Small 7 Cheese Mac n Cheese
    Cassandra R.

My former patient had this on yesterday and he and his wife talked about how good it was. It looked delicious and I wanted to try it so my coworkers and I ordered DoorDash. I am not impressed. The patty melt had absolutely no taste to it. All I taste were onions. The meat had absolutely no flavor. The Mac and cheese was bland. It taste like boxed Mac and cheese. It was delivered too fast I knew something was wrong. They put no effort into making it taste good. After a couple of bites my coworker stated she was over it. I am too and we won't be ordering here again

My partner and I went to Joey G's on a Saturday afternoon and stepped into cheesy mac heaven. Here is what we ordered: Classic Mac & Cheese (small) Cheeseburger Mac & Cheese (small) Cheesy Fries (large) Italian Beef w Giardiniera Scoop of ice cream (chocolate chip cookie dough) Free Italian butter cookie with a $5 purchase We felt like little kids, giddy and delighted. It is fast casual; order at the counter and seat yourself. The cashier did bring our food out to us, and our food came out freshly made to order in tin foil containers, which were then placed in bright yellow baskets. I love Joey G's diner feel. Taking all the leftovers from our meal was super easy, all we had to do was ask for lids. My partner, mid-bite of a forkful of cheesy pasta, said "this is the best mac n cheese I've ever had." We've been wanting to come here for about a year, and finally trekked to Ukrainian Village. The restaurant is right at the corner of Western and Augusta. We found free parking easily along Western. We wanted to try a specialty mac and the classic mac so we could compare against a control. The cheese was creamy and nothing that I could ever recreate on my own. I can't wait to try the jalapeño mac and the Buffalo Chicken mac, and the chicken bacon ranch mac. They use the corkscrew rotini/fusilli noodles and it just catches and holds all the cheese. Their mac n cheeses was drool-worthy and the smalls came with two pieces of garlic bread. Another note about their Italian Beef. I mean, WOW. Move over Portillo's, maybe I've been living under a rock but their Italian beef here I would dare say was actually my favorite. We ordered it wet with giardiniera and I am still thinking about it. Their Monday special is an Italian Beef sandwich (limit two!) for ONLY $5.95. I am trying to clear my Mondays just for this deal. Joey G's is all the rage, get your Mac (fusilli) & cheese fix, plus your Italian Beef fix, and just get here stat! You can choose an Italian butter cookie from the counter with an order of $5. And coming back to the feeling of nostalgia and being a kid, my partner and I ended our meal by sharing an ice cream cone and nibbling on cookies. It does not get better than this :)

Small business but big flavor! Two outdoor tables. Lots of unique dishes using man n cheese as the base. Attentive server.

Nice and friendly service inside. I appreciated how I was handled and treated by the cashier. Very efficient but still treated like a patron. The Mac and cheese options were extensive and I tried the Italian beef and 7 cheese. I didn't love their base Mac n cheese and all of the options were just the base plus other things. When I want Mac n cheese, I'm usually looking for something richer and more full and I just didn't get that feeling. It's hard to describe but it felt thin like velveta vs a proper roux and cheese. I doubt they use velveta but probably a lot of American cheese which has its place don't get me wrong, but I think I would've preferred a harder and sharper cheese in the mix just to make it more interesting and give it more of a mouthfeel.

Definitely book ahead. We all ordered the Grand Tasting, which lets you try three entrees plus a beverage. It was so much food but everything was delicious. I had the short rib, fried chicken, and catfish, each with different sides. The only thing I did not really care for was the dressing. They also had live entertainment, which made the vibe even better. Customer service was just okay, but I would still recommend it. The ambiance wasn't quite what I expected, but the service and food made up for it. I ordered the Caribbean stuffed turkey leg, which came with pasta, spinach, a couple of jumbo shrimp, and a turkey drumstick. The dish was flavorful and satisfying overall. My only criticisms were that the spinach was chopped so finely that it was hard to really taste it, and the turkey drumstick seemed smaller than expected. I was hoping for a meatier drumstick, but most of the meat was concentrated toward the bottom of the bone. For dessert, I had a slice of carrot cake, and it was excellent. I would have loved for it to be served warm, but it was still moist, flavorful, and a great way to end the meal. I also tried the fried pound cake, and unfortunately, it was a miss for me. It didn't taste like pound cake, and honestly, it wasn't a very good cake in general. It's not something I would order again. One thing I noticed is that the menu doesn't appear to offer appetizers or salads, which might be something to consider if you're looking for more variety before your main course. Overall, I enjoyed my visit. While there were a few things that could be improved, the stuffed turkey and carrot cake were enjoyable, and I'd be willing to come back and try something else on the menu.

