The portions at Johnny Piancone's are nice and big and the food is amazing. They have a parking lot in the back. If you are in Long Branch, this really should be on your list of places to eat. So funny story first.... made reservations at a restaurant down the street (restaurant to remain un-named). After a great day at the beach we were ready for a nice dinner before heading home. We started with a pitcher of Sangria, amazingly fresh bread, grilled octopus and drunken clams. Let's just say after the apps we were impressed. On to the main course. Pan seared shrimp and scallops, flank steak, filet mignon, stuffed sole, lobster ravioli and rigatoni. As we ate, we continued to comment how beautiful the presentation and flavor of the food was. It's not often that you find a restaurant where everyone's meal was excellent, but this place nailed it! Finished off with some tasty deserts.... pistachio ricotta cake, cream brûlée cheesecake and sorbet. Dined this past week with friends at Johnny Piancone's for the first time. The restaurant years ago was Joe and Maggie's which was a excellent restaurant. I have to say Maggie would be proud that Johnny Piancone's took over this location. The food was outstanding from appetizer to dessert. The antipasto salad was a work of art. I should of taken a picture to post. My veal chop was cooked perfectly and came with mushroom risotto. The rest of my party had a verity from fish to pasta with no complaints. read more

I cannot say enough great things about this restaurant! I ordered 2 last minute caprese and antipasto platters for friends that had a death in the family. They were so beautiful and my friends could not stop raving about how delicious they were! The staff was so friendly and helpful and I cannot thank them enough. I've been going to restaurants owned and operated by this family for a very long time (remember La Nonna Piancone's? How about the Dom DeLuise Board?). Rick puts out an excellent Italian meal, whether it's meat (Osso Bucco) or fish (Zuppa de Pesce). The food is always fresh and cooked correctly. Server Nick is very attentive to everyone's needs. Try their antipasto platters for special occasions...excellent. They have a neat little bar in the middle of the place too, frequented by locals. Parking is good and free (unlike Asbury Park and Red Bank!). read more

We are thrilled to have our friend and old family-fave back! Like many, we missed Piancone's in Bradley Beach, where we often gathered for special occasions - incl our wedding rehearsal dinner which yielded an embarassment of doggie bags (sooo much great food!) We decided to try Johnny P's last month for our 15th anniversary, and went back again last night for my sister's birthday. They did not disappoint! In both instances, we were presented an antipasti tray filled with an array of tasty Italian delicasies incl artichokes hearts on stems, grilled eggplant, fresh mozzarella, asst. cheeses and roasted peppers. Now I must give a shout-out to my Best Foodie Friend, Warren, who invited me to Yelp.. Hey WARREN.. Warren.. warren.. (WHAT? What? what?) I couldn't believe my ears when my sister began reading aloud from the menu, Piancone's version of (you guessed it, Don) ...Mac N Cheese! Which consisted of tortellini baked with asiago, mascarpone and pecorino. Well done! We both ordered it, it was outrageous.. and as we enjoyed it we toasted you, my dear friend, with some sparkling Italian wine ~ Cheers! To cap the night.. espresso, NY-style cheesecake and homemade red velvet cake. The whole restaurant joined us in singing HB to my sister. Stopped in for happy hour menu. Not taking COVID seriously, even a little bit. Server never pulled mask up any of three times he came to our table. Then he sneezed super obnoxiously, over the top loudly while headed back inside. That would have disgusted me under normal circumstances, nevermind COVID, which is the reason restaurants have been suffering these last 6 months. My soda glass was also filthy. Never again. After living in north Jersey my entire life where the food is great and moving to the Jersey Shore, I have not found too many good restaurants, Italian in particular. My husband, friend and I decided to try this place last week. I was pleasantly surprised! It's not a fancy place but we were happy. The atmosphere is cute, service very good and I liked the food!! I had my daughter's bridal shower here and the food was good but I was embarrassed at how bad the cake was that I ordered from them. They are in need of a new pastry chef because as pretty as the cake looked, the cake was dry and the buttercream icing was so thick and had no butter flavor, not to mention the cake tasted like it was in the fridge for a couple of days. I paid a ridiculous price of $145 in order to avoid a $2 fee per slice of cake served if I had purchased the cake elsewhere. I would've saved money by buying a cake from Costco, which would've tasted 100 percent better for $20.00 to serve 40 guests, which would've cost $100 total at $2 per slice. If you buy their cake, they don't charge you a serving fee. I was originally going to do the Mimosa bar and he did tell me that he charged by the glass but never answered me when I asked how much. I decided to do Proseco instead assuming he would charge me by the bottle, but I was charged $9 a glass. The bar tab ended up being a little over $600!!!! The bill wasn't even itemized by how many people had a glass. We ended up finding out that around 68-70 glasses were "supposedly" served, which I highly doubt. I was going to have my other daughter's baby shower there because it was nice and the food was reasonably good at a decent price. After receiving the bill for the Proseco and cake, I was disgusted with the event person/guy and decided that I would never go there again even if I'm invited to an event. I felt that he took it upon himself to rip me off by charging me so much money for the Proseco and the cake to make more money for this event. Beware of the prices for everything before booking an event with them or anyone else, for that matter. I learned a lesson the hard and very expensive way. read more

