A coworker and I went for lunch on Friday. It wasn't busy. We were greeted immediately and told to choose a table. We both ordered the chicken green chile soup. Outstanding! The bread that came with it was a little hard but good. $10 for 5 smallish mozzarella sticks is a little pricey. They were overcooked but tasted okay. My friend ordered a side salad. She wanted ranch dressing. It came with a very small portion in a plastic container. Our server Tara rarely checked on us because she would have beebln asked for more dressing. Tara didn't clear dirty dishes the few times she came to our table. She didn't refill my water either. We had to ask for our check. It was difficult for me to tip 20% but I did anyway. The soup was the best thing about the visit. And the company. When I asked Tara for some to go containers she gave me two round plastic containers. Perfect for my soup but odd for my cheesticks/marinersla sauce. I had to ask for something to put the marinera sauce in. With training I'm sure Tara will be a great server. Excellent! This was my second time dinning at Pizzeria Luca, but my first time having their lunch specials! They were so affordable and extremely delicious. I really loved their arugula salad- I've been craving it since I had it last! Their caprese salad was super light, no bread came with it which was a bit sad but also exactly what I needed for a light lunch! Their pizza is thin and delicious, and I really enjoyed the flavor of their Brussels sprouts. We sat at the bar on a packed Sunday and the bartender was super attentive and the food came out quickly. My first time trying this place. Visited on a Friday midday, it was a little after the lunch rush. Walked into the restaurant and greeted by friendly staff. We sat towards the back of the restaurant. The restaurant was decorated with many different pieces of artwork. It wasn't too crowded at the time so the noise level was low. We decided to order the Chicken Parmesan sandwich with a salad. The salad was great, I loved the balsamic vinaigrette. The Chicken sandwich was fairly large for a lunch portion. I couldn't finish it and ended up taking it home. 4.5 stars Came here last night (on a weekday night) and it was packed! Lots of birthday celebrations and after work happy hour get togethers (they have a good happy hour menu until 6), so our wait was about half hour. The calamari appetizer was delicious and couldn't decide which sauce we liked more- the spicy marinara or the artichoke pesto. It's a small place and it was a little loud and warmer closer to the kitchen. My friend got the pesto pasta with chicken and I got the Italian burger (that's supposed to be like a giant meatball and had goat cheese on top and a side of sweet potato fries). I got the burger based on several good reviews I had seen in the foodies group. The burger itself was a good size, but the side of marinara and garlic definitely made the burger stand out a bit more. We didn't get dessert and I did get a little bit of heartburn from one of the sauces, but I'd say it lived up to the reviews. Everyone has an off day. I've been to Luca before and have had a good meal and good service. This was not one of those visits. Following a long day of travel, I decided to Order two pizzas and a salad from pizzeria Luca thinking it would be an easy task. Ordering went well, I showed up a half hour later as asked. The hostess, also MVP, let me know that they were having some issues with their pizza maker. The order was about a half hour late and pretty expensive, just south of $70 for two 14 inch pizzas and a wedge salad. Unfortunately, the pizza was definitely not worth the wait. read more