We started with a bunch of cocktails (I wish I remember the names.. but they were all so good!). Food to start, we ordered the Charcuterie, and the House Made Pretzel. We were obsessed with both! The charcuterie did not skimp out like some cheese/meat plates do.. it was a satisfying amount that we kept going back for more. The pretzel was outstanding, twisted and hot, perfectly soft and salty. To eat, I split the Gretel Griddle Burger and the Fried Chicken Sandwich with my friend because although we were there for the burger, I kept reading about the chicken sandwich being fantastic. Booyy they were not wrong!! As much as I loved the burger, the chicken sandwich was my favorite! Perfectly crispy, with this sweet and spicy glaze and the crunchy Asian pear slaw... OMG. I'm still dreaming about this! One thing we were excited about were the Elote Riblettes.. but I wouldn't order these again. I accidentally bit the whole thing and didn't realize they kept the core in, and I had to spit it out. And even after eating it properly it didn't feel like I got enough of it from those little bites. Loved the fries though! We didn't see a dessert menu but we would have definitely been interested in that. After all the drinks apps and the chicken sandwich I was feeling so full so I couldn't finish the burger so I got it wrapped to go. But let me tell you even when I reheated that burger the next day.. it was fantastic!! Overall we may have been the loudest and most obnoxious group (we get a bit excited haha) our waiter and the vibe were all matched! Genuinely loved this place, and looking forward to coming back soon.

The mushroom and kale pie was nice and cheesy and the rocking vegan pie was more savoury, with a variety of vegetables and chickpeas as stuffing. The crust was neither too soft nor too crunchy. The dipping sauce that came with the chips reminded me of tikka masala sauce, and paired beautifully with the chips. Dessert was toffee pudding: the caramel sauce that came with the pudding was delectable - the pudding itself was excellent and not overly sweet. We tried a variety of NA beers, and I was pleased with how many options they had. Service was quick, and we were well looked after. The ambiance is warm, with dim-ish lighting and a lot of dark wood. The chicken pie I think really needed the chutney that you can get separately. But that made it so much better and made it my preferred pie. The steak and ale pie was better than the chicken pie as a standalone, but needed a bit more gravy I think to elevate it. Sticky toffee pudding again was delicious. Surprisingly light, not overly dense so I was glad it came with the custard which was very flavorful. Overall, will definitely return!

After finally deciding, we placed our order and were impressed by the speed at which our food came out! It was fast for a sit-down restaurant! While we devoured our meal, which was INCREDIBLE by the way (I had the meatloaf and it was delicious!), our wonderful waiter continually checked in to see if we needed anything (but not to an annoying level). The customer service lacked tremendously from the youthful stuff(late teens/very early 20's) But I will say the most underwhelming thing about this experience was the building. Inside & out it was very primitive & just flat out old. I know they just moved from another location and looking to get their foot in the door. But hopefully a renovation is in the plans. The process of getting seated through a busy period, and the service throughout was excellent. But as often happens with me, the food didn't live up to the hype. My wife and I were picking up my brother and his son from O'Hare at around 10 am on a Saturday. We had dinner plans with our uncle, but had not planned anything in between. The flight came in on time, and once confirmed we all had the time, my brother suggested going to Chicago to try Au Cheval. He knew about their location LV, but none of us had tried their original location in Chicago. So we drove into Chicago, arriving at the restaurant at 11 (it opens at 10am). There was a check-in stand set-up outside, where someone was taking names/phone numbers to put on the waiting list. We were quoted a 45 minute wait, and got the text to hurry back after about 30 minutes. There was a line to put your name down on the list, so we skipped that by going right in. The friendly hostess seated us in a booth, with a nice view of the kitchen where they were making the burgers in mass. The waitress explained that a single burger meant two patties (each patty is 4 oz, so basically a half pound burger), and a double meaning three. My brother and his son both ordered a double cheeseburger ($19.99 each), and I got a single with added sunny side up egg ($21.48). I wanted my wife to be able to take a bite, so asked for everything to be on the side (sauce, dill pickle slices, and grilled onion bits). We also ordered french fries ($8.99), cooked in duck fat. In the meanwhile, followed a fellow yelpers suggestion and got two Allagash Whites ($9 each) for me and my nephew. It's a really good beer that I've had many times during happy hour, and goes great with rich, greasy food. My wife got something else: the General Janes Chicken, which is their version of Korean Fried Chicken ($24.98). She enjoyed it (the coating was still crispy, and the sauce had that pronounced kochujang flavor that we like). Everything is a la carte here (except for the complementary pickle spear with burgers), so she shared in the ordered fries. Food came out together and was served hot. There is a mandatory 3.25% surcharge, and payment is taken at the table. As mentioned, service was excellent throughout. To be honest, I'm not the right person to judge a burger like this (I like it backyard style, with a lot of lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles...and mayo/ketchup). But my brother and nephew are (they have tried many, many burgers all across the world, and don't like too much toppings on their burger), and they said the burger was just OK for them. I liked the frites (cooked in duck fat)...very light in color, but still crispy on the outside. However, nobody else really ate them, saying they weren't great. It's unusual for me to be the least critical after dining, but I'm sure it had something to do with the observation that I didn't have to pay for it (since it was my brother's treat).
