Been wanting to try this place for years and finally got the chance to! It's a cute little hole in the wall with plenty of options to pick from. From the obvious, Mac and cheese, to burgers and chicken tenders. They even have plenty of dessert options. The wait staff were so accommodating and kind. I came here with a friend group and we were the only guests dining inside. They had music blasting and we asked if they could lower the volume a bit and did so immediately. I got the All American patty melt with a side of fries. The fries were top tier. I enjoy my fries on the crispier side and there was definitely a good amount that were crispy. I also like the type of fries that look directly cut from a russet potato. The patty melt was to be expected. A typical diner type. It did lack flavor/seasoning, so I appreciated the onions which gave it some help flavor wise. The patty was also dry, so that was unfortunate. The pulled pork Mac and cheese was good. It was a healthy portion of the toppings, but the Mac and cheese itself fell short on the flavor as well. I can see and taste real cheese, but something was missing. I also prefer more aldente noodles and these were on the almost overcooked side for me. The garlic bread is your standard can't go wrong garlic bread. I gave 4/5 because I expected more flavor for the Mac and Cheese. They specialize in it after all! Overall, I think dishes would benefit from some extra seasoning, but for the price it's pretty unbeatable. I got the italian beef mac n cheese. Im glad they gave an extra side of hot giardiniera bc I like my food spicy. The beef itself was classic, nothing special. The only thing I don't like about the online menu is that is doesn't really explain how big each portion is. I went ahead and ordered two large portions, a 7 cheese and a classic. The portions are huge, large was enough for me husband and I to split. Pretty good value considering we got four servings out of it. My partner and I went to Joey G's on a Saturday afternoon and stepped into cheesy mac heaven. It is fast casual; order at the counter and seat yourself. The cashier did bring our food out to us, and our food came out freshly made to order in tin foil containers, which were then placed in bright yellow baskets. I love Joey G's diner feel. Taking all the leftovers from our meal was super easy, all we had to do was ask for lids. My partner, mid-bite of a forkful of cheesy pasta, said "this is the best mac n cheese I've ever had." We've been wanting to come here for about a year, and finally trekked to Ukrainian Village. The restaurant is right at the corner of Western and Augusta. We found free parking easily along Western. We wanted to try a specialty mac and the classic mac so we could compare against a control. The cheese was creamy and nothing that I could ever recreate on my own. I can't wait to try the jalapeño mac and the Buffalo Chicken mac, and the chicken bacon ranch mac. They use the corkscrew rotini/fusilli noodles and it just catches and holds all the cheese. Their mac n cheeses was drool-worthy and the smalls came with two pieces of garlic bread. Another note about their Italian Beef. I mean, WOW. Move over Portillo's, maybe I've been living under a rock but their Italian beef here I would dare say was actually my favorite. We ordered it wet with giardiniera and I am still thinking about it. Their Monday special is an Italian Beef sandwich (limit two!) for ONLY $5.95. I am trying to clear my Mondays just for this deal. When I want Mac n cheese, I'm usually looking for something richer and more full and I just didn't get that feeling. It's hard to describe but it felt thin like velveta vs a proper roux and cheese. Easily the worst mac and cheese I've ever had and quite possibly the worst thing I've ever gotten from a restaurant. Whatever substance they're passing off as cheese is truly vile. It reminds me a lot of school cafeteria nacho cheese, but with a much more off-putting flavor and texture.
