This is basically the only shoe repair in Newark, NJ that is open before 9:00 a.m. Very friendly and excellent work while you wait.

Took less than 20 minutes to replace the heels on my dress shoes and they looked like brand new shoes.

Mr Maksoud's Handbags & Shoe Repair - Before : My LV Neverfull GM handle was about to break

Mr Maksoud's Handbags & Shoe Repair

I've lived in the North Bergen area for almost 7 years. Luckily, I've never needed a cobbler; until…read moreabout a month ago. Looked up some places, but the reviews weren't so great. My wife found Mr. Maksoud's. At first I was a bit hesitant, but gave it a shot. The place is exactly what I like. Small, the smell of leather and shoe polish that greets you upon entering. Shoes and handbags strewed about. And in the middle of it all is George. Positive, quick with witty retorts, and busy working. He put new heels on a pair of old Cole Haan boots, that I wasn't ready to let go of. George even said they are nice and worth keeping. After about 9 days, I returned to pick them up. The work was great and the price was excellent. 40 dollars. Other places in the area would have charged double. I'm so glad my wife found this place. George also makes keys.

It's as skinny as my patience on a Monday morning--charming, sure, but not exactly built for heavy lifting. After dragging my tote across the globe and using it as a makeshift suitcase accessory, the inevitable happened: the handle started to part ways with the bag. Naturally, my first thought was to consult the LV store for repairs. When they quoted me a jaw-dropping $400 for handle replacements, I nearly choked on my avocado toast. Why shell out that much when the bag itself cost me $750 back in the day? And the repair time typically range from 12 to 26 weeks!!!! Time to shop around. Here's what I found: * Leather Spa 55 (NYC): $200 per handle. * Rago Brothers (NJ): Two new handles for around $395, or repairing one at the base for about $125. Basically, not much better than LV's offer. Just when I was about to resign myself to a life of broken bag straps, I stumbled upon rave reviews for Mr. Maksoud's Handbags & Shoe Repair. Words like "reasonable," "quick," and "great job" were being thrown around. Intrigued, I decided to give it a shot. Mr. Maksoud did not disappoint. He quoted me $200 for both handles, but since I brought my own leather handles from Etsy (because I'm resourceful like that), he only charged me $50. In just a week, he transformed my bag from tragic to magic. I couldn't be happier! Oh, and did I mention? Mr. Maksoud is quite the handsome gentleman. Highly recommended!

I brought in my Louis…read moreVuitton bag after it experienced an unexpected accident that required a very deep and delicate cleaning. This bag means the world to me because it was my very first designer bag, gifted to me over 10 years ago They worked absolute magic! The cleaning and restoration were done with such incredible care and attention to detail. When I got it back, it literally looked brand new You would never know it had gone through anything! Shoutouts to Leather Spa bringing it back to life! On top of that, the turnaround time was so fast which meant so much to me. I'm beyond grateful to have my sentimental piece restored so beautifully. It looks just the same now as it did when I first got it. I highly recommend them to anyone needing expert care for their luxury items! 10/10 experience!

Absolutely despicable. Stay away from Leather Spa at all costs! Destroyed a brand new, unworn pair…read moreof Louboutin boots for which I just paid over $2k at Saks. I first brought the boots to the Grand Central location and was turned away because apparently only 55th Street (the least accessible NYC location for me) does calf alterations. My boots were 1-1.5" too wide in the calves as I have very narrow legs, and while I was clear that I didn't want them to be tight, I did want them to look more fitted and neater around my legs. I went to 55th Street and intentionally had the boots fitted over jeans, repeatedly telling the store employee that he was cutting off my circulation and needed to loosen the boots. Rather than listen to me and do what I asked, he told me that they could stretch them if they turned out too small. I very adamantly said no, I will not compromise the integrity of the leather by stretching them nor will I agree to have the boots made too small so that additional work will be required. I finally asked him to provide the final measurement and was told it was 13". The boots were originally 14.5" for reference. The boots were ready in just over a week, which already had me concerned since I hadn't requested a rush job. Upon receiving them, I could immediately see that they were two different sizes. The left boot is 12.5" and the right boot is just barely 12.25". They are nearly impossible to zip, the seams were done VERY poorly and not straight, and most importantly, they do not fit without severe pain. I cannot walk in them. I literally can't even move my right ankle. And that's on my bare legs without jeans. I immediately contacted Leather Spa and received a response from Vincent who said it's very common for boots with this type of repair to require additional treatment and that I should bring them back for stretching. Did I not already have this conversation BEFORE I paid $300+ to ruin $2k+ boots??? Vincent insists they are not ruined even after I sent photos showing that they very much are. Further, they didn't even send them back to me nicely - they threw shreds of cut leather pieces inside one of the boots and just sent them off that way as further evidence of the total rush job. I used to frequent Leather Spa 55th and my patronage fell off years ago after they did something very similar to a pair of $300 boots. I was very clear during my visit this time that that could not happen again with my brand new Louboutin boots that were significantly more expensive. Had the employee just told me on the spot that they were going to cut my boots too small and require stretching thereafter, I would've taken the boots, walked out and gotten them repaired elsewhere. Literally the only reason I returned to Leather Spa is because Christian Louboutin recommends them. Never again.