Craving Italian food nearby so decided to order takeout on a Sunday afternoon. Called, and was put on hold while the host took care of a customer. I continued to stay on hold, while browsing the menu online. Then I started to order online. Finally, I placed my order online and the host never completed my call after 20 minutes. Upon arriving, it was really quiet. The host was very nice and friendly. Surprisingly, they had my order ready and it was fast. The food was ok, but not something I'd rave about. well we came here for pizza, which was very good as usual. however we decided to order a side wedge salad. we told our waitress we would share it. it came divided up and was very tasty. we were shocked when the bill came and they charged us $2 extra for dividing the salad. we complained about this and they removed the charge. We were heading back from our sunset tram ride ( which was awesome) and I knew that heading back into town would make for a long wait for dinner. I read Pizzeria Luca reviews and thought they were good. To my dismay, I had the Chicken Parmesan hero /sandwich with french fries. The bread was very hard and not easy to chew. The Chicken was hard too. No flavor , and over cooked . They put the marinara sauce on the side. I use it to dip my fries in it. My biggest mistake was not to give my meal back. Later in the evening I had stomach pains and indigestion all night long. This one meal has set me back for a whole week. I'm finally geting back to feeling myself. I don't like to give negative reviews because it's not good for this establishment but when I felt the way I did , I had to voice my thoughts. For anyone who thinks there food is not right , give it back . You and I pay good money for the food we eat. On a positive note the rest of my group did like what they had to eat. July 16, 2023. Sunday. Dinner. We visited here on our date night and I was hungry. For pizza. Edgar, our waiter, visited our table regularly and refilled our waters about four times. It happened to still be happy hour. The bar had every seat filled. I ordered the 14" Luca pizza ($20) with anchovies ($2), which was four pizzas in one. This pizza had 8 slices: 2 of pesto pizza (pesto sauce with buffalo mozzarella, sun dried tomatoes and pinon), 2 of margherita (fresh basil, mozzarella, marinara, and evoo), 2 of calabria (prosciutto, onions, fontina truffle oil, and marinara) and 2 of modena (italian sausage, pepperoni, cremini mushrooms, roasted garlic, and house made marinara). My favorite, by far, was the Calabria, with that lovely truffle oil and spicy prosciutto. I wish I had ordered an entire Calabria pizza. The cheese wasn't the best, and I wish they used a wood oven so the crust could be charred. The crust tasted flat and uninspired. I did like the meats and other toppings, besides the cheese. Edgar told us they would be added more dishes to the menu soon. He said Luca has been around for 12 years. It is a nice, small, cozy Italian restaurant. We paid a total of $38.80 for two nice dishes. Visit here hungry and you will leave happy. read more

I was a regular at this place when I lived in the area. Unfortunately, I was in Albuquerque yesterday, so I went back to a great old regular spot. The service here has always been great and yesterday was no exception. The food is always so delicious and comes out without delay. I really love their red sauce. It is so good. I ordered a calzone, which was my usual order. I decided to try a new whiskey since I noticed one I have not tried. I have had other Rabbit Hole whiskeys and they have all been good. One this occasion I had their 4 grain. It was along the lines of a rye whiskey with that dry bite that I love. There is indoor, patio, and bar seating. I usually sat on the patio, but decided to sit at the bar on this visit. It was definitely good to see this place is still as great as it's always been. We love Lucas. We go frequently. Since I found the chicken pesto alla giovanese I've been in love with the sauce, the pine nuts and sun dried tomatoes. My husband loves the steak sandwich with horse radish and all the grilled peppers. He loves the green chili Alfredo also. Service is always amazing!! Waiter walked right past our party of 3 to ask the 2 ladies who sat down 20 minutes after us if they wanted to order drinks. Date day for the letter P was pizzeria Luca. Glad we went early to eat at this restaurant. By 4pm there was now a wait. We had an extra member to our party this week, my youngest grandson, who is staying with us this weekend. We started out with the toasted ravioli which came out hot and crispy. It was seasoned well and tasted amazing. It was two thumbs up from my grandson. I ordered the eggplant Parmesan. The only thing personally I would have liked is a little more marinara but that is how I like mine. Other than that the flavors were amazing. My husband got the chile chicken Alfredo lasagna. The chile was not spicy but gave the dish a great flavor. The vegetables on the side were firm and not mushy which was great because I always hated mushy ones. This place is above average for Albuquerque Italian restaurants but it is not the best I have ever had, even in Albuquerque. I recently ordered the linguine with little neck clams (red sauce). The dish was tasty with a generous amount of clams. My only complaint is that the sauce was a bit watery, almost like soup. I realize that we are far from the coast but having a few whole clams in the shell would have been a nice touch. I admit to never having tried the pizza here, which I know is their specialty. Service was speedy and the server was friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is cozy. The only thing that bothered me, being of Italian descent myself, was the posters of movies portraying Italians in a less than favorable light. With so few decent Italian restaurants in Albuquerque, I would recommend giving this place a try. read more

The restaurant is nice enough, but the food - specifically, the pizza - was *not* good. The pizza honestly tasted like it was a reheated frozen pizza. The crust was flavorless and doughy....almost like Wonderbread?! The toppings were sparce and uneven.....and the "marinara" red sauce may as well have been out of a generic jar of "pizza sauce". My wife had a salad that was okay, but looked like there just wasn't much too it....she had to ask for some extra feta just to give it some flavor, as the dressing was pretty flavorless, as well. This was our 2nd time at this restaurant, but very likely, it will also be our last.....Albuquerque has much better pizza elsewhere.... read more

