My son's hamburger was huge (he really liked the thick bacon- said it was cooked very well) and the sweet potato fries were excellent. My husband said the salad bar had a good selection. Ordered the duck, loaded baked potato, and fried okra. The fried okra was the only thing warm/hot on my plate. The baked potato was hard, cold, and had unmelted cheese and hard clumps of bacon bits thrown on top. Duck was cold and not edible. My son had the kids macaroni and fries. Fries were fresh, but macaroni was cold. Service was good, but every else was terrible. Will not return. read more

We were here on a Saturday for lunch, greeted and seated right away by the hostess. The restaurant was very clean and all of the wait staff and the manager were wearing masks. My husband ordered the brisket tacos and I ordered the grouper sandwich. Both meals were delicious. The only complaint I have which is minor is that the waitress could of offered us another beer when ours was empty. She didn't and we decided not to order another. We've never been here but won't be back. Our zucchini fries were cold. Baked potato was old. Fried Brussels were burnt. Waiter seemed unconcerned when we told him. There was pasta stuck to our pork chop and we didn't order any pasta. No bread with your meal. Music was good. You'll pay .50 for water to go with your $8 bar drink. Keep walking!!! read more

I gave it a two star, We have a 6 oz steak and a beef end cornedi burger ask for a medium well it was well cooked, they charge me for water $0.25 a glass of water I'm glad I didn't have refills ,lol, I think I'd skip next time I'm in town. read more

John Henry's was very accommodating to a large party of us after a different restaurant in town messed up our party's reservation on a busy Saturday night. John Henry's was able to seat a party of 13 in less than ten minutes. The server Jackie was phenomenal. The food was great and reasonably priced. I recommend the NY Strip. They have a large salad bar with lots of ingredient choices and their baked apple pie a la mode was a nice way to finish dinner. John Henry's rescued the evening. read more

Terrible service. We sat at our table for over 15 minutes waiting for a server. After asking about our server and being assured one would be right over, we waited another 10 minutes and finally decided to leave. We had a lovely dinner at El Zarape, where the food and service were great. read more

So it is with mixed thoughts that I leave this review. Food was good and so was the service. However, the lady expediting the food was not wearing a mask. Regardless of personal views restaurants have an absolute responsibility to take ever precaution during this time to ensure the safety of their guests. The idea that someone handling your food would not wear a mask is so irresponsible and frankly disrespectful to the people coming to eat and supporting this restaurant! First I would say if you haven't been to downtown Rome, give it a try. Lots of neat stores and restaurants to try. John Henry's is ok, maybe a little below average. Their restaurant is nice and clean, had an outdoor seating space. The food is the soft spot unfortunately. The grouper sandwich...why is it sooooo salty? I am a saltaholic but could not blame my wife for not eating it. Tasted like a salted cod. The sweet potato fries were good and became the meal. My burger was cooked well but hard to taste with so much cheese. I asked for no cheese, got it with no blue cheese but slathered with other unidentifiable cheese. I paid for that later. Chicken was grilled chicken. Decent, not good or bad. Salad bar was pretty average too, no soups, most toppings out of a can rather than fresh. Overall, disappointing but look forward to trying other spots in the area read more

Went to John Henry's for mothers day. We normally are huge fans of the restuarant, however when we went today it was a bad experience. The waitor was super rude and made us feel like an inconvenience. Once our meal was served 1 hour later, we found a piece of plastic in our food. Once we told the waitor he told us that a straw wrapper had gotten into the food. We had no straws on the table. Many others around us were upset with the long wait and the staffs attitude. read more

We ate here back in August for my husband's birthday (not our first visit). He enjoyed the ribeye, though undercooked. I, however, elected to try the Reuben Burger. All I can say is , don't! It was a single overcooked very small (think the size of a regular McDonald's burger) patty with a couple of slices of packaged deli corned beef and a spoonful of sauerkraut on it for $14. I was actually expecting a $14 burger and was sorely disappointed. Our server was attentive and did an excellent job, but I don't believe that the quality of the food here is worth the prices. read more

Not a bad place and a great downtown location with one of the larger patios. Interior is good too. I thought the menu was a little bit limited. And some of the items were overpriced in my opinion. Restaurant was not busy but service took a while to get started, but I appreciate the workers who waited on us once that got worked out. I had the pulled pork Mac n cheese dish. It was fine. Tried John Henry's out last night (Friday) at peak dinner hour. They were very busy, but still got us seated in 10-15 minutes and our server, Jeremy, was fantastic. Our food also took a little long to come out, but this is totally understandable for a very busy Friday night and our server kept us updated along the way. Our food was hot when it came out and fantastic! I loved my flat iron steak and jasmine corn risotto, which my server had recommended to me. The facilities were very clean, and the service and food was fantastic. They are a bit pricier than some other restaurants in the area, but the food was well worth the price. I would even go so far to say that it was probably one of the best steaks I've eaten in Rome. I will definitely be visiting again and have already recommended it to a few friends and family. read more

I had read and heard great things about this place and I was excited to have my birthday dinner here. I called early in the week to check on reservations which they didn't do, I asked what a typical wait for 10 would be on a Saturday around 7. He said typically 20-30 mins, I know there is no way of knowing for sure but I wanted to be sure it wouldn't be hours, well we get there and of course it's over an hour although there are many empty tables (maybe short staffed). I decided to request to sit outside and they said that would be fine and we could be seated outside now without having to wait. Fast forward over an hour or longer and our food finally comes out. Also, we had ordered an app when we sat down, waitress forgot to bring it so she finally came to check on us and we reminded her so we finally got that about 5 minutes before the food came out. Everyone had steaks, they were all cold. My steak was served with Cajun butter on top and the butter wasn't even melted the least bit if that tells you anything. They forgot to include my brussel sprouts with my meal so I had to ask for those. The Mac & cheese just didn't have a good flavor period. The steak had a lot of potential and the brussel sprouts were good. The salad bar was great. I hope this was just a bad night or a bad experience for us. We did let the waitress know that each of our steaks were cold but we weren't offered any type of compensation. $100 meal for two that was not worth it. Will stick to Linda Marie's from now on. read more
