The best lobster rolls anywhere! The shack is scaled down from the old one but quality is great.

I can't recommend this place at all!!!!! Do not in any way shape or form see what people like about it. Went there last week for takeout. I got a tiny lobster roll on a tiny bun. The lobster wasn't in any kind of butter sauce as had been advertised, it was just a little plain lobster meat and not much of it. The fries were horribly soggy. I tried to revive them in my toaster over once we got home but nothing helped. My parter's fried scallops were the worst he's had. He is pretty tolerant but even he said: "well we tried it and now we can write this place off our list". So don't waste your money or time on Joe's. read more

Food was very good and fresh made. The whole Belly Clams were cooked very well and tasty. Disappointed in the portion size of the Clams considering the price of of $22 for the platter. (9 clams). The fries and Cole slaw. Also very good and fresh. My wife had the Cheese Burger platter with fries and a drink. The beef is freshly grinded and was cooked to the proper doneness. Overall the food was delicious and above average. Just a little pricey for the clams. For a small roadside stand with just a few picnic tables to enjoy your meal. If you want to be completely ripped off, go to this roadside food truck and buy the clam belly dinner for $25.00 and get 7 tiny clams and about 10 French fries. Working in the hospitality industry, I completely understand food prices have gone up. But for $20 I was disappointed in this lobster roll. Served on a small hot dog bun with a few chunks. Joe's Home Cookin' is the place to be! We stopped in there when we saw the enormous lobster sign because we were shocked to see lobster in the middle of Vermont. Let me tell you, this stop might have been one of the best decisions I've ever made. The lobster roll is super fresh and the portion is extremely generous, especially for $10. It's served Maine style (warm w/ butter) an comes with a side of hand cut fries and some of the best coleslaw I've ever had. Joe, the owner, is from Florida so he loves his seafood and makes sure to only serve the freshest lobster, clams and shrimp. Also he, along with the cook, Fred, are two awesome dudes. I'm a New Yorker and it's rare to find fresh and delicious seafood. This little place have done a wonderful job in achieving the flavors of fresh seafood. I ordered the lobster roll platter and the fried scallops platter to share with my boyfriend. The lobster roll was very tasty; lightly-buttered bread with fresh lobster. It didn't need other condiments to make it better. It also came with fries, cole slaw and a pickle. As for the fried scallops, it was very fresh and tasty. The tartar sauce is homemade! Only downfall is that we paid $13 for six pieces of small scallops with the sides. Joe, the owner, is extremely nice! He was making sure we enjoyed the food. Outrageous. Sitting directly in the sun w/2 kids and staff forbids us to use the shade umbrellas on tables b/c they are "$100" each. A lovely spot but the height of inconsiderate. See pic of $5 fries and $12.50 lobster roll (kids said tasty) but extremely skimpy on meat and both kids said there was some shell in their meal. This was really disappointing in that we've never had such an experience anywhere in the Deerfield Valley. My recommendation is to GO TO WAHOOS, fresh food, right on the creek and they welcome customers. read more

Lobster roll for ~$15 is their big draw, but it's too bad that it's a bad deal for the buyer. Expect to get one hotdog roll with a few scraps of lobster that don't go past the brim of the bun. My fiancé was still hungry after the lobster roll meal with French fries, coleslaw, and a pickle. Smallest lobster roll I've ever seen to be honest. Don't waste your money. I had the scallop roll which was good and overflowing in its hotdog bun, but the scallops certainly seemed to be double or triple battered. They were very thick. This place is also cash only. The older man working here seemed very fed up with us for some reason even though we had just met. Younger kids working here were very kind. Overall: overpriced. 2.5 stars read more

