The food - a classic burger and blackened chicken fajitas - was very good and the service was quick, thoughtful and showed an awareness of small details. Our server, Laureta, intuited that we would need extra napkins and lots of ice water, given Toronto's hot summer weather. The average: steaks were cooked nicely, but I wish the portions were a bit larger - I'd expect 8 oz sirloins, not 6 oz. The "crispy mashed potatoes" are essentially two spring rolls filled with mashed potatoes and cheese. The first several bites were yummy, but they soon became overly cheesy for my taste. Miso mushrooms were a nice option as an add-on. The subpar: drinks were abysmal. Given the type of restaurant this is, and with a decent looking cocktail list,I expected much better. The margaritas come with egg white - but not enough to make a nice thick layer. Rather, they looked like white stuff floating in the drink and adding nothing in terms of flavor or texture. While it's listed as Joey Yorkdale this location does not have a mall entrance. To access the restaurant you have to exit the doors next to the ScotiaBank. Reservations were made for an early dinner at 5 for 4 people. When I arrived one of 1 our group was already there waiting. She had been waiting 5 minutes with no hostess in sight, we probably waited another 5 minutes before the hostess appeared to take our name, meanwhile the little space in front of her was filling up. We were then taken to a table that could seat 7-8 people. Not a lot of pictures but everyone at the table ordered a drink, main and dessert. Portions looked small for the price charged. Someone at the table ordered the 6 oz Joey classic steak with a side of cilantro chimichurri sauce (2 bucks!). When the dish came the steak made me think of a minute steak and the chimichurri sauce for 2 bucks? It came in this small metal condiment contain and there must have been less than 2 tablespoons of sauce in there. The oven roasted wild cod though was really good. Fish was perfectly cooked portion was perfect. For dessert I would recommend the warm Italian donuts. For 14 bucks you get 6 decently sized donuts that remind me of bombolone. What ruined the evening was the service, from being seated to our server, things didn't not move quickly. One of the best happy hours! Daily 2-5pm and some locations also have 9pm to close on certain days. My family ordered of the happy hour: steak frites, guacamole, chicken lettuce wraps and a few drinks. I got my absolute favourite meal the chicken katsu salad. We got the hummus but swapped for corn chips for a gluten free option, parm fries, gyozas and mini steak French dips. All easy, well plated and tasty. For the mains, we all had various steak options. We ordered Joeys classic steaks. The potatoes were served as spring rolls with mash inside - very interesting. Not sure if I'm a fan or not, but interesting indeed. I opted for the steak and ravioli bianco. Steak was prepared to a proper rare and the shrimp on top of the ravioli were good but nothing to rave about. I enjoyed the ravioli the most. Steak and sushi was also ordered, my friend seemed happy with her plate. What did surprised me was that the blue rare option was available, for those who are brave enough. The desserts were good. I enjoyed the molten lava - came with raspberries, raspberry compote and vanilla ice cream. All in all it was a great dinner. Decor was nice, though dusty (looking up at the massive chandeliers over the bar). The washrooms access is via stairs isn't fun and annoying when they have people waiting are blocking the elevators. Is it just me or has Joey really stepped up on their food? To be fair I'm not sure if I want to Joey and us in the past few years to really compare but I've been going to Joey once a month or every other month this past year and every time it's been really good. I would usually start off with a few appetizers like their avocado and corn dip, which is basically just guacamole and chips and that has been consistently delicious along with their truffle fries which remains on par with places like cactus club. Really good! I've been getting the blackened chicken lately, and the chicken is really juicy and nicely spiced with a little kick to it and it comes on a bed of smash roasted potatoes, which are crispy on the outside and beautifully dressed in this delicious zesty sauce, with a side of some type of kale cabbage slaw, which is super flavourful as well, and a nice balance to the starchiness of the potatoes and the chicken. The time before last I went to the Eaton Center, Joey location and I had the Katsu chicken salad, and that was super fresh and delicious and juicy as well. Four out of five times when upon entering a Joey location we get greeted with a complementary glass of sparkling wine while we wait for our table to get ready which is a really nice way to start our dining experience. I will say that most locations seem to be slightly understaffed, but the service has always been really friendly. And the decor is really nice honestly. At this location. They're a few artefacts of different places in Toronto like the table I was sitting out, was facing a wall that hung a extremely large ask that came from the very first Fairmont hotel in Toronto. Honestly, any Joey location that's close by has been my go to spot for an easy to please crowd because it has such a diverse menu and really delicious food and ambience. read more

