I grew up going to L&B, loved their pizza and was so excited to introduce it to others. Brought my extended family here for a graduation celebration meal and was so embarrassed by how bad this world famous pizza is. The dough in the pie was raw and inedible. The sauce was the cheap cloyingly sweet kind. It was all wrong. Nobody wanted to finish their slice. But honestly it wasn't just the pizza. Everything we ordered was subpar. Dishes are heavy on overcooked pasta with too much sauce and light on actual meat. Everything is oily or over sauced. They're clearly riding on the coattails of fame and allowed the quality to plummet. Sadly I'm unlikely to ever return.

Great customer service, great food, huge portions. Went in tonight for a ladies night and the place didn't disappoint. Cozy, welcoming atmosphere. Restaurant was super clean, and again staff were great. Outdoor seating available which is great since it's getting nicer out. They have a pizzeria outside and ice cream and all! Great place to walk by, grab a quick slice and keep going.

Still some great pizza but getting pricey. $4.50 a slice and $35 a pie now. My mistake was being s good husband and driving it back to Staten Island and not eating 1 or 2 while they were still hot.

One of the best Sicilian pizzas I've ever had. Perfect crust, cheese and sauce. Not that heavy surprisingly. The rainbow spumoni had a strong nut flavor but I really liked it. Overall a great place would highly recommend! Service was also nice.

GOAT! Square slices or full pies from outside counter or dine. Brooklyn water really produces the best crust--light and fluffy, yet crispy, subtle sweetness. delicious sauce and cheese. Highly recommend the chicken parm too -- fresh garlic slivers throughout. The spumoni for dessert is their signature (kids size was ample) if you like pistachio ice cream. Old school charm with 1940s tunes for ambience. They have a parking lot.

For service, id say it was extremely fast. I can give 4 stars to that. Ordered a Sicilian pie, and expected about a 20 min wait, but they had it instantly boxed and gave it to me the moment I paid. Now the 2 stars... pizza was soggy. I ate it almost right away to try it fresh but holy cow what a let down.... the crust was slightly soft and I dont know if it was cause they had it sitting in the box ready to go the moment someone ordered it, but you can tell it was sitting for a bit before it came to my hands. The sauce.... I mean it was only ok.... it became a mess to eat because it caused the pizza to be soft and limp which pretty much kept falling off onto my plate. I had prince street pizza which was a lot more memorable as the dough/crust was a perfectly crisp. To conclude, flavor of the Sicilian pizza, I expected more. All I tasted was dough. The sauce i wish permeated more into the pizza but no.... all I tasted was dough and a layer of sauce that got cut out due to the amount of soggy dough that was with it... I will probably go back to try their spumoni as I heard that was good, but that was also said about the sicilian which let me down. Go to your local Italian pizzeria, it's gonna be better than L&B in my honest opinion.

I have been coming to L&B Spumoni Gardens for almost 15 years now. How have I never left a review for them until now?! And I don't mean that I came once 15 years ago, and stop by every few years. I mean, when I first ate pizza here 15 years ago, I make it a point to eat their pizza at least once a year up to present day. Funnily, though I have been coming here for so long, I have really only ever eaten their famous Sicilian pizza and sometimes treat myself to ice cream - and even then, I only eat the creamsicle soft serve. I am typically very openminded and almost never stick to ordering the same thing over and over and over again. But their Sicilian pizza and their creamsicle ice cream is just so damn good. You can never lose by ordering either of these. It brings such a smile to my face and my belly, and can highlight any bad day. The pricing of the food has definitely been increasing slowly, but it's still worth it in my book. This will forever be one of my top 3 choices for pizza. And you can be sure that I always order extra to take home!

Wow. Sad to say my expectations were much higher than expected. The pizza was extremely burnt on one side. The artichokes were very overcooked and soft. The pasta was okay. Clams were delicious as well as the fried zucchini. Service was definitely a FIVE Star.

I wouldn't say the pizza was ground breaking. It tasted like pizza tastes. Why is this such a phenomenon? There was nothing worth the hype. There isn't enough seating at lunch and it's pricier than everywhere else. The $1.50 pizza in NYC near Penn tastes the same ‍

I love how big and spacious it is. Beautiful decor makes you feel you walked into a little bit of Italy. . Friendly staff from the time you walk in till the time you leave. Love it. Feels like a family place. Very warm and inviting. Even with the customers. Everything was so delicious. What made their pizza stand out for me was the dough. Had a sweet taste and it had a crunchy texture but so soft like eating fresh bread. Delicious. That's coming from someone who's lactose. Eating their upside down pizza was just right. Not too cheesy. I was licking fingers in the end. Can't wait to go back to try something different.

