I just moved to the Uptown neighborhood and about one beer walk north of me I made this incredible discovery! I had a gyro last week and kept the menu! Tonight I ordered a 14" Chicago Style STUFFED PIZZA with cheese and sausage for under $20! Only problem was carrying it about (4) blocks! It weighed 10 lbs. (6) huge pcs. I can eat for a week! So much cheese, don't swallow early! Gina was very friendly and when I ordered it on the phone she said it would take 40 minutes and that's when I knew it was perfect! I love this place. I ain't mad atcha! I stopped in to get some tips because we decided we weren't cooking a thing on the fourth. And ya know what?! Kudos to them for being a trusty citizen and being open on to serve the public bbq. I appreciate thee. Got the tips and I will say they give you a ton of food for the price point. Garlic bread, tips, fries, and cole slaw. Tips were decent though. Tender for sure, sauced up plenty but I miss the smoke, the char on these Chicago staples. They tasted baked in the oven with sauce. Sauce tasted like a mild sauce more so than bbq. I would go back and try something else because they have a plethora of offerings. But if you are in the mood for bbq and don't want to venture to the south side (that's where the best bbq lives in Chicago, sorry not sorry) or the west side, it may scratch your itch. I love ordering the $12 dollar meal deal barbecue and fries on door dash. I use to live close by but I've moved and they still deliver.

The owner might be the most respectful, hard working and truly a blessing to the community. Coming from Colorado I was looking for some authentic Mexican and man did he not only deliver the best burrito I've had since moving here but he was so kind beyond belief. Made me feel like I was talking to a friend I knew for years. This is my new official spot and I can't wait to try the rest of the menu which looks AMAZING. This used to be my favorite spot every time I visited the northside. Unfortunately, my recent experiences have left me deeply disappointed. The staff has been extremely rude--in fact, during my last visit, they got my order wrong. When I pointed it out, they blamed a Spanish woman who supposedly made the food, and then snapped at me, asking what I expected since it was already finished. I was told it wasn't their issue and that I could either take the food as is or leave.. It's clear I won't be returning here again. I got the gyro plate and it was very very tasty unlike some places where you can tell they use cheap "gyro meat" therefore it be chewy and dry. The worst experience ever. Food is half of what you pay for. It's too salty, I couldn't eat it. New owners and bad business. The people are not paying $20 a meal for half of Food. The pizza is delicious but apparently their delivery people have never seen or used an intercom/buzzer in their life. Also, when I call to tell them my delivery is 45 minutes late why are they rude and dismissive to the customer? I've been trying to take a picture of the meal, I start eating it and forget. I love a well seasoned fried crispy and juicy chicken breast. 90% of the time they deliver. Size will vary from dinner to dinner, but when you get those big breasts, and their done to perfection, they're delicious. You get two sides and garlic bread. If your watching your calories it can feed a family. But if you love breasts like me, it's more like eat three with hot sauce and fries and one with the coleslaw for a midnight snack. I always think they should make a 4 breast dinner with some rib tips combo, add some soda or wine for the perfect picnic basket pickup before you hit the beach, music festival or chill meal at home. read more

Unlike others, I didn't seem to have an issue with the man wearing glasses. I went here at about 9PM on a weeknight, as I was in the area and craving some late night wings. What I will say, though, is that the wings themselves were pretty disappointing. I didn't like the barbecue sauce and the wings were very tiny. But for the price, the shoddy condition of both the interior and exterior, my expectations were set pretty low. I had been here many moons ago and remembered them having some passable ribs so maybe I should've ordered that instead, but to look through rose colored glasses perhaps it's a foregone conclusion that this place isn't that good - it's just cheap and open late. This place is a true Uptown gem, and I really don't understand some of these reviews. This corner institution has a mile-long menu but most of the offerings are great. Their ribs get smoked each morning and smell incredible as a neighbor honestly. Just left this establishment literally 3 mins ago. I've never been here before, but was visiting a friend in the area and decided to stop bye; big mistake. Tried the pork chops and mashed potatoes. It was very good. Would have been excellent but, just a little too much pepper. Also bought the charcoal chicken plate it was very good too except I did not like the French dressing. I was enjoying the salad without the dressing then made the mistake of pouring the dressing on before tasting, it was awful and ruined my salad. We've been ordering from Uptown for 30 years and it is one of our favorite places to eat in Chicago! Their Italian Beef with mozzarella is the best we've had. Their fries are perfect, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and best paired with their amazing barbecue sauce. Like a lot of the most recent reviews, overall UP&B used to be MUCH BETTER. The food is decent, wholesome but not spectacular. The ribs are good, love the coleslaw, it's pretty hard to mess up french fries, onion rings or mozzarella sticks and my BFF swears by the meatloaf! Yes, it's open late and fairly cheap. As far as eat in ambiance, there's none and I only do delivery. It's an old school neighborhood restaurant, no ordering Apps and I don't even think online ordering so, you're stuck calling in and being rudely answered on the phone. It seems like a chore to take your order, so I give the benefit of doubt that they're just "busy". They don't offer you the order total, vague arrival expectation time...nothing, unless you ask. Lastly, the most recent sausage and veggie pizza order arrived with NO sausage! I called back to inform and was told to "look carefully under the cheese"! What???Why??? Because the guy who made it said he put sausage on the pizza. SMH. The order taker argued a little, but ultimately stated they'd remake the pizza which finally arrived with sausage...and honestly it was good. For the shear aggravation, we ate 1/4 of the "veggie" pizza before giving it back. Mistakes happen because they're "busy", BUT they fixed it...so I'm good. Basically, it boils down if customer service was just better, they'd probably get that 4th star. Can't say I won't order from UP&B again...they're just not at the top of my list. read more

The roasted chicken dinner is huge, flavorful & juicy. A full chicken, rice &, potato for $12. The guy who took my order, maybe the owner was so sweet and helpful. I can't believe in 18 years that's I've lived in uptown I only found this chicken a month ago. Also got their Greek salad. Again very large portion made fresh in front of me. $8. Uptown Pizza and BBQ is a great example of you get what you pay for. The food is dirt cheap but the quality of the food hasn't always been consistent. The guys at the front counter always seem to make me laugh because they're always seem to be chatting about some random topic. The restaurant is medium size with a few tables if you decide to dine-in but most people get their food and go. I typically order from Uptown Pizza and BBQ whenever I want to have a fattening cheat meal. I've typically only ordered the rip tip dinner because the best bang for your buck. I've had experiences when the rip tip dinner was so delicious that I devoured the whole container and I've had experiences when I just gave the rest to my boyfriend. Even though the food isn't something I'd phone home about, I still love ordering from here. Their delivery service is fairly quick and I can't complain when I'm only spending a little amount of money for a large amount of food. read more

BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE! The biggest issue!!!!! My entire credit card number and expiration date was on the guest check that was delivered to me by the delivery driver. Who knows he might buying stuff on eBay. Don't order from here if you worried about identity theft. I wanted to order to Italian beef meals including fries but they told me for delivery fries could not be included with them a meal and I would have to get an order of fries separate. That makes no sense. Therefore I ordered one Italian beef with provolone and 1 Italian beef with Mozzarella cheese; both dipped with jardinero peppers. And a order of fries which were $2.75. Upon arrival I received 1 Italian beef with cheese, one without and neither dipped. I called the restaurant and they told me that mozzarella and provolone are the same cheese. My response maybe you should not be serving cheese. In addition to the fact that they put apparently both cheeses on one sandwich. The separate fries that I apparently had to order was in the container that one of the Italian beefs were in but apparently they were called a large order of fries. read more
