My search is over!!!!! As a previous New Yorker (still am at heart ) now living in Michigan, living without the deliciousness that is true New York pizza was something I never got over. But now that is a thing of the past! For anyone who's ever had and enjoys New York pizza, you'll know this is the real deal. And unlike Joe's in New York, this one here in A2 does accept debit/credit cards (last time I went to the Joe's Pizza in East Village it was still cash only), so that was another win! I could sit here and describe the amazing crunch of the slightly charred, thin crust, or the delicate balance that exists between the tomato sauce and cheese that adorns that amazing slice of Joe's pizza , but wouldn't you rather find out for yourself? Go for it, you won't regret it! NOTE: Because they're constantly cranking out pizza pies, be cognizant of the fact that if you're just getting a slice or two -- depending on the time of day -- your slice may have been sitting for a while. This is ok and will not take away from the quality as they typically reheat it in the oven before serving it. BUT if they happen to forget (as they're imperfect human beings like the rest of us), just ask them to throw it in the oven. read more

I LOVE Joe's! I'm no pizza connoisseur, so I can't speak for its quality compared to real New York pizza, but I can never walk by without stopping in to grab a slice! I always get the cheese ($3 for a hefty slice), but all of their flavors look super good! Sometimes the line is longer than others, but I've never had to wait for than five minutes- the employees help the line move CRAZY fast. I'd recommend trying it at least once, you won't regret it! read more

It's a little hole in the wall with not a ton of seating, but you will never regret ordering a slice from here. The slices are huge too. Finally a good pizza place on south u!! They make fresh pies at order, and have new ones come out for single slices every 5 minutes it seems like. 10/10 would recommend LOL. The Sicilian and Caprese are my 2 favorites so far, but they have cheese, fresh mozzarella, supreme, white, and a variety for single toppings that rotate. read more

How disappointing! After reading all the amazing reviews, I was so anticipating a memorable NY "pie." We got a Sicilian and an "original." First the crust on the Sicilian was totally burned, like couldn't eat it burned. The sausage is some kind of odd shaved "meat" and canned mushrooms? Gross. Hype. All hype. Yes, the crust is essential for providing a firm yet foldable bed for the sauce and cheese, and, yes, getting the right amount of cheese is imperative, but what distinguishes the good from great pizza is the sauce. If you're just cracking open a can of Prego you can sit down, cross your legs, and hide your face. Shame on you. No, Joe's understands the central role of sauce and does not fall short. The pizza is always very good. I like how thin and crispy it is. The line to get inside however is usually pretty long which is annoying occasionally. Once you get inside, the service is very fast. I like looking at all the pictures on the wall inside. It is usually pretty packed but there are usually a few places to sit and eat. read more

If you haven't tried the world famous New York style Italian pizza, you have to try! And you are so lucky to have this location at Ann Arbor which is the only one location outside of New York in US. Joe's Pizza is the place celebrities love - you can see the celebrity photo wall! It is also in a lot of TV shows, even included in some big fashion media. Of course it is delicious, my favorite pies are caprese and white with spinach. I have to say I am so lucky Joe's Pizza has me did a lot of illustrations for them, which are the illustrations above the celebrity photo wall. Also I came here and did the mural! Yes, it is the mural you see in the hall way! It is a storyline of Joe's Pizza from the first location to this newest location in Michigan. I'm sure you love their pizza as well as their lovely New York + Italian culture. I lived in NYC for 5 years, and I can tell you everyone in New York knows Joe's Pizza, it is the name-card for authentic thin crust New York pizza. I honestly still can't believe that Joe's opened up in Ann Arbor out of all places!! I was so excited to try it here, and it's delicious! The slices are really big, but since it's thin pizza, I normally get 2 slices for a meal. I think my favorite is definitely the fresh mozzarella, which is $4! It's a little sweeter than the regular cheese. My go-to is still the plain cheese because it's the cheapest at $3 and it's still really good! The white pizza was alright, but the spinach was an extra $1 or $1.25 or something along those lines. I probably wouldn't get it again. The supreme was decent, but I also probably wouldn't get it again. I think the fresh mozz and the cheese are the most worth it! The prices on the menu include tax which is great. I believe you need to spend at least $5 to use a card, so much sure to bring cash if you're planning on just getting one slice! They aren't open early, but they are open pretty late; sometimes until 3 AM! I definitely recommend stopping by and waiting in line if you have to; it's worth it :) read more