I have been to this Joey about 5 times now and have not been disappointed once. The service is outstanding, the hostess offers you sparkling wine (non alcoholic) to the table when they bring you in. I always get seated by the patio area which has a lot of light coming through during the day. They have a second floor in this Joey which you can ask for if you wish. Washrooms are upstairs. I always order Ravioli Bianco when I come here. I don't eat that much usually and I always devour this. I can't get enough! The tangy taste in the sauce is addicting and they put enough shrimp with your ravioli, great ratio! I always come here to order this and have never been disappointed once. Well, I've been back a couple of times since I first reviewed this spot 7 years ago, and not much has changed. It's still a beautiful restaurant, the decor inside was quite unique in that it had multiple screens on the walls...NONE ago which were playing television shows! They were displaying ART(!), and it was so refreshing not to see CP24 headlines distracting me while I ate. I had the Farmers Market Salad (no burger this time...I needed some veggies haha) with chicken, and wow, it was substantial! A great mix of flavours and textures, it was super filling and I would definitely try it again. The only sour note on this visit was that service was s l o w...granted it was lunch time, and they were relatively busy, but we were still sat for at least an hour before any food arrived. I would recommend all items as they were flavourful and cooked perfectly. The dessert was the star of the show, better dessert than the bakeries and Italian restaurant I've went to in Toronto. They were warm, fresh and the ratio of filling to donut was perfect! My only critique would be to have equal number of raspberries to donuts so that you can have a raspberry with each donut. My daughter and I have an annual Christmas shopping day together and always eat at Joey's Yorkdale. This year the experience was underwhelming. Our server was Angelina, it felt like she was either new or not in a great headspace that day. Service was slow, inattentive - not once were we asked if we would like another drink when our glasses were clearly empty. In past years we have had the guacamole w/corn dip as an appetizer, this year we told this was only available during Happy Hour. My daughter is Gluten Free and Angelina was not able to suggest an alterate appetizer so we only had 2 Tuna salads as our mains. When the bill came, I proceeded to try and work out whether the suggested tip amount was before or after tax. Angelina saw me on my phone with the calculator open and when I asked her if the tip was before or after tax she confidently said before tax. Even though the service did not really deserve a tip, with it being Christmas I proceeded to click the 18% option. When I got home and calculated the tip, the auto tip INCLUDES tax. So Angelina did not tell us the truth and effectively they suggest a tip on the tax amount. The actual tip amount is over 20% - I will choose another restaurant option in the future. read more

We dined here on a Friday night, and we did not have to wait to be seated. The attendant promptly walked us to our seats and was very accommodating the whole evening. My group ordered the following menu items: CAB Sirloin Steak & Sushi ($32+4), Chicken Parmesan ($26.75), and Prawn & Lobster Ravioli ($32). They all turned out great with the food plating and presentation being on point. The steak was the right amount of tender and juicy. The chicken parmesan was also equally delectable. Overall, I have nothing to complain about the whole dining experience except for a couple of obvious facts that may already be expected for a restaurant of this standard. The menu is on the pricey side, and there are small food portions for some of the dishes. The Prawn & Lobster Raviolo meal is one such example. Returned here to try some more of their food. We got the sliders royale (a favourite shareable), spaghetti, Thai curry noodle bowl, and BBQ salmon rice bowl. There was some struggle initially to order the sliders with the toppings on the side, but in the end it worked out. They're still a go-to appetizer option. The spaghetti was deeply disappointing. It wasn't very rich or even tomato-saucy at all--it lacked much flavour at all, seemingly relying on the Parmesan to do the heavy lifting. The portion was also pretty much 2 bites. It was a very confusing item to receive...and the pasta wasn't al dente. The Thai curry noodle bowl and BBQ salmon rice bowl were both great! The their curry was nice and saucy to coat all the noodles. The salmon was beautifully seared and sesame-like. The mixed of ingredients in both bowls were wonderful and felt like a full and rounded meal. Overall, I still enjoy coming to Joey. Make sure you put your name down early, I came for a late lunch on Friday and the wait was an hour. They will text you when it's ready. I got their crispy chicken sandwich which was mediocre. The chicken batter seemed to be Panko crumbs and the chicken itself didn't have much flavour. I also ordered the matcha mojito which didn't have any matcha flavour at all so I wouldn't recommend. The service was super slow when I was there at around 1:30 pm. It seemed like our waitress forgot about us most of the time and we had to wave her down multiple times to order or get the bill. FYI shade is not guaranteed on the patio and it's not completely covered, just a couple fixed umbrellas so depending on the time of day, some tables won't have any shade at all. The table size limit for the patio is 4 people so if you are more than 4 you will have to sit inside. read more

Nice sit down place to catch up with family/friends/or whom ever. Food is beautifully presented and there are a varieties to choose from (from sushi to steak to burgers). Food aren't exceptional, but very decent for a large chain restaurant. I would go back as it is a great place to sit, chat with friends and grab a meal. Post the COVID-19, they have a very evident turnover of staff as it is not the experience I used to have. The hostesses themselves are extremely rude, arrogant, and cocky. They talk to you like you're a child or don't understand English . I cannot express anymore how disgusted and letdown I am by Joey restaurant Yorkdale as this was my second home at one point in my life for many many years (7 years and 3 x a week ) however I will never be returning to this location again. I hope to God they remember what they stand for because I cannot express more how disgusted I am on how badly I was treated when I walked into the door. Unfortunately I didn't see any familiar faces, therefore I don't feel so bad never returning to the spot again. It's unfortunate. If their employees don't feel like serving people maybe they should consider getting another career. As a service provider myself I'm disgusted and how I was treated, and based on what others have told me, Joey (Yorkdale) has really gone downhill in the past few years.
