We weren't starving so we decided to split the hamburger steak with mushrooms and gravy. So glad we did. It was huge. The meat was fresh ground and hand formed. Homemade pies are the stand-out. Otherwise fairly middling. New wood paneling added a few years ago, but the ambience is minimal. The bathrooms are tiny and in need of updating. Not accessible; there's a step up inside the foyer. The foyer does reduce the effect of the weather, and there's seating if there's a wait. A sign boasts of on-site roasted turkey and roast beef. We went for an early morning breakfast and it was wonderful! There was only one other group and we got quick service. The biscuits and gravy were very good, very filling and just a bit spicy. The portions are pretty big so if you don't want a lot try sharing. There had just about everything you might have for breakfast. From cereal, to muffins, to French toast and omelettes. So, when we arrived it seemed like something was going on with the staff. The server seemed extremely mad at someone. She was ok with us but seemed to make no attempts at hiding her annoyance with a coworker. Anyway, as time passed her mood got better and so did our experience. The food is great, not pricey. Stopped this place for lunch. Had classic burger with fries. Portions were huge, but nothing special about it. Breads were soggy, too much cheese and presentation was horrible (see my picture). Literally they cooked and dumped into the plate, without even closing the burger with bread. Was not impressed. read more

While I lived in Upstate NY, I loved John and Sarah's. I frequently went on Fridays for their fish fry, but I always upgraded to the Captain's Platter. It has clam strips, scallops, shrimp and fish, all fried to perfection. This, in my opinion, is the best thing on the menu. Their breakfasts are decent and their sandwiches and burgers are pretty good, but their fish fry and Captain's Platter were the best I'd had, and I am bit of a seafood connoisseur. read more

The food here was terrible. I ordered a chicken parmigiana and the chicken parmigiana was so hard it could not be cut with a knife. I have never experience anything like this in my life! Chicken wings were half cooked. Chicken quesadillas were horrendous-deep fried and oily. The cheddar broccoli was extremely salty. Kids spaghetti and meatballs had no taste. Tried to place a pickup order twice. The first time they asked me to hold. I waited 10 minutes before hanging up. The second time, the less than friendly person that answered told me I would have to hold and then hung up on me. If you're hungry, or should I say starving, leaving Letchworth State Park then this is the place you need to stop at. John & Sarah's is only a few miles out of Letchworth in the small town of Perry. They serve breakfast all day and also have a wide selection of lunch and dinner options. I've visited John & Sarah's after a long day of exploration in Letchworth with my boyfriend, and boy we were hungry. This diner is very very cozy. They probably only have about 10 tables total in the whole place. We were told to sit anywhere and someone would be with us. After a few minutes our waitress arrived with the menus and took our drink order. The breakfast menu isn't included in the regular menu, unless of course you go there in the morning, so make sure to ask for it if that's what you're in the mood for. My boyfriend ordered the hungry man special, which came with SO much food, lots of pancakes, toast, bacon, eggs, etc. He was over stuffed afterword, haha. I ordered the western omelet, with no meat. It was HUGE and stuffed with so many veggies. Of course we both had coffee with our meals! The food came out really quickly and was super hot & delicious. The coffee was excellent too! Very fresh. After food I did check out the bathrooms. They are very small but very clean. They say... you can tell how clean the kitchen is based off of how clean the bathrooms are! This place was great. I trusted the reviews and was disappointed. My family and I stopped here after Letchworth and the parking lot was empty, that should have been my first clue but reviews were good so we chose to eat here. I ordered the turkey dinner and my wife ordered a pasta dish. Both came out as meals that were premade and warmed up to order which was surprising because the turkey was a special so one would assume it was prepared that day. Kids chicken fingers were over-fried and kids hamburger just didn't taste right. Will be looking for another place to stop next we are out at the Park. read more

Good food, even better service. Came here after a rainy evening/morning of camping for lunch, and a hot plate of pancakes and fried eggs really hit the spot. The perfect place to have eat any-time breakfast when on your way to or from Letchworth State Park. Very friendly services and comfortable booths. The food is very, very reasonably priced. We stopped here on our way to Letchworth Park. Tiny restaurant that serves HUGE portions. Food was excellent! My hubby got a Greek Chicken Salad which was huge, and I had a special, pulled pork with cheddar on a tomato basil tortilla with fries. Delicious!! Great breakfast here at an affordable price. The staff is friendly and in spite of being busy, the food came out fast and was delicious!

I've been going here for years it's always been a good place to go. Good service friendly staff and great food. All the desserts are house made and delicious and the soup is always great I love the broccoli cheese soup man is it good. But when eating here bring your appetite because one portion can feed you for three days lol depending on what you get aka beef tips or stir fry lol but it's just as good for all three days. My favorite is a chicken finger quesadilla man is it good very cheesey and just wonderful and the fries are fantastic. Please check out this little gem. John and Sarah's Restaurant is the spot that my best friend and I always like to eat at as it is 1/2 way from both of our homes. We stop at this restaurant every 3-4 months and we plan on doing this for a long time to come. The restaurant is small, nothing fancy, but the home cooked food here is some of the best I have ever had. The portions are extra large and always arrive at our table warm and ready to eat. The menu is not large but you get a variety of choices and should find something good to eat. They have very good pricing and the servers have always been kind and prompt with bringing food to our table. Being a waitress is never an easy job and I commend the ladies for a job well done each and every time we have been there. read more

We ordered everything from a breakfast sandwich, a skillet, and the pancakes. My breakfast sandwich was ok, but it wasn't anything to write home about.
