Joey Bs is a go-to place for us. The wife loves their buffalo wing pizza. This past time we got pizza, spadini, with a side of pasta and a salad. Service was spot on. The pizza was good... not a bunch of toppings but lots of flavor. The spadini was good too, simple... maybe a touch overdone, but the lemon butter sauce was good with it. The side salad was suprisingly better than I expected, along the lines of rich & charlies, the pasta was a little overdone but the sauce on it was fine. There are lots of TVs here. Any new restaurant in south county usually draws a huge crowd for a few months upon opening. We have eaten at the Joey Bs on the hill already so we knew what to expect. Husband and I arrived early on a Friday night, cardinals game on the TV and found a table in the bar area without having to wait. The line for the dining room had about a 30 minute wait. We order a beer and looked over the menu. The jukebox was really loud and playing club/hip hop music. Not your typical family restaurant music. The food was great! I had the Philly cheese sandwich which I have to say was the best I have ever had. The meat was juicy, cream cheese and loaded with green peppers. They also have a great chicken spedini dinner. Joeys is owned by the Gianinos family so you can always expect great food. Close to home, local and great food we will be back. read more

Joey B's Food & Drink is part of a fairly famous family of restaurants in the St Louis area including Joey B's On The Hill, Frankie Gianino's and Bill Gianino's. So I assumed the food would be good. My wife and I arrived for a post-Valentine's dinner. At 5:00pm, the place was packed and we were told it would be a thirty minute wait for a table. We put our name on the list and stood in the bar area. The bar tables were first-come-first-serve. If a table opened up we could take it. There is a very small "waiting" area and it was already full when we arrived. By the make up of the crowd, we almost assumed they had a "kids eat free" night with all the families. I can't criticize a place for being popular but standing elbow to elbow next to a table trying to enjoy their meal is a little irritating. We were seating 45 minutes after we arrived. Fortunately, our table was in the back of the restaurant in a quiet section. That buffered us from the noise of the main dining area. Those tables were close together and the sound level was deafening. Our server, Jenn, stopped by to take our drink orders and returned to take our orders. While the menu is weighted in the Italian foods, there are very few purely traditional dishes. There is a wide assortment of appetizers, salads, pizzas and sandwiches. My wife selected the Pommodoro; bow tie noodles prepared in a seasoned sauce with olive oil, butter, garlic and parmesan cheese with fresh tomatoes & mushrooms. I opted for the Tortellini. (A traditional choice but I like what I like) Jenn brought out some bread and butter to tide us over while we weighted. The bread was not home made and tasted like it was purchased at the grocery store. A little disappointing. When our entrees arrived, we thought that we accidentally double ordered. The portions were huge and we immediately knew what was for lunch the next day. The bow tie pasta was well-cooked and the seasoned olive oil was perfect. The tortellini was fresh and large. The sausage stuffing was spicy and flavorful. The sauce was very nice and not too thick. The next day, we re-heated the leftovers to re-live the experience. The pasta did not hold up. Overall, the food was adequate. What it lacked in "spectacular" it up for in volume. The atmosphere is relaxed; so much so that everyone brought their noisy kids. Between the loudness, the wait time for a table and the average food; I won't be rushing back to Joey B's. read more

Management is sub par at best. The bartender tonight Ashley, was not with a full bar by any means, yet all she did was cater to her "friends" that we're sitting at the bar. We usually sit at the bar and I'm a bartender to boot. She was so concerned with her friends that she wouldn't wait on us until we had to wave at her, and not very personable at that. Love this location but will definitely pick my nights coming here if you're going to have someone who is more concerned about people she knows to the people she doesn't. People you know will ALWAYS come back, people you don't WONT. The people she knows should be the last served, any good bartender knows that. Highly dissapointed, and all of our food was cold. This was our first time to visit this restaurant and we were very pleased. The service was exemplary and the food outstanding. The first course, salad, was very fresh and loaded with cheese and a variety of veggies and served with fresh Italian bread that was still warm. The main course, Chicken Modiga, was served with a white pasta side dish and consisted of 2 large chicken breasts covered with a light breading and topped with a generous portion of Modiga sauce. I thought we just had a bad experience but a family