She ordered the Truffle Mushroom Risotto which she enjoyed. I actually wanted both fries and Caesar salad on the side but there was a miscommunication when I ordered. But I still enjoyed my meal and it was surprisingly filling. I've been to Marlowe around 4 to 5 times. The first few times I was there with my Zumba classmates and had pretty fun nights dancing. The cocktail we ordered could have been better. The peach Bellini was not tasting like cocktail it tasted more like a peach slush. We went for a girl's night out and we ordered calamari and chicken wings as late night snacks last Saturday. The calamari was tasty, fresh and deep fried with a nice crisp! However, the size of the calamari was quite small. The honey garlic chicken wings were good, but a little too sweet for me. The service was excellent and the waitress went out of her way to serve us. She took lovely pictures for us and even cleaned my camera lens as it was probably dirty. She even got us water and left it on our table when we were on the dancefloor. The manager and supervisor came around and checked on us a few times. In fact all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The DJ played some great music and we had a fun girls night out. We are already planning to come for another girl's night out before Christmas!! I can see at the other end of the restaurant that someone was throwing a birthday that had a Dj and everything, music was loud and bumping for sure. Our server came and introduced himself and gave us our menus to look at. Came back within 10 minutes as we knew what we wanted (we came hungry). Ordered fried calamari, seafood linguine, and New York steak. Calamari was good, and fresh, it came with aioli. I got the seafood linguine and it had mussels, scallop, shrimp and calamari. We had a reservation tonight at Marlow restaurant in Richmond Hill, but when we arrived, we were asked to sit at a shared table in the middle of the restaurant with another group! We were expecting a table similar to all the restaurants we go especially since we had made a reservation in advance. What was confusing and disappointing is that the staff said all private tables were reserved even though we also had a reservation and some of them were vacant at that time. That explanation didn't make sense and felt unfair. Another big disappointment was that the restaurant looks nothing like its Instagram page. The space was not stylish or luxurious as advertised online, and the overall atmosphere did not match the image they present on social media at all. I'm surprised for a 2.5 star restaurant, the food was really decent! It wasn't too salty or sweet and the service was great! Came on a Monday evening and it was pretty quiet. I got the truffle rigatoni with chicken. Delicious cream sauce with mushrooms and parmesan. The chicken soaks up all the sauce and the pasta is perfectly al dente. It's a big portion too. The chocolate mousse bomb was surprisingly not too sweet! It was rich and dense with a dark chocolate coating and a thin cake layer at the bottom. It wasn't sweet nor bitter. It was so good! A few weeks back went to Marlowe to celebrate a surprised birthday party. Music and dance floor was what my friends wanted for bday girl. Music doesn't start till 10pm. We arrived there at 7ish and the dinning area was empty! Surprising on a weekend. As the night progress more and more people arrived for drinks. A few more other tables celebrate birthdays. The bar area is a bit confusing, it has TVs like a sports bar. The crowd is really mix from 20s to 50+. Surround the dance floor was these lounge chairs - for ppl watching the dance floor and ordering table service it seems like. They have a long list of wine and drink menu. The food menu seems to be mainly Italian and some odd bistro stuff. I had the salmon risotto and this is the best risotto I ever had I must say. Cooked just right and the fish was nice and seared crispy and not drying inside. The service I must say was a bit odd. Our server was training two other people. And our server kept rushing to takedown our orders for meals and drinks. It was about after 8pm and well the place is still not busy. So I don't quite understand the rush. When we ask how this and that is, server would be "excellent choice" or say "it's okay!" Some changed their minds after asking and some kept their choice. Lol if he said that "it's okay" means bad choice haha we learnt that after the fact. So I made a good choice because mine was "excellent!" Music playlist was a bit confusing. So I assume ppl mostly come here for the drinks, dance and music. This restaurant and wine bar encompasses many things so this is why it's still surviving. It's a one stop place for a fun night. Restaurants don't usually serve Tartufo as dessert and again, it was delicious. There is live band in late evening for those who likes it. I came here due to a good friend's birthday party. Food-2.5/5 I ordered the Prosciutto and Arugula Pizza, not worth the price of $19.99. It did not play with my palate at all. The taste was basic, the balsamic glaze had a nice sweet hint. Prosciutto was a tad bit stale. The texture overall was okay. Although, it was bigger than most personalized pizzas. Drinks-5/5 My friend and I shared a Rośe sangria and that was one of the best sangrias I've ever had. They give you a huge pitcher that can fill 5 and a half glasses of wine approx. We had a social gathering just tonight with family and friends and the atmosphere started as a restaurant feel but became more like a dance club as the dance floor opened up and music got loud and the place became more vibrant. In terms of food it was good but didn't really stand out as we chose from a set menu. Service was good but little slow as staff had to juggle between all the orders. My husband and I took a friend to Marlowes last Friday for lunch. We all decided on fish n chips since the menu said only on Fridays. The