Porkchops with gravy Candied yams Turkey greens Homemade cornbread Shortribs with gravy Mac and cheese

I'm back, On a lunch date. been trying to catch me some oxtail at Priscilla. So I'll settle for the smothered chops, turkey greens, mashed potatoes and candied yams I love me some down home cooking. The services are amazingly pleasant and the place e is big and spacious.

Catfish, dressing with gravy, greens with turkey and cornbread muffin.

The service was friendly and helpful, menu choices plentiful and the food was delicious. The greens with turkey were great (they have them with pork for those who prefer), their catfish was fresh and cooked perfectly, the dressing with gravy was flavorful, others commented on how good the baked and fried chicken and the desserts are (once again lots of great choices). The cornbread muffin was the right kinda sweet and texture and the pineapple coconut cake was light and delicious. Overall a casual place to get some good soul food in the suburbs.

The service is always good and the place is always pretty clean and running like a well oiled machine. However, after years of coming here I have to say that the quality has declined steadily. Though everything is fried to perfection especially the chicken, the catfish is so small thin and flimsy. The Mac is subpar it's not even real grated cheese. No roux. No sauce. I'm not sure what's going on with it. Beef short ribs were pretty good though. Pricilla punch wayyyy too sweet. Peach cobbler was grainy and weird. The texture was so off and it could use some mini dumplings or something in it. Also, only had a pack of Ken's ranch that is for salads which is just not ok. I'll end it here but please do better with the catfish and the sides.

The food was ok except the dessert was aweful. I got the peach cobbler and the banana pudding a wastei got both large order wasre of my money

Now that we're well out of the pandemic and in-house dining has resumed, I stopped in one Saturday late afternoon. The restaurant was not packed like after church on Sundays, so I got to enjoy the meal without people on top of me. I ordered fried catfish, candied yams, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and corn muffin. The catfish was meatier this time. The sides were also several notches tastier. And the cornbread was more savory than sweet. Takeout and delivery during the pandemic must have come with some shortcuts because my recent dining experience was 10 times better, and the first wasn't bad.

The draft! Gangway, I have a review coming ; )

I discovered Priscilla's Ultimate Soulfood Cafeteria after Gino W, a yelper out of Country Club Hills visited, reviewed and posted a picture of the collard greens which I came across on my 'local picks near you' feed via yelp platform. Once I noted its location being near an area I frequent, Priscilla's became a must visit for me at some point while in the area. I ended up ordering their veggie plate which came with four sides, and a muffin. As my sides, I chose mashed potatoes with gravy, baked macaroni & cheese, fried green tomatoes, and pinto beans w/rice! Prior to ordering I was hesitant about ordering their baked macaroni & cheese because you just never know what you will get. However, I stuck with it, thinking why not just give it a try because I can just move on to something else if I did not like it. As much as I wanted to order collard greens, seeing that they were paired with meat was a turnoff for me being that I am vegetarian; and I just did not have the patience to pick little pieces of meat out. So, I went with the pinto beans w/rice instead, figuring that it would pair well with the cornbread muffin. Seeing fried green tomatoes was a surprise because it was the last thing I figured was on their menu. I thought to myself, fried green tomatoes! Hmmm, I have not had fried green tomatoes in a very long time, so why not. I always love ordering online via yelp because it is convenient! Most of the time my orders are completed upon my arrival or near complete. No more than 20 minutes from the time I placed my order online via yelp, I picked it up and was well on my way after just a short wait which also gave me the chance to get a feel of Priscilla's. An ideal spot for southern food, the restaurant appeared clean, and its atmosphere gave off the vibe of an old-fashioned buffet restaurant. There are a number of tables and seating available inside of the dining area which makes it the perfect spot to visit with a group; maybe even after attending church on Sunday afternoon. Now as for my food, the pinto beans w/rice were the first of the sides I ate and I could not hold back dancing because they tasted so well with the cornbread muffin. After my first bite of the mashed potatoes with gravy I said to myself, "nice!" because it was so delicious! It has been some time now since I have had good mashed potatoes and I must point out that I will more than likely order it again as a side from Priscilla's. It was so hard to not smirk upon finishing off the mashed potatoes because I enjoyed them so much. Out of all of the sides, I had the highest expectations of the baked macaroni & cheese which I must say lived up to that high expectation. It was my second favorite of the sides next to the mashed potatoes! And lastly, the fried green tomatoes! The fried green tomatoes were just that! I cannot say that I was dissatisfied with the way they tasted nor appeared. What I will say is that I did myself a disservice by not pairing it with the baked macaroni & cheese which would have really complemented its taste. While adding the final touches to this review of Priscilla's Ultimate Soulfood Cafeteria, the thought of returning put a smirk on my face. I do look forward to that as the time goes on. And as Gino W shared the goodness of this restaurant located in Hillside, I share my endorsement of it as well with you all. ~ Live in gratitude ~ Thomas G

Been going here since I was a kid. Definitely a suburban staple. I LOVE the Priscilla's punch. My go to is the shrimp dinner.

