Johnny Bs has great food and a very good menu with a wide selection of choices. The servers and staff have always been kind and friendly whenever we visit this establishment. The building looks plain from the outside but inside it has a lot of interesting and nostalgic decor throughout the building. Being new to the area, I've been to Johnny B's a few times, I've had the pizza, burger, chicken and Appetizer, all food was good, and I like the pizza a lot. Servers were kind and checked on use to insure we were good. If you read other comments, all the bad ones were 2 to 5 years ago. read more

Come on now. We used to like this place but there's something wrong. Since our four-star rating, we have returned a few times. There were problems with the food and service each time. This evening we made the mistake of assuming they couldn't mess up a pizza to go. Well, they did. We received a thin crust. We didn't order a thin crust. No slices, just bite size pieces stuck to the cardboard because Chef Goober Ramsey forgot or didn't care to place wax paper under the pizza to keep it from sticking to the cardboard. We have eaten here many times. Today was terrible I ordered a chili burger with bacon cooked medium. The bacon was burned black. The burger was beyond well done burned too. And it took almost and hour to get it. Then I made the mistake of getting wings as a substitute. They to were over cooked to where the chicken was crunchy not the coating the chicken meat. After years it has degraded to the point I will no longer eat here or recommend it. read more

The food is freshly cooked when you order, and they have so many choices. Pizza, burgers, sandwiches, salads and more. They have an outside area, or inside area complete with a little arcade too. Johnny B's is sitting on a gold mine being so close to UNG! College students want a fun and lively night life spot like The Blue Room in Statesboro or Capital City in Millidgeville. This is the only place in Dahlonega that really caters to the college students on a Thursday night. It is perfect because students can just walk there and don't have to worry about drinking and driving. However, the problem is it is sooo tiny! It only holds a small amount of people and it's incredibly crowded and hot. It would be fantastic if they would expand the place to allow more people inside or put an outdoor pavilion with lights and speakers and an outdoor bar. Maybe step it up in the production department with cool lights etc.. This could be so much better and more lucrative for this establishment and make UNG more attractive to incoming students who want somewhere cool to go on a Thursday night! Dahlonega has a lot of cute bar type places, but they close too early on Thursdays and cater to the older tourists crowd. This is a big reason students transfer away after a year or two because of a lack of nightlife. Sorry, but it's true! Johnny B's could be the answer if they would expand a bit. Students already want to be there, but so many get turned away when it gets too crowded. It's sad that these students don't have more options at UNG for Thursday nights because you are only young once! Glad they at least have Johnny B's, but man it could be better! read more

DO NOT GO!!!!! They constantly allow "regulars" to go to the back to serve themselves food and drinks. The employees are rude, constantly give dirty looks and speak poorly of customers. Do not give this place your time or money. Go to19 Degrees North. It is a far better establishment and right around the corner. read more

I used to not eat wings... but now, YES because of this place. They have friendly bartenders! You can also bring your pet in the porch/outside with you. How do you like your wings? i like mine welldone crispy with lemon pepper dipped in ranch :) Must try! read more

Visited on a Thursday night, DJ was on point, crowd was dancing and we had a GREAT time. Would highly recommend.

Updating my older reviews. Went there this past week at mid afternoon. I will say absolutely nothing has changed as far as the interior. I have to add that we sat in the bar area and had the bartender as our server. He was the absolute best guy there could have been. He was constantly checking on us and his service was impeccable. I wish I got his name as his attitude is what servers and bartenders should use as gospel. Food was good, beer was cold (and cheap) and we had a great time. read more

