Robert's Roadhouse was a good find on our trip last weekend to West Dover for the Fall Festival. We went their on Saturday evening about 7:30 pm for dinner and we were seated right away. The decor is dated and not romantic, but it is a roadhouse, so it was fine. Our waiter was very pleasant and friendly. He served us promptly even though he had several tables. The menu wasn't fancy, but promised good food, and it was! My hubby had the NY strip steak special and it had a delicious smoky flavor. He enjoyed his dinner. I ordered the ribs because the description sounded good. They were mouthwateringly good and with the generous portions, I took a lot home too! For dessert, we got a tiramisu to go. Came in an hour before they closed. Very attentive and friendly staff. Love the complimentary bread and butter -- it tasted homemade. I got the Penne alla vodka, which tasted great. I've been coming to Vermont every summer for the last 8 years but this is my first time eating here! They require reservations, though I'm not sure if that's due to Covid or is a norm for them. There was some outdoor seating under a tent or lots of seating inside, either in the bar area or dining area. The staff was super attentive and quick with service. My family all had the prime rib special which they thoroughly enjoyed. I had the eggplant parmigiana which was delicious! It also came with a soup or salad option and I had a salad with the maple honey mustard dressing which was drool-worthy. We had a terrific dinner here last week! It was a spur-of-the-moment decision and they were able to accommodate us. The Owner, Robert, greeted us and told us to sit where we felt comfortable. We like the bar. The Bartender, Randall is new but felt like an old friend by the end of dinner. He is a very gracious, southern-polite host. The Chicken Picatta and the Salmon dinners were both very well prepared and presented. The sweet potatoes were worth a second helping! ( I didn't ask though!) I had the chance to dine at this place recently and loved it. I was so surprised to find such fine dinning out near a sky resort. My wife was especially happy to find vegetarian options. I loved the atmosphere and the staff were very welcoming. I was happy to hear that this restaurant had a new owner and the restaurant has a new name so I did not know why the old reviews were still up. So we were hungry after driving from Boston in memorial weekend traffic. Our intuition was to order take out to our Airbnb, but after hearing what the specials were over the phone, (venison medallions, soft shell crab,) we figured the food would be too good to waste on a take out experience. I was very surprised when I stepped in and I immediately regretted my decision to dine in. We are from Boston and used to paying 22-30 per main course routinely. The atmosphere was lack luster- more Cracker Barrel highway pit stop than - high end eatery. Lots of sea food options, which being from Boston we avoided, as we get that fresh all the time. We figured a steak house would have great hamburgers, and poutine. The hamburger (medium was requested) was Over cooked and well done. It was dry, small, and not juicy. The bun was small, hard and tasteless. I will give kudos for the tomato! For it being off season, it was tasty! Awful burger! Ok- the poutine. Granted we have lived in Montreal and have high standards. We were hungry- so we probably enjoyed it more than we should have. The curds were fully melted - suggesting the poutine was microwaved. Could have used more gravy. Service. What you would expect from a Cracker Barrel. I hate putting people under the bus, but since covid, you would assume that people dining out really want a great experience, and to try just a little. Nope. She was lack luster too. read more

Walking in, Roadhouse has all of the elements of a quaint Vermont gourmet restaurant. But as soon as you are seated, the faux facade quickly fades to oblivion as the establishment deteriorates into a bad middle school cafeteria. The bread was all stale. I ordered an old fashioned and got something resembling a shirley temple with well whiskey. The vegetable stir fry was little green giant cooked in Kikoman soy sauce. The clams casino was rolling the roulette wheel for food poisoning. The kids meal spaghetti and meatballs was noodles sautéed in ketchup. They did make a solid jack and coke. And the waitress was lovely despite forgetting to bring out half of our entrees. Really want to root for this quaint establishment but ultimately felt morally obligated to caution people...it was truly terrible read more

