I was driving by the area of their restaurant and was hungry so I stopped in. The outside is very sketchy and run down looking, while the inside is surprisingly very nice and classy classic italian theme. I picked two random things from their display and they were cheap and tasted good- I took many brochures to hand out back at the dorms. *** I ordered from Joey's with a friend probably a week ago and the delivery man came early and gave us our food, and it was good. *** Tonight I ordered a gyro and a stromboli: I got a call a few minutes after I placed my order saying they "ran out of bread to make gyros"... I was really disappointed but ordered a caesar salad in its place. They told me it'd be about 45 minutes until I got my food. About 40 minutes later I got a phone call from someone who could hardly speak english saying they had my order so I hung up and ran out front of my dorm and no one was there. I waited for 5 minutes and even went to the back entrance, no one was in sight. I called the delivery man back and through his terrible english I managed to figure out he was lost. I told him my address again and he said "okay hold on a second" then hung up on me. I waited for another ten minutes and never got a phone call back. I called the restaurant and told them I believe their delivery man is lost: the man who answered the phone was very rude and told me "yes, we know, he is coming back to the restaurant because he can't find it- and I will deliver it" (also in very poor english). At this I was pretty upset... not only did no one call me to let me know what was going on, but now my food was going to be even more late AND cold/soggy.... the man on the phone did not apologize and he did not offer to make it right in any way. Fast forward to me waiting senselessly for another 15 minutes and calling the restaurant AGAIN (because no one felt it was necessary to tell the paying customer who was waiting in the rain what was going on), and a girl answered the phone and I was demanding to know how the company was going to make this right and she had no idea what was going on at all but offered to take my name and number and "have someone call me back". More time elapses and I get a phone call from that same rude man I talked to earlier, and in broken english he tells me he can't figure out how to get to my address. I told him in explicit detail how to get there (very simple directions) and then he cries out "I have to get out of my car and walk?!". Mind you, within the hour of my life I wasted waiting for my food I saw at least four delivery men come up and leave food ordered from various people at my dorm. I walk around the dorm and waited in the rain for the delivery man to finally make his way up the sidewalk. My first question was calm and simple, "how are you going to make this right?"... and he actually had the audacity to make it my problem and tell me I am the reason they couldn't find it- how dare I ask them to find such a location... and he continued to wave his hands and talk at me very disrespectfully; I was an inch from giving it back to him. Finally he said "fine! just take it for free" as he shoved it at me, and then exclaimed it didn't matter anyhow because the business was shutting down for good tomorrow anyhow. I have never been treated so badly by a restaurant in the United States in my life. I was blown away with the amount of disrespect and lack of customer service. If they are legitimately shutting down I can understand why!! read more

Joey's Pizza is your standard American pizza joint that you grew up with. I've been there about 6 or 7 times so far with my fiance's family and it's very consistent. Yeah, it's good on a Sunday night when you don't want to cook. Yeah, it's going to be a people pleaser, but it isn't going to wow anyone. I don't want to say I dislike Joey's - that's not the case. It's perfectly fine. On a bell curve, it would be right towards the middle. It's just that Joey's isn't exceptional. Get an XL pizza of the works, it's pretty good. Every time I go to Joeys Pizza I have a good experience. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. There's always a game on the TV which usually leads to conversation with the employees. I think your place is amazing and your food is great. But... Joey, you don't have a website or email for me to contact you directly so this is the only way I can write a message to you. I live a mile and a half from your store, you know me, we BS when I pick up my orders and as you know I mentioned that I get door dash from you 3 times per week. I know you are going through rough times and you told me your overhead is about $700 per day. Look, I am a small business owner myself so I understand you need to do what you think is best for you. You had free delivery and great food, tonight I log onto DoorDash and see a $3 delivery charge. Bro, this left such a bad taste in my mouth I can't resign myself to patronize you any longer with a delivery fee. I ordered from Michelangelo's pizza which is free delivery over $15 instead. My total with door dash tip is $22 rather then $29. Right now that $7 means a lot to people. I implore you to remove this fee so that I can once again become a loyal customer. Came at worst time of day - late afternoon - for a few slices. Surprised how food they were as old as they looked, but that was on me. This time of day they only had plain slices and would add whatever you like. Got mushrooms. They were canned! I get it, but not too far from mushroom capital if the world. Getting worse. This once great establishment continues to go downhill. Stale bread and dough is the order of the day! I got a cheesesteak hoagie which back in the day under original management was to die for...now its made cheaply, with correct rolls, but sadly bread so stale it crumbled when I ate it. Tomatoes sliced deli thin and mushy, a sprinkle of grated lettuce and the cheesesteak itself still decent with fried onions. One might better travel down the road to John's in west Frazer to get the real deal. This same hoagie at John's is a 5 star! Our family eats here at least once a week and there's a good reason for that! This is BY FAR the best pizza place I have ever eaten at. And believe me, my father and I are huge pizza fans. We have tried practically every pizza place in Chester County and no other place compares. This is mainly due to their Lebanese pizza style which is unlike any other pizza place I have tried. Also they are such a reliable restaurant. Whenever I order a pizza, they tell me a specific time that it will be done. When I get to the place, it is ALWAYS ready. No further waiting! But it's not just their amazing pizza, it's there Stromboli's, their Cheesesteaks and all their other food. But most importantly, their service. The men and women who work at this restaurant are ALWAYS super welcoming and appreciative that you chose their restaurant to eat at. Also the restaurant is in a great location, right off of business 30 in Thorndale. My only complaint is: why aren't more people eating here??? read more

We've been ordering from this place for years and they have gone downhill. Ask a question about something on the menu or order something off the menu they "no longer offer" and the staff gets aggressive. They have messed up my order several times. This most recent time they did not put bacon on the turkey club. Can't say I want to order from them anymore. So disappointed. read more

We love Joey's Pizza in Thorndale. They are a staple on our regular take out schedule. The white pizza is by far the best I've ever had. Cheesesteaks and Stromboli are also a household favorite. The salads are also excellent. Joeys is almost always packed around dinner time so I always call my order in and then go pick it up. The beer selection is surprisingly good for a pizza place but the beer is a bit on the pricy side. The staff are friendly and everyone is always working hard in there. NOT WHAT IT USE TO BE! Sadly this place has gone downhill since Joey retired. 3 of my last 4 visits left me cold and I'm done playing russian roulette with the food quality here. My last pizza was stale/ frozen dough and not cooked enough and the cheesesteak was precooked ( not cooked to order) on the grill served up on a stale roll...nothing at all like his relatives fare (John's) just down the road in Frazer or the delcious steaks Joey served up for decades before retiring. The new guys swore they wouldnt change things... but they did..be forewarned, this isn't what it use to be. just picked up two sandwiches, a cheese steak and chicken cheese steak; pretty simple in most places, evidently not so at joey's...the bread was awful, crusty and hard on the ends. Called to just let them know that they were serving stale bread and they put the "person in charge" on the phone. Rather than apologizing, he argued with me and told me how i wouldn't find a fresher bread in a ten mile radius. I am in the food business and i know when a customer complains, you don't argue with him...i even told him i didn't want anything in return but was just calling to let them know and he still argued with me. Will never go here again despite it being right across the street from me. I should also mention, i get completely different service as a male as to opposed to when i have my wife with me.