I've been to Joe's Pizza in nyc once and have been dying to go back since. Needless to say, I was ecstatic when I learned that one would be opening in Ann Arbor, of all places. When I finally got to try it this past week, their pizza did not fall short of my high expectations. It still had the thin, super crispy crust to make the perfect slice of pizza. No oil dripping, just the perfect amount to keep the cheese melty. As for any difference from the original, I will say that this crust got soft faster, but it's so minor that it's barely noticeable. Only reason I docked this place one star is for the same reason I docked one for the original establishment - $3 for a single slice of plain cheese pizza that's cut from a pie and reheated (as opposed to a small personal pizza for example) is just way too much, especially considering that this is ann arbor and not nyc. Nevertheless, will definitely be coming back! read more

Joe's has by FAR the best pizza in Ann Arbor. Yes it is a little pricey but it is 100% worth it! My favorite is the pepperoni with green peppers. The pizza sauce at Joe's is so incredibly flavorful with every bite! read more

I ordered two pizzas, a cheese and pepperoni. The value of the pizzas were great, with a lot of pizza for the price. Both were delicious; the cheese pizza has the right mix of crust, cheese, and sauce. The sauce was slightly sweet and well balanced, and there wasn't too much cheese on the pizza -- it wasn't greasy at all. I also ordered a small salad. Even the small salad was large! There was a ton of lettuce and vegetables included, which could easily be split between 4 people. The dressing for the salad was pretty good. Overall, this place offers great pizza at a great price point. It comes out quickly, too. read more

Joe's gets the hype from drunk party-goers and night owl insomniacs whose track of time standing in line for an insurmountable amount of time all for a slice of pizza. I cannot attest for this college town obsession. At best, Joe's is mid - subpar, even! While one slice may seem large according to surface area, the thinness of the base and near-absence of sauce negates this dimension. For $3.25, you can receive a lukewarm slice of cheese pizza with an absurd amount of oil pooling in each crevice. The cheese lays as a singular chunk - not as strings - and flattens to the pizza with a press of a finger. The base, cheese, and sauce layers are incredibly thin, while the crust is hard, hollow, and flavorless. I would not voluntarily buy Joe's pizza again. read more

Very good New York style pizza and delicious. The crust is amazing like the pizza you can get from New York City without the drive or the millions of people there, but like New York the parking is difficult. You will need to park down the street and walk to it. read more

I'm obsessed. I've always wanted to go to NYC and get pizza there- thin crust is my favorite- and I just know even without having been there yet that this stuff is the real deal. It's honestly the perfect slice of pizza. It's floppy yet somehow still a little bit crispy, with the perfect ratio of sauce and cheese, and that delicious hint of charred flavor. They allllmost cook it all the way when they put the pizzas in the window, so then when you order, the pop your slices back in the oven for a bit to finish cooking them and serve them to you nice and hot. I've been here twice this week now, and I plan on returning many more times this summer! read more

Delicious! We bought 2 slices of regular cheese and 2 of fresh mozzarella cheese. The dough was great! It had a nice texture and a great flavor. The cheese was delicious and the sauce was mildly sweet and generously portioned. I can't wait to return. The man behind the counter said they were hoping to start up delivery soon! I'm so excited to order again! People behind the counter were friendly and super efficient in getting our slices and ringing us up. Oh and the slices were huge. I am a bit of a pizza snob and have tried just about every good pizza joint from here to Naples and I can confidently say Joe's Ann Arbor is among if not the best I have eaten... I have not eaten at the village Joes in a couple years but from my memory not much was lost in translation and the Zingermans Mozz take an iconic pizza and makes it BETTER. read more

I ordered a Sicilian-style pizza recently and was pretty disappointed. The crust is WAY, wayyy too thick and dense, while the toppings were barely cooked. It was really flavorless, and nevertheless cost $40, which is absolutely insane; that's the average cost of a sit-down meal with drinks, not a takeout pizza! We ate 1 slice each and the rest has just sat in the fridge because it's just unappetizing. Also, this isn't the fault of Joe's and my rating isn't reflective of this, but FYI for takeout - it's located right on campus and South U which is currently closed off to car traffic for construction, so you cannot park close to run in - you have to park at least a couple blocks away and then walk. read more

My favorite pizza ever!! centrally located at the university of michigan, you can find students there all the time!! the freshmozz is amazing and its always comes out so fast, no matter how long the line is. I went there once recently and a customer came in without a mask on. the employees immediately asked him to leave. they are very diligent as to their covid precautions. highly recommend!!! read more
