Food: I got the Olive burger platter. Burger (bacon, cheese, LTO, house sauce served with coleslaw, large portion of fries and a cup of soup). Everything was good (sides and burger bun/ toppings). Unfortunately where it disappointed was the burger itself. Although it was angus ....the preformed patty with dried up edges , vaguely freezer burned taste and ordered medium was served very well done. So unfortunately the star of the show itself... the burger... is not recommended.

A fellow New Yorker recommended this diner, while we were at another diner contemplating if the…read moretuna salad was any good. Which I said, not really if you like it NY style. Then she said, "you know who does great tuna salad? It's a diner over in Columbia!" But she couldn't remember right there what it was called. I googled diners in Columbia and I read back to her she shouted , "Black Olive"!!!! I'm here with two friends but didn't order tuna as it's breakfast and so I ordered eggs Benedict with turkey sausage instead of the Canadian bacon, and lemon on the side since I love my hollandaise sauce tangy. I get my order but not as I requested. Canadian bacon is in there and turkey sausage on a side plate. The hollandaise sauce looks like melted cheddar and no lemon on the side. Worst of all I cut into the poached eggs and they're too hard. Well I was just too disappointed in their skill level to ask them to redo. Our amazing waitress was trying to talk me into ordering something else if I didn't want a redo. She had a manager come by and I told him what I ordered and how I got it. It was ok I didn't want to trouble anyone. He insisted they'd get it right so I gave in. A few minutes later he presents me with jiggly poached eggs on top of turkey sausage and wedges of lemon. I will say I was impressed the second time around, though the hollandaise sauce needs work! Here's a quick blender recipe Ingredients: 3 egg yolks, 1 tbsp lemon juice, pinch salt, 1/2 cup hot melted butter. No need to make it from powder. You "can" taste the difference! Over all very happy with the cleanliness, service, attention and will be back mid March for that tuna sandwich. Mmm can't wait!

Wait staff was wonderfully attentive and polite. Only one hiccup - missing bacon- was very swiftly corrected. Cream of crab soup was thick and loaded with plenty of Chesapeake Bay Blue crab meat. (I would have enjoyed a traditional squirt of sherry to enhance flavor...but not here. Still delicious.) Other entrees and dudes were served promptly and done just right. Highlight of the visit was a cherry float (old fashioned ice cream soda)!!!! Yes, indeed.

Hinkle's Restaurant is an old-fashioned soda fountain and restaurant. Their menu has a little bit of everything - and so many classics: burgers and hot dogs, haddock, crab cakes, a fried oyster platter, liver and onions, sandwiches and wraps, salads, pierogis, all-day breakfast, and more. When I arrived this past Saturday for lunch, I asked for a seat the bar/counter, since I was enjoying a solo meal. The service at the counter was great - friendly, fast, helpful. I ordered the Old Fashioned Shifter ("a favorite of Pennsylvania Railroad workers; the Shifter is ham and cheese, lettuce, tomato, sweet pickle, and mayo"), fries, and a Lime Rickey. The sandwich was great - simple and delicious. The Lime Rickey wasn't my favorite - I thought it was just a bit too artificial-tasting and syrup-y (some fresh lime juice would've made a big difference). But overall, I enjoyed my meal! The restaurant itself has a lot of charm. You can see the history in the space, but its recent renovation also means that it's a very comfortable restaurant - historic but modern in the ways you want a restaurant to be, too. I enjoyed my meal here. I'd happily return!

I mean it was RANK, just heated up. Took it back to get a refund, which was declined. Lady inside offered to "exchange" our food and, in her own words, "cook it right this time." I told her no repeatedly, we just wanted our money back, we received old food. (Not willing to give the restaurant another chance for obvious reasons.) She refused the refund. We told her to smell the food because just by smelling it was obvious the food was bad. Our sweet and sour sauce had a fermented taste and smell. The rice was old and dry. The BBQ pork was overcooked and chewy, like old gum. The only thing that was RIGHT with our order was the 2-liter Pepsi we got prepackaged. The lady refused to give us a refund and admitted to knowingly serving us old food. Asked if she does this to everyone, she responded, "no, just you." Long story short, I will not be giving my business and money to a restaurant that knowingly serves old and BAD FOOD!!! DO NOT ORDER FOOD FROM HERE BECAUSE ONCE YOU BUY IT, IT'S YOURS OLD OR NOT! THEY DO NOT GIVE REFUNDS!
