The end of an era is upon us!! Aperitif is closing and rebranding into Sage and Sea Coastal Kitchen and Bar. Their doors will close on Sunday, July 26th 2026 to begin the transformation. I had to return on Friday, July 24th for the last official Happy Hour! It was bittersweet seeing the staff and the return of my favorite bartender Jay. The placed was packed with patrons like me who wanted to share memories of many good times spent here. The atmosphere and music was festive and the attitudes were as lively as the spirits being poured! In speaking with the staff, their enthusiasm for what lies ahead was infectious! We discussed this new journey and our anticipation of reuniting again to enjoy what the new aesthetic and menu will hold. Wow. Yesterday was my birthday. After work, we went out for dinner. Not everywhere is open for dinner on July 4th but my wife found Aperitif. We looked at some reviews and my uncle had eaten there a number of years ago and said the food was delicious. Was he right. I think it was undersold. Walking in, we were greeted immediately by a very nice hostess. When my wife said our name, the hostess asked whose birthday it was and wished me a very happy birthday. The floor is made of beautiful French tiles. There are the old looking mirrors that you think of when you imagine a French restaurant. We ordered some cocktails and wine. Everything was delicious. I didn't get pics of the appetizers. We ordered the mussels with white wine and garlic, hummus and Brussels sprouts. All were really good. The mussels were some of the best I have ever had. Sweet, fresh mussels, garlicky sauce. So good. There were 7 of us and everyone got something different. Everyone absolutely loved what they had. My mom's scallops were sweet, tender and flavorful. The pork chop was unbelievable. They changed the menu so I don't have the description. Might have been French onion soup. Sooo good. My beef Wellington was delicious. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection, crusted in pistachios and came with greens and au gratin potatoes. Wow. The duck was melt in your mouth tender. We had 4 desserts to share. Chocolate mousse, pecan tart, Nutella crepes and apple bread pudding. They were all absolutely delicious. From the food to the service, everything was top notch. Our waiter and server assistant were great. It was pretty bright and the assistant closed the drapes. The waiter also noticed the table wobbled a tiny bit. He called over the assistant who fixed it immediately. No one had said a word. I can't wait to go back and try more! read more

Came here with a party of 5 for Long Island restaurant week, and had a disappointing time. The restaurant staff seem to be untrained and ill prepared to answer questions about dishes on the menu. I'm unsure if the lack of customer service were due to us looking young, or being dressed in jeans and shirts, or possibly it could be race discrimination. There were a group of African American women celebrating a birthday and the staff sung happy b-day and that was all however I noticed when a Caucasian women was there celebrating her birthday as well they had music playing on the speakers and everything seemed to stopped in the restaurant to sing and celebrate her. During my stay here the waiter didn't ask about our food, which I didn't enjoy, they didn't offer refills on the sodas ordered, they didn't ask if we wanted any other alcoholic drinks after we ordered. We asked for more bread and was never brought any. It was just an overall disappointment. read more

Came to this Bistro for Happy Hour. Our server Jackie, greeted us with a smile and immediately took our drink orders. I opted for a pomegranate margarita and it was good and drink #2 Midnight in Paris was even better! I wanted to taste almost everything on the happy hour menu! Everything was filling and very tasty! The margherita pizza had a basil sauce drizzled over it and it was mouth watering. The salmon bites were covered in a sweet Thai Chill sauce which made it nice and moist. I had my daughters bridal shower there a few weeks ago. The woman I dealt with mislead me for months than rudely told me a week prior to the party of I didn't like it I can get my deposit back( 1 week ahead of the party. What should have been an excited happy time it was not. They say one thing and do another. I've had many parties with no trouble this was very disappointing. They didn't even do the set up properly after we drew it, verbally said it still it was no where near what was discussed leaving me less time to decorate! Just an all around unhappy experience. As one of the few true French restaurants in our area, this place stands out on so many levels. The staff is attentive and wonderful, from the hostess, to the bartenders, to the waitstaff, right up to the head chef. The restaurant is large enough to support a large gathering, yet intimate for the perfect date night. There's also a great outdoor patio that doesn't get hit directly by the sun, so it's quite comfortable. As far as the good stuff is concerned, they know how to make a cocktail and the list is pretty extensive (other than wines by the glass). Our Brie appetizer (a special for the evening) was incredibly tasty and the beef Wellington I had as delicious. Slightly overcooked so maybe order one level down, but delicious nonetheless. We will definitely be back and I can't wait for my next meal here! read more