waitress ( who never told us her name), took the order and then came back saying there was no fish. 2pm in the afternoon. Noone came to the table to apologize, she just wanted to know what else we'd like to order. She had her hair in long coils, not pinned up or back, that could get in your plate. I came to this venue for Mother's Day and I mainly chose it because they took reservations and the menu looked good. Once seated at our table, we found ourselves waiting for about 5 minutes before someone (not our server) asked if someone had taken care of us. The new server said our server was busy so she would take care of us and give him a table of hers (which I thought was nice). We ordered our food (Mother's Day omelette for my parents and chicken + waffles for me) and did not have to wait too long for the food. My meal came with fries, so I asked for ketchup on the side which my server never brought. I noticed a hostess walking around and asked her for the ketchup, which she brought. I understand it was Mother's Day but this restaurant was not busy so I don't think I should have had to ask twice for ketchup. The chicken and waffles were okay - there was no real seasoning on the chicken so it was kind of plain tasting. Towards the end of the meal, my mom realized that they were given the Marlowe breakfast by mistake. The omelette came with a fruit bowl, and when we brought the mistake to our server's attention, she apologized and brought the fruit bowl for my parents. We have been here a few times for dinner in the past few years and I recalled the food here was alright but nothing too memorable. However, our dinner here a week ago was pretty good, definitely better than before. The place was pretty packed on a Friday night. I heard a staff mentioned that a lot of people were there with Groupons that were expiring soon which might explain why the place was packed. I never got the Groupon for this place as I still had an Entertainment book coupon to use here which was a saving of $15. I know that it's hard to believe that someone still buys the Entertainment book, but it still has some awesome deals. We ordered 3 mains - Shrimp Linguini at $17, Seafood Linguini at $24 and Baby Back Ribs at $28. Everything was delicious and generous portion of shrimp and seafood on the pasta dishes. The seafood included lots of mussels, clams, shrimp and squid. As for the ribs, the portion was huge and the meat was very tasty and tender. All in all, it was a great dinner. I guess this is a good compromise for people who live in Markham or Richmond Hill and don't want to go downtown for that downtown vibe. A few friends and I came here for drinks only. We sat at the bar and ordered. It took a while b/c there seemed to be only one bartender. Now this was around 5:30pm on a weekday - happy hour time. The place didn't start getting packed until about 6:30pm, but there was still one bartender. Ordering took awhile, then of course I was charged incorrectly when I got my bill. I've heard the vibe at night is much better, but to be honest I would rather just drive the 15 min downtown and enjoy myself. The plus is that they do have a space in the back if you want to host a semi private party - it isn't completely cut off from the restaurant so not 100% private, but at least you can have a larger group in the back. Location: 3/5 This place is near East Beaver Creek, in an enclosed area full of other Western/American chains. I am not a fan of how territorial restaurants here seem to be with their parking, because you have to park inside blue designated lots. Decor/Ambience: 4/5 Not an ideal place for a banquet or wedding since the restaurant is sectioned out into long strips of dining areas, but the decor is pretty nice. Since it is a wine bar, there is a clubby music in the background all night long and it gets louder later in the night. Sports fans can rejoice as well with multiple screens lining up the bar. Connecting the three dining areas is a dance floor area, too. Food quality: 3.5/5 We ordered mussels for our appetizer and some of them were empty. I preferred the beer battered mussels at Bier Markt. The one here was served with two slices of garlic bread, tomatoes and greens. My Atlantic salmon was crispy but a bit tough. My fave salmon is still from Ruth Chris though as that was simply divine and mouth-watering. It came with rice and bok choy. Lamb shank came with risotto and fried basil. The meat fell off the bone and was pretty tender. 10oz NY Sirloin steak was well-cooked and juicy. It came along with potato coquette, which added to the dish. Seafood risotto seems to be the best choice of the night. Very sizeable portion and it had a mix of mussels, tiger shrimps, and greens. Everything tasted good, but nothing special until... it was time for dessert. Desserts: 4.5/5 Their cakes are from Cheesecake Factory! Delicious! They were all so yummy!! Service: 5/5 I liked the service here the most. Our server came to refill our hot/cold water frequently and he always gave us a new plate of sliced lemons and limes without being asked! I asked him to remove all butter from my salmon and he got a raspberry vinaigrette on the side for me! I had dinner at Marlowe with a group of friends around the time that they opened, so we had our choice of seats. I suggest calling ahead on a Sunday since their hours aren't posted on their website. They were very accommodating, since my friends had a 1-year old. The wait staff was also very patient, since we spent some time catching up instead of deciding what to order. They were also very attentive at refilling our waters. We decided to start with the spinach and goat cheese dip (free appetizer with Yelp check-in deal). Upon complaint was moved to outdoor heated patio which was fine except that they only had one person serving the whole patio. Brought 1 main dish out before any of the appetizers/drinks. Had to ask them to take it back. Brought one person's appetizer by itself. Brought two ordered drinks but then had to ask multiple times for water. Water brought in pitcher with 6 glasses that appeared to have just come out of the dish washer but not dried at all, and one was still dirty. Then brought all mains before any other appetizers. Sangria came late after mains Mains came staggered. 