the pandemic must have come with some shortcuts because my recent dining experience was 10 times better, and the first wasn't bad. read more

My wife and I ordered delivery using Door Dash which was quick and convenient. I had delicious fried catfish with yummy greens and peach cobbler. I had ordered black eyed peas but instead got 2 helpings of greens so I suspect they were out of the peas. My wife had baked chicken and candied yams that she said were great. I discovered Priscilla's Ultimate Soulfood Cafeteria after Gino W, a yelper out of Country Club Hills visited, reviewed and posted a picture of the collard greens which I came across on my 'local picks near you' feed via yelp platform. Once I noted its location being near an area I frequent, Priscilla's became a must visit for me at some point while in the area. I ended up ordering their veggie plate which came with four sides, and a muffin. As my sides, I chose mashed potatoes with gravy, baked macaroni & cheese, fried green tomatoes, and pinto beans w/rice! Prior to ordering I was hesitant about ordering their baked macaroni & cheese because you just never know what you will get. However, I stuck with it, thinking why not just give it a try because I can just move on to something else if I did not like it. As much as I wanted to order collard greens, seeing that they were paired with meat was a turnoff for me being that I am vegetarian; and I just did not have the patience to pick little pieces of meat out. So, I went with the pinto beans w/rice instead, figuring that it would pair well with the cornbread muffin. Seeing fried green tomatoes was a surprise because it was the last thing I figured was on their menu. I thought to myself, fried green tomatoes! Hmmm, I have not had fried green tomatoes in a very long time, so why not. I always love ordering online via yelp because it is convenient! Most of the time my orders are completed upon my arrival or near complete. No more than 20 minutes from the time I placed my order online via yelp, I picked it up and was well on my way after just a short wait which also gave me the chance to get a feel of Priscilla's. An ideal spot for southern food, the restaurant appeared clean, and its atmosphere gave off the vibe of an old-fashioned buffet restaurant. There are a number of tables and seating available inside of the dining area which makes it the perfect spot to visit with a group; maybe even after attending church on Sunday afternoon. Now as for my food, the pinto beans w/rice were the first of the sides I ate and I could not hold back dancing because they tasted so well with the cornbread muffin. After my first bite of the mashed potatoes with gravy I said to myself, "nice!" because it was so delicious! It has been some time now since I have had good mashed potatoes and I must point out that I will more than likely order it again as a side from Priscilla's. It was so hard to not smirk upon finishing off the mashed potatoes because I enjoyed them so much. Out of all of the sides, I had the highest expectations of the baked macaroni & cheese which I must say lived up to that high expectation. It was my second favorite of the sides next to the mashed potatoes! And lastly, the fried green tomatoes! The fried green tomatoes were just that! I cannot say that I was dissatisfied with the way they tasted nor appeared. What I will say is that I did myself a disservice by not pairing it with the baked macaroni & cheese which would have really complemented its taste. While adding the final touches to this review of Priscilla's Ultimate Soulfood Cafeteria, the thought of returning put a smirk on my face. I do look forward to that as the time goes on. The baked chicken I ordered was old and stringy, over cooked. The dressing was very mushy and I could not discern what the taste of it was. It was Awful. Same with the candied yams, sort of a chemical, perfume taste. The collard greens weren't too bad. The high priced banana pudding was old, the cookies inside totally melted and soggy with three little sliced bananas on top. The meringue had all but disappeared. This food was anything but ultimate. I should've known from the start when the short fat lady with the brown and blonde, bad, dry wig came over to me "trying" to be nice. the food was warm NOT hot. The greens was warm and tasteless not enough seasoning at all, I believe the greens was from the can,, that's a no no... I was wondering why they add so much gravy to the chicken I soon found out it was because that chicken was so dry and again not enough seasoning.. I unfortunately ordered to Sunday dinners, only to find out that string beans are no longer included in a meal. They will be extra and you can have two starches rice and macaroni. We received some awful chicken and Cornish hen, that wasn't completely cooked and absolutely no seasoning with the blandish cold rice and macaroni & cheese. Contrary to the other reviews, I had a great time with the service at Priscilla's. The staff was super friendly, kind, and happy. I have a nut allergy and they assured me that there are no nut products in the food (I didn't ask about the dessert, though). The restaurant is set up like a cafeteria where you pick up a tray and ask for your entree and sides. I got the fried chicken, mac and cheese, and green beans. The food was great, but it was too salty for me. The portions were also well worth the price and I had chicken left over. My favorite was the green beans and I heard that the catfish is very good too. There was plenty of seating and everything was clean. read more

