I would leave zero stars if I could. My dad has been going to Joe's for years and years and recommended this shop for a battery replacement. I checked online and the shop is suppose to open at 10am on Fridays. We were there at 10:02 am and the shop was still locked up. There was even a delivery attempt notice on the door. We left and came back at 10:30am, and the shop was still locked up but now there was a "be back in 15 minutes" sign on the front door and two more customers waiting outside in the rain. Why post shop hours if you are not going to be open during those hours? Your customers and potential customers, are worth better customer service than that. Well this shop lost us as customers and I will definitely tell my father who has been a loyal customer for years. What an awful first experience. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS SHOP. read more

Perhaps it's under new ownership or I happened to come in on the day they staffed the B team, but this place was not worth my time. Needed a new battery for my watch, so I decided to check this place out. It was a Sunday, so I decided to call first, just in case they were closed. They were closed (which is fine for a Sunday), but they don't have a recording to let you know that they are closed and what their hours are. Drove by later that day and saw that they were open Mon-Fri with reduced hours on Saturday. So I came back the next day, Monday, around noon. Door closed, lights off, no one inside. Check the door. It's locked. Look at the door. Hours: Mon-Fri 10:00-5:00 (or 6:00 I can't remember, but it doesn't matter because it's noon). Look down at a tiny little note tucked into the bottom corner of the door: "NEW HOURS!! Tues-Fri 10:00 to 5:00." So they have incorrect hours/days open posted on their door in huge letters. I now have 75% confidence that if I stop in on Tuesday they will be open and alas they are. I walk past the sign out front that advertises watch battery replacement, go up to the front, hand the gentleman my watch and took a look around the store. After 20 minutes of pounding and scraping, he comes back out and says, "I couldn't get the back off. I got the pins out, but I couldn't get the back off, so I can't replace your battery." He hands me my watch, turns around and disappears into the back. A quick inspection reveals three gouges along the seem where the back meets the body and a scrape along the bevel. Disgruntled by the fact that my watch was damaged and that I will have to go to a jeweler for a simple fix I search for watch battery replacement on my phone. One of the top ten links lead me to an eHow page describing how to remove the back from my model watch. I took the back of my watch off in my car, without damaging it, in front of the watch store that could not figure it out. A real life example of the You Had One Job meme. read more

This shop is absolutely wonderful! I live in Brentwood and did not find a place in the surrounding area that would fix a wall clock. I called around and 1 of the places out here recommended we call Joes Clock and Watch shop. I called 1 week before driving to the shop, my phone message was returned within a few hours and I explained to the owner what my issue was. The following Saturday I walked into the shop and the owners greeted me, they knew exactly who I was and remembered our phone call. Fast and friendly is what this shop is all about! As the owner fixed my clock he explained what he was doing and the wife/owner was entertaining my sons with all the neat clocks they have in their shop. Last Friday I was looking for a fast, quick, and easy watch repair in the Concord/Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek area. I was on my lunch break and need a fast easy resolution to my battery malfunction. Did a quick search and found the number to Joe's Clock and Watch repair. As a heads up I decided to give this company a call. The response was, "COME ON DOWN". Communicating that I was in a hurry, the owner Joe told me that he was just about to take off for lunch but would wait around if I was on my way... Once I arrived he immediately grabbed my two watches and went to work. I ask sound AI come back in a hour once they are complete, and he replied it would only take him a few minutes and he could get them done in a couple of minutes. Highly recommend this long-time family business in downtown Concord. They do a great job. We had an old non-working electric kitchen clock from about 1930, a family heirloom, converted to quartz. Now it works great, weighs less, and still looks original. Very happy with the work, price was reasonable. This watch repair shop is the best! Joe is very good at what he does and I have had a great experience getting my watch batteries replaced and fixed. I have a cool story about how awesome Joe is. A month or so before, I brought in an old G-shock in to have the batteries replaced. I have had it for over 12 years and the backlight had already gone out, was just hoping to get the battery replaced so I could continue to use it as my beater work watch. Joe takes a looks at it, says that it is broken. I was kind of bummed out, but figured that I got my value for the watch. I told him that I didn't need it since it was broken and to not bother putting it back together. I come back a month or so later to get a different watch's battery replaced. He recognizes me and says, "Your the guy that brought a G-shock awhile ago! I ended up being able to fix it after fiddling around with it..I was hoping that some day you would be back, since I didn't have your number!". I was so happy about his honesty and his attempt to fix the original watch, I will always come back to Joe for all of my watch needs. Not only did he fix it, the backlight for the G-Shock works now! It works better than before and is practically brand new. And all he did was charge me for the battery. Awesome guy, great shop, THANKS JOE!! Great family shop in same location for 40 years! Went in for watch battery replacement and watch band (which was ordered.) Met friendly shop doggy (behind barrier) when I went back to pick up the band. Interesting to browse the old grandfather and cuckoo, etc. clocks while there. easy free parking just around the corner. So nice to have this family business in the area when we mostly have chains now. (Not far from Lettuce Inn, a great little family lunch spot on the north side of Todos Santos park.) read more

I found that the gasket to keep my Wenger watch water resistant was damaged. My husband's Swiss Military watch, I know, needs a special tool to replace the back so it's a job for the pros. It was a good omen that I found free parking right in front of the store and I could park there for an hour. Both watches were put back in working order while I waited less than 10 minutes. Joe even had a replacement gasket and gave me great advice on taking care of my "older" watch. I couldn't be happier. read more

Driving by, I noticed Joe's shop. I happened to have with me my husbands watch that recently stopped working. I went in to see if I could have the watch looked at, expecting to leave with it as it was. My husband & I assumed his very expensive watch was solar powered & that it would be just as expensive to repair. Joe took a quick look at it & said all it needed was a battery replacement. its unfortunate this place used to be a great place when the old man ran the place now the new joe is not professional i had my coo coo clock repaired there and it has not worked since i brought it back he oiled the clock and said it needed to break in give it some time well now its out off warranty and he could care less if it works or not also while clock was in his possesion it was damaged and he took no ownership to the damage but he did do a lousy repair to it do not rec this guy if so take before and after pictures of the clock before leaving it with him Joe you know who I am you should have made this right reccommend finding different clock shop that will stand behind there work regaurdless of warranty time it sat on my wall how can it break sitting there read more