5 of 6 eating so not getting cold before 6th main came. If your tablesetting is paper, you have some major stones charging over 10 bucks for anything on that menu. Especially when your food tastes like microwaved dinners. Dinner Dining Dancing that was advertised on the outside of their establishment. Guess they wanted to inform everyone they're a supper club, but was dining necessary? First time here (and most likely last time) as I usually don't venture up too far north of the city. Attended a friend's birthday party on Saturday night and apparently lots of other parties happening that night as well, so it seemed like a very happening place. Wines per glass varied from $10.50 to $19 and bottles from $25 and up. I had ordered a bottle of red from Sonoma for $35 which I thought was a bargain considering the pricing of the wine list. The waitress had to come back to confirm my order and when she finally appeared with my bottle I was disappointed it wasn't a full sized bottle but a half sized bottle. Perhaps it was me not reading correctly, but I really didn't see any indication of size except bottle written. Guess it was too good to be true a bottle for $35. It was a decent bottle so I didn't mind too much, but it was definitely not worth the price as I got two glasses out of the bottle. Since we had a large group we had opted for a prix fixe menu for $40 inclusive of tax and tips which was a great deal. Choice of two different salads or a soup for appetizers and choice of steak, fish (tilapia) or pasta for the mains. No desserts, but choice of tea or coffee included. It was okay since we had brought our cupcakes and a cake for the birthday girl. I had the caesar salad which was well presented and tastewise it was flavourful, not too zesty, and bacon topping cooked to a nice crisp. For main dish, I had the steak which came with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. Upon making my first slice into my steak, I noticed it was not pink in colour which you would expect from a medium steak that I had requested. It was definitely overcooked, but I was very hungry and took a bite. After the second bite, I just couldn't stomach it and was hesitant to send the steak back since we already waited a significant time for the mains and I was hungry. Plus it didn't help that my friends were teasing me to not send my dish back or they'll spit in my food. The server was nowhere in sight, so luckily for me the busboy was around and I told him my dilemma and requested a medium steak in exchange for the welldone steak on my plate. By the time I got my steak, most of my friends were done their meal, and one friend didn't even get his main dish yet, so it was quite the wait. My second steak was cooked exactly medium to my liking and the busboy followed up and asked how it was. No sign of our server anywhere and you would expect it was the server's responsibility to ask how the meal was regardless of the situation. Service was a bit sporadic because it was quite busy that night, but when a diner has a wrong food order you would expect them to be more attentive ensuring that everything was okay. One would expect with an establishment that specializes in prix fixe menu with Dinner Dining Dancing advertised, they would have their service down to perfection. The DJ appeared around 10pm and the main dining area was cleared of tables and chairs for the dancing floor. I've been to many supper clubs in Toronto in the past, so know what the protocol is, but Marlowe just doesn't seem to know what they're doing. Dancefloor was busy and the music varied from Spanish, R & B, hip hop and top 40s.....really a mix of everything. Half our group left after the cake cutting, but the remainder of the group stayed and tried to make the most of the night. Considering the location, wine pricing and lack of service, I most likely won't go back. The original Marlowe restaurant located on College Street in Little Italy many many years ago was great and they should have just stuck to the restaurant business. read more

First off I want to say that I went with a group the started with 13 and ballooned up to 20. That being said, they could not handle 20 people. The waiter tried his best but he was just not up to the task at hand. The dancing was good and if you like crowded, then you'll enjoy. Good music all around but the drummer did like one of his instruments a bit too much. The food itself is a subset of the regular menu with large groups. It was very bland all around. This was the second try at this restaurant. The food wasn't amazing but it wasn't horrible. The first time I went we started with the bacon wrapped scallops and I had a seafood risotto and he had the steak. We were with three other couples and it took FOREVER for the waitress to come around. After waiting at least 30 mins we finally ordered, then another 30 minutes our food came. My risotto was missing flavour and you can't really mess up a steak. The second time was last night for my friends birthday. Tony the waiter was FANTASTIC he made everything for the chaotic group work. The food though again was just mediocre. Nothing memorable to be honest, everything just lacked flavour. THEN it turns into a lounge. I must say, if your trying to get the club vibe from downtown you definitely got it. The washrooms were SO DISGUSTING. That was even before while we were having dinner. No toilet paper, apparently women in York region don't understand how to use the facilities correctly and no one I assumed wanted to clean it. This is be the last time I come here. read more
