I am a lover of pizza. We were hungry so I decided to order three regular slices from Joe's pizza. While the taste of the pizza was good, we weren't pleased with the taste of the crust and bottom of the pizza. It was too dark for our liking and it tasted burnt. Maybe it was kept in the oven a little longer than it should have been. My first visit here wasn't good. However, I love the atmosphere and the energy here. Everyone likes their pizza a certain way and Joe's is just perfect for me. Thin crust, but sturdy. Not too light on the cheese, but not too much. Toppings were just perfect and not overloaded. I only had the opportunity to try one pizza place on our trip, but I have to say I made the perfect choice. Joe's did not disappoint. Three pizzas cost us about $15 and we were full till dinner. Service was fast, even though there were lots waiting for their order. There's only standing room to eat but really. you don't need to sit. Was in the area around lunch time and decided to get pizza to curb my hunger. Always heard of Joe's Pizza as I work by one in the city but just never had the chance to try it. We got a cheese slice and a mozzarella slice to try and they were both pretty good. The cheese slice was nice and hot and just came out of the oven while the mozzarella slice needed to be heated. Cheese slice has a good tang to the sauce that was used and cheese pull anyone? The cheese was stringy and so delicious. I got a pretty decent size slice as well so no complaints. We ordered the pizza to be delivered to our hotel in Brooklyn, and it was delivered as if it had been dropped -- the cheese was clumped and off the top of the pizza, didn't fit into the box, tasted terrible and gross. Whenever I ask anyone about food places in New York, they always put Joe's pizza on their list. It's definitely good, but not the best pizza I've had. I partly think the fanfare is about the heritage, hype, and the price. I can see myself coming here more often if I were to move here. We got the spinach pizza and the supreme. Both were really good. I would go with the supreme next time because of the meat and onions. Price: each of the slice was $4. But for a HUGE slice. 2 were enough for me. How have I not yet reviewed Joe's? That New York stalwart, refuge for the drunk, hungry, and weary, yearning for carbs and grease in the godforsaken wee hours of the morning? What more is there to write that hasn't already been written? I wouldn't call Joe's the best pizza in town, but it's very good, and it's reliably good. This is textbook NY pizza- thin crispy crust, solid undercarriage, structural integrity, balanced sauce, the right amount of cheese and grease. And they're open late, with several locations across the city that are fairly consistent in quality. You really can't go wrong. The plain slice is great, the pep is solid. If you're feeling hungrier, I like their combo too when it's available. Before you know it, you're 6 slices in and you realize that you should have just ordered a whole pizza. Good NY pizza with customers constantly flooding the shop. We stopped here for a quick bite and weren't disappointed. They have several options and are quick with their service despite the crowds. I tried the cheese and the fresh mozzarella which were both good. The fresh mozzarella could've used some more seasoning on it, but they had oregano, parmesan, salt, and red pepper flakes that you could add after the fact. They also offer Sicilian slices if you're into that. Slices ranged from $2.75-$3.50. They're mainly cash, but they take card for purchases over $6. Overall it was good pizza, but nothing really set it apart from the hundreds of pizza shops around. I got a slice of mushroom/spinach and daaaaang that thin crust was so thin and a perfectly foldable slice, I could easily eat half of a pizza from Joe's. This place was just about what I expected based on other New York pizza joints I've been to. No frills, just vibes. The pizza gets 5 stars for taste and texture, but I guess it would have been nice if there was a little more variety in flavors. When I came here at least, there were only about 4 or 5 options and they were all pretty standard. Nothing too adventurous with the toppings. It was about $5 for a decently sized slice, so not expensive but not cheap. It really hits the spot for when you're starving or really craving a good New York slice, but the more generic $1 slice places could probably just as easily do the same.