I am soooo disappointed and disgusted! I ordered catfish, rice with gravy, and mac & cheese. The dinner came with two pieces of fish. I only ate half of one because it was hard and filled deeply with grease. I believe the rice was minute made. I ate the Mac and cheese and left. Now, when I came inside, I was on the phone, so I didn't notice the outside of the restaurant until left. What I saw utterly disgusted me. The first thing I saw on the side of the building was two rat traps. I then smelled a thick smell of grease. As I got to the back parking lot, the ground was full of grease as though the grease basin overflowed. Then, as an employee sat back there eating, I saw more rat boxes. I will not be back there !!! This interesting cafe-like restaurant helped satisfy the hubby's (read: my) soul food craving. It's a large restaurant space that was nearly empty when we went. All the servers were incredibly hospitable and friendly! (Maybe cuz we were the only ones there? Idk) The food: so, so good! I think we mighta ordered one of everythang just to try it. The customer servixe was wonderful but the food... My feelings is hurt. This used to be some good food. The food today had no taste, no flavor. The mac n cheese taste like kraft, watered down with 1 cheese with no flavor. The dressing ned dressing up, no flavor. Greens taste like water with hot pepper. Sweet potatoes taste like a can that was maybe dressed up. What happened to the cooks. My neighbor warned me not to go but I had to try it again. I saw all The cars in the lot and said oh this myst be good today. Terrible! My feelings is legitimately hurt by how far they have fallen. I hate to leave this review. i am visiting Chicago from Las Vegas. This was by far the best soul food I've had in the 25 years i have been alive. Great customer service everyone was so nice and understanding that it was my first time being here. Koolaid was very good as well. 2025 and my first time tasting Priscilla's ordered (delivery) the Sunday catfish with macNcheese, collards & muffin, ALL DELICIOUS!! the fish was crispy the mac cheesy, also ordered the Kids 2 piece wing with 2 smaller sides (great adult lunch portion & value) with corn, sweet potatoes & muffin, again ALL DELICIOUS!! chicken small, crunchy and not big scary wings, corn was red pepper sweet & potatoes were on point, oh and the muffin was soft warm and buttery, Great Sunday meal, so happy I tried it. read more

Today my husband and i dine in Priscilla in Hillside IL on Roosevelt Rd, Many years ago when we visited the restaurant it was a great place to go. Sadly to announce, the price is horrible. We ordered two dinners and they charged us $70.00. Also, be aware there are hidden fees they don't warn you about, called Cilla Dine In, $8.99 to be in a low-class restaurant is sad. All and all, this was the worst experience we had ever encountered. Never again will we visit this place. read more

I have been here for 4 hours waiting on my Thanksgiving catering order. *UPDATE* I finally got my order after I went on epic rant/meltdown in the restaurant which was four and a half hours into my wait. The owner lost it on me and I lost it on her and other customers lost it on the owner too. I went home with my food but did feel bad about having to go off in order to get my food so I called the owner, left a message and apologized. I also offered to volunteer at her restaurant in order to be apart of the solution instead of the problem. I hope she allows me to do so. I have never been more disgusted. This place has a major problem with parking and the call-in/online food pickup process for their customers. AND I KNEW THIS GOING IN. Why? Cuz I want to support this business. WELL not anymore. I place an order online. 20 mins away, I arrive a few mins early and wait, (remembering their past history). I have an update that my food would be ready at 2:15, it's 2:05. So i decided to wait the rest of the time in the restaurant. Why? cuz i love my people, culture and ambience that comes along with it. When I walk in, it's packed with people waiting and in line to order. I go uh-oh. lol. The person behind the counter asks who placed orders online? I go up to the counter thinking maybe there is a miracle (it's holiday season). The gentleman behind the counter asks for the last 4 digits and promptly says you are early and it wont be ready till about 2:15-2:20 , you're to early. I dismissed the condescending tone and just waited. At 2:25 another gentleman comes up and says what was your order #? I go oh no! BY THE WAY, the app on my phone says your food is ready! Now I'm looking for the condescending dude who I talked to first who is no longer coming to the counter but side eyeing me from the back! Are you kidding! NOOOOOW I'm telling the 2nd gentleman who is frantically looking for my order everywhere, nawww I wanna talk to the that other guy who told me i was early while walking away....let's not forget the app says the food is ready! He never comes. He keeps sending the 2nd guy out to me who is doing everything he can to help me. Almost an hr later, 30 mins after my app said my order is ready and I have no answers, I get Grubhub on the phone. They offer to cancel my order and give me $20 credit. I'm not looking for a credit, I want my food, I want them to explain why this happened. They get a manager on the line who tells me something very important. If you are found in this situation, know the following .. Grubhub says once the order is initiated on-line the restaurant has to accept it and at that point the restaurant sends the updates on when the food is done and ready..... That tells me the restaurant simply lost my order and never owned up to it. Had me waiting way to long to tell me nothing! I hope the manager from this restaurant sees this. I won't be stepping in their restaurant and I will pass this along to my friends who values their time more than to be subjected to this type of service. read more

I was visiting some family in Chicago and we were going to Queen of Heaven cemetery. We stopped into Priscilla's because there was a sign outside that said, "You hungry?" And we were starving! We had caught an early flight and didn't have a chance to eat. We ordered fried chicken, smothered pork chops, and fried catfish with collard greens, green beans, macaroni, cornbread, and mashed potatoes. We also got their fruit punch which is very sweet! As a loyal customer of Priscilla's Soul Food, it deeply pains me to have to leave this negative review. I have been coming to this establishment for years, just like how I have been going to McArthur's for as long as I can remember. However, my recent experience with their peach cobbler was extremely disappointing. I don't know who made it, but it was quite clear that the cook did not possess the necessary skills to create a delicious dessert. The dough is what makes the peach cobbler and it tasted goowy and terrible. I also need to let this be known the dressing was sweeter than the cranberry sauce. I believe whoever was in charge of making this dish on that day needs to be replaced because the quality was simply unacceptable and nothing SOUL about it. It breaks my heart to have to criticize a restaurant that I have grown to love, but I hope that this feedback will be taken into consideration and improvements will be made in the future. Thanks for your response but remember those four plates was $122. and sad that management or no supervisor check the food because as I stated the dressing was sweeter than the cranberry sauce and how was that even allowed to be served and I know Sunday's are busy and so does the cook.