I've been here many times and usually it's pretty good service and the food is really good. Howeverrrrrrrr, lately they have been leaving the phone line off the hook so you can't call and order or even talk to anyone, you just get a busy signal. Also, if you try to order online they don't accept it, so the order not only times out but it takes your money. That money gets paid back to you the next business day. The servers have all been rude and it seems like it's run by four ditzy college girls. Oh, and don't even think about going there on college night. It's slammed packed with as many bodies as they can get and only one side is open so you're forced to stand next to people that don't even have a mask on. Pandemic? That's still a thing?! Yes. Holy moly. We were set out to find a "Dive bar in Dahlonega". Ashley McBride made this sound easier than it was. Finally found this little place. This is some of the SLOWEST service I've ever had. And it wasn't excusably slow... We were here over an hour most of it was waiting for food/drinks. We only ordered chips and salsa/2 drinks from the bar. It took probably 15 minutes for the drinks. Then 20 minutes for the chips/salsa. Then another 20 minutes when we asked for just chips. I could understand the slow service if it wasn't for this place wasn't busy. We sat in view/ear shot of the front desk where the servers hang out and gossip. I learned everything there is to know about those girls. Yes they were all polite in interactions...but should a customer really know about the servers "spasming kidney" and her being in the ER that morning?? Feel like the owner has too many servers on staff if they have this much down time. So bottom line- if your short on time or not looking to spend a long time here, this isn't the spot for you. read more

When I arrived all of the tables vacant were completely dirtied with dishes and cups. The place wasn't that busy to justify it. I waited at least 20 minutes at a time for a drink. The bartender seemed like she was on drugs. At one point when I was waiting for the bartender to acknowledge me, a young man next to me intentionally shattered his beer next to me and the glass shattered into my leg. I left the bar literally dripping blood. I was from out of town for a wedding and really hoping for a good experience but couldn't recommend this place less read more

We opted to try a local dive over the pricy historical square restaurants. This was the most obvious choices with pretty good reviews. My first impression includes a group of bikers seated in the enclosed patio and clouds of cigarette smoke. We sat ourselves inside and away from the bikers. The place is run down. We ordered the potato poppers and a pizza. Service was rather slow. The potato poppers were typical bar food. The pizza crust was rock hard on the edges but the middle was okay. I couldn't eat much. The food and atmosphere was substandard and the smoke was wafting into our area. The bill was a shock, overpriced for sure. The place is in need of an overhaul. read more

Food was good. Had the cheese sticks to start. Hot and delishious but the marinara was refrigerator cold. Burger and tots were good. Biggest downfalls .. initially took nearly 10 minutes to even be acknowledged after seated. We were about to leave. Service the entire visit was extremely disappointing. Rarely acknowledged. Initial server refused to pull her mask above her mouth and nose. Kept it on her chin. Was told all staff were required to wear masks. Probably so, but not required to wear it right. Noticed seating wasn't always 6 feet apart either. Won't be back. read more

My wife and I took a vacation to this part of the country in October of 2011 and were driving through Dahlonega after going to see Amicalola Falls. We literally just drove up on it as we were looking for a lunch spot. We love these kind of places when we travel. It is always the local spots that we seek, as we're trying to avoid any chain restaurants we have in Orlando. This place is definitely one of those local-type spots. We were there on a Friday around 1 pm and there weren't very many folks in the place at all. Apparently it is close to a college and they do a big business Thursday - Sunday nights. Our waitress was extremely friendly and told us all about the place and provided food recommendations. I had the pizza and it was easily some of the best pizza I have had in a very long time. Supposedly the sauce is shipped from Chicago. Either way it is delicious. It was not thin or thick crust, just about right. The pizza was cut into squares which is a personal favorite and the toppings were fresh and hot. I also had a cup of the chili which I highly recommend. We did see quite a few folks getting take-out for lunch so I'm sure that other items on the menu are equally enjoyable. The waitress did say it gets pretty crazy at night with all of the college folks which is cool because we've all been there and we needed spots to party as well. Still, for a lunch spot on vacation this place rocked. Beers were very inexpensive. I believe our 22 oz mugs were 2.50 at the most and they were always ice cold. If you are ever near this place I would stop by just for the pizza alone. You won't regret it read more

Stopped in on a rainy Friday afternoon. Not very busy at all. The waitress was very personable and friendly. It appeared that the owner was here as well. I ordered the "Mad Dog" or "Angry Dog" (can't remember the exact name) hot wings. Good. Not as hot as I would like, as I wanted HOT! This isn't unusual for restaurants, since everyone has a different definition for hot. However, if you want eye watering, sniffle inducing hot, you won't find that here. We shared a cheese pizza, which came out quite burnt. The waitress proactively offered to send it back (before she even set it down), which we did. The replacement pizza was quite good. If you like square, thin crust, crunchy pizza, I'd recommend the pizza here. read more
