Had a wonderful experience here this morning! From the food, to the service to the cleanliness of the restaurant, this place is amazing. Our breakfast was delicious - fluffy peach pancakes for me and banana nut for him, over-medium eggs that were spot on and bacon that was the absolute perfect intersection of crispy-chewy. Jeffrey, our server, was knowledgeable, attentive, efficient, and extremely pleasant. Joeys has been around awhile and it still has that local diner look to it. But there was no "old shabby diner" feel - someone has taken very good care of this restaurant. It's clean, bright, and cheerful. We were looking to have breakfast for lunch lol! So we left Sylva and proceeded to find a good place. We did, but it is difficult to find parking for a 30 ft. RV and Freckles the Dalmatian. We always try to park somewhere safe and we can keep an eye on her. On top of that it was pouring this morning. So we decided to go to Joey's because they always have adequate parking. They are open until 2:00. So we got there and there was about a 20 minute wait. The staff is quite efficient and before we knew it we were seated in the last booth by the bathrooms. Hence the 4 stars instead of 5. Only because there were a lot of open tables. Kaidan was our friendly and expert server. He brought us hot steaming coffee then biscuits with butter. Of course the twins ( David and I) ordered the same dish! We got western omelets that were filled with lots of fresh peppers, onions, cheese and ham. There was even a beautiful slice of a red tomato. We also got the baked apples which were absolutely delicious. There was so much food that I was able to make a little doggie bag for Freckles! Absolutely phenomenal. No wonder they were rated one of the top restaurants in the southeast, and that's not just for breakfast places. This place does everything right! If anyone reading this wants to open a restaurant, I would highly recommend studying this place. Let's get to the good stuff. I was told I would have a 30-minute wait, and that's just for one--I always travel solo on a poker trip. Well ... almost any trip. Anyway, I explored the grounds and I found a large lawn, a creek, a bridge over that creek, a fake mill (I think it was fake), and three little birds (they were not at my doorstep). After this pleasant exploration that brought great peace and even the idea of moving to Maggie Valley to be closer to poker (and a pancake house), I was called in. The super friendly lady that checked me in told me it would be worth the wait. She was not wrong. So, check this out. Two big pancakes, perfectly cooked dry scrambled eggs as I ordered them, and the best bacon I have ever tasted was a total of around $15 before tax. That's a pretty good deal, especially for one of the best breakfast experiences of your life. My waitress was also superb. I won't mention a name because now that I stopped writing books and this is my writing outlet, some have jumped over and each Google review is getting 10k-100k views (not talking about photos, actual reviews). And then people speculate. I'm going to avoid all that drama. I might have made one mistake with my meal, but it depends how you view it. I went with the super healthy syrup. It's not called Super Healthy Syrup, but that's how I viewed it. I'm a gym rat and I don't eat heavy at all but I sure don't like boring. The pancakes themselves were excellent but I chose the wrong syrup. Now I know to go with the chemically-enhanced version. It's the rebel in me. Gotta do it. Last thing: atmosphere is amazing. Check in was orderly. You walked up into a holding area where someone took your party number and put you in queue. Weather was nice so we had the choice to sit outside or in the holding area. We were sat fairly quickly. Helpful tip : if you order house specials and decide to upgrade to fancy pancakes, you can have two different pancakes! Their syrup is brought to the table nice and warm! I got the house special with sausage. Went with the poppyseed pancake and the seasonal (whixh apparently was strawberry). I had my eggs scrambled. Pancakes were great! We stopped at one of our favorite breakfast places while in the mountains, Joey's Pancake House. Greg was our server and he was awesome. The pancake of the day, PEACH. OH MY GOODNESS. I had the House Special with two eggs, bacon, and two pancakes. My husband had the special with corned beef hash. He also added the hashbrown casserole. Both were so delicious. The peach pancakes with fresh peaches were over the top delicious. The corned beef hash was crispy and yummy. The hashbrown casserole was creamy and yummy. Every single thing we ate was SO delicious. Heard about this place while visiting Maggie Valley. Went for breakfast around 9am on a Thursday and it was packed. It was about a 20 minute wait for a party of two which we were fine with - they send you a text when your table's ready and you have 5 minutes to return to the host. The lady up front was very warm and welcoming. Our waiter knew the ins and outs of the menu and described everything perfectly. I got the two pancakes and two strips of bacon and it was delicious. Stopped by the little gift shop before leaving and picked up a few postcards. I loved the overall vibe and how hometown-y it felt. I will definitely be coming back next time I'm in town. read more