Ordered both square and round pie and I prefer the square pie much more. Not saying the round pie is bad, but the flavor and the thick dough crust is what I like most. The staff is friendly and a pleasure to work with. Helpful in every way. Will definitely come back for more square pies.

My daughter tried her first Sicilian in Philly but being from Brooklyn I had to have her try one from L&B. We came on her Thursday night an hour before closing. We were told the kitchen was close except for pizza. We sat to dine, ordered a square pie and a round. Both were great except round could've been cooked a few minutes more. I loved loved the grated fresh cheese brought to the table!! It was so flavorful! Our leftovers were packed and we were very pleased with Juan's service. He was friendly, seemed kind and very personable. We ate inside as the night air was chilly but they have outdoor seating where I've always ate at. It was great being back, 35 years since I was last here!!! I'll be back sn!!

The pizza really does live up to the hype. Parking is on the street as well as next to the building. I got two Sicilian slices. One corner slice and one center slice. It has a thick crust but not too heavy, with a crisp bottom and a soft center. The corner slice had that extra crunch, the center slice had a little more of that saucy cheesy balance which I like. Both pizza slices are very light even though they look heavy. Sauce goes on top, slightly sweet, and somehow it works perfectly. You can tell they've been doing this forever. 80+ years for a reason. The spumoni was nice on a summer hot day. I got the small and it was the perfect size after two slices. Creamy, cold, and the layered flavors actually stood out, pistachio, chocolate, and vanilla. With little chunks of pistachio in it. There's nothing fancy about the place, but that's part of the charm. You order at the window, grab a table outside, and just eat. No gimmicks, no rush. Just Brooklyn pizza done right. Highly highly recommend.

Came here in the past and always a line out the door so didn't bother. Finally had a chance to try yesterday for late lunch with a friend when there were many empty tables inside, so no line and no waiting. We ordered a medium Margarita based pizza with pepperoni & roasted peppers toppings. We were really surprisd the pizza came out in less than 5 minutes after waiter served us our drink order. Upon biting into it, right away what popped up in my head is 'why is the pizza crust so soggy?' Maybe the knife & fork on the table should've been a dead give away. One saving Grace is the sauce does have a sweetness to it, not tangy like some other famous shop in the Village. And also the 2 toppings were tasty enough to save this dining experice. Before leaving the restaurant, asked our waiter about the crust, he said since restaurant wasn't busy, the kitchen had already pre-made the pizzas, so it was just a matter of heating it and bring it out, hence the fast service. Pro-tip: next time (a big if for this reviewer), one must ask the crust be 'well-done,' in order to get its texture to the desired degree of cripiness that one should expect from what should have been an iconic pizza place in NYC.

I tried looking up this pizza from Target Richfield for a review, but it sent me to the NYC location, so forgive me if this review is in the wrong thread. Anyway, wow. I've been to New York City and ate at the original Joe's Pizza. What an epic slice of pizza. Now back home in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the great white north of snow that never ends, I finally tried the frozen Di Fara pepperoni pizza from Target no less. Sorry Joe's, but this is on par with your pizza (if it was frozen). Dave Portnoy was right with his high review. This pizza is very good. The thick cut pepperoni, great basil, and the crisp chewy crust was excellent for a frozen pizza. Nice under carriage as well. I cooked the pizza at 480 degrees in an electric pizza oven for 10 minutes, and the result was very good. I added a drizzle of hot honey, and it was spectacular (okay, I also added some fresh picked jalapeños as well). The pizza was hot and melted in the center, and the crust was very crisp, but still had some chew. Wow. This was the best frozen pizza I have had. Bar none. New York, you spoiled me when it came to pizza. Now I can get a taste of New York at home. Great job! I may or may not eat the last 3 pieces currently sitting in the fridge before bed.

That said, my overall rating takes a big hit solely for the restaurants ridiculous tipping policy choices rather than the food itself. The automatic 20% gratuity added to the bill was frustrating. The menu does indicate that 18%, will automatically apply, or will be 20% for parties of six or more. We were only three people, so it felt inconsistent and unnecessary. On top of that, the added cost for credit card usage didn't help. I don't mind tipping for good service! In fact, I tip well--but I prefer having the choice and I'm old school so it's the principle of the matter. Being forced into it, takes away from an otherwise enjoyable meal. Bottom line: the food is strong and worth trying, but the billing practices leave a bad taste. If those were adjusted, this could easily be a higher-rated experience.