We wanted to support the new management as we loved the former Roadhouse for a special meal. But the meal began with one slice of burnt homemade bread for 2 to share, then literally cold, wilted salads we had to send back for fresh ones, the chef blamed the waitress for grabbing "the old ones," (fresh ones were great), followed by $36 steaks (had to ask for steak knives) mine was crispy black on outside (asked for medium rare) and when I politely asked the owner/chef he basically told me I was wrong and that it was "dark in the restaurant." My husband had to ask again for correct veg, for which owner blamed waitress, and she in turn threw him under the bus... Owner/chef sent 2 tiny meringues to the table at the end, the waitress saying they must have been "meant to apologize for fighting with you." Uncomfortable, unrelaxing, regrettable experience. Hope they take opportunity to reflect on portions, freshness, and communication... We still wish them success. read more

Came here on a holiday weekend expecting a wait, but to our pleasant surprise we were seated right away. We were kindly greeted by our server and knew we were off to a good start. I wanted so badly to like this place, as I saw good reviews so we gave it a try. But it really fell short. The meatballs appeared to be store bought with a jarred sauce. The ribs were tender but appeared to also have a store bought sauce poured over it. The chicken piccata was flavorless and did not have much sauce at all. The burger was ok, but overcooked. The New York strip was pretty good. The veggies appeared to be frozen and warmed up. I hope this restaurant makes some changes, but not sure we'll be back until they do. read more

Just had a great experience at Robert's Roadhouse. It was a very busy night but the entire staff was hustling their hardest to take care of everyone. My husband and I both picked dinners from the nightly specials. He had prime rib which was huge and delicious. I had scallops in a mornay sauce. The meals come with a choice of soup or salad, vegetable of the day and a starch; a real bargain. I especially enjoyed the caesar salad; nice shavings of parmesan cheese, tiny little crunchy, flavorful croutons. We were stuffed but made room to share warm apple crisp with ice cream, another hit! What a wonderful experience. We called from out of state to see if we could get soup and bread delivered to a sick family member. After calling several restaurants it was great to finally get someone to help us out. They got the soup delivered that night. Helpful caring business that cares about their community. This place was phenomenal. The food and service were all very good. However, I was annoyed we were charged for hot water, 3 bucks for 3 cups. Mind u this is a cold winter day. Why should I be charged for hot water?! Weird. I guess refills were free yay? Lol Anyways food was great. The steak was extra tasty, nicely roasted, very juicy and flavorful. Homemade bread was slightly sweet and tasted like heaven, so soft and melts in your melt, paired perfectly w the butter which was so fresh. Escargot was huge, the garlic sauce tasted amazing w the sourdough that came w the dish. Veggies were super fresh, cooked just right, still crunchy string beans, and just right carrots which weren't over or under cooked. The seafood was great, we had the shrimp scampi which was amazingly light yet very garlicky, it was clearly done w care and flavor in mind instead of mixing things in the last minute. Mussels had amazing broth, altho very sandy! Lastly, we got the fish w lobster on top which was good, but nothing too crazy tbh. The salad dressings are all home made. I wish I could bottle them up, they were very zesty! One of the dishes came w a free dessert, was phenomenal, best fresh cheesecake I had in a long time, light and not too heavy. Even the whipped cream was home made :) Overall great place, great food, but definitely should not charge for hot water especially in winter and since we ordered a ton of food. read more

At an event with at least 50 or 60 people here and the food was great. However, the bar was charging insane prices for some drinks, $17.50 for a glass of Chardonnay! Then, it was $45 for three cocktails. okay, whatever. Go back to get the same three cocktails and now it's $60!! Wow! But a beer is only $6? What's going on here? Large old-fashioned restaurant with fresh tasting food. The prices are a little bit all over the place with cheap appetizers and desserts, but a little more expensive meals. Considering each entree comes with bread and soup or salad (choice #1) or both soup, salad, bread AND dessert (choice #2 for a small up-charge) you're going to walk out very full. We sure did with plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. Each course was wonderful. My only complaint is our waitress forgot to give us our dessert, but we were so full that we didn't bother mentioning it. There was also not drink menu which would have been nice. They have an full bar though. Margarita was different, but good Restaurant lighting is a bit dark and interior could use a little antique decluttering, but that's all part of the restaurant's "personality" and won't deter us from coming back again read more