In town for the week from Florida with my wife and MIL, who has been here several times over the years. Last two years we've been up during summer and the wait was too long for our larger party. Thankful that we are here off season and had only a 3 minute wait! First of all, the charm of this place is something else! From the wooden booths with big cushions, to the gingham curtains and old-timey feel it's just amazing and welcoming. Then add the friendliness of the staff (Howard was our server), and this place wins several points. There's also a great little shopping area near the register, full of all kinds of Joey's merchandise to take home. Then you get to the variety of options and the actual food itself. Wow!!! I always get a veggie omelette when I go to breakfast places and this one -- and with all that comes with it -- hands down, the best breakfast I've had while eating out! The omelette itself was delicious and had amazing, fresh veggies packed inside and out. It was moist and flavorful. It came with a salsa on the side that was so fresh and tasty, that I ate some by itself as I don't prefer things like that on my eggs. The most amazing biscuit was included as well, along with a choice of grits or an up charge to their hash brown casserole, which is what I chose. Wow, delicious!! (Get the original if you don't like spicy). My wife got the Tuscan omelette and gave me her grits, and they were so creamy and packed with buttery flavor even before I added a little maple syrup to them! Finally, my MIL got eggs and two pancakes, one she shared with my wife and I -- again, paying an up charge for a small bottle of their maple syrup (much like you'd get at Cracker Barrel, but local and fresh). It was big, fluffy, and had a great flavor! As I mentioned, Howard was our server and we had great conversation with him. He recommended a couple of great dinner options around the area we hadn't considered, and we heard him recommend other touristy stops to make to another couple nearby. Be prepared to pay a few bucks for the up charges, but to me they were worth it to make this such an amazing meal. You'd think that the staff here were putting some kind of drug in the food. First of all the whole place and staff work very cohesively to get everything done for the customer. They deal with the large crowds really efficiently given the size of the restaurant. The waitress we had was really kind and gave personal recommendations and checked in on us during the middle of the meal, the only issue is I couldn't talk much because I was eating the best pancakes of my life. These pancakes are worth any amount of driving or wait and even if it took 6 hours to get them I'd be happy. We had heard from The Many who toasted JPH. YES! It is an excellent breakfast gathering for campers and locals. Decor is good and promotes local highlights: mountains and elk. Service is good once seated. The two seaters are tight and should be for singles only. WiFi was excellent and with computer in hand was grateful for the extra space of a 4-seater. I ordered the 2+2+ ham house special. It was just the biggest ham slice ever and never made it to the doggie bag. The pancakes were 1st class- warm plate, real warm syrup, with butter and VERY tasty. The eggs came as ordered (over easy) but nothing special there. A very filling balanced meal- thank you. My wife had a western omelette that was excellent. I was jealous of the additional flavors but she liked my ham. Choices. . . !! Sharing is a couples thing. Our service was real good. The ladies are attentive and professional. But the out front hostess seemed clueless about availability. There were many empty seats while we awaited our seating call to come inside. Her role as a greeter though, coming and going, is a friendly reminder of hospitality past. It slows us down so that we are prepared to BREAK the FAST. The bathrooms were clean and void of oders. The ladies I came around repeatedly filling my coffee cup, they were great. The waitress had trouble getting her order. She was very busy even though it was well after two on a Sunday. After the breakfast rush. We couldn't decide what to order. I finally decided on the Tuscan omelette, which was actually very good, except it arrived cold. I was so hungry I didn't and I didn't wanna complain. I just started eating. Funny it was the first thing that came to the table. A cold omelette. The next thing that came to the table was my friend side dish. I can't remember if the biscuits arrived after that or my friends massive omelette. My friend ordered the southwestern omelette and repeatedly told the waitress she wanted it well done even burnt. She also requested egg whites. She was charged $3.95 extra for the up charge of only White. When her omelette finally arrived, it was massive. The strangest thing is that it was decorated with a drizzle of what we could only figure out was balsamic vinegar glaze. It was not listed at all in the menu. All I could say is definitely order pancakes there. Or the Tuscan omelette. My friend didn't eat any of our omelette. We ended up bringing it back to Asheville and in the end, throwing it away. If I were her, I would've refused to pay for it. Again, five stars for the lady that kept coming around and filling my coffee cup. I waitress for many years and breakfast restaurants. An omelette shouldn't arrive cold. All the items should not have arrived separately. Our omelettes were ordered at the same time yet arrived at least five minutes apart. The wait staff is on point always. Some a full time some are part time, but all are easy going and provide service with a smile. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. Stopped here with my fiancé before our long trip back home and was blown away by the food and outstanding service. What can I say, the hype is truly worth it. Our party of 4 arrived there at 12:30pm, a half hour before Joey's 1pm closing. There was still a line of patrons waiting for tables. The hostess was full of southern hospitality and told me not to worry, that they take patrons until 1pm, so we were ok. She said it would be about a 1/2 hour wait, but it was only about 20 mins. Let me say, that it was WORTH the wait! Everything we ordered was delicious. The pancakes are no lie, the fluffiest! I ordered the candy pecan pancakes with a two scrambled eggs and bacon! The bacon was cooked exactly how I like it! Nice and crispy My sons loved the original and chocolate chip pancakes. My husband ordered the seasonal strawberry pancakes. When the pancakes first arrived to the table, it seems like they only have a little bit of each topping on them, but when you separate the pancakes from each other, you can see they have plenty of whatever topping you ordered. Lastly we ordered a side of the Western Hashbrown casserole (extra cheese, onions, and red/green peppers). We we love original HBC, and make it all the time at home, but the Western HBC was a nice surprise to the tastebuds.
