The vodka sauce pizza was okay, the prosciutto made it pretty salty but I really liked the pesto drizzled on top. The pappardelle was also good. The apple crisp skillet was mid. Wish the apples were cut up into smaller, easier to eat pieces. Our server forgot we moved inside and we saw our food sitting at the table outside and had to bring it in ourselves. We went here for lunch and it was just amazing. We sat on the patio cause the weather was beautiful and ordered a bottle of their rich red wine. We stopped by for dinner after a hike at a local donkey rescue. This is to say that I was super casual in sweats and sneakers and was dressed just fine. My fiancé and I went to Montaluce a couple weeks ago to tour it as a potential wedding venue. After our lovely tour, we decided to get some lunch at Trattoria di Montaluce before leaving town. The views on this sunny day were gorgeous. We dined outside and had the perfect spot to gaze at the vineyard. I couldn't figure out what I wanted to drink and asked a few questions. Our waitress Ana-Leigh recommended to me the Hugo Spritz (elderflower) which I enjoyed a lot. She was so sweet, helpful, and kind! To eat, my fiancé and I shared a Caesar salad that was served in a Parmesan bowl (can you say yum?!) and a margherita pizza with burrata (WOW!). Everything was incredible. For dessert, we indulged in a cookie skillet that was gooey and hot and paired nicely with cold, smooth ice cream on top. It tasted sinfully delicious. The wine hike tour was not worth the money spent, nor was the dinner afterwards. The hike was rough, narrow, filled with roots and other things to trip over. For people very fit it could be ok, but not appropriate or worth it for older people or those who really enjoy hiking. Constantly looking at the minimalist trail watching out for debris on the trail. Not comfortable hiking. Cheesy at best. Having dinner here was a disappointing end to an otherwise great day. We arrived at 8:45 for 9 o'clock reservation. While we were promoting greeted, we waited at the hostess stand for about 10 minutes while the hostess located a table in a relatively empty restaurant. We sat for 10 minutes before our server greeted us. She seemed preoccupied and not really focused on us. She took our drink orders and told us she would bring us water. She did but it took forever. We told her it was our first time and asked for some suggestions. She then advised that we had old menus! She left to get current ones. Our drinks took so long I walked to the bar and asked if the one sitting there were ours! I was told by someone who appeared to be the manager they were and he brought them to the table. They were not good-AT ALL! The food was the only thing good about our experience. We ordered the lasagna and pepperoni pizza. Both were delicious! I think the lasagna was the best we ever tasted! The food is the reason I am giving two stars! Unfortunately, it was not good enough for me to endure dining in this restaurant again. This was our second trip to Montaluce, but we wanted to try Trattoria this time. We arrived as soon as they opened, and although we didn't have reservations, the staff accommodated us. We were seated at Ellie's table, and she took fantastic care of us. She recommended the meatballs and Burrata Caprese to start, and we chose the Carnivora (that's a meat lover's pizza for you commoners... I kid, I kid). The meatballs were out of this world. You can order for two, four, or six. We went with four, but they were so delicious that my greedy self could have eaten a few more. So, thank you, Ellie, for the recommendation. Now, on to this here pizza. Man, let me tell you, pizza is my friggin' kryptonite, especially when it's cooked in a pizza oven. Have you ever eaten something so delicious that you become teary-eyed with every bite? This establishment has created a menu and prices that would be consistent with an expectation of great service. For example, $18 fried mozzarella or $28 lasagna. I say that to explain the level of service I was expecting. I have no problem paying for quality food and quality service. When we arrived, given it was a reservation for 15 (9 adults and 6 children) we were greeted with clear plastic solo cups of water. I specifically asked if this was because we were a big party. They replied that they were out of glass water cups (it was 7:20PM). Later the extremely awkward manager replaced our plastic cups with proper glass ones without saying a word or apologizing. Slamming down several of the cups of water, including mine. Next part, we order the fried mozzarella. The waitress takes an extremely long time to take our order and then states that she was waiting for the right cups of water to come out to take our order. It comes warm with cold, out of the refrigerator, marinara. The waitress eventually takes our order for our main course and as she comes around the table, forget to take the last three people, this includes myself and my husband and baby's order. When the orders l come out the children's orders, come out in piping hot cast oven pots are placed in front of them without any mention of the heat. I end up going to speak to the manager who pretty much dismisses me and says thank you for your feedback. Overall, the price of the food is not worth it. The only thing that was an honorable mention of the menu was the pizza. The service is a debacle and lackluster. If you are going to charge those prices provide that quality of service that would be reciprocal of those prices. Providing water in plastic cups in an establishment like this is never OK. Plan correctly and think about the safety and service of those patrons you are servicing. read more