Absolutely amazing. They have live jazz nights and the decor is perfectly friendly and very tasteful. The waiter Richard is very friendly and made great recommendation on the calamari - which is battered just right and very tender. The portions are huge and it's definitely worth the money. It was also very nice of them to let is know before ordering and let us know that we totally can share since everything is huge. Btw the bread-omg soooo good! It's toasted and it's like right from the oven or something. The veal, get the veal!!!! read more

I worked for the Piancone family about 15 years ago in the original location in Bradley beach. The food was great the but let me tell you the food now is absolutely to die for. Me and my boyfriend went yesterday for happy hour to sit at the bar and watch the Raiders game. The bar was jam packed so we sat at a high top in the bar area. Brian the bartender was great and handled the bar and all the high top tables he was extremely attentive to everyone. We started of with clams casino hands down the best I ever had. Then we went for prosutto pizza Delish!! We were going to leave and make burgers at home then a spot opened at the bar so we decided to stay and order another app and split a dinner. We ordered stuffed scallops with crab meat phenomenal. Then I asked chef Jose to make shrimp scampi because it's not on the regular menu. He said no problem. It was perfect huge jumbo shrimp cooked to perfection. Then we finished off the night with homemade key lime tart and two Irish coffees. The crust on tart was amazing. We had a great experience there I think it will be one of our normal spots. read more

Went there on a Saturday night for dinner. We were seated right away. The service was excellence the whole night. We ordered the eggplant rollatini as an appetizer and it was delicious. Real pleasent dining room as you walk into this establishment. Started off really delicious bread. Ordered the eggplant tower. It was good, but needed grated cheese (which is on the table) and salt. The eggplant is francaised warm, and the layers of mozzarella and tomato are cold. So you have hot and cold going on which is quite nice. Main course we had chicken nono. Francaised chicken with mozzarella and Parma ham. Very tasty. Potatoes very good and mixed vegetables very good Staff very professional. All in all I would come back. read more

Tim and Jen brought my girlfriend and I to Johnny's for dinner on two occasions and I must say we loved it each time. It's quite cozy with a great bar selection and a busy staff that knows how to treat guests timely and respectfully. My girlfriend and I are vegan and usually have a hard time eating out but that wasn't a problem with this spot. They made me an amazing meal of pasta with grilled vegetables that I finished in record time. I would suggest this resturant to anyone who wants to be treated well and eat wonderfully made food from people who are quite wonderful too. read more

Following an emotional funeral my family was looking for a place in the area to have brunch. Someone recommended this place and I'm so glad they did. It was small, but being we had about 40 people we just rented out the entire place. The staff was so accommodating and friendly. They had a nice setup for us, buffet style which was great because it made things so much easier. Drinks were already laid out on a table with multiple different options. The wine and food were great! After our meal pastries, coffee, and zeppoles (my favorite) were brought to us, and were delicious I might add! I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family and I can't wait to return ! read more

Price: Restaurant week had a 3 course meal for $30.14 (great price) Portions: The portions were huge, but did not skimp on any flavor or presentation. If I wanted to finish my food there, my girlfriend and I would have shared a meal. However, we ordered 2 meals and barely touched our main and desserts. Food: Meal 1: Tuscan Shrimp, Sunday Sauce, Red Velvet cake. 4 huge shrimp, the sunday sauce was a huge tasty bowl of pasta. The red velvet cake was good and not too sweet. Meal 2: Zuppa di Clams in white wine sauce, Pork Osso Bucco and Italian cheesecake. There were 10 huge clams, the pork was fall off the bone and huge! The Italian cheesecake was on my top 3 best desserts eaten! Atmosphere: The restaurant is small but that takes nothing away from taste and service. Cute place, sauce was just ok because it was watery. Two others had the no name salad and caesar salad which were both great. They sat us in the front of the restaurant and it felt like the the air conditioning was on. We froze through dinner and could not wait to leave. Not a comfortable way to eat at all. I told the server that I thought the air was on by mistake, she said no, its just cold up front! Went for my Birthday on 9/17/20 and the food never disappoints although portions seemed a tad smaller. I wish I could say the same for the waiter. He was a heavy set gentlemen who was totally unengaged. Over and over we had to ask for items which should have been staples like bread , butter, salt pepper. Not only was the food great the service was excellent .. due to changing times for my daughter's rehearsal at nearby Monmouth University we had to change reservation time and size and they were accommodating. We also had to have 3 people quickly served to get back to the school and they had no issues .. the "adults" were then able to leisurely enjoy their meals which we all enjoyed. read more

I cannot say more except you have to try. Everything we ordered was fresh and cooked perfectly! I highly recommend any of the shrimp dishes as they are outstanding. The reason for the 3 stars is that the service left a lot to be desired. We sat in a section closely to other tables. These other tables were receiving service for over 15 mins and not one person acknowledged us. We asked a server for help and she was not sure who was going wait on our table??? She did finally help us...however the service was still slow and not at all up to standards. We sat and devoured our appetizers and still had not received our drinks. Very good food. Laid back atmosphere. The stale bread reviewer doesn't know good Italian bread. It is supposed to be a little crunchy. Some do like that actually as opposed to soft doughy bread.
