This is a review for the NEW Johnny Rockets at Destiny, opened April 2016. The new Johnny Rockets is a lot like the old Johnny rockets, just without all the things that made the old one fun and endearing. The comfortable, diner-like environment with its red pleather booths, tabletop juke boxes, ketchup smilies and dancing staff is gone. In its place is a somewhat sterile, more industrial environment, probably because this location was changed from a "Burger Factory" back to a Johnny Rockets partway through construction. The food and pricing are approximately the same, but generally not as good. Specifically, the hamburger seemed notably thinner (my wife and I both commented on it at the same time - it was the first thing we noticed when our food was served) and the fries seemed different as well - less crisp. The burgers tasted the same (quite good) and my wife's chocolate shake was think and tasty. The wait staff was friendly and took good care of us. But the food was only part of the reason to visit the old Johnny Rockets. The decor and the fun were part of the experience, and those are GONE. What's left is just a generic restaurant that listlessly serves decent food with no frills. The remodel/relocation is definitely a downgrade from the old one. read more

The server, Rosa was great. Big smile and great attitude. However, food quality was poor. The hamburger and fries were cold. It seem as the hamburgers were made hours ago and just sitting there waiting to be served. Too bad, this Johnny rockets' used to be one of the best. read more

The food was great. The prices however were a bit on the high side. The staff was also very friendly. We payed $5.49 for a medium milkshake. In my opinion, this is a high price for a milkshake. I would pay $6 for a milkshake at an ice cream place, but not at a throwback style diner. Overall though, we enjoyed our meal and time there. read more

This is my favorite diner in all of Central NY. The staff is always so polite, the food is very diner-like (as it should be), and if there's a wait try really make it go by quickly. Highly recommended! read more

Short wait, week between Xmas and New Years. Was offered to share a table with another couple (with seats between us) so didn't have to wait longer. Service was great, shakes were awesome! Burgers were not up to par. Not hot, buns were hard. Fries were over done to the point they hurt to eat because they were so crispy, salads were good. I've been here before with good results, assuming this visit was a result of the busy season. Will visit again some time when it's a slower time of year for the mall. read more

This place sucks... pay for unlimited fries, which sucked, and the waitress never came back because I got my wife the bacon fries, only got one drink and the set up is so stinghy, It is just like it never left the 50s, and the staff didn't care that their restaurant is shutting down. read more

Steve was the most entertaining an amazing waiter at Destiny USA Johnny Rockets. We couldnt get a table at Cheesecake Factory so we came here and I'm so glad we did because Steve made everyone so happy with his cheerful attitude and great service. Food is AMAZING!!!! People are nice and the staff is super friendly! The milkshakes are to die for and the Route 66 burger is the best!!! If you're in Syracuse or even visiting then stopping in for lunch or dinner is a MUST! You will not be disappointed. read more

Awwee yeah. I went with my son this week. I got a bacon double, and he got chicken tenders... And man did we grub. My burger was ridiculously huge and awesome. When I was done gluttonizing myself with greasy delicious meat topped with cheese, bacon, lettuce & onions.... I killed my fries and then finished the chicken tenders my son couldnt finish... Okay so this place makes number 5 on my best burger places. I know this is surprizing but when I am in the mood for a greasy, not good for me burger, this is my place. I love a great greasy burger and this is my place. The patties are thin and wide but if you make your burger a double it comes out fine. The toppings are usually spot on and the bun is your traditional (what seems to be) fast food bun but with a little more....finesse....so to say, it's bigger and holds together better and tastes fantastic. This is one of my favorite places for a burger but like I said, only when I am in the mood because it is heavy on your tummy. The fries and shakes here make it though. Chili cheese fries make the meal come together I tell you what. I don't even care that some times the fries are soggy because you get in there with a fork and go nuts on those fries because they are amazing. Recently tried the Smore's shake, was freaking fantastic and was perfect to start the meal with. Definitely always a staple place to stop at when at the mall. read more

