I ordered garden salad, chicken marsala, baked mastaccioli, mashed potatoes, Italian beef, bread, brownies, cocktail meatballs, and a fruit tray as a catering order for a party at my work. Everybody loved all the food. Picking it up was so easy, and the man that brought the food to my car even let me know which trays were cold vs. hot so they could be kept separate. All the food was hot even by the time I got back to the office. They also wrapped everything so nothing spilled on the drive. I thought I would give Joe ' a shot knowing full well they are very expensive. I ordered a beef and fries special. I neglected to order it dipped. When the young lady delivered my food I apologized and asked if I could have it dipped. She looked at my quizzically and suddenly I had an open faced sandwich that I needed knife and fork to eat it. It's a good thing I got it "dipped". The beef was so dry and unflavorful. To me nearly unedible. The resulting gravy bread even lacked flavor. Now to the fries. Huge portion. Some crispy and good the rest soggy and gross. The food Joe's had in their old building was so much better than now.. Very disappointing meal. I won't be going back anytime soon. We still have a couple other choices in town. They will get my meal money from now on. I've been a customer for a long time but no more. read more

A disappointing experience from a culinary perspective. It is at best fast food that has little taste. The decor, access and parking are superb, but it seems to be a place focused on a high school aged population rather than a place with good food. I like their sandwiches on there menu. There a little over price but decent. I'm not crazy at all about the french fries though, I find them disgusting and would rather not have that as a side dish. I do miss the deep fried cheesy cauliflower that was at the old location. read more

Food is ridiculously expensive and average quality. Service is slow. I sat in a drive-thru for over 20 minutes before and would have left if I had not already paid. Why have a drive-thru? Don't they imply relatively quick service? Delivery takes up to an hour. I just ordered again and was reminded why I keep telling myself never to waste my money there again. The only reason I have gone back is due to lack of options nearby. So good job guys, we only get your food out of desperation. That must be something to be proud of. read more