Everything looked great, atmosphere, bar, location, clean, friendly staff, warm bread to start meal was spot on but the food was absolutely SUB PAR. I usually don't complain but my ribs were gross, the burgers look microwaved, my companion had the chicken parm and it was dry and inedible, soup looked like canned soup, it's really too bad. I really hope they read this and totally revamp the kitchen staff and menu. I wouldn't go back and I wouldn't recommend. read more

The super friendly service deserves a five star rating. We came in for a late dinner, just as a large company holiday party was clearing out. I suspect that staff would have been going home, had we not stopped in, but our server gave us a big welcome and we certainly didn't feel rushed. I had the wurst and sauerkraut plate. Very tasty. Husband did the burger which was pretty good, but a little over done. Best fries ever! Son did the chicken parm, a huge portion. Bread was warm and made on pemises, slightly sweet in a nice way. No trip to Mount Snow is compete without a visit to The Roadhouse. We've eaten here many times over the past decade or so. This time our party of 15 had dinner on Friday night and they took a reservation which was nice (not all area restaurants do.) Our hostess Pam was lovely and friendly and handed us off to Paula, our server, who was incredibly efficient in single-handedly handling our entire group. The atmosphere is warm and cozy with lots of tchatchkies and antiques; it is a very comfortable and inviting place. Now the food. Their homemade bread is outstanding; you could make a meal out of this and the butter. We were delighted to find a Friday night special of a free plate of peel-and-eat shrimp with each entree. They brought it out for each of us and we went to town. It was a very nice touch! All entrees also come with soup and salad; dessert is an extra $3.95. One of that night's soup selections - the butternut squash and apple soup - was the lowlight of the meal. It was, truth be told, really awful. With 15 of us, we had a good representative sampling of their entrees, most of which were excellent (one did not like their lamb dish - too bland, and one did not fully enjoy their stuffed trout - the skin was left on and the presentation was lacking.) The chicken Celtic is slightly sweet, but very hearty and satisfying. Several loved the steak, scallops and salmon dishes. Overall, The Roadhouse is a terrific and cozy place, a delightful dining experience and a reasonable value. (The bar area is also warm and inviting. They had a guitarist playing while we were there and it was very pleasant.) We will continue to be back to one of our favorite Wilmington spots. read more

Food was good, our table had the burger, the ribs, the steak and the eggplant parm. There is a $10/split plate charge for all meals. Side salads came with the main meals (not the burger and the up charge to switch sides wasn't worth it). You have two choices of their house dressings, nothing else. When ordering the burger we were told the chef would not cook the meat any other way than medium, slightly off putting. *the chef doesn't like to make ANY substitutions. Prices were ok, pretty average (or slightly above average) for the resort area. The service was not great. When our waitress brought the bill at the end of the meal she refused to split the check for our table of four into two, saying that they didn't do that there (no where is this noted on the menu or in the restaurant, at least not easily in sight). She argued with my father in law for several minutes over it then she said she could charge two different cards if we just told her the amount ‍‍ My husband did all the math to split the bill for us & them, she then can back with a calculator and told him his math was wrong. After they reworked the bill again, and he clarified which card to charge for which amount she did it backwards. IMO, a good server would have told us she couldn't bring us two checks but could take care of splitting it for us. I can totally get behind not wanting to switch things for large parties but we are talking about 4 meals here. Overall, I would not eat here again - hospitality goes a long way in my book. read more