CASH ONLY. We are here every summer, we eat ice cream at the Creemee stand plenty of times, yet never tried Joe's next door. No good reason, just didn't, we usually eat at home and come to Creemee for ice cream. This evening, we gave Joe's a try. End of summer, very cool evening, so few people were there. I can imagine what it would be like on a hot summer day crowded with people. This evening it was calm and lovely. Really liked it. Spouse and I ordered the haddock sandwich special (with drink), and daughter ordered haddock platter (with extra fish and cole slaw). It took maybe 10-15 minutes for our orders to come. Sandwiches were really good, good size fish portion, fries were fine. Platter was too much for daughter to finish, so I did the honors. Cole slaw was tasty. Fish was lightly breaded and soft, not like the crispy, thicker crust that I often get as fish 'n chips places or Irish pubs. Bun was delicious. Eat at outdoor picnic tables with plenty of the right bottles (malt vinegar, ketchup, hot sauce). Good tartar sauce served alongside a lemon slice. Tasty dill pickle. As with almost every restaurant in the Wilmington area, this was good and tasty, but it doesn't have me craving more. I would definitely return. And yes, if I brought some beer along, it would definitely be a good scene. read more

Joe's Home Cookin' just opened up next door to the great Creemee Stand this past Memorial Day Weekend. My family and i stopped in and we tried the Lobster Rolls, they were very very good, fresh lobster, large chunks, good all around. For $10 you get a lobster roll, cole slaw and french fries, the best part, it's all homemade!!! I spoke with the owner "Joe" who was a friendly guy who came out to ask us how our food was. He also told us that he gets fresh lobsters himself, and that he makes the cole slaw and french fries himself, impressive for a small roadside stand. It was great to see someone who cares about his product, and his customers!!! They have tables and chairs with umbrellas and plenty of parking. Try it, trust me on this one! read more

I love the Lobster rolls here! However, the french fries are also not to be missed! The first time I ate here, I was surprised by the price for the lobster roll, fries and cole slaw and split an order with my daughter. The next time I shared with no one! The fries are homecut, boardwalk style fries. For $5 you can get a whole plateful. The lobster is fresh and cooked perfectly. Best little stand in Vermont! If I could give half a star I would. Just spent 29.50 for a cheeseburger, fries and a lobster roll with a water and iced tea. As if the price wasn't bad enough the lobster was on a hot dog bun that was not even half full and that's it - no side. The cheeseburger was tasty but the fries were literally inedible. They were a strange brown color and so soggy and undercooked. First time I ever threw out french fries. Total waste of time and money. read more

The other reviews really misled me. My husband and I both ordered a lobster roll plate. We are from Massachusetts and have had numerous lobster rolls across New England. There was literally TWO pieces of lobster in our lobster rolls. The taste was good but honestly we were so disappointed. As others said the fries are hand cut and very good. This place is a gem. Literally a gem. I came here pit stopping on the way home and I had THE BEST LOBSTER ROLE OF MY LIFE. MELTED IN MY MOUTH IT WAS SO NAUGHTY. I like being able to sit outside too and enjoy the sunshine. He gets his lobster from Canada which is totally awesome. And he fries are the bomb as well. Stopped by Joe's for the first time this past weekend. I heard about is from my parents who have a home in the area. All I can say is wow, Joe's has the best lobster rolls I have ever had. No mayo, none of the usual extra ingredients, they let the lobster speak for itself just adding a little bit of butter. Service was great and the cast of characters very friendly. After reading tons of great reviews here, we excitedly headed over to Joe's for lunch today, excited for a lobster roll fix during our little Vermont vacation. And we're somewhat shocked by how bad it was, in all ways. The woman taking our order was grim and bizarrely unfriendly to the point of extreme rudeness. But we honestly wouldn't have cared if the food was great. Folks, it was not great. It was not even good. The lobster rolls has barely any lobster in them. The fries were heavy, soggy, awful. Even my kids, ages 7 and 11, who'll eat pretty much any fry, said, "these are gross." The coleslaw was just...repulsive and weird (perhaps had gone bad?). The haddock sandwich was, again, oily, heavy, just terrible. My son--not a picky eater at all--literally couldn't eat it. We felt like we basically threw fifty dollars away, sometime we rarely feel!
