Scheduled an EV charger a week out. Adjusted my work schedule to be at home during the 10-2 window. Around 1:30 I get a call saying they can't be there and need to reschedule for 8-12 the next morning. I told them I was working the next morning could they make it later in the day? I was told they would check and call right back. In the meantime I called a coworker to see if we could switch times so I could be at home the next morning. After waiting over 30 minutes for the "I'll call right back". I called and was told nothing could be done that day. I said ok give me 8-12 the next morning like I was offered. The person told me nothing was available for a week. I insisted I had been offered 8-12 and after several minutes was told it was available and was scheduled for me. About 10 minutes later I get a text confirming my new appointment for 2-6 THAT DAY. So I make another call and am told nope it's 8-12 the next morning. When I explained I had to work in the afternoon so it was important that they be on time, I was told I was the first appointment of the day. 11:45 the next morning I call again since no one has been there. After waiting on hold for several minutes I'm told the technician is finishing a job and will be at my house soon (so much for first appointment of the day). 3:25 I get a text saying technician is on his way. They wasted over 8 hours of my time so I'll let him waste some of his time driving over to see the note I left for him stating I was hiring someone else for the job. read more

This is the most unscrupulous company in Houston. They came out to look at a job and the salesguy came over at 9:30 PM and he wouldn't leave us alone. He just kept pestering my husband until my husband finally gave up and signed for the work (which was completely and outrageously over-priced). I immediately called a friend who told me about this company's reputation, and we got out of the contract, thank God. Even though we had cancelled, we were sitting home one morning on the weekend and two workers came around our yard with shovels. They were the ones who were supposed to do the digging, I guess, and they didn't even know where the spot the needed to work on was. The reason this review isn't 1 star is because the professionals servicing the house and conducting the initial sales overview are very professional and friendly, and the plumbers are intelligent and knowledgeable. However, the low rating is because this company duped me, like several others, into purchasing a $10k system I later found out I could have acquired for about $2k at Home Depot with installation included. Not only that, but it came with a high interest rate loan. To top it off, I found out from their plumbers that came to do the actual installation that I didn't need the system--I needed a $5 filter from Home Depot I could install myself. Quick Summary: John Moore staff on 3 separate visits quoted a total of $7,000 in repairs, when in reality only $42 and 45 minutes was required. The John Moore agents' prey on peoples ignorance and fears. My 5-minute story may save you thousands of dollars. July 2023: HVAC Technician performs my first multipoint inspection, very well-spoken young man. His findings were all my temperature deltas were in the good range, house is cooling very well, but quoted $3000 of repairs mainly for the evaporators in the attic and one part for my 4 year old Daikin condenser (unit outside). I found it very strange that he showed us water where we never saw before (or since). I opted to monitor and call him back if it persisted. (Service declined) June 2024, one year later. I call for my annual VIP customer "free 28 point HVAC inspection" and "free water heater draining" service. The new technician has identical results with perfect temp readings (like 1 year before), except he now confirms the evaporators in the attic are in perfect condition (despite no work was done on them since the last visit), but he now suggests a different $3000 parts and service for "issues" on my two condenser units outside. Including $600 for a capacitor and $483 for the contactor. For those unaware, a 5 star capacitor on Amazon with identical rating 45/5 rating is $12 to $19 and a contactor is $11 to $15. Both parts can be replaced in less than 5 minutes by any technician! I said please explain...he said "Boss, I do not set the prices." I immediately put him out of my house. A few minutes later the John Moore Plumber arrives. After a 2-minute inspection on the water heater in the attic, he refuses to perform the free service (I already paid for), insisting I must spend additional $2000 in parts and labor to replace my brand new Lowe's heaters plastic drain pipe female end to brass and I must realign my heater flue (exhaust pipe). He showed me a picture of a very misaligned flue and went on to describe the potential of death and risk to my loved ones from Carbon Monoxide poisoning. Sure enough, I immediately went to inspect the Flue and realize it was a fake, both flues were perfectly aligned over top dead center, he refused to send me the photo he showed. Those plastic parts which he insists must be replaced as they can fail after usage, are designed to work far more than expected over the life of the heater. Consider the draining of heaters is done once or twice a year, so a hose will be attached 10 to 20 times over a 10 years period. Those plastic parts are tested to be used (connected/ disconnected) thousands of times. Bottom line John Moore has institutionalized a business model that lends itself to fraud and misleading of customers. Their agents spend more effort to find ways of scaring customers into buying parts that are not required instead of performing a good honest service. It is not an isolated incident, in my case it was 3 for 3, so be aware. Do not be afraid to laugh them out your door when they show you that fabricated $2000 to $3000 quote you can expect from them and rest assured you may be able to keep your system in tip top condition. for 98% less. read more