The food was excellent. We both ordered the steak special. The steak was tasty, tender and cooked to perfection and the side salad and fries were delicious. My only concern was the fact that the steak special was advertised for $14.95 on their web site and on a flyer at our hotel. The price on the menu was $16.95. The hostess said the web site and flyer were outdated. Also I ordered a glass of Blackstone merlot wine. This wine retails for $8.00 a bottle. The charge for a glass was $12.00. I guess that where they make the profit but I felt that was a little outrageous. But overall we had a very good meal. read more

just left this restaurant and was truly disappointed , the filet was tough the prime rib was huge but that is all it had going for it. The vegetables were cooked well but were like they were just an after thought and to find the "special" was $45.,what would the cost have been regularly, nothing was in the least bit remarkable. The wait staff was very nice tho my order was not correct (ordered rice got potato). Anyway at the end was not asked about dessert and when we got bill saw a charge for cc, after getting home and seeing what cc is we found out we were charged the fee for using a credit card, CC=credit card!!! Are you kidding me--this restaurant is having me charged for using my credit card!!!!! Not only are they not a remarkable restaurant they want to charge top prices for mediocre food then charge me for using my credit card. Needless will not be going back and certainly not recommending them, and I am a local and during slow season here you need locals. read more

Have tried most of the Mount Snow dining and this was pretty solid. The daily special was varied and surprisingly fancy. There was lamb chops, venison and haddock, all done very well. But that prime rib was scrumptious. We asked for rare and it was juicy, meaty and so tender. Service was straight up, efficient and friendly. Pricing was more than reasonable. First time in year. Hasn't changed a bit, nor has the menu. Good old-fashioned service with New England food like lobsters, steak, pot roast. Full bar. Someone near me complained that her martini "left out something" so it was exchanged. Had a blueberry crumble in light of current harvest. If you're hungry after a long day of skiing or biking at nearby Mount Snow, stop by the Road House for a hearty, filling and affordable meal. There are many entrees from which you can choose--seafood, steak, schnitzel (my favorite), eggplant parm (also delicious), and poultry. Each entree comes with soup, salad, mouth-watering homemade bread, and dessert. Road House is often crowded, so you might have to sit in the bar for a little while. Copper Ale is on tap; the martinis are dry and overflowing; the cosmopolitans are sweet and tasty (so says my wife). After a long day of skiing, you might prefer a scotch or a nice glass of Chianti. The bartenders mostly work at the mountain--ask for Ringo--and (if you ask) they'll give you interesting information about conditions, local politics, etc. While you might be tempted to order an appetizer for yourself--the venison sausages are a carnivore's delight--it's best to share one or two apps for a party of four, five or six people... This way you're not full before the rest of the food is paraded out in good timing. Also, as much as you'll be tempted to do so, don't fill up on the bread. Wednesday nights are especially affordable, with a special that includes a bottle of wine (from a limited selection) and an entree (with all the other good stuff described above) for less than $30 for TWO PEOPLE. That's right folks, you read that correctly. By the time you get to dessert you might be full, and that's ok. Dessert is not the best part of the Road House experience. Your best bet is to top off your tummy with the apple crumble: It's better than the indifferent carrot cake and the dry chocolate cake. read more

Update your hours please. You close before 10:00PM on Saturday. There is certainly a market for anyone who serves food, even a limited menu, beyond 9:00PM on a weekend night in any town. Finances are hard on everyone now, but you certainly make more than enough during ski seasons to afford such an option. read more

The bartender was really cool - and made a HEFTY Old Fashioned for us... we didn't try the food, but the place was packed and seemed like a great neighborhood favorite. Monday night in the off season. Had appetizers. Poutine and Sausage plate and garden salad. Homemade dressings for salad were nicely done. Salad was fresh and delicious. Then came the poutine. A mountain of fries covered in cheese and gravy. The Sausage plate was good and the homemade sauer kraut had really good flavor. Oh yeah and more crispy steak fries. A lot more. . . More food than two people could hope to eat. Friendly waitstaff, decor was interesting with enough space between tables to have privacy.