This used to be one of my favorite places to dine but that has changed. The waiter that helped us wasn't very friendly whatsoever. There was a very loud party right by the bar area which was extremely obnoxious to have to listen to during our entire experience. Although the food was delicious, the bus boys (men) and hostess were exceptional, the waiter and the party made our experience awful. In addition, we all almost fell asleep because the lighting was way too dim. Unfortunately, if that's just the waiter's personality, it was extremely off-putting. The four of us started at the bar. Aperitif has an excellent wine selection and my Rhône Valley red was full bodied, dry, and bold. I should have ordered cheese with this. Our bartender followed us to our table to continue our orders. The sole with capers was delicate and delicious and the mashed potatoes were delicious and not too rich. There was dining outside in the back and the service was excellent. One copatron enjoyed her red and white wine flight, and the rest of use enjoyed our Grenache/ Rhône and Sauvignon Blanc/ Sancerre wines. They make great espresso and coffee as well. read more

It's been at least 5 years since I been at Aperitif Bistro, my wife and I wanted to try a different restaurant as we mostly stay to a few regular places in RVC and Oceanside. I looked at the reviews for Aperitif and to my surprise there were many negative reviews regarding the service and food, I liked the menu so my wife and I said let's give it a try, I must say the service and food was excellent, our servers name was Jamal, he was very attentive to our table and the food was served at the perfect pace, I don't like to be rushed, Jamal took our drink orders, which came very quickly, we then ordered our appetizer's and weren't sure what we wanted for our main dishes, unlike other restaurants he didn't rush us, when we were done with our apps we orders a main dish which we split as the apps were plentiful, we order desert and coffee. This one of our go to places on a Saturday night. It is relatively quiet, nicely decorated and the service is good. The drinks are very good, although they raised their prices and are now expensive. The food never disappoints. We've never had a bad experience there. In fact, we threw a party there for my husband's birthday and they went over and beyond what they had to do. read more