Two restaurants at the winery. Both nice. One only has a few options for vegetarians, stick to Trattoria di Montaluce if you aren't. However, I will say the atmosphere in the restaurant at the top is fine dining and my mom would love it. The pizzeria is great for pizza, perfectly crisp, quick out of the oven! You can sit inside or out, ask to sit in the garden area, we thought they only had the terrace (too much sun/wind). The salad was a throw away item, it was fine but nothing to write home about. Presentation was lacking, just looked like my hubby chopped a bunch of veggies and threw them in a plate... fine but... Lunch here was pretty solid, Insalata di Montaluce, which easily served 4 people, two pizzas, Quattro Stagioni and the Classica (which had the small crispy pepperonis). The pizza reminded me of pizzas I had in Firenze, it was great! We ordered the 2019 Reserve Petit Verdot, they said they couldn't find it, they spent 35 minutes looking for it. After they couldn't find it, they dug us out the 2014 Cabernet Franc Reserve and gave us a discount on our second bottle, a notably act of appreciation for our patience. The wine was amazing. The views are breathtaking, it truly looks like a vineyard in Italy. I was impressed with the design throughout the vineyard and buildings; it wasn't corny or overdone. I've dined at the restaurant many times, this is the first visit to the Trattoria. Upon arriving close to noon on a Saturday, the inside was extremely cold, I'm guessing no more than 60°F. Comfortable for the staff and the guys working the pizza ovens, but miserable for any guests. Even though it just got done raining, we opted to sit outside because there was no way we could sit inside. The outside garden area is nice even though it is a bit rustic. The ground was a bit muddy underfoot at the tables. We each ordered a drink and split a carnivore pizza. The pizza was very good with a nice crisp char to it and toppings were flavorful. Service was excellent. The menu prices are a bit stout here, particularly if you are there for lunch. Stopped in on a Sunday night. $3 valet was an option we opted for & they add it to your bill if you tell them when it's time to pay. It was not packed so we had a picking of where we wanted to sit. We sat in the sunroom & it was a beautiful view. There is patio seating in the back with a fire pit & it's dog friendly THE FLYS! They were everywhere. Flying at our food, our face. I was worried I'd have one go for my mouth. I even tried to kill a few with my napkin. We thought maybe sitting outside would help but we were told we wouldn't get relief there. I thought maybe it'd be best to order our food to go but...we wanted to get out for the dining experience & good food. So be prepared to fend off your food & watch your eyes! The food was yummy. I liked how my chicken was thinned out & my date enjoyed the sea bass. Both dishes could have easily been shareable. Many people ordered the pizza & it's a pretty good size as well. Our waitress was funny, inviting & attentive. She offered recommendations which I always appreciate in a server. She said it was her last month serving to travel across the US in her van. Since you asked... Our reservations were for 8pm. Our server was Courtney. It took her a few minutes to get to us which was understandable. I could see she was handling a 6 top and an 8 top when we arrived. I was immediately perplexed as to why we were even seated in her section. Entirely inappropriate; she was set up for failure from the start. At 8:15 she offered us drinks/appetizers. We ordered calamari and told her we needed a few minutes to look at the drink menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]At this point there are 2 bartenders, 2 "managers," and 4-5 servers behind/around the bar behaving as if it were after close and social hour.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] At this point I have questions about the wine list but more importantly: what the hell is going on here??? At 8:40 we still have no calamari (which is a 3 minute dish) and I have no wine. I finally walk over to the bar, ask one of the bartenders for help with the wine list and try to explain that Courtney did not have time to wait on us. At this point, I knew our calamari had not been put in and she was in the midst of cashing out her large party. My expectation was for the young man to ring in our food and wine. Instead he offered me a taste of wine which was nice, but he had to have a conversation with 3 girls behind the bar with the sample in his hand before passing it to me, and then walked across the restaurant to tell Courtney to help us.  Now, I'm absolutely baffled, and I think the worst part of it all was that meanwhile the man who I am assuming is the "manager" (branded vest over a button up, headset, appears older than the other staff) has been posted up at the bar the ENTIRE time. Now that Courtney has cashed out her 2 large parties and has time to wait on us, she is very attentive and helpful. She was clearly embarrassed and I don't blame her.  Our calamari arrives a few minutes later confirming my suspicion that it never got put in. It was so bad. If your staff don't know how to handle a product, take it off the menu! Our entrées were fine, but the bill was just a slap in the face after such a terrible experience. Absolutely not worth the money, which is truly a shame because this could be a nice place. We won't be back.