Palisades Mall, Nyack, NY. Service was fine. Prices were insane $49 for an original burger, a patty melt type of burger, an order of onion rings and fries ( fries don't come with burgers anymore), 2 Cokes and a vanilla malt...they've redesigned their locations to be bland and fit in with all these other burger joints, completely robbing the charm that brought people there in the first place - an authentic 50's burger joint. The wall has a sign about them being "The Original" but there was nothing original about this boring redesign. They're trying to emulate In and Out Burger with their farm to table fresh ingredients wallpaper and position themselves with Red Robin, Smash Burger and Shake Shake with their design. They should've just played to their strengths, one of which was the 50's vibe, and improved other aspects by keeping classic menu items and adding new..I don't mind spending $ for quality but I never spend more than $40 at Shake Shack for 5 of us. $49 for 2 at Johnny Rockets is crazy.. read more

I just want to start out by saying I've NEVER had a bad experience here at this same location until now. The food is great you never have to wait long to be seated and the service is pleasant and efficient. Except today we order a Nathan's Hotdog, that in its picture on the menu comes fully loaded. When we were served the hotdog, by whom we can only assume is the manager, it was plain. We then told him that we thought it came with condiments and he said only upon request, which we were not asked what we wanted on the hotdog. When he took it back then again served it to us it looked as if someone just threw the toppings on there, and his attitude seemed he could careless what he served his customers. Being in the restaurant line of work I would never have that served to someone. This review only got three stars based upon the fact this is the first bad experience we've had or else it would've gotten 1. read more

Very pricey for what u get. Burgers are not that good at all. Shakes are meh fries are okay. Very noisey. Service is normally slow and rude. I do like their theme but, I think because it's part of a chain it will never be good. I hate to say it but, just grab a burger from the food court. read more

After watching a movie at the Regal Cinema, my significant other and I decided to stop there for a bite to eat. We were relieved to find the restaurant was neither crowded nor had a line. We immediately jumped in line and waited, and waited, and waited. The staff didn't seem busy, yet they barely acknowledged that we were waiting to be seated. After about 10 minutes as we were just about to leave, we were finally greeted by a hostess who brought us to a dirty booth that she hastily wiped down directly before we sat. Nothing like sitting on fresh cleaning chemicals while deciding what to order! We waited for an additional 15 minutes for a server to come by and ask us what we wanted to drink while we looked over the menu. The waitress that came by skipped out on asking us what to drink and asked for our orders straight away. If it weren't for the fact that we were sitting there long enough to read over the menu multiple times, we would have felt rushed. She remembered to take our drink orders after nearly walking away without asking. Thankfully, the food was good, but our waitress only stopped by once to see how we were doing and she already had our bill in hand. "No rush on that" she said even though she didn't think to ask us if we were interested in a dessert before slapping the bill down on the table. Come on, seriously? Johnny Rockets is known for its malt shakes and you're going to let us leave without so much as suggesting a shake? If it weren't for the fact that we had already planned the shakes we wanted, we would have just left it at that. When the shakes came, the refill tin had barely a spoonful of extra milkshake. I remember going there 3 years ago, and it was an entire new shake. The waitress gave us our updated bill with "No rush" yeah? No kidding, we waited at least 10 more minutes before she came back to collect our money. Last night is the last time that I will ever consider swinging by Johnny Rockets at Destiny USA. While the food is better than some equivalent places, e.g. ( Burgers and fries), it is quite pricey. It is nice to have such a restaurant away from the food court. The number one deterrent is the TOO LOUD music. It is not pleasant at those decibels, not to mention the inability to actually converse with lunch partner. Have tried to request toning it down; but it fell on DEAF EARS !!!!! read more

This place is just pure grease and fat. Burgers are slimy and kill your stomach for hours. Used to be an ok place to go once in a while when kids were little, but it is slop now. Sorry...but not a fan and it is not cheap for fast food. read more