Today we visited Pizzeria Luca on Holly Ave in ABQ. It was absolutely delicious. My friend ordered the Lasagna Alfredo, which I tasted and was delightful. My mom and I shared a Chicken Parmesan plate. It was just enough food for two people with one order. We also ordered a Kale Salad with lemon vinaigrette that we shared. Everything was delish!! This was a great find today. We were able to sit out on the patio. Indoor: there's a large bar area (football) and spacious seating area. We will return! read more

I WILL NOT BE BACK!! My friend and I dine here quite often for dinner and for happy hour and have always had a great experience. UNFORTUNATELY tonight that was not the case. One of the servers that has served us quite often said hello and acknowledged us as frequent patrons. Unfortunately she was not our server tonight. We had a young server named Abby who seemed put off and very quick to try to rush us out of the restaurant. She was pleasant at first but quickly seemed like she really could care less about our service. She brought us our check and my friend was still eating and came back and asked us if it was ready which it was not. Once we paid our bill it was obvious she wanted us out. HERE'S MY MAIN ISSUE...When she had decided we were there longer than she wanted, she had the manager come and tell us to leave because they have a two hour waitlist policy. This is a fairly new policy that we were unaware of but there was literally NO ONE WAITING to be seated and there were several open tables available for other diners. We were there maybe 8-10 mins after this "new policy" time frame. I have no problem with this policy and had there not been open tables and there were people waiting we would have quickly left as we have always done. There wasn't a single person waiting for a table and as I mentioned there were still open tables available. This was handled POORLY by our server and when I went back in to speak to the manager he told me that she told him we had cashed out and were sitting there way past their "policy" which was NOT the case. I am extremely unhappy with the way we were treated and will not be giving my money to this establishment again. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!! read more

This place makes the best eggplant parmigiana in Albuquerque. I had it with fettuccine and marinara sauce. Thankfully they got their act a bit better together with their service. It was better tonight, although room for improvement. It was a crowded Thursday night. My daughter had a filet mignon with fresh veggies. She added some A1 sauce. We started with a mixed green house salad with ranch and a caprese salad with reduced balsamic dressing. We got a bacon wrapped shrimp to go for my husband. He loved it. The iced tea was good. Unfortunately our waiter never came by to refill our glasses, as he was stretched thin. He had forgotten to put in the to go shrimp order and we had to wait an extra 20 minutes for the kitchen to prepare. Richard, the manager was trying to pick up the slack. This restaurant is officially 2 minutes from our house, so we've been here maybe a dozen times. It's a solid choice. Never first on the list so that says something. Good food, but a little pricey and good service, but a little brusque. That's Pizzeria Luca in a nutshell. My son usually gets the pasta marinara and we either split a pizza Modena (pepperoni, sausage and mushroom) or get the Chicken Parmesan (him) and Chicken Genovese (me). Again, good food. Nothing worth raving about and at $20/plate I kind of feel like I should feel like raving. Or at least feeling really good about. It does the job. It's a smaller space and is usually full, so maybe we are the outliers. I just can't get thrilled about it. But we will still probably be back. read more

After my infusion I was curious to try this place. The other day at work I was looking for a new place to try and this one popped up. When I saw the reviews, I knew I had to try it! I love a good pie! Walking in I was immediately greeted by the host. Luckily the time I'd gone it was too busy so I was seated immediately. I noticed they had a nice bar towards the front. Sadly these days I can't partake so I better I sit away from it so I don't get tempted. As they say out of site, out of mind! I ordered the Toasted Raviolis and the Modena pizza. Of course I added some extra cheese on that pie. I love a good pie with a good amount of cheese. Let me tell ya these guys weren't stingy on the cheese either. It came out perfect. I savored every bite! The raviolis were amazing too! The marinara sauce they used for them was quite tasty combined with the ravioli it was a match made in heaven. Overall I really enjoyed this place. The staff was very friendly. My server was on the ball she kept checking up on me making sure my glass was full my entire stay and that I was the food satisfactory. The prices were pretty fair too.