You were NOT approved for the 10 grand. ‍ But, my office will get you finance through John Moore for the full $13,000.‍ TWO INQUIRIES on my credit report now At this point I'm feeling some type of way. Do not use! Overpriced and overcharge - where to start. Had a slab leak, they came out and I was dumb accepting their quote without an invoice. As I called and told them, I'll pay what I agree but I will never use them again. First a consultation comes out and is not a plumber. (Couldn't even find my leak and tried to talk a 1200 dollar toilet). Consultation gives a quote does not give you an itemized list. 8k for a new main and drywall. Less than 40 ft and the drywall is due to them cutting . Work starts - did not show up to dig the day they said. Did not call till I called them. They did the work but pipe the hot and cold backwards (toilets were hot) They finally did my drywall but they don't do paint and texture for the price they give me. 4 days at home. I finally had to call and asked for an invoice since it has been a month. They charged me 546 for limited access attic. Funny just had a water heater and furnace replaced last year by two other companies and they didn't have that charge. Than they charged me 1100 dollars for 4 squares of 1.5 x 1 ft of drywall. What a rip off. No wonder they don't send an invoice. As I explained to them in the phone, if I knew that the drywall was separate I would never had it done by them (I have other drywall from the leak, total will be like 400). DO NOT TRUST THIS DANGEROUS COMPANY!!! I am extremely disappointed in John Moore after this experience. Our water heater broke the week leading up to Easter, I immediately thought to reach out to John Moore because of their reputation. They quickly came out, charged me half of the amount and set up an appointment for the water heater to be installed the next day. A two man team arrived to replace the water heater and after installing it one of the gentlemen went up to the attic to ensure that everything was done correctly. On May 15, 7 weeks later, my son came home from college and realized that there was a faint smell of gas in the house. My sense of smell never fully recovered after losing it briefly with Covid. The gas company came out and realized John Moore NEVER connected a hose and GAS had been LEAKING into the house! Extremely upset we reached out to John Moore and asked them to call the secondary number on our account due to work schedules- which they did not for 2 weeks, despite admitting that they saw the note asking them to call that number in their computer system. I refrained from writing a review because I thought surely they'd rectify the situation and apologize. As a teacher and veteran I value my reputation and integrity. John Moore obviously does not, in fact they tried to DOUBLE CHARGE us the second half of the payment! We explained that we already paid the full amount and have the receipts to prove it. Then we asked how they were going to compensate the GAS LEAK THEY CAUSED AND OVERLOOKED. Once they did reach back out after conferring with a supervisor, they said they would reimburse us $900! Again, they caused a gas leak to occur in my home for 7 weeks and their technician did not catch it when he "checked the work", my home could have sustained MAJOR DAMAGE, this could have been FATAL to me as a person, and your response is a momentary compensation of 18%?!?! And one of their techs came out and installed a UV light which I had assumed since he was with the company that I was paying the company but their tech pocketed the money and didn't install light properly or in the right sport. No I do not recommend this company for AC service. About a month ago I Used John Moore Airconditioning service for first time. It is August and AC is a must for 90 yr old parent. Called at 6:00 pm and they came out at 10:00 pm. They fixed the AC for $450 but said it will only last a few days They recommended a new 5 ton unit and gave a written quote for $16,000 and they could do it tomorrow. They next day I had another company come out for a quote. First of all I did not need a new unit, this one is still good. But if I want a new unit they could do it for $8,500 for they exact same product. Yes John Moore came out at 11:00 pm and fixed the AC for $450 but then FALSELY claimed it wouldn't last and a new one would cost $16,000. I feel they were trying to take advantage of old people. We had our direct neighbor inform us of a rodent issue, and since we witnessed them use this company we thought to give them a call first the fact that we gave their company our time was a mistake in itself. Technician was late, but also informed us that he wasn't able to do the complete inspection due to it getting/being dark out. With the incomplete inspection, we were quoted a total of over $12,000. We were told of currently activity, and the likelihood of it getting worse now that our neighbors home was being sealed off. Our technician followed up his sticker shock pricing with financing of 9% over 20 years. Insanity. Let it be said that we followed up with 2 companies after - one quoted $1,100 and the other $350. (The $350 came from one of the most reliable and well known companies in our area.) We obviously did not go with John Moore. Their staff is a revolving door and information rarely gets communicated effectively, leading to mistakes and inefficiency. "Call John, get charged More" - they almost got their motto right ... Why? ... I needed a circuit breaker changed. I sent a picture and asked how much it was. "our technician will have to come out and assess before we could quote a charge. Standard four hour window three days later (to be fair, it was the holidays). Fortunately, he came out on the front side of the window. Assessment, it needed to be replaced. Cost $715 - not having time to do the research into things and it being the holidays, I just agreed. Maybe it's an expensive part? Maybe it's a complicated job? I'm not an electrician. Well, let me tell you ... Complicated job? No - two screws to take off the face plate, one screw to unsecure the wire from the main board, two screws to unsecure the wires from the circuit breaker, then do it in reverse. Five to ten minutes total. Expensive part? No - part cost $70 if you buy it retail Even if you factor in a service call fee of $100 (like you can bring your house to them, kind of like being charged for the table and service-wear at a restaurant - how else was my giving you money for the food I eat at your restaurant going to happen?), that works out to over $3200/hour for the ten minutes of work. Forget sending the kids to college ... if they work just ten hours a week and want to take three months off, they can still make $1.28M/year. ($3200 x 10 x 40) Conclusion - people with good advertising and too much greed taking advantage of a situation.
