Our server was Alexandria S. A party of 6 ate lunch. I told her before we sat down that one of the people in our party was having surgery tomorrow. Alexandria was amazing. First of all, if your marketing geniuses create a promotion with so many restrictions that it ceases to be a promotion, you have a problem. What marketing benefit is there to pissing off customers? The "filet" with the fettuccine Alfredo was strips of some microwaved mystery meat, but definitely NOT filet. The seafood penne was probably great when the mussels were fresh, but not now. Finally...if bringing the check is delayed because the manager has to OK the promotion, and the "manager" is busy cooking, you're no longer a restaurant, but a mess tent. read more

The sweet chili wings and Calamari are some of the best around . Highly recommend going there just for that. The meat sauce pasta needs to have more meat and more sauce. You need to do better on that. read more

It was an absolutely lovely atmosphere. All the workers inside were absolut angels- even being stressed from Valentine's Day. Specifically our server Emma was fantastic and attentive to our table and was generally very kind. And obviously the food was divine- best alfredo I have ever had. This restaurant has been been on my list for awhile. Today, Monday, at noon the place was empty. Only one other table was occupied. There prices for lunch are reasonable and comparable to other table service restaurants so I didn't understand why no one was dining today. But by the time we left over a half dozen tables had filled up. I ordered the Johnny's Fresh Baked Lasagna and my sister went with the unlimited soup & salad. The lasagna was excellent! A perfect blend of ground beef and sausage with a great meaty marinara sauce. She got their Italian Vinaigrette dressing on her salad and it smelled good. She chose the Minestrone soup over the potato soup. It was a big bowl and she finished it all. The complimentary bread was pretty good too. Service was great even after they got busy, we had many check ins. The establishment has great mood music playing over the speakers with a mix of jazz and vocal numbers. Restrooms were clean and stocked. Parking was a non-issue. read more

After our Easter dinner plan fell through we had to feed hungry teens and pasta always works. This location has been open for decades and is still a beautiful spot with the main door on the side of building not facing 31 which is nice for noise. The place was pretty empty when we got in,so we got sat and served fast. Service was great and very polite. Our good came out in good time and everything was good. Nothing was amazing but it was fresh and filling. We love the nachos always worth a stop in. read more

After a long hard day at work, I was able to sit down and relax with my family and enjoy a wonderful meal, we were served with excellent service from with this wonderful waitress named Tammy. Tammy was patient and kind, very helpful and friendly. She also recommended the best tasting cake! I will be back because of this experience. read more

Food portions were good and tasted great. We were able to request angel hair pasta instead of the regular spaghetti noodles for our meals. Our server was very attentive and nice. We sat in the bar area and one of the booths is used by the wait staff as a "break room". We didn't feel that we needed to listen to their conversations about their customers and fellow waiters. Ordered the meatball sub (I believe that's what they called it) ans a wedge salad and it was really enjoyable. I did need to ask for some more marinara because the sandwich was a little more on the dry side but I like my food saucy. Overall it was great food and our waiter did a wonderful job. read more

This place has a small town vibe rather than a franchise which was nice. The service was odd, staff weren't exceptionally friendly aside from Caden, our waiter. Bread took a really long time to come out and we were left with one piece each and no more came out - it was warm and delicious. The cup of potato soup was delicious though it was a smaller portion than I anticipated. The drinks were good - I had the spiked strawberry lemonade and would order again! It wasn't as pretty as the picture on the menu, but I was happy with the choice. The pasta trio with tortellini, lasagna and spaghetti was a good choice since I was unsure which pasta to choose (the lasagna won by a long shot)! Price was a bit steep for quality, but expected when eating out and portion size was large for most items! The lemon créme cake was delicious, but again, slightly small portion size than expected. I would return to try more, but not my favorite Italian spot. read more

It's been probably 10 years since I've been to any Johnny Carino's location. We used to go in college when we got tired of dorm food. My brother and I were shopping at the mall and looking for a place to eat lunch. It was a chilly day so a big ol' plate of pasta sounded amazing and it did not disappoint. We did have to wait a few minutes to be seated but they were very clear about that upfront which I always appreciate. When we got seated they brought the bread and dipping oil right away while we looked through the menu. Our server Alicia was super friendly. The menu is fairly large but they do have a lunch menu option. I had the create your own pasta which was perfect. I chose the spicy marinara sauce with penne pasta and added meatballs for $2 more. Even though it was a lunch portion, it was a healthy amount of pasta. It was slightly over cooked but still good. I also added a side salad for another few dollars. My brother had a bacon cheeseburger which he enjoyed. I also loved the Italian soda. I like anything sparkling and it was a good non-soda option. They have lots of specials throughout the week and lots of family meals so it would be good be a good option for takeout too. read more