My husband and I are not pepperoni /olives pizza guys, Since we were starving on this Saturday,to avoid waiting too long time,we called Joe's Place in advance and ordered a Joe's Special pizza(green pepper,mushroom,sausage,and onion) for dinning in,this is the only type of pizza we eat, when we rushed to the restaurant made the payment ,we got a number for the food we ordered. When I was walking by the "PICK UP ORDER" location,I saw the waitress threw all those paper slips (the receipt and number) right over the pizza,and the number tells it was my food,yes that was my food!. For rescuing my food from the nasty paper slips,I told the girl I could take the food to the table by myself,the girl told me they have person to help,so I said thanks and went back to the table and waited... Pizza finally came,and we noticed the pizza was covered tons of pepperoni and olives(green and black ones), My husband went to the cashier and told the lady they might have served someone else's pizza to us,The lady checked the order showing in the machine,and told that our order was not even close to be ready yet. So we had to keep waiting.Waited about 7 minutes,nobody came and take away the pepperoni pizza on our table.We all have mouth,so we definitely talk.For the reason to keep the food in a good hygiene condition,then I had to take it back to the "Pick up order" location and told the girl it was the wrong pizza and also told the information my husband was told by the cashier lady.Two girls were at the pick up order location,one of the waitress who helped delivered the food said that was exact pizza we ordered, another waitress complained why I had taken away somebody else's pizza,the fact was I did ask her about that but,since she told she would have some one to do it,I was not permitted to take away the food with putting my order number on,I did not even touch it at all!(they talked in a very unkind way,looked like they are always ready for an argument,they did not feel sorry at all about those confusion they caused to the customer), I really did not want to argue, of course I told them I did not take the food by my self,it was the waitress brought that to us. They let us keep waiting, I saw the waitress put the pizza back to the warm oven again,after about 10 minutes, they came back with the same pizza and said that was the pizza we exactly ordered,like I said we really did not want to argue that much,we just accepted the pizza, picked out the pepperoni,ham and olives,we technically ate couple of pieces of pizza dough then left. At Joe's: Too much noise! Even with very few people in the place, there is no sound muffling material, so noise just bounces around and it is loud. Not a relaxing experience. Usually I am relieved to get out! Having family in the fabric business, I would suggest Joe get some kind of wall-hangings or drop-down ceiling hangings throughout the room to soften the noise. Delivery: Once I ordered a pizza and waited forever. Finally I called. It must have been right before they closed. The phone rang and rang and rang. I let it ring since, according to their hours, they were still open. At last someone, a man, answered. I told him my food had never arrived. He was very nice, but offered no refund, no coupon, and no pizza. Instead, he told me the boss had left and he himself would check, put me on hold or put the phone down and NEVER CAME BACK!!! Been here twice the first time ordered 2 hotdogs and fries.It took 45 minutes to get my meal.My wife and I went here on Wedsday for thier all u can eat Broasted chicken.OMG what a joke. They have a plate at the ordering counter to show you what the meal consist of.A 4 peice meal {a breast,thigh,leg and a wing} I wait 50 minutes for my meal to come. I get a leg,wing and 2 thighs.I am a white meat eater.So I ask the server where the breast is.The same guy that took my order and told me a breast comes with it. So I figured after 50 minutes for the first plate I had better order my 2nd right there.The server asked me if I wanted 4 breast.I said ok.After another 45 minutes waiting he brings me 2 breast and 2 thighs.I asked him if they know the difference between a breast and a thigh back there.He said he would check.Are u kidding me. He said he would order some more breast.The next thing I know the Manager comes over to our table with a basket of legs and thighs and tells me they are out of breast.I would have to wait for them to cook some more.And asks me if I would like some of the chicken he brought out. I said NO,I want the breast I have been waiting an hour and a half for.He says ok.I said I dont want to wait another 45 minutes for chicken that takes 15 to 20 minutes to cook.After 30 minutes I went up to the counter and asked where my chicken was.I see the guy putting chicken into the fryer and he says he is just putting it in.WTF. I told the Manager to just put some chicken in a To-Go box so I can get out of this place.He goes in back and after 5 minutes comes back with an Empty box and ask me if I wanted the chicken that he had brought out to me an hour before. So he opens this food warmer and starts putting chicken in the box.This chicken looked like it had been there all day. I told him forget it and my wife and I left.and WE WILL NEVER GO BACK!! Bad service. Tried to go there for dinner last night. After placing our order at the counter (nothing unusual, just sandwiches and fries) waited at our table for 20 minutes ... went back to the counter for an ETA and was told it would be at least another 10-15 minutes because they were too busy. We left because we had someplace else to be. Just to be clear -- this is a fast-food place. It would have been helpful if they had told us it would be a half-hour wait when we placed our order. But based on some of the other comments on Yelp, this is a common occurrence here. read more

We ordered take out 11/17 about 5 p.m. I called again around 6:30 to see where the food was and was told "your order will be the next one out" and that they were "swamped". Long story short, the food never came. What a terrible way to do business. We were never offered the option of coming in to pick up our food (which would have been inconvenient for us) and waiting the add'tl hour and a half, which is how long we were told it could be, didn't produce our order. Neither did we receive a phone call nor an apology. Options in Marengo are limited but only when the man in the red suit comes to say "it's frozen over" will we EVER order/or eat in at Joe's Place. read more

We used to really like the pizza here, but lately it just isn't as tasty. The fries have always been wet and greasy, maybe better right from the deep fryer, but not for take-out... I don't know what they use for their garlic bread but it is horrible! Tastes like old stale rubbery re-cooked shoe insoles, with some garlic added. The last pizza we ordered for take-out had about 2 inches of one side completely missing, like maybe they dropped it on the floor and the edge broke off. Some dumb-ass figured it would be ok to deliver that way! It was blackened or dirty looking on that edge. I called to complain and they offered to send us another, but that would have been too late. So, instead they only issued a $10 credit on our next order. To me that is just shitty customer service. Not a lot of options in Marengo. Stonebaker's is the only one of the three who still has "Marengo" prices. read more