member told me you'll be waiting almost an hour or longer for food on a Saturday night. Our food took about 45 minutes or longer. Our waitress walked passed our table at least 3 times before she asked for our drink order. When she finally took our drink order we waited another 10 minutes. It could be that the waitresses are not allowed to make their own drinks and they have to wait on the bartender that's chatting it up with everyone. Food is great, but not great enough to keep me coming back due to some of the worst service I have ever received. Even from management. Starting out, I want to mention we both work in restaurants and have for years, so we understand what is and isn't acceptable, all things considered from a customer and employee point of view. We walked in on a very busy Friday afternoon. The two hosts (one was either a manager or just a trainer, training the other host). We stood there for about a minute before either of them acknowledged us with no other guests up at the host stand. The manager/trainer was able to immediately bring us to a patio table which was great, but now looking back, I wish we were put on a wait due to how unavailable our server was. Having worked at restaurants with patios, I know with the unpredictability of how the weather can be, it may be difficult to staff properly....but as we are waiting about 15 minutes for our drinks, I see two servers/hosts leaving the restaurant for a break or end of shift. Seemed a little weird to me seeing how busy the restaurant was. We placed an order for an appetizer, side salad, and entree about 5 minutes after our drinks arrived. I was surprised at the poor service due to our server only having two or three other patio tables and complete lack of urgency to bring anything to any of the tables. We received an appetizer which was brought out by someone else. Not realizing we didn't have any silverware, napkins or app plates before the person bringing our appetizer walked away, we sat there for about 10 minutes waiting for the opportunity to let someone know we needed them. After 10 minutes passed, I walked up to someone and asked for them. Walking back to the table, the server finally came out watching me set down the app plates with no acknowledgement that she didn't bring any to us prior to our appetizer arriving. Instead, she walked right past us and grabbed the tip off of the table next to us that had just left. Our negative experience was slightly validated when another table next to us, who had arrived about 30 minutes after us, complained about their food taking too long while we still had just received our appetizer and side salad. The manager came out 10 minutes after they had informed the server that they were upset and it gets worse...he said the reason their food took so long was because one of the people at the table had ordered a side salad which makes the rest of the food delayed. I'm no expert, but for one, it certainly should not take 30 minutes for a main course to arrive after a salad. And for two, managers should never put the blame on the customer. The manager then got defensive after the guest stated that there's no way that it should take that long saying "I'm just trying to get to the bottom of this!" Overall, an extremely poor experience at a restaurant I was very excited to try for the first time. I would much rather spend $50 on lunch at a place that gives me a tad bit more acknowledgement instead of a place that acknowledges me about 4 times for the long hour and a half that I was there. Walked in and rec'd a friendly greeting. Requested to order "to go" and was provided a menu. When I walked back up to the hostess to give my order with three staff members standing there and I was ignored, which felt like several minutes. Two were looking at me and the one who greeted me had her back to me. I had to wait for the girl whose back was to me and who provided the greeting and a menu to get any communication. I was then told I needed to wait for the "curbside staff" to take my order. After I was able to place my order and the three young ladies at the hostess stand continued started to complain about another staff member. I rec'd order and rec'd a friendly "thank you for coming." When I opened the bag, there weren't utensils or napkins. Assumed there would have been ketchup in the bag for my fries or they would have at least asked if I wanted ketchup. No ketchup. I ordered a cod sandwich with homemade chips, it wasn't bad but I would rather eat the cod sandwich from Culver's. This was my first time here. Not saying I'll go back. Had a party of 12 made a call ahead reservation, they already had the table ready when we got there which is great!! However I was not very happy that my grandmother couldn't order off of the kids menu. She doesn't even eat as much a toddler why should she have to order an adult meal? I was also not impressed with our food coming out at 3 different times either. So part of the table was almost done eating before the last part even got their food.