Johnny carinos has really fallen in their quality of food and service. I was there a few months ago and it was not good, we all have off days so I thought id give it another try. Today was worse than last time. The server had no clue what we ordered . When she finally brought our drinks she had to ask each of us what we had same way the our lunch. I have chicken parm and the sauce had zero flavor tasted like they opened a can of tomato sauce and poured it over it. One word, Blech. I tried Johnny Carrinos back in like 2007 and didn't remember it being this bad. Guess another case of food amnesia hits... I stopped into Johnny Cariños for lunch because I was in the area on business and wanted Italian. The parking lot only had a few cars in it so I thought this was a decent choice for a quick-ish lunch. The atmosphere is nice enough and the place looks clean. I walk in the door and wait at the hostess stand for about 5 minutes and no one greets me. I should have just turned around and left but I was already there so I waited. Only when the phone rang did someone come out to answer it and told me they'll be just a minute. Okay, no big deal, everyone is short staffed. So I wait a few minutes more. I am then greeted and taken to my seat. After I get sat down though, I wait another 10 minutes before someone comes to ask what I want to drink. I take this opportunity to go ahead and order while I have my waitress at the table. She was nice and did apologize for the wait. I couldn't decide so I got pizza and spaghetti which comes with a house salad. As I wait for my bread and salad I notice that I am only 1 of 5 tables sat and there are 2 waitresses working, a bartender and at least 2 kitchen staff. My salad and bread come out quickly. The salad has packaged shredded Parmesan cheese on it that tastes like it's been drying out in the open air for hours. The oil would have been fine but the waitress shook some weird dried garlic in it last minute that came from a giant plastic shaker. I picked at the salad but it was horrible. It tasted old and like it came from a bag. The spaghetti was okay. The noodles were thick and slightly overdone. The Bolognese was a rustic thick country style . The pizza was decent but the over abundance of pepperoni made it so greasy. It's a shame, it had really good crust. Needless to say, I over ordered and still left hungry. I just couldn't eat any of it. read more

Well, to be honest we will probably never be back. We got something in the mail for a free meal (salad, steak fettuccine and Lasgna with a free bread to go), so we decided to go for lunch. Me, my husband, and my 2 year old daughter. We get sat, and she asked what my husband and I wanted to drink. Never asked about my daughter. Went over the menu and I asked a question about the difference between lunch and dinner and she said "just the portion sizes" which later I found out wasn't true because the dinner comes with unlimited salad. She also asked my husband how he wanted his steak, he said medium.. and got very grey well done steak. After we ordered (we both got an entree and then we also ordered my daughter 2 kids meals ... pizza and their nuggets) which comes with a drink... and ice cream. We waited about 15 minutes for our food and she brings out the kids meals and says that she put in the wrong entree for me - no big deal we weren't on a time limit- and then about 2 minutes later brings out our entrees. She tells us to be careful the plates are hot- so we expected the food to be hot as well, not the case at all. The plate was hot, the food was ... warm at best. We were never asked about a drink for my daughter even after buying 2 kids meals. We asked for the ice cream to go, got no spoons. We never got the to-go bread. And they were not busy at all. There was 1 other table in the whole restaurant with 3 people. This was the worse service I've gotten in a long time from anywhere tbh. read more

After a hectic day I was craving pasta so we decided to try out this spot having past it for years. When we entered the host seated us quickly and gave us menus. There were a few tables occupied but really it was rather empty. Our waiter came quickly and we ordered an appetizer of fried ravioli. The menu is a bit extensive with various deals and family packs versus individual entrees so we had some confusion before settling on our choices. In the meantime we got water and saw the waiter a few times. My angel hair pasta with artichokes came with a side salad which surprisingly came out before the appetizer. I love that it was served in a cold bowl! My only complaint was that the salad dressing was sloppy and running down the side of the bowl but was tasty. It was a bit too much for me so I would request dressing on the side in a future visit. Our appetizer took some time but seemed freshly grilled when it arrived. It was 4 ample ravioli with a sauce that seemed a bit more chili than sauce. I enjoyed them but would get something else if we returned. The breading was nice. My husband orders a simple pizza with tomatoes, basil and cheese that was wood fired. He said it had a good flavor and the dough was crusty and nice. Nothing outstanding but good and an ample portion. My angel hair pasta came usually with pesto sauce but due to a bit of confusion it came out plain with just the veggies. I asked for marinara sauce to add to it. It took a bit of time to get the sauce which was slightly surprising for m the lack of customers and number of staff. But maybe they were heating it up? When I did get it I liked the spice it added and flavor profile. There was a lot of good about our visit but when I asked my husband about coming back he said for the price it wouldn't be his first choice. So even though we liked it it seemed just ok. Nothing wrong but not totally remarkable either. But also maybe next time we would get different options and enjoy those a bit more. I was really disappointed with everything about my dinner at Carino's. I ordered penne pasta with marinara sauce and it was barely edible. The sauce was a thick, dark red glob that tasted like it had been made days earlier. There was also far too much of it. I asked for Parmesan cheese (no, it wasn't offered) but the server forgot to bring it, just as she forgot to bring my salad. The place was nearly empty so it isn't as if she was busy with other customers. There are far too many good Italian restaurants to choose from in Indy. Do yourself a favor and skip this one. read more

Okay, I am a long time resident of this neighboring facility. I have been coming here since I was a child. To come here and have my family treated like trash is NOT acceptable. The feel of the place has completely changed, also the fact that we had to get our waitress attention SEVERAL times is ridiculous. The food here is good. But y'all need to get your staff together and to better standards. This is just flat-out horrible service to treat customers. I will not come here again.
