    Complimentary pita
    Kerri B.

I love supporting a small business, and I try to tolerate nonsense but yesterday we walked out. Spoiler alert: their $25 deep dish pizza is focaccia bread! First, I will say we enjoyed the complimentary pita and tzatziki. Plus, our server was nice, and the inside looks beautiful with the hanging lights. We were intrigued about their only NY Deep Dish Pizza brag, so we decided to try it. It will cost you $25 without toppings. 35 min later, we still have no food. I got up to look for a server and there is not a person in sight, a door swung open and there were all the servers hanging in the kitchen, I'm assuming waiting on orders. The owner walked by and we were going to talk to him about the service, he looked at us with a big thumbs up smile and spun around and disappeared. The server finally shows up and the garlic knots and pizza arrive. It's a plain pizza; we asked if this was the one we ordered and he picked it up and disappeared (we ordered toppings). I left at this point bc my parking meter was almost up and my tolerance meter expired. They comped the garlic knots and didn't charge us for the toppings and gave an apology. As for the pizza, this is NOT deep dish pizza, it's a flavorless focaccia bread with light sauce and light cheese (plus toppings). Deep Dish is hollow with a pastry crust and filled with cheese and sauce. Don't let Chicago see this pizza. The garlic knots and ambiance raised the extra star.

We were in the area and stopped by for a bite. This place was inviting and had a great selection of healthy options. I had a house salad with grilled chicken. I never thought of serving spinach warmed but it works! Ambiance-wise, this place has a bit of a cozy intimate vibe to it.

They have beer and wine, but also BYOB

Joey Z has a huge Mediterranean inspired menu ranging from Greek to Italian. The service was super friendly and fast. They offer beer and wine, as well as BYOB at no additional charge. They brought complimentary pita bread for the table, which was good. The main dish was ok, but I would definitely come back to try more menu items. The inside is small and cozy, good for family dinner or a date.

Consistently excellent food keeps us coming back! I love that' it's small, quiet, intimate dining area. Perfect for a date night or a nice dinner having conversation with friends. Service is always very attentive and friendly. And the diversity of the menu is sublime. Tonight I had the eggplant, stuffed with feta and spinach topped with tomato sauce and mozzarella. Dessert I had the Floridian crepe, which is fresh strawberries and cream cheese. Just fantastic! Joey knows what he's doing!

I have been here a handful of times, but I'd like to come back for their breakfast and fondue. Their service is good here. The servers are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. I came for lunch once and sat outside since I had my dog. The server gave my dog a water bowl and some bread. That was very thoughtful. I've had lunches and dinners here and will say that the food is not bad, and not spectacular. It can be a bit on the pricey side. The interior of the restaurant is a bit lacking, and they seem to have kept the Christmas decorations up for years. I don't mind it much, but I did think it was odd. During this visit, we came for dinner and had: - chicken gyro with onion rings - hummus - pureed chick peas, olive oil, lemon juice and garlic. Garnished with cucumbers and tomatoes with pita bread - sesame filet mignon stir fry - with green and red peppers, onions, broccoli, sesame sauce. Served with basmati rice. The food was good, and hit the spot. I do plan to come back and try other things on their menu.

A quaint, quiet, intimate restaurant in the heart of Port Jeff. With an eclectic menu, with such unique items, you can't go wrong with this spot. It works really well. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. I got to speak to Joey Z the owner who was super friendly and had great recommendations. He was very helpful when it came to what I should order. I got the croissant French toast with bananas, and it was really delicious. My Uncle is a local and frequents the spot and gets the pancakes rolletini; It's his favorite. My husband got the bowl with eggs, he said it was delicious. If you want a quaint local spot, this is the place to try. It's small so make sure you get there early if you plan to go on the weekends, it did get a bit crowded.

Limited beer selection would be the only thing I would change but you can find something that works. Wine selection is decent. The restaurant was packed, but people were also finishing up their meals so we gave it a shot. We were able to sit outside and the outside dining area was set up really nice and comfortable with bistro lighting and even some potted palm trees. Felt more like San Diego than Port Jefferson. Inside was also tastefully done up in the nautical theme which is good to know if it's a rainy day or in the colder weather. I've read some reviews about the service and we had the exact opposite with super attentive service. Our server, Brianna came over right away and took our order in no time. I mentioned doing a dish gluten free and she asked if I had celiac. She went above and beyond making sure that my meal would be safe to eat and offered substitutions so there would be no cross contamination. I've had the condition for 18 years so I know pretty well what I can tolerate and that most places let you down and I just deal with it. That wasn't the case at all here and Brianna made sure of it. We started off with the spinach artichoke dip and this was one of the best versions I ever had. Like in the top 3 really and one the other two was home made. It was that good. I had plenty of carrots and celery to nosh on with the dip and they kept the bread on a separate plate altogether. Like I said, they really understood my condition I also had bariatric surgery back in the winter and I'm slowly venturing out in the world of solid food. So I picked the surf and turf steak and lobster sandwich. I figured I know I can handle steak if done right and I wouldn't be too bummed if I couldn't tolerate the lobster. Brianna had it served to me on a really good gluten free bun. This sandwich really worked out so much better than I thought it would. The steak was exactly to order and the lobster was super tender. I was only able to have maybe a fifth to a quarter of it. That's equally because that's all I can physically have these days and because the sandwich was beyond huge. The rest of the family's choices were home runs too and included a killer wedge salad, a perfectly cooked burger and salmon. Those were devoured so no complaints with those as well. It should be noted by the reactions by everyone at the adjacent tables were having a very similar experience and it was just a really enjoyable time. Our family is getting older (aren't we all), so diners and moments like this are so special. Castaways definitely held up its end of the bargain. I'm so glad we stopped in, and I can't wait to stop back the next time we're down port.

By far and away the worst I've experienced. I took away a star for this reason. The new spot aesthetically is just okay. We ordered fried calamari as appetizers and a zuppa di pesce - while zuppa is translated as soup in English, the dish is closer to what may be considered a fish stew. In addition to the fried calamari we also ordered a large salad that we split. Cova is a unique restaurant that serves dinner in a family-style format. This means that the entrees are designed to be shared between two or four people. While the food is excellent, for a hungry person, the amount per serving is not worth the price. Unfortunately, the cappuccino maker was not in service, so I ordered a regular cup of decaffeinated coffee. Regrettably, the coffee was not to my liking. The Takeaways: 1. The food is very tasty. 2. The coffee is not good. 3. The price to portion ration is poor. 4. Parking is ample. 5. Make reservations.

They did bring me plain bread with homemade butter which was delicious! I chose the chicken spring rolls that came with a mango type sipping sauce as my appetizer. Outstanding, I can't say enough about how delicious the spring rolls are. Filled to the brim with a filling loaded with chicken! I was so tempted to order another serving but I wanted to save room for dinner. I absolutely will next time! Unlike many restaurants, at Fifth Season,, you can choose other side dishes if you're not happy with what your dish is served with as noted on the menu! I wanted the chicken but chose the coconut rice and organic carrots as my sides instead and I have to say, its a MUST for you to try as well. The flavor of each is so perfect, the rice is like a risotto consistency but hard to explain. Just trust me on this, over the top delicious! The chicken was very tasty and flavorful, just needed a little more sauce (that's my liking though! I love lots of extra sauce on my food), but I highly recommend trying this dish!
