He started to ask me what languages I speak and came around from the register (old short man identified himself as brazilian) pinched my cheek told me I'm his friend n maybe he'll give me the lower price n squeezed n hugged me at first I thought he was trying to be a sweet old man but then he continued to attempt to repeat this act and I tried to release myself with a joke saying "listen if u hug me this hem is free" joking is my defense mechanism. He continued and I had to say No and stop for real stop. I was supposed to pick up the dress Friday and then remembered I couldn't pick it up Friday so we agreed on Saturday or Monday. And as I walked away I got more angry realizing what happened and I went back in to take my dress back and pretended to get a call from a friend who said they would fix my dress for me.

So nice that I started asking him questions about his 14 year business in town. He was wonderful to talk to. I'm digging for other shoes that may need a bit of TLC and bringing them to him. $12 for both of my heels repair but I gave a bit more on top of his cost. I'm a very happy will be back customer.

Basically, not much better than LV's offer. Just when I was about to resign myself to a life of broken bag straps, I stumbled upon rave reviews for Mr. Maksoud's Handbags & Shoe Repair. Words like "reasonable," "quick," and "great job" were being thrown around. Intrigued, I decided to give it a shot. Mr. Maksoud did not disappoint. He quoted me $200 for both handles, but since I brought my own leather handles from Etsy (because I'm resourceful like that), he only charged me $50. I've been a customer for nearly a decade, and this was the only place I trusted with my shoes. They…read moreused to do excellent work, and I didn't mind the price because the quality justified it. Unfortunately, in the past couple years the quality has declined dramatically. The work has become sloppy, and on each of my last two visits they have actually damaged my shoes. The first time, they were able to improve the damage, so I let it go. This time, multiple pairs in the same order came back damaged, on top of the work being otherwise subpar. I take extremely good care of my shoes, and I can't continue bringing them in for routine work like resoling only to have them come back with damage that wasn't there before. After nearly a decade, I unfortunately no longer trust them with my shoes.