Horrible service, rude cashier and extreme wait time for order. Expect at least 30 to 40 minutes of waiting. Not worth it at all.

The ambience is unmatched--cozy, welcoming, and full of charm. My husband and I used to live nearby, and some of our favorite memories are walking over on weekends with our pup, grabbing coffee, and sitting out front just enjoying the moment. I recently visited the Elmhurst Craft location for an event and had one of those experiences that just sticks with you. I was chatting with a barista about how much I love (and deeply miss!) the Equinox. She mentioned she was newer and hadn't tried it, but saw it in the recipe book and agreed it sounded amazing--which, for the record, it absolutely is (or was ). A little while later, she came running up to me asking if I was the one talking about the Equinox. When I said yes, she surprised me with an Equinox sticker she had dug up. Such a small, simple gesture--but it genuinely meant so much and made my entire night. To the Brewpoint leadership team: that moment alone earned my loyalty for life. Customer service like that is rare, and it deserves to be recognized. I didn't catch her name, but I was there Thursday, March 19 between 6-8 PM at the Craft location--she was running the sample table and sharing the carrot cake latte (which, by the way, was incredible). Please pass along a huge thank you and some well-deserved recognition--she truly made an impact. And one last thing... BRING BACK THE EQUINOX!! Pretty please

They still had the same coffee menu, seasonal drinks, and baked good offering; but, felt a lot more like a neighborhood destination. I ended up ordering coffee for my work team and all were impressed by the flavors! I got a Black Americano, Hot Borealis Latte, and the Whipped Carrot Cake Latte for myself. The Carrot Cake Latte may be a new all time favorite of mine! It wasn't too sweet but just leaned into the flavor profile enough. My coworker who had the Hot Borealis said it may have been her favorite latte she's tried. I also got the Herbed Goat Cheese Croissant which is familiar yet unique with the pop of savoriness. Overall, this was a great experience as a stop in when passing through the area. Brewpoint continues to have great flavors that leaves a lasting impression. Staff is friendly and pricing is fair.

Probably the slowest I've had at a coffee shop. It took over an hour for my latte to be ready. The pastries then took an additional 20 minutes after that. They also got my friend's pastry order wrong so she had to wait even longer. Additionally it was extremely hot inside the cafe. Most people were complaining about how toasty it was. I did feel the AC kick in maybe 5 mins prior to leaving. I tried a seasonal drink - Ube latte. I didn't taste the Ube at all, + I didn't taste any type of the espresso. It just tasted like milk. For the pastries I tried the guava pastry and a cheese empanada. Both were bland and underwhelming. CFS is pricey - the quality, service, and atmosphere did not live up to how expensive it is.

Pretty sure it healed my soul right away. Taste wise, super smooth. Nice and hot. Had light cinnamon notes that show up after a sip. Not overly sweet either, which I liked. Creamy texture, almost like melted chocolate but lighter. They even did latte art on top and served it in this artisan cup. Looked way too nice for something I was about to destroy in five minutes. Came for chocolate, left spiritually repaired. Honestly might come back next time my soul needs maintenance.

This is a very tiny coffee shop and for those of you not terribly familiar with Hinsdale (myself amongst them) the place looks like it's in an alley but it's not; you're turning down the right street. There are a few parking spots down here so that makes it convenient. The shop has a good drink menu and also has donuts/muffins/sandwiches. I had a breakfast panini and I liked it. I wasn't sure what I'd think since I am always a bit on the fence about avocado, but wanted to try it without modifications. I liked the black beans on it more than I expected to. Overall it's an ok spot but the drinks are better than the food options. The owner has a great handle on her regulars; she was greeting folks as they came in and remembered the coffee order of a woman who hasn't been in for a while because she remarked on how surprised she was that she remembered her usual. There's no seating in the cafe, it's strictly a grab-and-go place. But they have an app of their own that you can use to order, and based upon what the owner was telling a customer, it generally works better than using the Toast app.

The only downside, and the reason I'm taking off 1 star, was my bad experience with their seating policy. I had planned to stay for a while on a weekend to finish my coffee and get some work done. However, because the café was busy and completely full, a waitress politely came to my table and asked me to leave while I was in the middle of working. I understand that restaurants need to accommodate waiting customers, especially during busy hours, but I was still disappointed by the experience. I rarely have been asked to leave a café or coffee shop while I was in the middle of working. Because of this, I would probably choose another café in the future when I'm looking for a place where I can comfortably work for a while. That said, the food was fantastic, and I'd recommend coming here for the pancakes alone.