'I' is the Incredible feeling of no regrets for walking in as a solo foodie to Indulge in greatness! 'F' is for the Fantastic Fall-Off the bone perfectly cooked and executed Braised Short Rib entree. Technically the name of the restaurant Aperitif probably translates to "an alcoholic drink taken before a meal to stimulate the appetite", so in my opinion don't deny yourself! I started off the evening with ordering their "Lot 96 Petite Sirah" to pair with my first and second courses of their Charred Brussels Spouts appetizer and the Braised Short Rib entree. Many might pass on a Brussel Sprouts appetizer, but I will be the first to tell you that you are truly missing out. Executed to absolute perfection, they were roasted to give the sprouts a soft but crisp texture, tossed with a maple syrup and almonds. Brava for Brussels Spouts, why aren't we all doing this at home. If we did I think anyone would eat them. No 'Socks' here :p just tasty greatness! Then came the Braised Short Rib entree. Can you say one of the most epic displays of true culinary perfection that I had the pleasure to digest here on Long Island, NY! Can you say Michelin Star worthy hands down, hence my 5 stars. Just one touch of a fork and the meat slid right off the bone. The cleanest bone EVER had on a platter of mine dining, not one morsel left behind. The juicy, tenderness of every mouthwatering bite of protein dressed with a thyme Au Jus, was dancing across the tongue with each fork fill. Mixing it with their mash potatoes and veggie medley just gave it that homey feel we all strive to have, but many times only get during a holiday meal. Finished my restaurant week solo adventure with their Profiteroles dessert selection. Selected this because I was so full from the first two courses couldn't even assure I was going to have room for the trio, so thought it best to go with something that was going to hopefully be soft and airy. This wasn't what I expected as it was more of a frozen creme of some kind sandwiched between a chocolate drizzled pastry puff. Indeed still very good, but more filling than expected so had to rush the second one home and refreeze in the hopes of a reminder bite of a great meal had the previous day. All in all one of the most decadent meals I have had in some time. The chefs at this location during such a changing COVID 2020 year should all be awarded for still preparing and serving up the great level of food, for such a great value. Many thanks to the wait staff, runners and crew that delivered a five star experience. This wasn't out first choice, but glad it was the choice for the evening. There wasn't parking available on the Saturday night, but valet was available so that made it easy. The Maitre'D was pleasant and welcoming. He always checked to see if we were enjoying our meal and if everything was okay. Our server John, was funny, delightful and served good drinks. We had the Blue Point Oysters, which were fresh, big and soooo good. For drinks, we had the Cherry Gotham and Aperitif old fashioned, strong and good. For entrees, beef Wellington (medium well) juicy and tasty and the pistachio lamb chops (medium) was also delicious. For dessert we had the crepes suzette with French coffee and a Tia Maria. This restaurant group is one of my wife's favorite. They used to have four french restaurants, including Sage Bistro in Bellmore. They currently have two according to their placemats. It was the day of the Superbowl, so there was plenty of parking and no one was in the place. The oysters were good. If you have been to the others in the group, they are always the same. For my meal, I had the salmon. It is always a nice meal. Full of flavor and nicely paired with the sides. The place was clean. The staff was friendly. There was parking, but I am unsure how much is available at a busier time. The food is good. The windows open onto a main road, so I don't think I would enjoy that. I went here with a friend after many failed attempts to find a socially distanced restaurant in RVC. Aperitif fortunately does follow the protocol and we opted for a booth seat. I got the French dip but opted for it with steak versus the chicken that it came with. It was a $6 surcharge but that was fine with me as I can't fathom a chicken French Dip lol. The steak was cooked at a solid medium rare. I really liked my espresso martini too but I think it could've been mixed a little better. It was a great experience, we were very well taken care of by Alejandra (the events coordinator), bartender, and servers. Food was delicious. We did open bar (beer/wine) for two hours, which was well worth it. Had a cake delivered there & they took care of cake-cutting etc. Would definitely recommend for a private event. I apologize for not writing this review earlier, but I did have the complete honor and privilege to Dine here this past Sunday, March 3, 2024. From start to finish it was perfect. I am in the Restaurant business and have been for the past 35 years. To be quite honest it is really hard for any establishment to float my boat, especially in this day and age. As Server Jamal was phenomenal, very professional, and understanding. I arrived with a Guest a bit late for a Sunday evening and still was treated like royalty. The Chef even came out to adhere to some requests which I found simply unparalleled. From start to finish it was an epic journey of culinary perfection and straight-out perfect Hospitality. Aperitif really let me down on Friday night while celebrating my bridal dinner. We were a group of 9 women ready to have a great night and although the food was very good the service was just absolutely terrible. I have been to this restaurant many times over the years and always have been impressed with not only the food but attention to detail but clearly things have gone down hill. Not only was it not the crowded so I anticipated some great service but it seemed like the support staff was ready to go. It first started with our waiter rushing to get our drink orders in which then once we got them not giving us a moment to look at the menu. Once he realized we were going to need some time it was like he never wanted to wait on us again. By the end of the night it was so bad that we had to ask multiple servers and what I would guess was the manager for help as well. We ended up having to bring the check up to the bar ourselves where the staff was standing around. During the meal we also asked for some photos to be taken, they were all terrible and I'm not asking for works of art but just a little pride in a group photo would be nice. Our bill was hundreds of dollars and I am just so sad I chose that place for my special night. Disappointing night! read more

I recently came to this restaurant with a group of 6 people (3 couples). We made reservations in advance for a saturday evening dinner. Once we were seated, we started out by ordering some drinks and appetizers. I ordered a beer and my girlfriend ordered some red sangria. We then ordered a bunch of appetizers to split amongst the table. The grilled calamari and zucchini pancakes were very good. These were my favorite appetizers that we had. After a few more drinks and chatting for awhile, we then placed our dinner orders. My girlfriend and I ordered 2 different meals, and decided to split them. We ordered the beef wellington and the grilled lamb chops. I must say the beef wellington was excellent. It was cooked medium and was perfect. I loved it. The lamb chops were just average honestly. Nothing special or great about them. I liked that this restaurant did not try to rush you out of your seats, as they let you just relax and talk with everyone you are seated with. Headed for our favorite RVC Happy Hour Hangout to celebrate Valentine's Day. The usual Happy Hour Chalkboard was on display outside at the entrance. We were a little earlier than usual to beat the VD crowd. We grabbed two seats at the bar and made ourselves comfortable. One of the bartenders came over to inform us that there was NO HAPPY HOUR TONIGHT! When we asked why, they said that we should speak to "Management". So I'm speaking to 'Management" now. Did you consciously decide to screw over your regular Happy Hour Crowd, or was screwing us over for an extra $50 just an accidental bonus? Since it was Valentine's Day, my lovely wife and I were not about to start roaming around town for an alternate location (Part of your plan, no doubt). So we stayed and we had a good time. Of course the other Happy Hour denizens were disgruntled as well. So thank you for leaving a bad taste in our mouths as you squeezed some extra money out of loyal customers - - but at what cost? I, for one, can tell you what that cost is - I will not be returning to Aperitif any time soon - Happy Hour or otherwise. read more
