Wow. A 5 star restaurant? I'm not sure what people experienced here to garner such an elevated rating, but here's my take on it: This is a greasy spoon diner of cramped quarters to say the least. A bit of confusion on whether or not to seat ourselves, or if we will be directed to seating, but we soon figured out that it's seat-yourself. We sat at a dirty table that was cleaned pretty quickly. I saw that the floors were filthy and littered with the morning's trash, to include used napkins, sugar packets, and coffee creamers. The window and blinds by our table were filthy as well, with splashed food and bits of ick that looked like they had been there for a long time. I ordered something simple off the simple menu. I like simple. Simple is good. The food arrived rather quickly. It was hot and good, and cooked as ordered. Service was fairly attentive by the older waitress, not so much by the younger one who would just drop stuff off at the table as a drive-by. When leaving and paying for the meal, I got a good look into the kitchen, which is right behind the register: Absolute filthy mess. Had I seen this when I walked in, I would NOT have eaten here. I have no idea how the food came out the way it did. There's certainly nothing here that would bring me back, not even in a pinch. Maybe after a good floor-to-ceiling cleaning, and a cook who knows how to keep his kitchen clean. read more

This restaurant actually made me so furious. I went in for a meal with my family (many of which are immunocompromised because of diabetes and a lot of them are over the age of 50). As we get to the restaurant, one of the staff members comes out and starts talking to us, without a mask put on... I immediately take 2 steps back and urge my family to do the same and I hoped to see some more precautions taken as we enter. When we go in, you can see the kitchen and the chefs also ARENT WEARING MASKS.. WHILE MAKING OUR FOOD.. and they seat us and there werent any social distancing measures taken either. I've never felt so unsafe in my life. When they were giving us out drinks, the waitress was literally talking over our waters.. and i asked if they had bottled water and they didnt. Later on, I saw our main waitress aggressively coughing into her shirt. I can't believe this is the kind of treatment I got. If it weren't for my family urging to stay because they were starving, I would've left there immediately. Please, if you have older family members or if you are immunocompromised, do NOT come here!! This is definitely a hometown diner and that's a great thing. It was packed with locals and the waitress knew we had never been there before. The service was prompt and friendly and the food was delicious and filling. Huge portion sizes. Their home fries were fantastic! We were new to the area the first time we went in. Small place , we were seated quickly. The waitress knew we were new (she had seen us play pool at the place next door) and offered a cpl items from the menu. The food was better than expected! Cooked the way we ordered, hot and very tasty. We went to the counter to pay then realized it was a cash only place. We apologized saying my husband will go to the closest ATM and be right back, I'll wait so they don't think we were not going to pay. To our complete surprise we were told, "np, come back veggie we close at 3, or catch up another day" NO KIDDING! I'm from the east coast of Florida, my husband is from Chicago, this would NEVER happen there!! They would call the police and you could be taken to jail. Needless to say, my husband went next door, we paid, tipped, and applauded the home town feeling. We've been back several times, mostly on the weekends and sometimes there a line and the wait can get long. But the food it good!! On the down side, it could use a face lift. To be honest, we have been many many places for breakfast, big chain restaurants to mom and pop diners, this place is in the top of our list. If you're looking for delicious cafe food then you can't get much better than Joe's Cafe. As soon as we seated ourselves the cook came to take our drink order since they were pretty busy. Then I waitress came to tell us all about their menu. Since my boyfriend always drinks his coffee with something sweet she recommended their pancakes. We ordered one chocolate chip pancake to share and they so kindly made the pancake into two smaller pancakes. That's great service! The pancake was amazing! He's a big coffee drinker and he said, and I quote, "now this is good coffee." I ordered a cheeseburger and fries (for breakfast lol) and since I'm a huge cheeseburger lover it was definitely one of the best. They added jalapeños and banana peppers with all the regular topping. My favorite was the crinkle cut fries though, perfect! My boyfriend ordered over hard eggs, hash browns and toast. Since we always share food his was delicious, too. We almost tried the fried ice cream but we were too full! But we'll be back! Our bill was only $14 and some change! Btw, they only take cash so bring some with you! read more

I am not sure how it got a 4star review. It was small and dirty, i ordered a western omelet, hash browns,and chocolate milk. The omelet was one of the worst i have had. Chocolate milk was powdered and came with a dirty spoon to mix it. The walls were covered with food splatter. Definitely will not be eating here again read more

I've learned to love mom n pop restaurants, and this one is great! It's a really small shop so it's not good for big groups. It's great for a nice family breakfast and lunch. My favorite breakfast item is still the biscuits and gravy. A very large portion for $3.75. The staff is really friendly and your coffee cup is never empty. The hours are only until 3 pm daily and bring cash as they DO NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS! ! Other than that this is a great place. Try it! read more
