Forget the City grab the cannolis! So let's put a little history of this place. The original owner was there for a very long time and retired and sold the business off. It's an authentic recipe in another company bought it and built a pizza place up the road. Maybe 2 to 3 restaurants down. The owner got restless in retirement and didn't really like the way he left so he created Juliana's (his daughter's name) . I'm gonna tell you this. It's one of the best pizzas I've had in a very long time in New York City. It's actually in Brooklyn over in Dumbo. The service was above cloud bar! A super small place maybe 12 to 15 tables, but they are always packed and I happen to go there on a day that we were able to get in there right away. Now for the pizza. It's cooked on a coal stove right in the back and you can watch it being cooked. It cooks faster because of the heat and it comes out with such an amazing taste! light amount of cheese, tomatoes that come from Italy topped with a few leaves of basil All hand tossed. It reminds me of my uncle when he used to toss pizza in the house. Now - the cannoli was off the charts awesome! For sure this is a punch to the happy glands with every bite you take. Perfectly refrigerated cream that's prepared to order. I say that because they keep the cream chilled and the cookies on deck and when someone orders it, they fill the cookie with the cream right then in there. So we get perfect temperature and perfect crisp cookie. Even as we left the place, they asked if we had enough water in our jugs to go back uptown. Decent sauce, nice toppings, but what's up with the soggy crust? Being wanting to visit this famous pizza spot for the last few years. Came here in the past and always a line out the door so didn't bother. Finally had a chance to try yesterday for late lunch with a friend when there were many empty tables inside, so no line and no waiting. We ordered a medium Margarita based pizza with pepperoni & roasted peppers toppings. We were really surprisd the pizza came out in less than 5 minutes after waiter served us our drink order. Upon biting into it, right away what popped up in my head is 'why is the pizza crust so soggy?' Maybe the knife & fork on the table should've been a dead give away. One saving Grace is the sauce does have a sweetness to it, not tangy like some other famous shop in the Village. And also the 2 toppings were tasty enough to save this dining experice. Before leaving the restaurant, asked our waiter about the crust, he said since restaurant wasn't busy, the kitchen had already pre-made the pizzas, so it was just a matter of heating it and bring it out, hence the fast service. Pro-tip: next time (a big if for this reviewer), one must ask the crust be 'well-done,' in order to get its texture to the desired degree of cripiness that one should expect from what should have been an iconic pizza place in NYC. read more

We were one of the first customers seated, and right away we noticed how clean and welcoming the environment felt. The atmosphere was comfortable and inviting, which made the experience even better. Our server, Yakima (I hope I'm spelling that correctly!), was such a sweetheart. She was attentive, patient, and incredibly helpful while we tried to decide what to order. We weren't sure which pizzas to choose, and she suggested getting two small pizzas and doing them half-and-half -- which was the perfect idea. One of them was half white and half traditional sauce with pepperoni and prosciutto. You could truly taste the freshness in every bite. It was a very cold day in Brooklyn and it was so cozy, relaxed and no rush or wait at all inside Juliana's. It was perfect. I always get a large white with garlic with meatballs at Grimaldis and so I definitely had to take advantage of it here. Once I saw the flat pepperoni like meatballs, I knew the pizza would be a delicacy. It was the best meal I had my entire trip to NY. Rare time my fellow Yelpers let me down with 5 star reviews as this pizza simply was not worth the $30+ dollars for a medium with 2 toppings. The crust is so thin and cracker-like I thought it was Gluten Free. Real NY pizza crust should have that nice chew. So we rolled up on this place after walking the Brooklyn bridge in the evening on a Friday around 8pmish in September. We were 9 and they accommodated us on two tables side by side. This restaurant is small so seating a party of 9 was a big win! The service welcoming and efficient and overall "top shelf" - 5 stars. it's a cozy restaurant, the ambience and vibes were perfect - 5 stars. The beer selection was on point, I had a local IPA (I think Stonewall) and it hit the spot after the long day of walking NYC that day. Needed a bite that was kid friendly, Juliana's did not disappoint. We walked over from Time Out Market, immediately got a table inside for 5. The server was quick and could tell it was our first time. He made some recommendations and was back in no time at all. The inside was cute and you could tell it gets packed by a certain time, we were early around 5pm then the rush came. I like that you can see the team preparing the dough, they looked happy to be there making magic happen. Pizza was out fairly quickly and had the most perfect thin crust. My kids loved it and for a pie to be considered good by the entire crew is no small feat. We weren't able to finish but the leftovers made for a perfect reheat when we made it back to our hotel. I wish we hadn't eaten so much ice cream prior to dinner so we could've tried a dessert. The pizza is well made, but options are very limited and prices are super high. There are only 4 options that you can customize (one doesn't have cheese- the one with "normal" pizza sauce- so you pay $5 extra if you want that- otherwise you can get margherita pizza or white sauce as your other options). I got two large pizzas (a white pizza & a Margherita) to go here and it cost almost $70. The pizza itself was OK. I personally prefer Grimaldi's. I learned that they do not have any current affiliation with Grimaldi's. The service also is OK. I went in multiple times to check if the pizza was ready and they did seem annoyed, but they were very busy as well. They are known for their Margherita pizza, but they only sell whole pies and not slices. They do not have gluten-free or vegan pizzas either. They are open daily from 11:30 AM to 3:15 PM and again from 4 PM to 9 PM. They have this break to stoke their coal-fired pizza oven apparently. In terms of the ambiance, they are very busy and have plenty of seating. Parking is very limited though. They also do not take reservations so make sure your entire party is present in order to be seated. read more

Having lived in NJ for a long time and after prior travels to Italy, I wasn't sure that I was going to be that impressed by pizza in DUMBO. Oh boy was I wrong! The pizza is the perfect NY slice. It leans a little Italian, but it is still a classic NY slice. Thin crust, great sauce, plenty of cheese. The line outside is proof that the pizza is good. The hostess however was able to seat my party of 5 pretty quickly, and we ordered and received our food quickly as well. The inside is like a typical NY/NJ Italian restaurant. Nothing fancy, but the ambiance doesn't need to be great when the food is good! Certainly worth checking out if you're in DUMBO and are craving some great pizza! read more

The staff miscommunicated the table wait time to my wife and gave out table to someone else. So, we had to wait another 10 mins after already waiting for 20. Second, they messed up our order twice. We ordered two pies, a Margherita Pizza and a White Pizza. The Margherita came in on time. The White one was sent to another table. They came out to get us and sat us at the bar with the view of the kitchen and the hot pizza oven and got the whole show. I had a local beer and their hand tossed fresh pizza and it's very good! The sauce was light enough (especially for me) and the owner and staff were very personable friendly. This location is in the heart of DUMBO and it was decent pizza. I think coming from FL, it should be considered amazing, but I'm not a huge pizza person, but I like it ok... this was decent. I was quite surprised by this given the time of day during the week. The employees work hard and orders come out quickly so they are able to turn over tables quickly for the next guests. Thankfully, with only two people, we were able to get one of a few tables open. We were served water right away and the staff checked in. We ordered the No. 1 pizza. Turnaround time was fast and O-M-G was it good. Totally worth it and some of the best pizza I have ever had. We were hoping for leftovers but sadly that didn't happen. The pizza is range in size from personal up to large. I got the margarita Personal pan pizza and it was delicious! The crust is super thin and the sauce was so simplistic and I loved how you could taste the natural ingredients. Personal pan was definitely perfect size for me. It's four slices but it was perfect. My husband got the spaghetti and meatballs and spaghetti was perfectly cooked and the meatballs are each about 4 ounces in size so they're a good size meatball and they were amazingly seasoned.
