I confess I went without the longhots in my Italian Hot Dog, but that was because I wanted to experience the original flavor of the genre before moving uptown to the high rent spicy pepper district. And, I don't regret it for a moment.
Johnny stuffs three frankfurters into a footlong sesame seeded torpedo, and then adds sautéed onions and green peppers, chunks of fried potato, long squirts of ketchup and deli mustard, before cutting it in half, wrapping it in aluminum foil and boxing it up in a long black cardboard coffin and taping it shut.
Sure. It was as delicious as expected, but just as beautiful to behold before jamming the open corner into mi boca grande and cleaving through with every tooth able to grasp it and close shut. I felt like a great white devouring its prey. Everything from the sesame seeds through the sausage played their part well. The fact that I could only eat half before I reached full belly, only meant that I could duplicate this compelling experience again tomorrow.
That I will, with relish!
