I had a bucket list of items that I needed help with. I got ridiculous quotes from other electricians, $2200, $2600, $2500. Marty came by, looked at the job and had decided the best course of action what to just do Time and Materials at his hourly rate. It saved him from underestimating/overestimating and I could manage the costs fairly. Items completed: 1. Deck Post light caps: Caseta switch installation. Also diagnosing some incorrect connections (I had made incorrect connections previously). Wiring an incomplete LV wiring run to complete a 'missing' section of lights. 2. Under deck puck lights: 15 Amp box and 2nd Caseta switch installation powering puck lights 3. Troubleshooting Magnitude MLV Transformer (found bad caseta switch and worked with Lutron support to diagnose and get replacement) 4. Installed heat tape on troublesome (ice/snow) roof section I got everything done for roughly $600.00. (I bought all the materials in advance ~$100 worth and did some "brain dead" stuff myself (like running 14/2 UF wire through existing conduit). In any event, I was thrilled with T&M as was he. I believed I saved roughly $1500 by spending an hour or two myself and having Marty come in for the rest. I think I found my new 'go to' electrician in my area. Fair, honest and hard working.

After dealing with shady sales tactics from Lowes and a few other vendors, I was pleasantly surprised when the Owner Rich came down from Salem, NH to personally review my needs. He explained that the 8K was more than enough for me. Now, keep in mind that the Lowe's rep suggested a 14kw, go figure. Rich's proposal was all inclusive and very straightforward. He offered financing through Generac but I ended up using personal finances. All it took was a 50% deposit and the work was scheduled. Rich showed up early on the install date as scheduled. My town was unique in that they required a building permit, so that stalled the process, but Rich was there throughout the entire process. There was one hiccup with the gas guy being behind, but once he installed the gas lines, it was good to go. The personal touch by Rich is what sets Alpine electrical services apart from all of the other dealers. My weekly generator exercise hasn't been working properly, so Rich has been very responsive in ensuring that it's working as promised. Lots of work! The guys at David Electric came & did me up. The cost was well under the price I had expected to pay. The employees were prompt, neat, polite and cleaned up after themselves (yay!). In the years since I've had them out for a few other lighting changes. My beautiful expensive dining room chandelier had some manufacturing issues. The hooks used to hold up the chandelier would break. Yeah always fun to look into the dining room and see the chandelier hanging by two out of three arms! But the boys at David Electric replaced all the bad hooks once I got replacements. Next big job is to replace some seriously old wiring. Got a great price on the job.
